Pure elegance, mixed with jazz. Helen Humes was one of the great jazz singers of our time along with Mildred Baoley, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Anita O'Day. This is another great Humes LP, as are all of her LP's are worthj listening to.

I shall forever remember being backstage with Helen Humes the last time she ever sang in public, just months before her death in 1981. She sang "If I Could Be With You One Hour Tonight," and Bill Basie fell in love with her all over again.

There she stood with her "joy boys," all of Basie's top artists and one would never have known that she was fighting the battle of her life and was soon to give in to cancer. Her voice was just as clear and strong as you'll find it here. Helen Humes is a national treasure and if you put this in your shopping cart, you will truly have been a treasure hunter. Enjoy.

I am kinda partial to the AABC, because I am alumni. I sang all of the songs on this disk on tour with the chorus. If you want to listen to outstanding choral ensamble, buy this and all of the AABC CD's. In fact buy 5 of each so you can give them out as presents.

If you ever get the chance, go see The All American Boy's Chorus. They are so much more entertaining than the Vienna Boy's Choir. This CD is also great--it's like re-living the live show!

With all that is going on in the world today, it is great to know that there are still such things as great music for our children to participate in. After hearing this music, knowing it comes from young boys who have dedicated there time and energy to creating it, gives me faith in Americas youth.

UNBELIEVABLE! BUY IT NOW! After hearing this CD and their other one (By Request!), I am stunned! The recording is phenomenal, but try to see a live performance. Their energy and youthful charisma are inspiring and contagious! An appropriate subtitle for this CD would be "This Is America, And All Is Well!" If you ever wondered about our kids and the future of America, just listen to these guys. If they are any indication, we're only getting better!

    If you like Ella, and you like Basie, you love this CD. Big sound, huge swing. I dare you not to sing and dance around the house. "Them There Eyes" never sounded better.

      I know that the name of Harold Ashby is probably a mystery to a lot of jazz fans out there. I just disovered his music recently myself. He is a great talent who somehow seemed to slip through the cracks and was forgetten or never known by many people. I think we need to make a public apology this wonderful sax player.

      Since I have bought this cd I have given it a lot of playtime on my cd player. Harold has a nice sounding tenor sax. It sounds a lot like velvet. He seems to play in a style that most of us can follow. His communication skills are wonderful.

      There is anohter wonderful musician on this project who also needs some attention in this review. That is his pianist Horace Parlan. Horace is a pianist with a lot of wonderful ideas. He plays an accompaniment that really highlights the leader in this recording. He knows when to do his own thing and when to hold back. I plan to persue Horaces' recordings to see what he can do as a leader. I know that I won't be disapponted.

      The repertoire offered with this cd is a good selection of old standards. It's one that I can never get tired of hearing.

      As for the band, they played together like they were made for each other. I would like to give them a big hand of applause.
      You guys, you're great.

      I think jazz fans should buy this cd and discover it's hidden treasures.
