Excellent Buy.......2007-06-01
This is an excellent collection of Bond's wonderful music. The DVD side which has music videos and optional 5.1 surround is a great incentive. I think it was an excellent buy and I recommend it to anyone who likes this type of music.
EXPLOSIVE!.......2007-05-15
This is a fantastic CD. It also included 3 music videos on the DVD side of this CD. This CD a must for anyone who likes Rock & Classical with a Spanish edge.
Spice Girls meet Vivaldi? .......2007-04-19
This is an exceptionally strange recording. Someone has recruited some highly attractive women (their accompanying photos look like a Victoria's Secret spread) who also happen to play string music. They have formed (or been formed into) a group that pits their fiddling against a heavy, synthesized rhythm track. The music has its occasional classical touches (including Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker"), but it mostly sounds like Latin music (of the "Tico Tico" variety). I defer to the people who like it, but it's about the most bizarre music I've heard, and I'm frankly sorry for those who apparently haven't heard the sound of acoustic violins and violas--or haven't heard a decent live rhythm section.
Love them.......2007-04-04
I was introduced to these BOND women through the jaguar magazine. Their music is explosive and energetic. It is wonderful to listen to for all generations. It is amazing that these 4 women can produce a product that sounds like there were at least 10 more people playing.
Explosive: The Best of Bond CD.......2007-03-27
As all the previous Bond CDs, a great listen!!

Blast! has a built-in constituency: the millions who are or have been in high-school marching bands, or twirled batons and engaged in what may have seemed to the uninitiated to be otherwise dorky activities. For the members of the Blast! troupe can identify: these are the kids who were once mocked by the cool crowd and now strut their stuff to admiring legions around the United States. Originating with the Star of Indiana drum corps, Blast is a frantic, loud show of colorful pageantry that's part Riverdance, part Stomp, and part homecoming parade. The music is performed in marching-band fashion, featuring an impressive panoply of brass and percussion: Ravel's Bolero and excerpts from Aaron Copland's Appalachian Spring get Blast!-ed, as well as some lesser-known gems, such as Samuel Barber's Medea. "Gee Officer Krupke" (from West Side Story) obviously wasn't quite perky enough, so the interpretation here integrates various musical quotes, including the theme from The Simpsons. What the performers lose in subtlety, they sure make up for in sheer oomph. --Elisabeth Vincentelli
Customer Reviews:
What a Ride!!!.......2007-02-07
You don't really have to understand or appreciate marching band to hughely appreciate the dynamics and showmanship of BLAST! It was revolutionary to bring this type of show to the stage in London, New York and in many touring shows at many venues. To have this music available on CD to listen at any time is truly a rousing joy.
Don't miss out........get your copy and enjoy a group of extremely talented musicians show their stuff.
A musiclal treat worth listening to!.......2006-05-08
This is one of the most refreshing musical compilations in a long time. Unfortunately, it's difficult to get the full flavor of "Blast!" unless you've seen the actual performance. With that being said, I was thouroughly impressed with musical vituosity of this relatively young cast. Anyone not emotionally moved by the gut-felt trumpet lines in "Loss" certainly can't be a true lover of music. As a one time trumpet player, the warmth and depth of this performance made me absolutely envyous! Take this and mix it with the heart-pounding percussion, and the interspersed chorale-style vocals, and you have a very entertaining auditory treat.
Missing the whole experience.......2006-02-16
After seeing this show live, this CD just barely misses making both exciting. There are a couple numbers (Battery Battle) not included that would go a long way into making this disc into a true Blast!
Bad part done, now for the good parts. The musicianship shown in these selections are astounding. Ben Harloff's solo in "Lost" brings me to tears anytime I hear it. The audacity to have fun being displayed by these semi-professional artists during "Officer Krupke" is a hoot! (Just be sure to catch all the little fun riffs a la The Simpsons theme.) The playfulness in "Land of Make Believe" sends you back to your childhood of many a care-free day.
You miss some of the visuals from the show. I recommend the DVD to get some of the things you do miss. And if you ever get the chance, see it live!
Not just for drum corps fans!.......2006-01-25
I just want to get it out there that I'm a classical harpist (which is pretty much the opposite end of the musical spectrum from "Blast"), and I love this CD. True, not much can be done with color and nuance with such an ensemble, but they still give enjoyable and exhilarating performances. Just take it for what it is!
For drum corps fans only.......2005-03-10
"Blast" evolved from the Star of Indiana, one of the most sucessful drum corps of modern times. Musically it's more than drum corps- you've got violins, for example- but at its core (no pun intended) is the drum corps spirit: Rhythm and dynamics are at the forefront, and melody is something that just comes along for the ride.
In the theater, "Blast" is either exhilerating or punishing, depending on how you feel in general about this sort of thing, but on a CD it's merely tiresome. While you can't help but be impressed by the musicianship and the dynamic performances, there's just not much of interest musically. Still, some people love this sort of sensory overload, and who's to say they're wrong? And there are those who, having seen "Blast" in the theater, are looking to recreate the experience at home. But if you're looking for musical entertainment, I'd give this a pass.

