Cybill back in 'finer' form.......2006-01-17
Cybill Shepherd has returned with a very sweet, mostly smooth album. As always I prefer when she sticks to standards, but the mix found here is fine. Her voice seems much more controlled than on her previous disc. The fact that this was recorded at her home really gives it a personal and warm feel and it's reflected in her voice. She seems very at ease and doesn't push as much as she tends to when she's singing live w/ an audience.
I've mentioned this in another review (I think) but if she or someone working her would put together an album of ONLY STANDARDS, and record them in the style that "Blue Moon" and "I Told ya I Love ya, Now Get Out" were done on the Moonlighting soundtrack, I believe she'd have comeback vehicle that would deserve attention. Cybill has too fine a voice to waste it singing 'pop-like' boring songs that don't suit her range.
I highly recommend this album if you're a fan of hers, or if you're just a fan of female vocalists, you should take the time and try Cybill Shepherd's previous albums as well. I think you'll find many songs to your liking!
