My brother-in law turned me on to fertile grounds cd field songs back in 1997, and it was deep and refreshing music with a positive message on every track. I thank god every day for giving me the pleasure to hear such good music.

A true "Indie" band......... no fillers.....pure jazz soul!.......2001-12-22

BlackOut Studios along with James Collins, an independent label from B'more, MD put out two amazing CDs. I really didn't hear of Fertile Ground until thier second release. I didn't know of this CD until I seen them perform and was confused with some of the songs they were playing, wondering why I never heard of them. Found out later the songs were from an earlier release (this one). J. Collins along with the sexy strong vocals of Navasha and tight percusion by Marcus Asante makes the band work like very well oiled machine. Every vocal, every sound works as one to make this into a good jazz/soul band. Favorite gems: Soulmates, Lovin You, Patches In The Shade, Sentimental Groove, Black Sunshine, Ghetto Butterflies. Looking for SOMETHING DIFFERENT to listen to? you can't lose at all here

NICE and JAZZY.......2001-12-07

A friend of mine sent me this CD and I couldn't stop playing it. It was refreshing and relaxing. I couldn't believe that I had never heard of them. I have since spread the word about their music and purchased several copies of the CD to send to other friends. I only rated them with 4 stars becuase I wished there were more songs.
