Customer Reviews:
good memories for me and fun "new" songs for my children.......2007-06-27
We had ordered this for "The Dukes of Hazzard" theme song for our 4yr old and our whole family has fallen in love with the cd. It makes me want to share some of the old fun and simple shows with my children. I forgot about some of those shows. It brings back good memories for my husband and me and the songs are new and exciting for our children. It's a nice change from children's cd's, but our children still think it's fun. The sound quality is good and the songs included on the cd are a great mix. I would definately recommend this one.
memories.......2007-02-22
This cd is excellent it has a lot of very good music and true to the original sound, Am getting a lot of enjoyment, highly recomended
TV Theme Songs.......2007-01-13
This is a great CD for people who watch a lot of TV -especially TV LAND and reruns of old shows when shows had actual theme songs. I took the CD to work and everyone loved trying to figure out what show the songs were from.
TV themes.......2006-07-05
Not all what I expected, not all of the tunes are the original recordings you remember as the TV themes.
Deja Vu.......2006-02-17
Listening to these familiar themes as performed by the original artists certainly brings back wonderful memories! I was particularly pleased, not only with the quality of the pieces, but with the actual performances themselves, just as we remembered them!

Great CD from a now defunct band.........2007-07-03
It's an awesome CD, it features great vocals, and amazing arrangements, it is really a party CD, since when you play it, you can really enjoy some of the best eurodance/dance pop music there is.
This CD, can really change your mood if you're depressed, and turn you into a party animal
Great CD! I Recommend!.......2007-03-10
I love this group! I love this cd, and the seller sent very promptly! Great service! I only gave this cd 4 stars, because the last track was fuzzy, the English Version; It came in sounding like too much bass...but other than that, I loved all the songs, and for different reasons! My favorites are Numai Tu, and of course, Dragostea Din Tei! I would recommend this cd to anyone who likes Euro-pop, and dance music! Good Cardio Workout! lol

Very happy with product and seller! Would recomed!!
If you like different pop music from other countries then this is definitly for you!!!
Fun for kids and cool to just sing along to (well do the best that you can, since it is ukranian!)
I recomend this to anyone with a sence of humor, or you just like to boogy!!
Pure joy!.......2007-02-12
A person would have to be either hopelessly embittered or dead to not respond to this music! I got it because I am learning the Romanian language, and the lyrics are fun, beautiful, and clear. What a great surprise when it turned out that I loved all of the songs! This music is pure joy, and you can't sit still, even if you have never danced in your life. Their voices are exquisitely beautiful, and the melodies are amazingly complex. I am a musician...play cello...and I am going to transcribe these melodies for my instrument. Everyone here in America I share this music with falls in love with it, no matter what their age or tastes...this group was perfection! I am a hard rock fan, but these guys sold me in 5 seconds.
Discozone.......2007-01-15
The best of Euro Pop club music. You will not be able to sit with this music on. All I hoped for and more, I was only familiar with one song on the disc but there are no bad tracks.

