On this solo CD, guitarist Marc Ribot takes a break from his Afro-Latin dance group, Los Cubanos Postizos. With his biting and twangy electric and acoustic plectral tones, Ribot turns well-known tunes such as the Leonard Bernstein/Stephen Sondheim show tune "Somewhere" and the Beatles' "Happiness Is a Warm Gun," into spacey, left-of-center sound collages full of bite and humor. John Zorn's "Book of Heads" rings with a Middle-Eastern tone and Ribot's takes on the spiritual "Go Down Moses" and the classic "St. James Infirmary" highlight his debt to gospel and the blues. The title track and "Witches and Devils," both penned by saxophonist Albert Ayler, provide the best showcases for Marc Ribot's bold, six-stringed excursions into uncharted sonic territory. --Eugene Holley, Jr.

Album Description
In a remarkable career spanning six decades, singer-songwriter Paul Simon has amassed 9 Grammy awards and has been inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice. The first occasion recognized has brilliant work as one half of Simon & Garfunkel. Simon's second induction, in 2001, heralded his equally massive contributions as a solo artist and composer. The songwriter's solo catalog is one of the most diverse, literate, adventurous, and musically rich in all of popular music. Today regarded as one of the greatest composers of the rock n' roll era, Simon is an American treasure, now celebrated by these five expanded and remastered classic albums.
Customer Reviews:
the rhythm still moves me fifteen years later............2007-06-08
Who knew that Paul Simon (of Simon & Garfunkel fame) had so much raw, untapped music inside? Yes, Simon brought us great music in the 1960s as the Simon in the Garfunkel duo ("The Boxer," "Sounds of Silence," "Mrs. Robinson," to name just a few of their hits), but it rare that we heard him so free. Maybe we have the surroundings of the Brazilian rainforest to thank for liberating him. RHYTHM OF THE SAINTS is probably one of the strongest albums I have heard by Paul Simon, and he has a great clean sound, along with the collaboration of tradional Brazilian musicians, who add in ago-go and numerous percussive instruments from their repertoire, into the mix. Think of it as soul/jazz meets Indigenous funk. Hard to imagine? It was hard for me, too. If you want a good example of this sound, listen to "The Obvious Child," "She Moves On" (featuring Brazilian vocalist Milton Nascimento) and "Spirit Voices." Once this rhythm gets in your blood, it's hard to shake it out of your system.
listen to it.......2007-05-22
This is a spectacular album. The music and arrangements are effortless, seriously, out of hundreds of CDs, this is one of the best I have. It was made by a bona fide master of songwriting, a subtle talent, who made something beautiful and lasting.
What is he saying, though? Is it just me, or is he making a mockery of himself and his insular life, like Phil Collins' "Another Day in Paradise?" It celebrates the honesty of the South American, or overall third world people, as opposed to himself. Simon contemplates the meaning of life as a rich, white man with all his rich, white friends.
"Had a lot of fun, had a lot of money / had a little son, thought we'd call'im Sonny" I mean, he's laying a thick layer of mockery on his own peers, calling them idiots who treat the miracle of life as just another product. Spend those Eurodollars from Washington to Tokyo? More of the same.
He's defecting on his own social group, needling them but never explicitly revealing that he is speaking in jest. This is a betrayal, an insider's testimony of beautiful, relaxing melodies, as if rich people inhabit this relaxing, pleasurable world every day. That does not mean Simon agrees with it. Just that he is learned what it's about, and is showing us.
But Simon also celebrates the real, earthy qualities inherent in the Brazilian beats and vocals. The multiple levels (and tongue-in-cheek concept delivery) make this an album that allows a greater meaning to emerge without even saying it exactly. It's not Rage Against the Machine, but the idea is similar.
The Rhythm of the Saints.......2007-05-13
The product is what I expected. It arrived on time and in the condition advertised.
a good album.......2007-01-12
Paul Simon is a artist in the true sense of the word. This album, while not quite up to the standard of "Graceland" is still a rewarding and enjoyable listening experience.
Paul Simon does it again........2006-07-18
This album is reminiscent of Graceland in its rich native tones. I enjoyed Graceland more as I felt that it was more upbeat overall. The Rhythm of the Saints is a fun listen on its own, but also makes great background music for entertaining, tasks or driving.