Customer Reviews:
Very Enjoyable for all music fans.......2006-03-02
This is very good collection of music that brings to life a wide variety of music that is both old and contemporary. The selections vary from composers, historical and famous such as Pavarotti and Puccini to today's James Horner (Titanic, A Beauituful Mind) and John Williams (Star Wars, Sabrina, Jaws, Saving Private Ryan).
If you enjoy the sounds of Sarah Brightman, Charlotte Church, Enya, Kate Bush, Andrea Bocelli, and various theatre music (Andrew Lloyd Webber (Evita, Cats), then you will find this collection worthy of your appreciation.
I have often wondered why classical music radio channels do not play modern composers (i.e., Horner, Willams), and am glad that this album gives them credit that they deserve. There is so many good compositions being created every day that only appear to have a voice on the big screen, which is unfortunate.
Track 11, composed by The Doors, and is a nice version, indeed. I also enjoy the Bond players giving a new twist to some old favourites.
Ciao,
Neil
Absolutely Amazing! Two CDs packed with the world's most beautiful classical music..........2005-11-08
First, let me begin by saying that I am by no means an expert in classical music, but have grown to appreciate it immensely in the past year. I can say wholeheartedly that this is the most beautiful compilation of music I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. It's simple irresistible. There are few words to describe how emotional it is to hear Pavarotti sing "II Canto", or Placido Domingo belt out "Questa o quella". You just get numb with joy!! I have NO idea what they are saying but a translation not necessary. The entire collection (TWo jammed-packed CDs) is phenomenal (excluding the selections from "Bond" which I found to be particularly annoying and not at all "classical" in the true sense of the word). There is something here for everyone, regardless of your personal musical tastes or tolerances.
A guaranteed hit -- Don't miss this one.
CD One
Andrea Bocelli "En Aranjuez con tu amor"
Bryn Terfel - "Granada"
Bond - "Viva" ( not my favorite, sounds almost disco-ish)
Hayley Westenra - "Pokarekare Ana"
Luciano Pavarotti - "Una Mattina"
Katherine jenkins - "Time To Say Goodbye" (a heart stopper - so beautiful!)
Duel - "Canon" (lovely!)
Janine Jansen - "Allegro from 'Spring'"

Nigel Kennedy - "The Unknown Soldier"
Kiri Te Kanawa - "Nuns' Chorus"
Nelson Freire - "Chopin Etude No. 1 op. 25

James Horner - "For the Love of a Princess
Hans Zimmer & Lisa Gerrard "Now We Are Free"
Renee Fleming - "Mesicku na nebi hlubokem"
Russell Watson - "Amore e Musica"
CD TWO
Luciano Pavarotti - "II Canto" (I MUST see him sing this in person!!)
Placido Domingo - "Questa o quello" (I never tire of hearing this)
Andrea Bocelli & Bryn Terfel - "the Pearl Fisher's Duet"
Jose Carreras - "Funiculi, funicula
Dominc Miller & Kaori Muraji - "Fragile"
Tavener - "Song for Athene"