Customer Reviews:
Great compilation - and that's just the first half........2005-09-14
I first got this on cassette in the summer of '94 and listened to it every day, drawn by its thematic range and compositional depth. And that was just side-one.
Elfman pioneered the sound that drives today's movie adaptations of comic-books and darker-themed children's stories. Side-One kicks things off with a rollicking, hyper-cartoonish theme from the first Pee-Wee movie - the one where Pee-Wee searches for his beloved bike. Elfman's theme contains layers of different rides - on tightropes, highways, in the middle of a NASCAR rally - which rudely yet melodically crash into each other.
The Batman entry actually contains several pieces - the opening credits, the extended sequence in the cathedral and the climax - which show Batman's darkened extreme at its "Frank Miller" best. (Dir. Tim Burton couldn't sustain the mood in the next sequel, and the franchise took a turn towards the camp of the TV series with the next 2 movies.)
The theme for "Dick Tracy" is perhaps the most romantic on this disc, a quality that surpasses the theme's comic-book origins, but ends on an ironic note that's pure Elfman.
"Beetlejuice" (opening & closing credits) gives Elfman's childish ID a chance to stretch its legs, or in this case, slam-dance.
"Nightbreed" is an enigma wrapped in a dark mystery, and that's just Elfman's score. Elfman's work on this movie is as good as the movie wasn't, having a more powerful narrative than the script - easily the best track on the entire disc, one likely to exceed the movie in its dose of chills.
"Darkman" doesn't quite rise to the occasion, though the score may be hobbled by the movie itself, which seldom surpassed one of the many "Batman" clones of the early 1990's. "Darkman" (the movie, I mean) excelled as a parody of many comicbook staples (the wronged hero, the relentless villain, the scientific breakthrough with just one flaw), but not enough to escape being largely anonymous. Within those constraints, it's still a moving if scary piece.
When is Elfman not like Elfman? When he was in the mid-late `80's and scored "Back to School" (A Rodney Dangerfield vehicle) and "Midnight Run". Horns in "School" bring it closer to Elfman's over-the-top style, while "Run" sounds like a love-theme for the run-down, out-of-the-way parts of America that seldom appear in Elfman-movies. "Run" is a fun score for a fun movie - it's nothing like Elfman's previous work but it perfectly captures the on-the-road-without-a-map craziness of the movie.
To this day, I don't know why I never ventured to Side-two, but it's irrelevant. Even half this disc is worth it
The best of Elfman!!!.......2005-09-05
I was obsessed about getting this CD right from when I heard about it. I found it at the library and was so excited about it, and it didn't let me down. In fact, it was a lot better than I expected. It's a fun and creepy (strange mix, but it really works!) collection of Danny Elfman's film and television soundtracks. The first track, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, is probably my favorite. Also, I really like Batman and Wisdom. Batman is creepy and dark, and Wisdom is just weird, in the best possible way.
I'd recommend this to anyone who likes film music, or everyone who is even the tiniest bit an Elfman fan. It's amazing!
Great Collection, A LIttle Too Eclectic.......2003-08-19
You should be able to tell from the movies and TV shows listed here whether or not you'd be interested in this collection. It's a little too eclectic for my tastes (hence only 4 stars) but better than volume 2. I think thatthe miscellaneous collected ites here along with the previously unreleased stuff should make this worth buying. Especially if you're a fan of Elfman's movie soundtrack work.
What Great Music.......2003-05-11
I fell in love with the music of Danny Elfman when Beetlejuice came out. There was something different about the music that he made. When Edward Scissorhands, and then Nightmare Before Christmas - I knew this man was a musical master. Its the verbal form of surrealism.
super.......2003-04-17
What a great CD. Danny's music is so original and inventive. this CD contains his pre 90's quirky, gothic music. it's all very well written and beautifully orchestrated. batman and darkman contain some really excellent long, dark, gothic cues that really take u away from reality. in my opinion no one, apart from howard shore, is as inventive and original as danny in the world of filmmusic. he far surpasses the repetitive works of williams or horner. buy this, and volume two, and keep supporting one of the greatest film composers of all time.ohh...and buy fellowship of the ring and two towers by howard shore....amazing work!

This mostly acoustic compilation of 13 cuts by such Windham Hill artists as William Ackerman and Michael Hedges mesh well for a soothing, even-paced (although sometimes a bit busy) musical experience that's excellent as accompaniment to a yoga routine. With a slow, steady rhythm, "The White Spirit" from French duo Uman unfolds the collection splendidly, transporting the listener to an exotic, rhythmic place perfect for focusing the mind and stretching the body. Other standouts include "Bridges" from Celtic-folk artists Nightnoise, featuring a lyrical acoustic guitar and plaintive violin; Philip Aaberg's poetic "Crying Smile"; and Patrick O'Hearn's electronic "87 Dreams of a Lifetime," whose cadences are just spirited enough to keep your body moving while still laid-back in delivery and meter. Yoga Zone is a solid collection whose only weakness lies in its demand to be listened to rather than used to underscore physical movement. --Karen Karleski

Always a popular gift.......2007-05-17
I give it to my massage therapist and friends and they always enjoy it.
Relaxing Tempo.......2007-04-10
The tracks on this CD are calm and peaceful, perfect for most Yoga routines. I personaly like a music thats a little funkier, but for those who like a slower beat and a more contemplative mood, this CD is for you.
Just what I was looking for.......2007-02-07
This is beautiful music, very relaxing and just perfect for a Yoga class. My first Yoga teacher used this music and I loved it. Now that I'm in training to become one, I will use it for the enjoyment of my students. I used it for my presentation evaluation exam, and many of my peers wanted to know what this music was, they loved it as well
Not what I was hoping to get but I kept it........2006-11-04
Did not care for the selections on this CD.

Great yoga/meditation music! My mom just couldn't get into the "average" type of meditation music, but she uses this CD a lot. She finds it very relaxing.

