Album Description
SNAP! have become a true `hit machine' and amassed countless awards in the process. After The Power, Anzilotti and Muenzing released further mega-sellers such as Ooops Up, Cult of SNAP! and Mary Had a Little Boy on their label Logic Records, all of which soared to the top places in the European charts. Music for the dancefloor is normally regarded as an ephemeral, transient commodity: here today, gone tomorrow. Something that the Frankfurt-based producer team Matthias Muenzing and Luca Anzilotti, better known as Snap!, have now been disproving for over 13 years.
The debut album World Power (originally released in 1990) counts as one of the most successful dance albums worldwide with well over seven million LPs sold. The mega hit, The Power, has long become one of the most played music tracks in the world and has made musical history.
Album Description
2004 reissue of the male/female dance duo's 1993 album features 10 tracks including Snap's biggest hit, 'The Power' (Original Mix & Jungle Fever Mix), as well as 'Oops Up' (a remake/take off of the Gap Band's nonsensical funk riff 'Oops Upside Your Head'). SPV.
Customer Reviews:
A Blueprint of Dance Music.......2005-04-25
Snap brought a new sound on the dancefloors at the end of the 80's. "The Power" introduced Turbo B. as a rapper and a frontman of this project, the music was made by Anzilotti & Muenzing - the producers that signed their work as Benito Benites and John "Virgo" Garrett III and mostly stood in the background, out of the public's attention, producing in their studio. "The Power" was build around the tiny drum-loop taken from Mantronix's "King Of The Beats" and then Turbo B and Penny Ford's vocals were added. Turbo B with his ferocious style and powerful voice established himself as a dominant force in Snap's albums and live acts. "The Power" track had everything to become a dancefloor hit: a funky beat, Turbo B's raps, Penny Ford's strong voice and a great melody. Their next single "Ooops Up" is also a very interesting track formed on a vocal hook "Say Ooops Upside Your Head" taken from the funky-disco classic by The GAP Band, but what really got me into it is the beat - hard kick drums and the hi-hats taken from Eric B. & Rakim's "Paid In Full" - as well as Turbo B's story based on the mistakes. "Cult Of Snap" has 4-to-the-floor beat and dominating brass adding the oriental touch while "Mary Has A Little Boy" is a more subtle piano-(Hip)-house track. "Believe The Hype" refers to "Don't Believe The Hype" by Public Enemy and has a dark bassline which fits perfectly to the chunky beat and cowbells similar to the ones in "The Power". "I'm Gonna Get You (To Whom It May Concern)" is a nice pop-ballad, while "Witness The Strength" and "Blase Blase" step into the Old Skool Rap arena, the latter even containing famous James Brown "Funky President" break, then very much used in the Rap music, combined with 808 sound. "Only Human" means Only Human BeatBox, Turbo B's making beats and the "Planet Rock"/"Trans Europe Express" melody eventually breaks in - this is the stuff that Turbo B become known by in the 80's, he was doing beatbox performances for the Fat Boys. "The Power (Jungle Fever Mix)" is a nice eerie remix, where Turbo B's busting the additional verse that's not included in the original.
The style Snap presented on this album, a style that is very similar to C+C Music Factory, was very much accepted by the artists like BG The Prince Of Rap and Black Man's Wagon - it was Euro-Dance but based on hip-hop beats (breakbeats), had longer rap verses and strong female vocals in hooks, and powerful melodies. The style became massive in early 90's with Hip-House and Piano-House until around 1992 when it all became Euro-Dance, with influences from Trance and Techno/rave music.

The rulers of Techno!.......2005-08-13
'I've got the power!!' The line that ruled the dance floor in the mid 90's, and is still frequently used on radio stations and parties today. Also featured is the equally brilliant 'Rhythm is a Dancer'. 'Attack: The Best of Snap, Remixes & All' is a must for the collection of anyone into Techno, or anyone who wants to dance like an idiot again to 'I've got the power!'