Powerful singer - Powerful Message.......2006-07-11
Judy Jacobs is so overlooked when it comes to contemporary Christian music. The power and sincerity of her singing really has a strong effect on me. I heard her first on TBN on tv and from then on I was hooked.
My favorites on the album are "Lord God of Abraham" and "Almighty Reigns" because they are so upbeat. But I also enjoyed "Worthy" which is a much slower tempo. The other songs are good as well.
Classic Judy Jacob styled album.......2005-12-07
If you liked Judy Jacobs past albums, you should like this one because this is a classic Judy Jacob styled album. The song that made me buy the album is "Worthy". It's a great worship song that also prays for the Presence of God to fill you. The other songs I like are the first three songs, "Lord God of Abraham", "All Mighty Reigns" and "All Belongs To You".

Like the wind that sweeps away the singer in "Teotihuacan," the first song on Perla Batalla's Heaven and Earth, the Los Angelina world-folk singer's deeply soulful voice lifts and carries us through her Mestiza song-cycle. Batalla's Latin ancestry is at the center of Heaven and is an ongoing theme in a superb body of work that includes her critically lauded Mestiza (1999). From the gospel-flavored vocals of the title track to the redemptive, sweeping "Salvation" to her mesmerizing meditation on racism, "Making Up for Lost Time," Heaven is a sublime statement from an artist whose voice and poetry are in union with her rich cultural roots. As well as being Batalla's songwriting and producing partner, guitarist David Batteau's notes shimmer and glide in poetic response to every emotional nuance of the singer's voice--one moment picking out razor-sharp melodic lines and the next moment strumming with passionate abandon. With a generous and wide-open heart, Perla Batalla and her musical caravan--which includes percussionist Claud Mann and the extraordinarily versatile drummer-percussionist Debra Dobkin--invite us to join them on their Mestiza voyage. --Michael Wells
Album Description
Perla Batalla's "Mestiza" voyage continues. Co-written with David Batteau, Heaven and Earth is a compelling celebration of the emotion and depth of living in two worlds. Perla's songs describe a rich and complex blending of history, blood and culture.
Customer Reviews:
Become wrapped up in the music of this amazing talent!.......2004-01-13
Hypnotic, entrancing and completely original, this artist's music will pleasantly haunt you and merit repeated play on your stereo! Look for more titles by this gifted musician!
Incredibly Soothing..........2001-11-07
I cannot count the times I have played this CD while commuting on the Los Angeles-area freeways since the September 11 atrocities...incredibly soothing vocals, clean arrangements. An incredible talent.
Heaven and Earth.......2001-05-15
Perla Batalla's rich voice and soulful delivery astound me every time I hear her. She constantly amazes me with her mastery and personal honesty. When Perla sings, her soul flies and takes you to new realms. If you ever have the opportunity to see Perla in person, she is the most astounding performer you will ever be blessed to witness. She takes you on a journey that will change you forever. She is all voice and heart. If you are looking for pure soul, Perla has it. Buy two CD's, because you will want to share this with a friend.
Appropriate Title.......2000-11-15
This is an appropriate title for a work of great sophistication, polish and depth. Then again it has a beat you can dance to. Material like this should be a template for serious artists who won't give in to the flesh peddlars in the record industry who make music for 14 year olds. I have been a fan of Perla's singing since the early days and the voice just gets better and better. She is without any doubt one of the greatest singers on the planet. What makes this work so elegant and impressive is the quality of the song writing and experienced treatment of the material by seasoned pros who never sold out to make a buck. I believe the lady produced the disc herself and put s everything she has into the songs, literally and figuratively. The addition of Debra Dobkin as a percussionist, plus pristine production really makes this a treat for the ears beyond the magnificent Batalla voice. "Heaven and Earth," "The First Time I Felt Rain," and "Starbound" are utterly astounding in the literate quality of David Batteau's lyrics alongside melodies that have downright pop hooks (I mean that in a complimentary way). Calling this popular music doesn't really do it justice but it is beyond labelling. This album is uplifting, intriguing and then there is the bonus of that gorgeous voice that has only a few rivals today or in the past. Songs like these have a way of lifting you up and allowing you to see the other side of life, the side of joy and celebration of the human spirit. "Heaven and Earth" is a CD you would want to include in that desert island stash and nobody would vote you off the island for your impeccable taste in music. Bless you Perla!
Epiphany!!.......2000-11-04
Perla Batalla has the voice of an angel, the looks of a goddess and the songwriting ability of a poet. I bought Heaven and Earth because I loved Mestiza so much and my favorite songs on the new cd are Out of the Labyrinth and The First Time I Felt Rain, but each and every song is as delightful as the next and I can't seem to get enough of this cd. I'm buying extra copies as gifts for my favorite friends who appreciate great music. I highly recommend this cd.

