I've been listening to this CD for many years and it only gets better with time. Pour a glass of really good cab that has great depth, sit back and take 30 minutes to really enjoy ana and the experience of the very best listening you will ever find.

Better yet, share her with a friend....

The recording (I have the gold version) and performance are first rate. I also own her 'Amazonia' (which I like very much) and believe this is a superior performance. The selections are mostly laid-back with spare instrumentation....and oh...that chesky sound! Why don't more recording studios capture sound like this? These tunes have a different flair from the popular Jobim output....but they are masterfully and tastefully done. Tom would be proud.

With the Walther Wanderley bossa nova organ records from the 60's in mind (uff), this excellent CD from Larry Goldings take the "latin B3" to the next level with no comparison to Wanderley. Goldings plays the organ in a laid-back Jimmy Smith style and that suits this excellent trio with Bernstein (guitar), Stewart (drums) and guest Joshua Redman (tenor on a few tracks). Musically this CD is not challenging for the listener, it's just very well played memorable bossa tunes from Jobim and Gilberto among others, in a laid-back mood. The only drawback for Goldings fans is that this CD is currently out-of-print.

        5 out of 5 stars Excellent international debut from Hong Kong jazz artist.......2002-04-21

        Caminhos Cruzados is the Portugese expression for "crossing roads", which aptly describes this CD. Angelita Li, a jazz singer from Hong Kong, collaborated with Hans Ulrich, a Danish saxophone player and Eugene Pao, a Hong Kong jazz guitarist and performed Brazilian flavoured music. There are fresh interpretation of pop songs like Carpenters' "Close to you" and Carole King's "So far away", as well as 4 Portugese songs. Of particular note is "Uma noite", which originally is an extremely popular Japanese song and now has Portugese lyrics. Angelita has an excellent voice and her singing is versatile. Definitely not to be missed.

        Rocha (guitar) and Cardosa (woodwinds) are two talented musicians paying great homage to Brazilian traditions while performing in a contemporary jazz based style. I feel that the flute/guitar tracks are the strongest of the bunch. These gentlemen show both chops and musicality at every turn. It is a shame musicians such as these don't get more notice in the jazz community (a community known for the existence of 5 great unknown musicians for every well known performer!). Great listening for all Brazilian jazz fans!
