There's no denying that Freddy Cole sounds a good bit like his late brother Nat. But Freddy's voice has a smoky air that helps make his interpretations of pop and jazz songs very much his own, and a restrained piano style nicely complements his singing. This jokingly titled set of 11 Michel Legrand compositions (four of them repeated from previous Cole discs) ranges from the hopeful anthem "Make the World Your Own" to breakup masterpieces such as "The Windmills of Your Mind." The best cut, though, may be a long, ruminative version of "On My Way to You" that celebrates true love while pondering the possibility that a wrong turn somewhere might have led in a very different, wrong direction. --Rickey Wright

Freddy C revisited.......2007-05-19
Preparing a radio show I revisited this CD and the years had not diminished the magic.
Freddy's voice is "smoother than the armpit of a wet frog" and from out of nowhere my 21 year old son-in-law came into the office and said, "Who is that, he's great!"
So take the time to listen again to this fine collection of songs from this wonderful tunesmith worth adding to your collection.
a new twist .......2007-04-14
If you are a LeGrand and Cole fan, you will love this release. I agree with the reviewers that some of the songs were 'worn out' done so many different ways by so many other artists but Freddy puts a new spin on them with his impeccable phrasing, as well as the wonderful instrumental interpretations. The combination of these 2 elements makes the old seem new and fresh again. Definitely a must to add to your Cole collection.
Freddy is Grand!.......2001-12-31
You must have this cd if you love songs sung in an easy, quiet manner, with attention to and understanding of the meaning of the lyric. On My Way to You, You Must Remember Spring, I Will Wait for You and How Do You Keep the Music Playing are my particular favorites, but every track brings joy to the listener. Put this on you player, climb into your easy chair, close your eyes and let yourself be engulfed by the mature, languid, lush song stylings of my favorite singer.
Even better than his last album.......1999-10-30
I have to admit I enjoyed this even more than Love Makes the Changes. Freddy's voice and his sidemen make a fabulous combination with the LeGrand songs. Even when Freddy slows it down (such as in How Do You Keep the Music Playing?) the music sizzles. I Will Wait For You and Windmills of Your Mind were never favorite songs of mine...until I heard this album, which gives them an incredible freshness and musicality.