Customer Reviews:
Great Compulation at a Bargin Price.......2007-01-16
Just added this to an order for fun, I enjoy ultra modern music, but not new age, what a miss nomer. I have researched and purchased additional music because of the selects on this CD.
Great Representation.......2007-01-10
"Compounds" is a great representation of this label's acts. I especially liked the John Cale numbers, and of course Eno's contribution. Particularly interesting was Vacabou. All in all,a very good collection and a good buy.
A True Bargain.......2006-08-18
I bought "Distance" by Marconi Union and had this CD as part of the package. I couldn't believe that it was only $2.99, and after listening to it, I still don't believe that it was going for that price. This is an excellent array of talent on a sampler CD, worth many times the price, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to find out what All Saints records is all about.
Cheap, Good..........2006-06-21
Some of the highlights on this compilation are the Eno tracks from The Drop, Nerve Net, and The Shutov Assembly. The non-Eno tracks are consistently good as well, particularly Budd's track from The White Arcades. For a sampler, the album has a really good sequence to it. It has a sort of This Mortal Coil effect on you, where every track is unique but it adds up to a consistent whole. Aural Wallpaper indeed.
Essential ambient music, past and present........2006-06-04
This is a fascinating guide to ambient music, past and future. All the major innovators of the genre are present, Brian Eno, Harold Budd, Jon Hassell and John Cale demonstrate their own unique talents over an array of classic tracks drawn from the All Saints Records back catalogue. However, this is only part of the story, after an extended period of silence All Saints have recently begun releasing albums by new acts and Compounds showcases tracks by two of their recent discoveries including the highly acclaimed, Marconi Union, who contribute their dazzling track, Sleepless to the album, and effectively map out their vision of future directions for this music, while demonstrating just why they are being seen as important new voices on the European electrionic music scene. Alongside this Spanish duo Vacabou add their beguiling brand of trip-hop to the mix and we are left with the sense that ambient music is alive, well and flourishing in safe hands.

Salute to America.......2006-07-27
Very similar in quality and music to I Love A Parade and a very upbeat reminder of why we are a patriotic nation. The arrangements and quality of the songs are great.
A good choice but..........2005-06-29
It is not the best CD that I have bought but it is an honest one. The orchestration is good, the choice of tunes is excellent and the tunes are well played. As you know, it is always difficult to say : I like it or I hate it because hearing a CD is a question of personal point of view. In my case, I may not say that I like it or I hate it, I prefer some other orchestration but it us a good CD.
Ho-Hum.......2005-06-08
I wanted some rousing marching music. This album is half asleep. The sound quality is poor. Apparently Mr. Williams writes better music than he conducts.
"Boston Pops".. Alway's do the Job!.......2001-10-03
John Williams/Boston Pops.. Salute to America.
And they do! They salute America! This is a wonderful C.D
Battle Hymn of the Republic, is great..
New York, New York, will bring tears to your eyes!
12 renditions in all..
All these are performed wonderfully, and well worth the money!
I would recommend this to anyone who loves patriotic music, it will stir the heart and soul of Americans....
Full-Spirited.......2000-09-02
I'm a classical music/opera person for the most part. But I find this CD entralling. Even the organization of the CD is ideal-almost like a symphony--with the rousing Candide Overture and the musical medleys at the beginning, the patriotic songs as the B section, and the Dixieland and other music from American musicals to finish up. And I particularly like the orchestration of the medleys. A wonderful CD.