It's the bomb!.......2001-06-19
I have the european 2-CD edition and all I can say it's great as well as other Snap's releases. Snap was a euro-dance project created in Germany, most of their tracks were marked as commercial and some of the remixes here also. But this compilation features various trance-techno remixes and dubs which are surprisingly far away from the sound of Snap we all know.
Snap confuses everybody with weird releases.......1999-11-20
Coming over from Europe I already found out that German act Snap in their peak (early to mid 90s) has gone through many female vocalists and their Madman's Return album has been re-released about 4 times with different track listings. The idea the guys behind Snap had was that after they ditched rapper Turbo B after the first "Madman" release (and the only one available in the US), they had to redo the album eliminating the raps of Turbo B, I guess they didn't like him very much. After that they jumped on the eurodance/house bandwagon and started making tunes like "Eternity" and "Exterminate" and re-shaped "Colour of love" and "Rhythm is a Dancer" eliminating the rapper. The best of compilation further confuses things. In Europe they released a regular best of (available as import), containing all the singles. Also a remixes 2CD was released (unavailable in US). The US release of Snap Attack contained some remixes and some singles.Leaving out regular single cuts and including two mediocre mixes of "Colour of love" is strange to say the least. Highlights include "The Power" (the complete version), Rhythm is a Dancer (no rapper) and the Ooops up live mix. But where are "Welcome to tomorrow", "Do you see the light", "Rame" etc. Go with the import best of
Very good release !.......1999-06-20
Like the name of this album says, it's the best of remixes of Snap! I always search for the 12" Mix of Rhythm Is A Dancer and the Original Single of The Power, and I've found theses collection pieces on this album. Some pieces are bad, but remixes are very good ! Don't buy other CD of Snap ! Buy it ! You won't regret it !!

Album Description
Essential compilation of the best of one of Britain's most influential bands of the late 70's / early 80's. 20 tracks. Universal. 1990.
Album Details
Digitally Remastered Edition of the Jam's First Anthology that was Originally Released as a Double LP. When the Full Tracklist of the LP Wouldn't Fit on a Single CD, Polydor Created this Abridged Collection. It's a Perfect Introduction to Paul Weller's Early Years and his Most Prolific When the Band Ruled the UK Pop Charts. While all the Tracks Come from their Various LPs and EP'S, it is Notable that the Version of "Funeral Pyre" is a Remix Version and the Demo Version of "That's Entertainment" is a Different Take Than the One that Appears on the Compilation Box Set "Direction Reaction Creation".
Customer Reviews:
How good is this?.......2007-04-14
The Jam never made it in America and were completely unknown to me until reviewers started namechecking them in seemingly every third Green Day review circa 1994. Discovering them is a richly rewarding experience and this is probably the best place to do it (although "Greatest Hits" has a very similar track list and is more readily and cheaply availible). The record starts in '77 with the Jam as a razor-sharp, mod-influenced punk band and follows the band as growth and experimentation leaves them in almost neo-soul territory by the time they split in the mid 80s. Along the way, one can revel in Paul Weller's genius songwriting and the band's crisp playing--especially Bruce Foxton's spunky bass.
Even 30 years on, every track virtually explodes with tunefulness and energy. I can think of few bands EVER who are simply this much fun to listen to and whose tunes have stayed so fresh for so long. Essential.
Pretty Much All You Need.......2005-09-29
The Jam are one of my favorite bands. They're also largely a singles band, something fans more rabid than I are loathe to admit. With some bands, it's worth the while to be a completist. With The Jam, this CD should be more than enough for anyone. I can see why the vinyl geeks would complain that, say, Eaton Rifles is from a concept album, but who really cares? It stands fine on its own. The songs on here were picked in such a way that you get the best combination of the band's great musicianship and Paul Weller's lyricism. If you appreciate Punk Rock, Mod Beat, Britpop, or just well played, energetic, tuneful music, this is an essential buy.
