About the Artist
Michael Friedman is one of the founding members of the successful smooth jazz group, Dotsero. Dotsero has entertained audiences throughout America and their music has reached fans internationally. Their second CD, Jubilee, stayed at #1 on the national charts for weeks. The group has produced 6 jazz releases that have been distributed internationally and have received many positive reviews. Friedman and the other band members are co-owners of a popular jazz club located in downtown Denver, Colorado.
Friedman has traditionally been known for writing and playing songs that can be described as a strong blend of jazz, pop, light funk, and soulful melodies. He has further expanded his repetoire by arranging children's classic tunes with a variety of jazz styles. His new CD, Swingset Jazz, was inspired by his new son whose face is featured on the cover of the CD.

A Treat for All Ages!.......2001-12-08
I am a music educator for elementary and middle school students in public schools and never have I found music that helps me teach jazz as well as this album. Comparing the jazz adaptations to tunes familiar to the children is perfect for pointing out riffs, improvisation, syncopation -- and the list goes on. I have first graders who love to sing scat, thanks to Twinkle Twinkle Little Star! I can also teach many other basic musical concepts NOT relating to jazz with this music -- so it's getting lots of "airplay" in my classrooms.
But, above all, this music is fun! I defy anyone -- of any age -- to sit still during "Music Island" or "This Old Man." My 18 year old daughter will want a copy, and my 11 year old son chooses this CD over many others for favorite "car music." My husband and I are just entranced with the arrangements and the musicianship. And there have been few of my students who haven't just raved about the music, and started boppin' along.
I've bought copies for every kid on my holiday gift list, and know that they will LOVE singing, dancing and jamming along with Michael and his pals.