What goes around comes around ambient. That's the message from a third generation of electronica artists who were just leaving the womb when Brian Eno's early works were being diffused in the 1970s. They were barely teens when the Orb rolled forth in the '90s. But new artists like Boards of Canada, the Album Leaf, and Explosions in the Sky are taking those early ambient primers and adding geometries of glitch and dream guitar to the mix, creating a melodic brand of ethereal music with an edge. Marconi Union, a Manchester duo, follow suit on a CD that travels in cinematic melancholy and textural malaise. Their songs build slowly, emerging out of a flattened landscape of static and stillness to attain a quietly triumphal beauty. Percussion is almost subliminal in journeys that pulse more than groove. It sometimes gets ominous, with an ostinato bass growl prowling through a Blade Runner landscape on "Inter." But usually they generate a quiet awe, like the slow build of "Sleepless." Expect to hear tracks from Distance in soundtracks and commercials near you soon. --John Diliberto
Album Description
Marconi Union is a reclusive electronic duo from Manchester, England. Their sound has been described as "a post rock cinematic orchestra." Distance, their first U.S. release, is unique, individual and timeless, fusing acoustic sounds, strings and pianos with electronica, post-rock guitars and even occasional nods towards jazz and dub. Described by the band as "a soundtrack to a film that has not yet been made," listening to Distance evokes the feeling of being driven silently around an unknown city at night, observing the activity and life of the urban sprawl in safety and isolation.
Customer Reviews:
re: Celestial Melodies Great Work Album.......2007-06-22
This album resonates with beauty... the music provides you with a very thought provoking journey. If you want to transcend your current time and place, just put this album on and you will be transported by the delicate yet etheral melodies.. it is an album with tremendous beauty. I cannot recommend a album more, it relaxes me and gives me insight into what I am doing. Absolutely fantastic album to listen to while at work...
The Interpretation of Dreams.......2007-04-30
At the end of the previous century, Brian Eno's genius, expressed through his various ambient works, set an insurmountable barrier for those that they chose to follow his pattern. To put it bluntly, he set a standard that nobody managed even to come near to. (Maybe his brother came close, but he was still lacking Brian's imagination and mood to discover).
All these until Marconi Union and their Distance work. Dreamy atmosphere, almost psychoanalytic, moving in all senses. A perfect link to Eno's Music For Films sequel. A perfect step towards ambient fulfillment.
It is really hopeful that such groups exist and needless to say, we are truly looking forward to their next work.
Energy transfer.......2007-02-13
There is an exhange of energy that takes place for me when I listen to Distance. Not only do I experience de-stressing and decompression, there also comes a palpable energy transfer while listening to these selections.
The first step in the transfer is the way Distance draws the toxicity of my day out of me, leaving me pleasantly drained. The second step of the process, then, is how the movement within each track subtly softens and salves the chisel-bitten edges of my consciousness. In the third step, as fresh fluid trickles in, I am refilled and renewed.
After a day of dying little, moment-by-moment deaths, Distance breathes life back into me, slowly, slowly, and almost imperceptibly.
If you have ragged edges, if you have wounds, this can be a balm for you.
Very Soothing.......2007-01-24
Nice Album! Very peaceful textures that are perfect for relaxing/Yoga/Meditation etc. I would not consider this New Age, it's more modern Ambient with some modern electronics. There are quite a bit of interesting sounds here even guitars. The product description here says: "a Manchester duo, follow suit on a CD that travels in cinematic melancholy and textural malaise. Their songs build slowly, emerging out of a flattened landscape of static and stillness to attain a quietly triumphal beauty. Percussion is almost subliminal in journeys that pulse more than groove" I think that is a very good way of describing this album. Good Stuff.
Urban Longing.......2007-01-24
Marconi Union's Distance album is a warm embrace of ambient textures with drifting melodies and haunting memories filled with dreamy longings. If you can't sleep, put this in your CD player/stereo and climb into a warm bath. The music is well suited to relaxation, reading late at night or simply dissolving into a memorable mood.
"Through Glass" is more sensuous, while "Buildings and People" has a more luminous trajectory with the feeling that a city has been left completely empty, it is almost haunting in beauty. "A Temporary Life" has shy jazz flourishes, but overall seems to be melting into the night.
The urban moods build on each other until you feel completely relaxed. This album has hints of places you like to be and it seems to call you to distant locations where you'd like to spend more time dreaming.

Beautiful.......2007-06-14
This CD is a must have for any Mormon Tabernacle Choir fans. The music is very reverent and gentle, and should also appeal to those not from the LDS church, seeing as how most of the music is common to the wider Christian community. This CD is a fantastic addition to any music collection.