Soulful Modern Rock.......2003-01-25
Great music. The best of the Jam's music is summarized on this CD and on "The Jam Collection". It's a great set of songs, played with passion and precision.
Still the best single-disc Jam compilation available.......2002-06-28
Here's yet another misunderstood relic from the early days of the CD format that drives many folks into conniptions. What many of today's music buyers don't seem to realize is that CD pressing plants initially could not guarantee that discs longer than 60-65 minutes in length would play properly on all CD players. Combined with the trappings of the industry's own hype (which touted the CD's 74-minute storage capacity), labels tried wherever possible to make sure all albums released on the CD format would fit on a single disc.
Thus, Snap! was "re-compiled from the double album and cassette...and omit[ted] eight tracks to make it suitable for a single compact disc." To differentiate it from the complete album and cassette editions, the title was changed to Compact Snap.
Compact Snap - which was my proper introduction (apart from the videos for "Absolute beginners", "Start!", and "A town called malice", which MTV used to play in its early days) to the band - is still the best of the single-disc Jam compilations I've encountered. I've never been all that fond of "News of the world" or "Funeral pyre", but the rest of the set is untouchable, hitting many of the band's highlights - among them "In the city", "Going underground", "That's entertainment", "Start!", "A town called malice", and "Beat surrender" - while chronicling the progress of the band from its beginnings in the midst of the punk era to the more overt soul influences of its later records.
From the guitar riff that opens "In the city" to the pure joy that is "Beat surrender", Compact Snap reveals The Jam to be easily the most vital band of its era. Whether your preference is for the former, the latter, or somewhere in between, there's no denying the band's energy and passion - two things that no band should be without.
Completists should note that the version of "Funeral pyre" included here is a remix, and that the demo version of "That's entertainment" differs from the demo found on the Direction, Reaction, Creation box set.
Too compact.......2002-05-08
"Snap", in its original LP issue, was perhaps one of the best group compilations ever assembled, encapsulating the Jam's journey from Who-influenced punk to the wonderful admixture of ska and soul that marked their final years. I can mark my changing tastes via the four sides of the record, having been in my youth a Side 1 advocate (that's where all the punk ones were, from "In the City" to "Mr. Clean," if I recall correctly) to now, when i'm a Side 3 and 4 man (roughly "Going Underground" to "Beat Surrender.")
Unfortunately, this all-too-compact version of Snap diminishes the sense of having the Jam's entire career to peruse. Too many important songs were axed. Here's what's missing: the great, desperate "Away from the Numbers" and "Billy Hunt", the gorgeous "English Rose" and "Butterfly Collector", "Thick as Thieves"! merely one of their finest songs, as is the deleted "Tales from the Riverbank". Other victims were "Man in the Cornershop" and "Mr. Clean."
There's too much great music on this abridged "Snap" for it to be marked down too severely, but it's a shame that is all we now have. With the passing of the LP edition, thus went the only economical way to enjoy the Jam in full-- now you either choose riches (the numbingly extensive [money] five-disc import box set) or famine (this inadequate set, and the other single-disc compilations that all miss the boat in some way).
A reissued 2-disc Snap, with all the original tracks restored, plus supplemented if needs be with the few gems left off the original Snap (Boy About Town, etc), would be the best of all worlds-- one day, maybe.

Not His Best.......2005-02-02
Like putting a wild animal in a cage, putting Albert Collins in a studio suppresses his natural exquisiteness. Mr. Collins was a hard driving, soul piercing blues guitarist who excelled in front of live audiences. He's not Ashlee Simpson. In this studio album his awesome power is watered down somewhat.
It's still a good CD. If you like it, then get one of his live albums, but make sure you have something to hold on to because it may very well blow you away.
If you love the guitar like you say.......2002-11-25
Then you need this as well as many more Albert Collins CD's. Master of the Telecaster he certainly was. I challenge anyone to replicate the riffs and tone of this journeyman bluesman. While you may not get it exactly right, one can imitate Muddy Waters and Buddy Guy and Clapton; just try to imitate Albert Collins, and you will be humbled.