Beautiful Harmony.......2007-05-23
Loved their voices and harmony. I'm glad that I read various reviews and found this group listed as a "must hear". I second it.
Absolutely the best!.......2006-03-26
Words fail me, but this CD by the Fairfield Four never does. I can't remember how I found it, but it's been a strong favorite in my CD collection for years now. Impeccable performances, marvelous voices, beautiful spirit - nourishment for ears, soul and spirit. This morning I started importing CDs into my iTunes collection, and this one is on top of the stack. Thank you, Fairfield Four, for making this recording. It's truly one for the ages.
Born Again? You could be ...........2006-02-26
I first heard of The Fairfield Four in connection with the Coen Brothers film "Oh Brother Where Art Thou?" - so, quite recently then. Being an English Catholic you don't tend to hear an awful lot of American Gospel music in the UK. How many years have I wasted? This album just blew me away with the harmonies, the depth and tone and the sheer love and joy in these songs. I must have listened to it a 100 times now and it never fails to lift my spirits. Give your soul a workout and buy this album!
INNNNCREDIBLE!.......2005-10-29
Good Lord...this is music so incredible that even this agnostic (that is normally disgusted by "Christians" & their hipocracies) can happily put up with all the Born Again hogwash & references to births in Bethlehem & the Ten Commandments, to be delighted by the lush, dramatic, creative, playful harmonies that exude musical genius with every note. This is REAL music....this IS world class American music.
Powerful basso profundo, great a cappella gospel!.......2002-04-20
Isaac "Dickie" Freeman, the bass singer in this group, is the reason I love this CD so much. I got to hear this group live several years ago and was just blown away. Listen to the track "Roll Jordan Roll" and the nice smooth way the Nashville Bluegrass Band starts off. They are a great group in their own right, but when Freeman comes in and starts the rest of the Fairfield Four's contribution, it's a whole different song!
This CD was recorded before the death of some of the original members of the world's "oldest teenage group." Highly recommended!

However coy she might be in her public statements, Britney Spears leans more than a bit toward the provocative on In the Zone. Less concerned with aiming at the mainstream radio dial than in the first days of her career, she and her collaborators make this as street and club ready a record as possible. The opening duet with Madonna, "Me Against the Music," is worthy, but the bigger superstar's presence serves almost less as a performance than a key to Britney's intentions: as Madonna did on albums such as Erotica , Ray of Light, and Music, she's out to bend current trends to her needs. R. Kelly, Moby, and Ying Yang Twins all provide stirring moments that draw on everything from Bollywood to Southern hip-hop, while one of the most impressive tracks, "Touch of My Hand," joins the proud tradition of Cyndi Lauper's "She Bop." She still lacks a fully formed artistic vision of her own, but Zone, with its many get-free anthems, puts her much closer. --Rickey Wright
Album Description
Jive Recording artist Britney Spears is set to release her 4th album, In The Zone on November 18. The first single "Me Against The Music" features Madonna. Britney Spears co-wrote 7 of the 13 songs on the album. Some of the producers/writers on the album include Moby ("Early Mornin'"), Bloodshy & Avant ("Showdown"), Guy Sigsworth ("Everytime") and R. Kelly ("Outrageous").

what can I say............2007-05-27
To anyone who has ever listening to good music....I don't need to say anything but...come on it's britney....it's garbage.
Great Pop Music CD.......2007-05-04
I purchased this Britney CD recently because I'd somehow lost my Britney collection over the years due to loaning them out and household moves. I really like this CD, especially the song "Everytime." I can't wait for Britney's 5th album to come out later this year.
Birtney Spears has not yet broken out of her shell.......2007-03-20
Sure, this cover can say she looks good and trying to look hot. She's trying so hard to give off an image that's not her. She's being and mostly acts like a tramp.Have you seen her videos?
Brintey can not break out of her shell and between the rebelious and outrageous lyrics,I see a sad girl being consumed by the media.Sure, she laughs and she looks as if she is having a good time on her videos but come on!Briney hides behind her clothes and lyrics and her record deal. It's all tenn pop lyrics penned down on her notepad while she's waiting in line!
I am dissapointed and I hope she writes better songs but from the heart,go Britney!Britney rock on please!!
A very good album.......2007-03-20
Its a cool album all the songs are very catchy it is way better then the baby one more time album and the opps album and its more mature then the britney album i can listen to this more then any aaliyah album. britney this is your best cd!!!!!
Better vocals .......2007-01-13
Listening to this album I realized that Britney is a better singer than a lot of people give her credit for, but I don't think SHE has figured that out yet. She needs to start singing from her gut and soul instead of constricting her throat. She has been a studio "product" and papparazzi target for too long. I hope she doesn't try to rush out a comeback album and that she gets a fair shake from the record execs on her next project.