Album Description
"Tapestry", the explosive debut release from the L.A.-based band MOJO is sure to excite fans of intense, melodic instrumental rock fusion! This trailblazing power trio features Kofi Baker (son of drumming legend, Ginger Baker), guitarist Brett Garsed (Nelson, John Farnham and Garsed & Helmerich) and bassist Ricc Fierabracci (Frank Gambale, Steve Smith, Andy Summers and Yanni). Tapestry combines well crafted original songs with spirited improvisation and interplay captured in a "live in the studio" context.
Kofi Baker establishes a solid presence throughout the record with his use of polyrhythmic textures and incredible technique. Baker anchors the rhythm section while making strong individual percussive statements in each tune. He is a drumming force to be reckoned with and continues the journey to creativity in the spirit of his father's work with Cream. The phenomenal Brett Garsed shines on every track. His fluid style is distinct and recognizable. Comfortable and assured, Garsed knows when to lay back and when to assault, demonstrating his maturity and position as a first-rate guitarist. Ricc Fierabracci's compelling bass playing stands out in this musical showcase built to display his unique approach and melodic technique. He ties it all together while making the bass sing.
All three musicians combine to create a rich musical landscape while redefining the word "virtuoso." Prepare to be fully engaged and captivated.

One Very Tight Power Trio.......2006-03-26
I totally agree with Mark V. As you listen to this record you will think your ears are playing tricks on you. This is a very tight power trio into rock/jazz fusion and the production values are excellent. Brett Garsted is one mean guitar player and extremely versatile. On this record he reminds me of the famous jazz guitarist Larry Coryell while on "Big Sky" he takes a more rock approach, ala Joe Satriani. Buy this CD, you will have no regrets.
Cream of the Crop.......2005-06-15
When I first played this CD I almost pulled my car over to the side of the road because I completely lost my concentation. I actually started laughing because I could not believe what I was hearing. Absolutely flawless solos and improvisations from some ot the best musicians I have ever heard. These guys are absolutely at the top of their game. If you're into hard rock/jazz/prog/fusion you will be absolutely floored by this CD. Baker does his daddy proud on this one...