If you are not familiar with this great "guitarists' guitarist," theyn you need to be. A great studio album as an into to his live work. A tragic loss too soon, that all Blues lovers must feel.
Albert Collins With A Twist!.......2002-05-23
Albert Collins' best studio recordings are probably "Frostbite", which has ample doses of the telecaster tone Collins has become famous for, and "Frozen Alive", which features Collins supported by a five piece band with a take no prisoners attitude and the outstanding sax of AC Reed. Close on the heels of those recordings is "Cold Snap". "Cold Snap" is Collins seventh Alligator release and the twelfth of his career. The disc features horns aplenty, a little funk guitar courtesy of Mel Brown and the famed organ of jazzier Jimmy McGriff. While the disc may bring to mind more James Brown than T-Bone Walker or Clarence Brown, there is no mistaking Collins' explosive guitar sound. If there is a downside to this disc it's probably "I Ain't Drunk" which may have sounded good in its day but is hardly worth listening to today. Bright spots include "Hooked On You" and the slow burner "Too Many Dirty Dishes". Overall, Collins' third best studio release.
Collins wails.......2000-04-27
This is the first album that I have heard by Albert Collins, but I will definitely be getting more. Albert makes his Fender Telecaster scream, cry, and shout, playing it as if it were an extension of his own body. If you like your blues upbeat and ferocious, this album is for you. Also check out Showdown with Collins, Robert Cray and Johnny Copeland.
A Good Fool is Hard to Find.......2000-03-01
Turn up the bass, crank up the volume, and shuffle your way down the highway with this one, folks. If you're looking for music that'll get you rockin' and kickin', and dustin' off those Stormy Monday blues, then this is one CD that'll do the trick nicely.
Accompanied by some of the greatest bluesmen around, Albert icepicks his way through some of the hottest (coldest?) tunes around. Nobody does a groove like Johnny Gayden, his bassist; Jimmy McGriff lends his talents on the keyboards (you won't hear a better Hammond B-3 anywhere); and the Uptown Horns add great accents as always.
Some of the tracks I recommend checking out: Bending Like a Willow Tree / A Good Fool is Hard to Find / I Ain't Drunk / Too Many Dirty Dishes
Wish I could play as good as Albert did...
Peace Out.

Snap - An amazing dance music!.......2004-05-22
Ever since the 90's Snap! has been all over the clubs around the world. This collection of remixes and original hits is something that should be in every collection of both Snap! fans and dance music fans.
The remix disc represents new updated versions of their hits. Europe's hottest DJ's gathered together with permission of Snap! producers to create collection with has span of 5 hit remix singles that ruled European charts in the last couple of years. It was perfect timing to release these songs all over again so that clubbers all over the world can experience the powerful NRG tracks. It was about time for people to remember Snap! before they unleash their comeback towards the end of 2004. BUY THIS NOW, play it and be taken to the world where pure energy lifts you high into the sky. This is a dance music in pure meditation form whether you're in your bed or on a dance floor somewhere in the club. This is universal dance music. These remixes give nee life to these tracks. CJ Stone mix of Rhythm Is A Dancer is a classic. What a track this is! One of the best tracks ever. Video is amazing as well.
Original hits are also a good addition. The only bad thing about it is that it doesn't contain original versions of Welcome To Tomorrow, Rame and The World In Your Hands, which were all singles from Welcome To Tomorrow, album from 1995.

Greatest greatest hits of The Jam.......2007-05-14
I had this on vinyl and its unusable now. It was one of my last vinyl purchases and I just HAD to replace it.
The Jam where my all times favorite group back in the early 80s (when I was running around in very tight trousers and black trenchcoats) but I could never find all the songs and all the singles together, untlil SNAP!.
If you don't know The Jam, you are missing one very important piece of music history and culture.