A few bright spots, but also some disappointments.......2007-01-19
It Is Well With My Soul is one of my favorite-favorites and that is the main reason why I bought the CD; it turned out to be a huge let down on this album, they rearranged it so much that I almost didn't recognize it. Be Still My Soul is another reason why I bought it and it's good, but not great. Swing Low Sweet Chariot is where it starts to get good. The last two songs "Thou Gracious God, Whose Mercy Lends"
and "Come, Let Us Anew" are very good reasons to buy this CD, they each have truely powerful passages and make the CD worth having. The Mormon Tabernacle Choirs 2006 release entitled Then Sings My Soul is by far the best that I've heard from them.
This CD Deserves SIX Stars!.......2005-11-05
However, the rating scale has a limit of five. I own over 700 CDs of virtually every type of music. Peace Like A River belongs in a class by itself! I've never written a review before but, after listening to this STUNNING performance by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, I feel compelled to share my praise with that of the five other reviewers. If I were limited to one word, I would use the word "SUPERB" to describe this beautiful and moving CD. SIX stars for Peace Like a River! BRAVO!!!
every good adjective .......2005-08-06
This album is all beauty and solace. The singing is pristine, the arrangements lush and often stirring--never saccharine. As with the previous reviewer, my first listing of "Peace Like a River" brought me to tears (especially "Peace Like a River," the sopranos in "Swing Low," and the bagpipes in "Thou Gracious God"). Buy this one.
Fabulous!.......2005-05-29
The perfect recording to help you recover from a long, hard day. Showcasing the MTC's "new" sound in contemporary choral arrangements with its own orchestra and conductor, "Peace Like a River" brought tears to my eyes in selection after selection during my first listen -- and I'm not normally an emotional person! The title song together with "Deep River," "Swing Low" and "Be Still My Soul" are alone worth the cost of the recording. Get this one!

Very pleased.......2007-06-10
I wasn't sure what to expect when I bought this CD. True, I could have listened on line before buying but that would have taken the fun out of the purchase. Besides, I really didn't care for the CD the first couple of times I listened but now I really love it. It's not something to listen to all the time but given the right circumstances e.g. a small gathering of friends, it's perfect. If I'd listened to online, I wouldn't have purchased it.
Sumptuous and mellow.......2002-11-28
The six men of the King's Singers present sweet and light-hearted madrigals of such English composers as Morley, Weelkes, Dowland, Wilbye and Byrd. The thirty five selections include "Now is the Month of Maying", "Though Philomela Lost Her Love", "Sing We and Chant It," the celebration of tobacco entitled "Come, Sirrah Jack, Ho!" and a host of other fa-la-la-la-la venues interspersed with wistful laments. I love the rich, sonorous sound of a male vocal ensemble, with countertenors, tenor, baritones and bass, and these six singers do a great job. Occasional instrumental accompaniments by lute and tabor are included, but this group doesn't really need it--I could listen to them for hours all by themselves. Also quite enjoyable, as well as educational, is their earlier release, "The King's Singers' Madrigal History Tour: Italy, England, France, Spain and Germany". For a more risque' take on the vocal music of Renaissance England, you might get a kick out of "The Art of the Bawdy Song" by the Baltimore Consort with the Merry Companions.
One of the Best Collections of English Madrigals.......2002-03-27
Any fan of the King's Singers will regret not having this album in their collection.
This album offers a veritable feast of the choicest English madrigals found on any comparable album. From the obligatory "Now is the Month of Maying" and "Fair Phyllis" to the more obscure "Tan ta ra, cries Mars," there is certainly enough on this album to bring a smile to lovers of Renaissance music - and a spark of recognition to anyone who sang traditional madrigals in high school or university. For serious students of early music, this album comes very highly recommended.
Among the more sonorous offerings on this album, Jones' "Farewell, Dear Love" and Dowland's "Come Again," cannot be ignored. Nor can Bennet's immortal "Weep O mine eyes" be matched more musically than here by the King's Singers.
This album has been played again and again for almost 6 years as both serious listening and background working music. And it has yet to lose its delight.
