The former saxophonist and clarinettist started arranging as a result of nerve demage to his lower lip - he was simply unable to play his instrument any more. In the 1950s, Bill Holman worked his way up to become one of the elite of jazz-arrangers. His motto: „my instrument is the orchestra."