A Dy-No-Mite tribute to K-tel Records..........2004-06-04
Ahhh, the 70's...pet rocks, moon boots, Farrah slacks, and K-tel Records. Remember the television ads? "Not available in any stores!" K-tel Records would basically take the popular one hit wonder tracks, and re-package them into easily digestible compilations. "It's a nugget cuz you dug it!" And people dug it...I mean, how could you go wrong? The idea was sound...take a smattering of hook-laden recent hit and semi-hit songs licensed from the original labels, lay 'em down on a shiny vinyl platter creating an instant greatest hits album, buy some cheap air time on local television stations, sell direct to the customer cutting out the brick and mortar middlemen, and rake in the do-re-mi.
Pravda Records Inc. revives the heyday of K-tel Records in '20 Explosive Dynamic Super Hit Explosions!' by presenting 20 choice ditties performed by various artists, some popular, some not so much, but all pretty darn good...the tracks are as follows;
Track 1 Hooked on a Feeling, performed by The Slugs (originally by Blue Swede) complete with the immensely inane "ooga chaka, ooga chaka' hook.
Track 2 I Wanna Be With You, performed by The Sneetches with Shoes (originally by The Rasberries) sounding almost Beatlesque, if the Beatles were really incredibly lame...let's face it; there are some songs that defy any amount of 'coolin' up'.
Track 3 Jackie Blue, performed by the Smashing Pumpkins (originally by the Ozark Mountain Daredevils) sounding very electrified and slightly down-trodden, as was the Pumpkins signature style.
Track 4 Crocodile Rock, performed by The Farmers (originally by Elton John) The Farmers took this 70's staples and put an early sixties spin, sounding similar to the straight forward rock and roll of the time, i.e. the Big Bopper, Buddy Holly, the Everly Brothers.
Track 5 Little Willy, performed by Material Issue (originally by Sweet) Material Issue actually stayed pretty close to the original stylings (including the cowbell) of the song, adding an extra layer of smoothness...
Track 6 That's the Way (I Like It), performed by Trenchmouth (originally by KC and the Sunshine Band) certainly adds a level of hardness to the song, but maintains the singability.
Track 7 Brandy (You're A Fine Girl), performed by The Reivers (originally by Looking Glass) The Reivers take this perennial 70's classic and add a twinge of lounge while staying fairly faithful to the original.
Track 8 The Night Chicago Died performed by No Empathy (originally by Paper Lace ) I will say that while these guys really beat the hell out of this song, it still managed to maintain it's shape of just an incredibly cheesy song. Good effort, and a lot of fun, though...
Track 9 Shannon, performed by The Sinatras (originally by Henry Gross) Oh man, this is one of the soppiest, sappiest songs to come out of that era, and these guys work it pretty close to the original.
Track 10 Theme From Shaft, performed by Cheer-Accident (originally by Isaac Hayes) This is probably the most unique interpretation of this song I've ever heard...imagine Nine Inch Nails doing the song...it's sort of like that, but more experimental...
Track 11 Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes), performed by The Service (originally by Edison Lighthouse ) Another perennial 70's favorite...interesting take on the song, forgoing the smoothness of the original for a more bouncy, choppy feel, losing the distinctiveness in the process.
Track 12 Black Betty, performed by Young Fresh Fellows (originally by Ram Jam) This one just didn't work for me, as it seemed like a lot of the intensity was drained out comparing this version to the original.
Track 13 Hocus Pocus, performed by Spies Who Surf (originally by Focus) Pretty good remake, and they even managed to add a bit of twangy Hawaiian guitar into the mix.
Track 14 Convoy, performed by The New Duncan Imperials (originally by C.W. McCall) Okay, it seems pretty redundant to redo a novelty song, but they did, and here it is...
Track 15 Everything I Own, performed by 13 Nightmares (originally by Bread) I like this version...they took the original and just ripped the guts out, turning it into something pretty scary...despite the fact it's supposed to be a love song...
Track 16 Dancing In The Moonlight, performed by M.O.T.O (Master Of The Obvious) (originally by King Harvest) kind of a loungey version, keeping the original bouncy tempo of the original version.
Track 17 Mississippi Queen, performed by God's Acre (originally by Mountain) While I still favor the original version, this one rocked almost as hard...not quite as heavy, but certainly edged...
Track 18 I Feel Love, performed by Poster Children (originally by Donna Summer) There's certainly an interesting mix of styles on this album, including this pop disco song. Enjoy the punky disco stylings...
Track 19 Jimmy Loves Mary-Anne, performed by Boom Hank (originally by Looking Glass) I never really cared for Boom Hank too much, and I cared for the song even less...
Track 20 Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In), performed by Mojo Nixon & The Second Edition (originally by Kenny Rodgers and the First Edition) Nobody does cow-punk better than Mojo Nixon, and he proves that here...
If you enjoy this album, then you'll be happy to hear there are two more in this series, '20 More Explosive Fantastic Rockin' Mega Smash Hit Explosions!' and 'Star Power', both by Pravda Records.

