In the 1970s, Argentine-born saxophonist Leandro "Gato" Barbieri came to fame for his soundtrack of Bernardo Bertolucci's Last Tango in Paris--but his most important work of that period was a daring series of recordings for Impulse. On them, Barbieri travelled to places such as Buenos Aires, Argentina and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and recorded with local musicians, combining his fiery post-Coltrane sensibility and Latin American rhythms and styles, often played on indigenous instruments. This 2 CD reissue, Latino America, collects the material from the two first recordings in the series plus some previously unreleased material. Here Barbieri and his ensembles stretch out exploring Argentine folkore ("La China Leoncia"), tango ("Nunca Mas," which features Dino Saluzzi on bandoneon), and Brazilian samba ("Encontros") with remarkably clarity and force. I don't have this album but hearded it on winamp the musics are very good in fact it has the best musics of winamps latin arquives.My favorite is the first track even knowing winamp does not put the number of the tracks it's easy to know because the melodies can not variate so much in one track and one track does not durates more than one hour.However it's worth buying it.

If you liked Adassa's previous release you may be disappointed with this one. She becomes too mainstream, or rather a bit of cliche. The grittyness in her voice is gone and you will listen to a higher pitched "beyoncesque" voice rather than the deeper Regaetton voice of her previous release. That being said, her voice seems to show promise if she can just chose a sound to pursue for it.
Other than "La manera" (which you would not recognize as Adassa from just listening to it), the CD is mostly forgettable. It is not bad, just nothing to get excited about.

I first heard Javier Garcia on Putumayo Presents: Radio Latino. I was so impressed with 'Me Gustaria' I had to buy Garcia's CD immediately. His songs are so catchy and upbeat, they make you want to dance! When I first got this CD, I listened to it 4 times! Buy this, you will really love it!

I've had this CD for a couple of months and it just gets better with each listen. The lyrics are sometimes insightful, always heartfelt, and the music, the music is a very personal but seamless blend of all sorts of African diaspora musical styles. This boy loves the funk and sees how it compliments (and vice versa) all the Caribbean sounds he stirs into the bubbling pot. I guarantee, Javier Garcia will move you heart and your hips. This guy's not kidding when he says he's packing dynamite!

I discovered this artist/cd from a podcast (Ritmo Latino) and went out and bought the CD immediately. I don't understand a word of spanish but the rhythms are enough for me. Give it a listen, I'm hooked.

It took 9 for Javier Garcia to give the world his second album and in my opinion, it's worth the wait! This album is just perfect in all the sense of the word. The music, rythm, lyrics, are all in tune with a world that only Javier Garcia is capable of creating; enjoyment and non-stop dance.

In comparison with his previous work, he is still using many instruments and mixing different styles, but you can feel a more mature production in the air.

If you haven't heard his work before, I would suggest that you listen to his first CD before listening to this one.

I happened onto this young artist while on an American Airlines plane. They had a recording of his playing in a loop with some biography information mixed in. I was "hooked" on the first track! I wanted to jump up and dance right in the aisles! I love it for the same reason one of the reviewers hated it (I mean really how can something sound "too Latin"?) - Javier takes traditional sounds and rhythms and mixes it with a bit of hip hop and even rap. It's a blend that honors all styles and leaves you wanting more. I just can't say enought about this singer/songwriter/artist. He's a talent yet to be discovered in the mainstream, but I'm doing my best to spread the word - Javier Garcia deserves it. If you're considering this purchase, you need only sample the sounds on amazon. This is one of the very few CD's where I love more than half the songs. Worth every penny. Hope you like it too!

I think "Descarga en California" is Rebeca's best solo effort to date. It's awesome! I have all of her CDs, but this one stays in my CD player on a regular basis since it was released. To be honest I'm not usually much of a Latin jazz fan, although I am drawn to her music. I'm much more of a timba fan day to day. However, the compositions and the quality of the musical work on "Descarga..." is one of the bests I've ever heard. I especially like the drums and timbales on "Suena tu timbal", Serenata rítmica", and "Califas".

To bad I couldn't make it to Yoshi's for the release performance. It was just a bit far from northern VA. I hope she keeps up the great work. I can hardly wait for the next CD.

    After being a little dissapointed by his 2nd album, Mexicano came back with this work of genius. Although not as good as his 1st album "Entre El Bien y El Mal" this album brings great beats as well as deep lyrics. I'd really suggest it if you like spanish hip-hop/reggaeton. After almost 10 years; Mexicano's still got it.

    I gave Mexicano 777's "God's Assassins" 5 Stars and much props, little did I know he could and would follow it up with an even deeper and more lyrical album. This man is still the best and no one, I mean no one can touch him. Like I said in my review of his last album "His music is deep, lyrical and insightful, if you don't feel the pain, anger, joy and sadness in his voice then you're just not listening." Listen to him sing, rap, chant and basically do reggae and reggaeton better than anyone else around and you too will become a fan. Another must have by the illest Boriqua, no the illest period. "Puerto Rico Stand Up!!!"

      Jose does this set with the heart of a Mexican. There is not a single song that is in the cd as just a fill in. He blows fellow Puerto Rican Luis Miguel away. Luis just does not have the heart to do ranchera music. You will not be disappointed with this cd.

      This is another great album from the master vocalist and legendary guitarist. This album furthermore proves once again that Feliciano is pefectly comfortable in any style of music. I have never been keen on Mexcian music but the way Jose sings evey song is really outstanding. He (like always) puts so much feeling and emotion with everything that he sings that this time is no exception. He feels every note that he sings like if it was coming from his heart. Feliciano is such a professional that no musical style is impossible for him. His voice and guitar is equally brilliant although on this album his legendary guitar playing is in the background due to the Mariachi Sol De Mexico that backs him up in every song on this CD. This is a great album and as I said before Jose Feliciano is after 40 years of staying power in the tough music industry a leader and a living legend and a musician of superb talent and showmanship.

      I have played many many similar records during 32 years;
      I have VERY seldom admired musical renditions as I experienced
      what I felt when listening to several pieces in this Di Blasio
      CD like "Here We Are" "Caminito" and "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" which are really outstanding. Every one of this CD
      is very well done but this is NO SURPRISE when one compares
      Di Blasio technique to ANY OTHER pianists.. This man is ALWAYS
      a complete musical experience because NOT only his style so
      rich and compact but the accompaniments are brilliant.Just take
      "Bridge Over Troubled Waters" and specially the CHOIR element
      is superb.Another factor is really something important to consider: I cannot remember another artist who can threat an instrument with the excelence Di Blasio can and who is SO
      UNegoistic because almost always lets other sections glow
      while he stays in the background.
      I have listened to literally thousands of records during many many years and can only wonder WHY SO MANY were distinguished
      with a 5 STAR rating BUT comparing to those,THIS DI BLASIO CD should merit at least 6 STARs...

      How many fingers does this guy have? 1 ? The song selection is very original. The selection ranges from Serrat's Penelope to Juan Gabriel's Amor Eterno. It is the latter version that Di Blasio does not do justice to the remarkable song even with an orchestra backing him.
      I recommend you check out other pianists that do contemporary music like Clayderman,the cuban Enrique Chia, and Giovanni. They go beyond one finger piano playing.

      Although is not the best of his albums, this one keeps the strength of the artist in every song. A very eclectic album, if you wanna know something about popular songs in other countries