The first rays of sunlight pierce the morning mist, revealing a serene glade hidden deep within the forest. The gentle melodies of David Gordon's piano float through the trees, as birdsong and a bubbling stream seem to join in. The meadow awakens to the whisper on a silver flute and the pure tones of Steve Gordon's acoustic guitar. Relax and visit this peaceful place in the forest, anytime you desire peace of mind.

Complex serenity.......1999-02-03
David and Steve Gordon have converged the art of creativity, e.g. musical spirit, with Nature's sounds of life in this phenomenally peaceful collection of sound. Their skill has remained colorfully competent, bringing the listener into the cool forest of notes, gurgles and chirps. Highly recommended.

I bought the cassette tape verison of this work several years ago. I wanted to have some background music for at home activities such as: drawing, reading, and meditation.
I own about 30 other CDs and tapes of this kind of music. Misty Forest Morning is by far the best of the lot.
This very calming mix of flute, guitar, and water sounds will propel you instantly into a theta state.
Don't leave your body without it!

Awesome Set!.......2007-07-01
I am a huge fan of Jerry Goldsmith. They did a great job preserving his vision. I can listen to this collection for hours. Great music!
Elmer Bernstein Film Music Collection.......2006-11-03
This is compilation of hit film music from one of the greatest composers in motion pictures. What is surprising though is the music not included like the Ghost And The Darkness, the 13th Warrior, Rudy and others. To be sure, 4 discs are not enough for a composure of this stature. THe recording, however, is an "engineering masterpiece" which makes the music even more enjoyable than when you first heard it at the movies. When are we ging to get the music that was omittd from this compilaton?
Overall a strong Goldsmith sampler.......2006-04-11
Okay, this is a CD review, so the focus is on music, but I've got to say this first: this has got to be a contender for the ugliest cover art ever. I mean, come on...instead of a tribute to the composer, the cover looks like someone spilled a glass of merlot over a NASA photo.
Fortunately, even an ugly cover will not ruin good music. And the good news is that I'd say about 75 percent of the music is good....and on a 4 cd set, that's a lot. Like other Silva compilations, the strength of this compilation is the variety. There are selections from the big releases (Star Trek, Omen, Rambo), but there is also a healthy dose of tracks from the smaller releases(Under Fire, Lionheart, The Swarm).
Two examples come to mind. Capricorn One and The Great Train Robbery are two movies that are not exactly household names today, but are dominated by two of Goldmith's finest main themes. The City of Prague Philharmonic come through with terrific renditions. And there are plenty of other strong performances...a few being concert versions conducted by Goldsmith himself. Suprisingly, "The Wind and the Lion" works, which is no small accomplishment given the ferentic original performance of "Raisuli Attacks".
It's not a complete success. A few of the performances fall flat, particularly some of the more inventive scores. Total Recall is just bad, mangling the performance with poor percussion and synthesizer choices to boot. Also a letdown is the Klingon Attack from the first Star Trek movie. The Prague Philhamonic attempt doesn't sound bad--it's just that once you've heard the original soundtrack's "blaster beam" with enough bass to rattle your teeth...well let's just say Silva's version is a little tinny in comparison.
But I shouldn't dwell on the negative. Overall, this is a strong sampler of Goldsmith's variety. There are plenty of quality performances here, and despite a few omissions (noticeably Planet of the Apes)this is a very good release from Silva.
Jerry Goldsmith - 40 years of pleasure.......2006-02-22
It was wonderful to hear Mr. Goldsmith's music that went all the way back to The Man from UNCLE, The Waltons, Dr Kildare, etc. And then to hear his music up to the present. The man was a genius!
Almost the perfect compilation.......2005-12-31
Age has its value.... This sweeping collection of compositions brings back so many great memories. This collection shows how significant Goldsmith was for both the movie screen and the small screen. With such a grand collection, every reader can be assured that at least one movie or TV program they like or remember had Goldsmith's contribution. It was an amazing life and the collection well worth having.
However, as sweepig as it is, there are a few holes in the selection. "First Contact", one of the sweetest and richest compositions from the Star Trek is absent. "The Ghost and the Darkness" is missing and the "Medicine Man" music should include the theme song. By dwelling on several selections from the Blue Max, these were squeezed out. Three full and important movie themes got the axe.
However, all but "The Ghost and the Darkness" are readily available and not overly expensive as is the "Ghost" CD. This is a must have for the TV and movie music fan.
Before there was Hans Solo there was Napolean Solo, before ER there was Dr. Kildare. Jerry Goldsmith IS Sci-Fi. "Resistance is futile.. you MUST assimilate this CD collection."