A Delightful Collection of English Madrigal.......2000-08-16
With 35 tracts to enjoy you're sure to find a couple of favorites. I gave this CD 4 of 5 stars compared to 5 stars for the King's Singers World Madrigal Tour CD. If you prefer all your songs in English, this will be your 5 star CD. Tract 32 "Come again" is my favorite due to the surperb tenor lead and melodic development. Compared to many polyphonic early music styles (1300s-1485), this era (1500-1610) provides many memorable melodies.
A wide variety.......2000-04-28
This is an excellent sampling of English madrigals. This presentation, given by an older roster of the Singers, is a nice introduction to the world of the madrigal, and English madrigals in particular.

Rennaissance music at it's finest!.......2007-06-29
This was my first Renaissance music album and the broad styles of several composers were very well represented, especially Michael Pretorius, probably the most well-known composer of his time. The tonal quality sparkles and the latin language comes alive (along with English translation in the included booklet); be prepared for an aural "feast" of some of the more eclectic music from the Renaissance period!
a voice teacher and early music fan.......2007-02-04
To quote from the accompanying booklet seems to be in order to start this review: "This collection attempts to wipe the dust from some old ideas and restore music from the Middle Ages and Renaissance to its roots deep in the human soul.........What you're listening to on this disc is not the domain of museums, but the music of the people, born of faith and the love of song and dance".
This is a varied group of works, some dances, some strictly instrumental and some accompanied vocal.
The role of dancing, as you might suspect, was enormously important in this era. 'Le Bouree' showcases the dance music of the composer Michael Praetorius. The 'Bransles de Villages' is of French origin and features 2 violins, 2 violas, a cello, a great bass viol, hurdy-gurdy and 2 lutes. 'La scesa de Pastori dal Monte' is an Italian dance by Andrea Ansalone. Another dance written by Michael Praetorious was the 'Volte' which actually involved 4 short dances. It was considered not respectable because of the close contact between the dancers.
The strictly instrumental songs are : 'Dum pater familias' is called a pilgrim song, and it was religious in nature. And, of course, all the dance songs are instrumental.
The vocally oriented songs are: 'Quen a Virgin ben servira' is a song taken from a collection of songs about the miracles attributed to the Virgin Mary.-Three of the songs are from the famous 'Carmina Burana' manuscript.- 'Orientis partibus' is from the 'Feast of fools'which was a feast held by the church itself in which the status of the church herarchy was reversed as inferior clergy assumed the role of their superiors.-'Stella Splendours' is another pilgrim song; this song was sung by pilgrims who went to worship as the Shrine of the Virgin at Montserrat.
I always trust the quality of a CD when Philip Pickett and the New London Consort are involved. This album is very interesting, but I would hope that this would be classified as the more "pop" type music of the period. Also, I don't think that I personally would call it early music, as is indicated in the accompanying booklet. Today that term brings to mind Monteverdi, Cavalli, Palestrina, the Scarlatti's, up to and including Handel and Bach etc.. Just a personal reaction on my part. This is a very well put together disc.
A good sampler of New London Consort's work.......2006-12-20
Although there's nothing special about this disc as a compilation, it does provide a value-priced sampling of 17 tracks from the New London Consort's excellent recorded work. Given that so many of their recordings are difficult to find on CD at a reasonable price, and that one of my personal favorites ("Bache bene venies", from their masterful 4-CD recording of the Carmina Burana) is included here, I'd recommend this CD as a great place to start while you search for the original releases.
Excellent renditions of lively 'old music'........2005-11-23
'Sinners & Saints' by Philip Pickett and the New London Consort is just a bit too ambitious with their subtitle, 'The Ultimate Medieval and Renaissance Music Collection' as I find it hard to believe that 70 minutes can be the ultimate anything on 500 years of history. This is especially true since they seem to focus a lot more on the sinners than the saints, as there is virtually no liturgical music here. But, since there are so many good recordings of medieval liturgies, we aren't missing much.
This is really the sort of thing you would expect to hear from a travelling troupe of minstrals, but not from a solo artist, as practically every performance involves several instruments and voices.
Some tracks will sound especially familiar, as they are very similar to Carl Orff's 'Carmina Burana', inspired by medieval texts.
Compared to many recordings of music from Shakespeare's time, this collection is superior and well worth the investment.