The Sinatras are the best!.......2004-04-16
The Sinatras' version of "Shannon" is the best!
it's okay.......2001-05-17
People who trash the Pumpkins for playing a song straight (in their first year of being a band) in 1988 should realize how foolish this actually is. Have they heard any recent Pumpkins covers? Of course not. They're too busy wallowing in their own delusions of self-proclaimed musical taste to realize that genius is under their nose, and they pass it off as worthless. Seriously, what band with no sense of humor would call themself The Smashing Pumpkins and still hope to retain some self-respect?
This cd is pretty good, despite some low points, there are some pretty good songs as well. For a good early 90s rock compilation, check out the Singles soundtrack, or the Alternative Rock Cafe, or No Alternative, or maybe the Hype! soundtrack.
Definitely a fun CD.......2001-04-26
Not withstanding the obviously biased opinions of the smashing Pumpkins fans who either praised this Cd because their beloved Pumpkins are on it or trashed it because their beloved Pumpkins are the only band they like on the whole CD, this Cd is a lot of fun. I love the hard rock treatment of "That's the way I like it." The completely over-exaggerated version of "The NIght Chicago died" is worth the price of the Cd alone. In short. If you remember all the corny hits of the 70s and have an open mind to different styles of music this CD is definitely worth picking up. Incidentally, since i'm sure some Pumpkins fan is waiting to trash my review, I don't really care much for the Pumpkins, but their verson of Jackie blue is very cool.
That 70's album.......2000-06-21
I love every song on here EXCEPT the Smashing Pumpkins song - mostly cause they play it straight. Leave it to the Pumpkins to have NO sense of humor... This album is hilarious and fun from start to finish. My cassette of it has resided in my car continuously since 1991! PERFECT road trip music!

SOOOOO GOOOOD!!!!.......2004-01-16
I'm going to say less and let this sentence speak for itself: this is probably my favorite single ever, by anybody.
It's not like We Have Explosive is necessarily one of their best songs. It's an industrial dance track that's particularly raw and abrasive (in a good way) with a lot of the usually weird background effects supplied by FSOL. However, it's what they DO with the song that makes it special. Only the first and last songs sound anything alike. Each of the others is a fresh and invigorating take on the original song, with only the slightest snippets of the original thrown in to lend an appropriate quantity of continuity to the whole operation. The Manstronik one is particularly well done, but there are no weak points. This CD is amazing. I got it for $4 on a whim at a used music shop two years ago and I'm still laughing about my good fortune.
For Your Noisy Neighbors.......2001-06-24
This is a great, crashing, banging CD. It's not all noise however, there are some real toe tappers on this album. The Mantronic mix is the best.
excellent!.......1999-10-25
this cd has enough power to scare the hell out of your grandmother. I really like this cd for it's funk driven, electricly impulsive, powerful, psychedelic and eerie feel. If any of you guys are familiar with the movie Hero starring Robert Deniro, you can hear a couple samples in this cd!I'm warning you, if you like the smell of fresh battery acid in the morning, the look of twisted metal, the sound of distressed head-banging robots, then this albums yours!
FSOL...Rulez.......1999-08-23
9 parts of We Have Explosive and thay are good wery good Pt.4 is best pt. on this cd
This CD is fantastically wonderful........1999-03-23
If you love "old skool" techno, this is the CD to get! It is great! I don't know much about their other stuff but this is one of my favorites. A perfect comparison is old, fast Prodigy. It's great!
