I remember discovering the smooth sounds of Rodney Franklin back in the early 1980's. My sister bought the his first album, didn't like it, and gave it to me. It was through his first and subsequent recordings that I grew to savor smooth jazz. My natural affinity to jazz grew with each of Rodney Franklin's albums. This is another one of his brilliant masterpieces that doesn't get the attention and radio airplay that it certainly deserves. I wish he would share more of his musical gifts with us.

"Ocean Odyssey" is truly one of the most beautiful recordings I have ever heard in my life! I searched high and low for this CD for over a year, and finally came across it, and I am so glad I did. It surpassed my expectations, but I know the caliber of Rodney Franklin's music. He is a musical genius -- truly gifted! Each song blends into the next one and takes you on a splendid, life-affirming journey into the infinity of the majestic Pacific Ocean where you hear the wonderful and magnificent denizens of the sea. I am a longtime fan of Rodney Franklin, having listened to him since 1981. He plays the piano so beautifully, I am actually moved to tears sometimes when I listen to him. His music is truly a gift from God. I am also grateful to Bernie Krause for exposing us to the beautiful recordings of these awesome creatures. You truly do forget your worries when you're listening to Ocean Odyssey. All you want to do is to let each note seep into your soul and uplift you, which it is guaranteed to do. My personal favorites are Endless Blue, Bossa Beach and the one that I will have to listen to for the rest of my life -- Into the Deep. Mere words cannot describe the overwhelming beauty of this song. Rodney Franklin has really outdone himself with this project. I challenge anyone to listen to this without feeling affected by it. This is one hauntingly beautiful, ethereal, and spiritually-moving CD. I am in awe every time I am blessed to hear it. Thank you, so much Mr. Krause and Mr. Franklin, for collaborating on this project. You have given your listeners a priceless gift.
