Product Description
This album includes some of Dudley Moore's best-love jazz performances, recorded live in England and Australia by The Dudley Moore Trio--Dudley Moore, piano; Peter Morgan, bass and Chris Karan, drums. The performances on this CD were among Dudley's favorites. Dudley was President and co-founder Martine Avenue Productions, Inc., a company he created to bring his works to the public. Martine is proud to continue this work in Dudley's memory. Proceeds from the sale of this CD will go toward two charities that were important to Dudley--Music For All Seasons, taking live music into facilities such as hospitals, nursing homes and shelters for children and victims of domestic violence; and the Dudley Moore Research Fund for PSP, searching for a cure for the disease from which he died in March of 2002.
Jazz Jubilee,The Dudley Moore Trio,Martine Avenue Productions, Inc.,Dudley Moore recorded some of his best-loved Jazz performances during the 1970's, working with drummer Chirs Karan and bassist Peter Morgan. A really Fine Romance.......2007-07-05
It doesn't get any better than these two playing these guys! Some of it was recorded at Abbey Road Studios. Use your imagination... It's all just swell.
A Musical Treat.......2006-01-08
"The true mission of the violin is to imitate the accents of the human voice, a noble mission that has earned for the violin the glory of being called the king of instruments." ~ Charles-Auguste De Bériot ~
Yehudi Menuhin and Stéphane Grapelli together had made some of the most beautiful music ever-recorded. And I believe that this is one of the many successful albums they recorded together. In this recording, both violinists have showed their excellent musicianship and interpretative eloquence as well, making it one of my most cherished CDs from my collection.
These are the main ingredients of a perfectly-made CD for your listening pleasure: mix violins, piano, bass and drums together, combine two terrific violinists, season with the best melodies in the 20s, 30s and 40s from Irving Berlin, Jerome Kern, Cole Porter and Rodgers & Hart. Add the musical talents of Nelson Riddle, Max Harris, Martin Taylor, Eddie Tripp, Alan Clare and the rest of the studio musicians. Now all you have to do is to sit back, relax and savor these stunning melodies coming from your CD player. Listen to it in full-volume and fill your music room with the sheer beauty of these classics.
One of my favorite musical instruments is violin. With its four strings, it gives a whole wide range of musical versatility and I simply love the fascinating sound it produces.
My personal highlights are the best tunes from Jerome Kern - "The Way You Look Tonight" (Nelson Riddle arranged this particular track and conducted the Woodwind and Brass section), "A Fine Romance," "Pick Yourself Up," "Why Do I Love You?" and "All The Things You Are."
My choices from Irving Berlin's gems are - "Isn't It A Lovely Day?" featuring the great artistry of Nelson Riddle in arranging and conducting, "Cheek To Cheek" and "I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm."
The Cole Porter repertoire represented his musical sophistication in "Night And Day," "I Get A Kick Out Of You" and "Just One Of Those Things."
The choice cuts from the talented and creative team of Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart are "My Funny Valentine" and "Thou Swell."
Listening to this CD is so delectable and equivalent to having my favorite dessert - be it Tiramisu, New York Cheesecake, Black Forest Cake, Chocolate Soufflé, Créme Brulee, Chocolate Mousse or Chocolate-Coated Strawberries! ;)
A musical treat.

Album Description
This is the debut album from the sultry and ever swinging Ms. Wilde and her Jumpin' Jubilee Orchestra, a sweet blend of 16 world-class musicians who specialize in the raw, earthy big-band rythmn & blues of the 40's and 50's. This is music from the special time before strict boundaries were drawn between jazz, blues and r&b. Combining the drive of swing and jump-blues, the hot soloing of jazz, and the sublime vocal stylings of Lily Wilde, the Jumpin' Jubilee Orchestra appeals to dancers, listeners and all fans of timeless music played by great musicians.
Customer Reviews:
Take me back to the forties!.......2006-12-29
Lily Wilde and the orchestra have obviously been listening to a lot of Buddy and Ella Johnson over the years. They have their horn driven r&b sound down! Lily even sounds a bit like Ella on occasion. The band stomps and swings while Lily's voice floats over the swinging rhythm section. Songs like "Mr. 5x5", the old tune about Jimmy Rushing and "work baby" by Louis Jordan sound like they were written by her. Great musicianship, great arrangements. Great record. Wish I could see them live!
Rockin' Horns!.......2006-12-14
From the first note of the first track, you know that you are in for a swingin' ride. The charts are great, and the musicians are top-drawer. If you're a horn player....you're going to be jealous that you weren't selected for this recording session!
Lovely lady, lovely music!.......2005-08-10
If you like swing, this here's the thing. Fans of Lavay Smith will be pleased with what they hear. I have been a fan of Lily's for a while before I purchased her CD. I haven't been sorry since. Wonderful music with a lot of energy. I just wish she would play the east coast more often.
Lily Wilde swings!!!.......2005-05-06
This is a wonderful cd. Great arrangements played by a fine orchestra, and of course, the vocals by Ms. Wilde are as good as it gets. The only complaint I have is that this is her only recorded work that I can find. It's that good.
Great jazz and blues big band swing!.......2004-02-13
This CD is one of those sneaky surprises waiting out there in the swing music scene. Striking out from Portland, OR, Lily Wilde has produced a phenomenal album of big band swing, perfect for listening and dancing. Backed by the full Jumpin' Jubilee Orchestra, Lily Wilde lays out a series of tracks that capture the swingin' feeling of the big bands of the 1950s, like Billy May and Count Basie. It's jazzy swing with the soul of the blues...in other words, the genuine swing article, not some rock band that just stuck on a few horns and called themselves a swing band. Lily Wilde knows her musical history and knows what she likes, and that means you're guaranteed to like it as well.
Lily Wilde's voice is supremely soulful and powerful, reminding a bit of Ella Fitzgerald and Helen Humes (one of Count Basie's best female singers), but separate enough to have her own identity. She does a great job with such swingin' classics as "Mister Five by Five," "Work Baby Work," and "Oh Babe!" (my personal favorite cut from the album). These all swing smooth and very danceable, and should get a whole room of picky swing dancers jivin' and wailin'. I also enjoy the humorous "Rip Van Winkle." Lily slows it down and gets soulful and torchy on "Since I Fell for You," (the best slow number on the album) and a beautiful version of "Stormy Weather."
The band itself swings hard in a very Basie-like style, sounding like the legendary "Atomic" band from the 50s. This is most noticeable on a stand-out, mid-tempo instrumental, "Go Ahead and Rock." It's an infectious piece.
The only flaw in the album is the one bad track among the bunch, and ironically, it's the title track, "Insect Ball." The band swings fine, but the electronic manipulation of the voices and the silly lyrics cripple it. Unfortunate -- but how often do you come across an album where every track is great?
This still counts as a five-star swing recording for me. Swing fans who haven't heard Lily Wilde need to get their hands on this gem while it is still around. It's guaranteed to get you dancing again after you've worn out all your "Swing Session" albums.