Album Description
Zap to the Future A Ma Zone is a collision of sound and culture
Running the gamut from soul to hip hop to drum & bass, Marie Daulne's Zap Mama is expanding the perameters once again with their fourth album A Ma Zone. With the help of people like Philly's hip hop dissidents The Roots ("Rafiki", "Songe"), This Kid Named Miles ("Kemake") who was featured on T-Love's incredible Return of the B-Girl EP last year, Speech ("M'toto") and the oft-sampled Camaroonian Soul-Makossa sax man Manu Dibango ("Allo, Allo"). Zap Mama pulls off an amazing balancing act, riding the fine line between the deep roots of Afropea, the newest continent, and the technology of the future.
A Ma Zone is Marie Daulne's full immersion into the music that kept her breakdancing through high school. Reuniting long lost sounds - West African guimbiri meets West Coast hip-hop scratching - and introducing them to the big city and village fire respectively. And because hip-hop and African music were both part of her childhood, Marie's fusion of zouk guitar montunos with raw breakbeats immediately makes sense. She always preferred listen ing to Stevie Wonder and Run DMC: "Our mother would make us learn the polyphonic singing, but at the time we thought it was boring because it was traditional." Instead, Marie honed her beautifully distinct vocal skills through imitation of the sultry voice of Roberta Flack and the lip-smacking beats of the Fat Boys' "Human Beat Box."
A Ma Zone marks a lyrical shift for Marie, from politics to the social shortcomings of modern society with the emphasis being placed on the dehumanizing effects of modern communication. Marie explains: "Everybody's in such a hurry these days that everything has to be done by telephone or over the information superhighway." A Ma Zone offers listeners an alternative to life at 56k.
We've told you too much already. All you need to know is that this record is a cool R n B, hip-hop gourmet salad. An afro-euro caviar, champagne and funk mixture. "I want to show of the rest of the world the power, the human capacity, through the voices and the sounds that people forgot, the sounds people made during the day, every day . All the sounds made by humans, instinctually , the sounds can relax people, can give energy, harmonies can make you cry. The universal sounds made by humans - American, European, Asian , African, Indian, Australian and Indonesian... laughing, swallowing, coughing." Let us not forget the beautiful sound of a press release being crumpled up either.
Customer Reviews:
A wonderful and original CD.......2007-06-29
I bought this CD several years ago when I was living in the Bay Area of California. It really grew on me, and was one of the few CD's that I listen to all the way through. Every song on the A Ma Zone drew me in and made me feel like I was listening to an entire story, instead of a musical CD. A Ma Zone is made up of a number original sounding and intriquing songs. It is a good buy and I would recommend it to all.
Almost 3 months..........2007-03-27
and I haven't received the CD's that I bought.
What happened? I don't know; but I bought them on December 27, 2006 and we are on march 26!!!
So what do I have to do to get them...?

A Ma Masterpiece.......2007-02-05
This album is timeless. Every track is interesting. I hear something new every time I listen to it. I've heard that Marie has issues with being classified as world music. I will always file Zap Mama under soul because listening to it is like a massage for the soul. Peace.
A Ma Zone by Zap Mama.......2005-12-02
"A Ma Zone" THE FIRST VERSION is one of the best CDs ever made. My saddness was when I ordered some of these as gifts and found out that the new version is NOT AS GOOD :(
The second version has another song first, insteaad of Rafiki. But the worst part is that the second version sound quality is really muffled and bad.
Does anyone have a copy of the original version of this CD, the one that has "Rafiki" as its first track, that they would sell???
YET ANOTHER EXCELLENT ZAP MAMA CD!!.......2005-04-28
This is the third excellent review that I have given a Zap Mama Cd. If you listen to one of her cds, you will be 'Zapped' and want to check out her other cds. She is consistent in combining super R&B/funk with music and sounds from all over the world. She is SO VERY CONSISTENT IN MAKING GOOD, ORIGIONAL, CREATIVE SONGS that you don't get sick of hearing after 2 or 3 times. TIGHT..TIGHT..TIGHT CD....PEACE.