Snappy collection of essential Mod-Rock.......2006-05-13
Paul Weller is often seen as Daddy Britpop. Maybe even more than the Beatles, he was the main influence behind the Britpop revival in the nineties. Bands as Oasis, Supergrass and the Verve all got to pay their dues to Mister Weller and it all started with the Jam.
The Jam rose to legendary status during the dawn of Punk rock. Although they never sounded as raw as the Sex Pistols or the Clash they are considered to be one of the greatest bands of that generation. Their sound is deeply indebted to Northern Soul, Funky and thrilling. Their songs were Snappy pop gems, pure working-class poetry. Unlike other Punk Rockers, their image was pristine, with cool sharp cut suits or expensive leisure wear. They were almost a movement on their own within the Punk scene.
Snap was originally released as a double vinyl (remember those) and then comprised to a single disc. Because not everything of the original vinyl release fitted on a single disc eight tunes were cut form the release. The bonus EP that came with the original release disappeared all together. For decades fans had to make do with either the complete discography on disc or lacking compilations. This atrocity is finally set right with the re-release on disc of Snap in it original form, including the EP and a beautiful booklet. This truly is a must have for anyone interested in British music and an essential for any Punk Rock fan.

The third album, Welcome To Tomorrow, brought forth hit singles such as The First Last Eternity and Welcome To Tomorrow. With this album the duo wrote a further chapter of their success story. In line with the zeitgeist at that time, the ten songs sounded more ambient and trance-oriented, yet without sparing any driving rhythms.

Snap World Power... Don't Believe the Hype.......2005-08-07
Only 1 track out of 8 is worthwhile. Which is "The Power". The other songs were a waste of time. I got caught up in the hype
back in 1990. Finally clearing out my old collection & selling it
on Ebay in 2005. Thank goodness for MP3.
World power by snap.......2001-05-18

The power is the best dance song... perhaps ever!.......2001-03-17
But the rest of Snap's material is just ok. Were it not for The Power i'd probably rate this as a 2 star disc
Like the crack of a whip they SNAP attack !.......2000-07-29
One of the best techno house dance music groups of all times,SNAP is revolutionary in all aspects.Anzilotti & Munzing have been on this road called success for over 10 years. That I know it all started when both formed a house music group called 16 BIT ,who generated a hit called HI SCORE (it's TUBULAR !).This track is full of ATARI bleeps, powerful vocals,Japanese like chants ( a sample of this is found on EXTERMINATE(DG MIX),which is available on SNAP!ATTACK - the (brilliant) REMIXES) .Then,a year later or so they introduced SNAP to the world. And the world would never be the same. All nations, discos, radio stations,DJs and MTV(I don't like it at all) discovered the POWER of SNAP!All the tracks here became great hits, except the last one, which is also a must.Rapper Turbo B is as good as Chuck D of Public Enemy(of course,he pays homage to him all the time.Chuck D and Turbo B are the best)and the mesmerizing, hypnotic beats, dazzling vocals and instrumental/DJ work are simply among the best in DANCE MUSIC.Every decent dance music compilation features at least one SNAP masterpiece (generally THE POWER or RHYTHM IS A DANCER).If you still don't know the POWER of SNAP start listening to this, and then after becoming addicted to SNAP,enjoy the other SNAP ALBUMS and gorgeous REMIXES.
You don't know what you are missing!!!.......1999-03-01
I can't believe no one has anything to say about this album. I got it when it came out, it looks like it now has a different cover. It is a powerful debut album, with something for everyone. It blends rap, rock, dance, r&b in a way no one had done before. I hate rap, and I love this album. It is not full of the twisted hate issues of rap, it is not the teeny bopper themes of so much rock, it is the soul searching (with some fun and self-humor thrown in) that only people like The The, Haddaway, Sylvester, Laurie Anderson, and Peter Gabriel (who tends to be more morose), David Byrne, Brian Ferry, Eurythmics, and Anne Clark can do. (Ok, there's others). They all have their own styles, and Snap! has theirs. If you appreciate the artists for what they say as much as the music they put out, you need to have this album!