Historically significant music, wonderfully performed!.......2004-06-01
Each of the composers here was a significant contributor to the Harlem Renaissance and by tune or text, these works document the coming jazz explosion. Many have never before been recorded.
For over 10 years, The VocalEssence Ensemble Singers and Chorus (conducted by Philip Brunelle) has presented an enduring series of concerts showcasing the talents of trailblazing African American composers. Now this wealth of music is available outside the concert hall through a series of recordings called WITNESS.
The other three CDs are available as single titles, or in the boxed set THE WITNESS COLLECTION which includes:
WHAT A MIGHTY GOD: Spirituals and Gospels for Chorus
DANCE LIKE THE WIND: Music of Today's Black Composers

Album Description
Wounded Bird Records presents the next 3 in a series of CD re-issues by the German jazz-fusion group Passport. This particular Passport album is interesting for is was a special concert that feature guest appearances by Buddy Guy, Les McCann, Philip Catherine & Johnny Griffin. The leader of Passport was Klaus Doldinger, appearing on all of their albums. Doldinger Jubilee '75 was originally issued in 1975.
Customer Reviews:
The Second Doldinger Jubilee album.......2005-06-07
Klaus Doldinger celebrated his silver anniversary (25 years) as a recorded artist with the Doldinger Jubilee in 1973. It worked so well, that he decided to do it again in 1975. The concept is simple, he stages a concert featuring his band, Passport, and adds a few guests. This time Phillip Catherine and Les McCann are the big names added.
The album comes out great, albeit more "staged" than the original Doldinger Jubilee -- not as spontaneous. This was, in my opinion, the best version of Passport, and when you add a guitarist with Catherine's ability, and McCann, you can't help but have a good album, and you will not be disappointed by this one.
My favorite track on the disc is Jadoo, which alone would justify buying the disc.
Passport was phenominal........2005-02-02
This was more of a supergroup than a passport album.
Klaus Doldinger led passport with some phenominal albums. In the 70's they were more along the lines of Deodato or Mahavishnu Orchestra. Then the 80's hit and they sounded more like Spyro Gyra.
This is from 1975 and features some great guest apperances. The best one is Philip Catherine. Once a member of Focus and with his solo career, he put out some AWESOME jazz/rock albums.
The standout cuts are MOST DEFINATELY: Abracadabra and Angel Wings. Compared To What is a good cover and Albatross Song isn't too shabby either.
Check them out, you won't be disappointed!

Musically speaking - Dizzy was far, far and long ago from his peaks, but this CD is a heated jam session with Marsalis, Roditi and other "young lions" of jazz trumpet. Additionally, as a special attraction, ancient Doc Cheatham who was influenced by Diz, also blows here on "Mood Indigo"; he may very well be the strongest soloist on this excellent album. Gillespie's solos at this late stage of his career are, as someone formulated it, like fallen swans (the spirit is willing but the flesh is quite another matter) but all the other musicians surrounding Diz with their love and energy make this a true jazz gem. In addition to horns, the rhythm section is also excellent.
A must have!
I listened TO DIZ WITH LOVE!!!!.......2003-10-08
I bought the cassette in the early 90's and couldn't believe my ears. I liked Dizzy's works and had other albums. But this one is my favorite. Maybe because of his death, maybe beause of the title, and maybe because it is great fun to listen to. What a personality, voice and trumpet...even in his older years. I love his Cuban influences in his music. This is the essence of Dizzy. I even enjoyed his comments when he missed a few notes. I wore the cassette tape out and now own the CD. He had class. Get it and enjoy the historical Diz!
WOA!.......2003-08-05
I just picked this album up today at a used CD store for about $7. I am totally lucky to have seen this. This is not just an album trumpet players need, but a recording ANY jazz fan needs. It's waaay cool. Wynton plays like a BAMF (as always) and every other cat on here is screamin'. Check this out, you won't be disapointed.