A Treasure of the Time Period.......2005-08-11
I bought this CD with a children's history class in mind. We are studying the Dark Ages to the Rennaisance. I was delighted to hear the variety of selections which span the spectrum of genres during this period of history. My children and I have been listening to it in the car as well as at home for the simple enjoyment of the music. It will be exciting to present these pieces to my class as I feel it is a very accurate display of the cultures, instrumentation, languages, and styles of the Middle Ages. I am a proffesional musician and thoroughly enjoy most types of music so it wasn't hard to get me interested but I was surprised to hear my eight-year-old and five-year-old sons asking to hear this CD. The former child said it made him feel "important" to listen!!

After the success of Graceland, Simon's meshing of South African rhythms with his own overtly self-conscious singer-songwriter pop, Simon figured he'd best keep traveling. This album follows him to South America, where he indulges in Brazilian music and still manages to make it sound like Paul Simon. His quirky, introspective lyrics are front and center; set to the beat of multiple drummers, the effect is soothing and unexpectedly rich. "The Coast" is a brilliant narrative about traveling musicians and "The Obvious Child" handles Simon's neurotic obsession with middle age with a lightheartedness unheard in his '70s solo work. --Rob O'Connor

My all-time favorite album.......2006-05-13
Words can't describe how much I love this album! Paul Simon's amazing ability as lyricist shines on 1990's Rhythm of the Saints, a beautifully crafted journey of sound. For me the songs evolve, opening like a flower, meant to be heard one after another -- almost like a rock-opera that tells a story. Most of the album is perfectly dance-able. Many times I have lit candles, donned something flowing, and danced with a girlfriend around my room to this lovely, soul-lifting music. I am grateful to Paul Simon, for his music has soothed me when my spirit was low and helped me "dominate the impossible in my life." All of his music is this way for me, but none so much as Rhythm of the Saints. Like medicine for the soul...it's THAT good.
Just a great album..........2005-02-04
Different than any other PS album, but still great. "The Cool, Cool River" is possibly one of the best songs ever written. Hard to write a review for an album that I've listened to for so long. Words don't begin to explain it.
Paul Simon's Masterpiece--And One of the Best Ever.......2004-11-22
I'm coming out of the closet and finally putting myself on record as saying that this is Paul Simon's best album as a solo artist. I also agree with other reviewers--this is one of the fifty best albums of the twentieth century.
Although Graceland was a landmark record, there were many "outside" issues with that record. Troubles with cultural snobbery and exploitation (particularly of Los Lobos), unsituated appropriation of "Third World" musics and musicalisms, and just plain screwed up "liberal" New York elitism. Some of that is still here in this album--even Caetano Veloso took some pot shots at Paul Simon, as has Carlinhos Brown.
But great art is judged by time as much as anything else, and I believe that this is a fascinating and moving record, whose subtle and shifting rhythms, melodies, harmonies, and chords represent perhaps the best admixture of Brazilian, African, and American sensibilities in the history of pop music (Jazz music is here, of course, excepted; that music is beyond this discussion and is in an entirely separate category). The single biggest thing that sticks out for me about this album is the percussion work. You get a broad and deep emotional working out of a variety of African-matrixed South American percussion styles, and the perhaps biggest musical achievement by Simon here is his sly and sophisticated incorporation of a stunning variety of polyrythms into his already legendary folk and folksy pop music. This music is at times simply gorgeous--it flows like a river, and on occasion it flows thick and lovingly like hot lava.
This is grown-up, laid back, (in the best American/Brazilian collaborative tradition), intelligent, lovely, and wise music.
Highly Recommended.
Dare I say it? BETTER THAN GRACELAND!.......2004-08-22
This CD is fascinating. It leans far away from the radio-friendly cross-genre pop of Graceland into uncharted territory. The songwriting on this album is amazing. Complex arrangements and orchestrations synthesizing timbre, rhythm, and genre make this album one of those that EVERY time you listen to it, you hear something new.
Don't get me wrong, Graceland is genius. This CD however is much deeper and much more powerful. It works cohesively as a record - flowing from one song to the next. It is underrated how tight the songs work within the framework of the album. This album mixes Brazilian and Afro-cuban elements - NOT simply just "African" music - with sublime ambient rock with supreme song and lyricism to create a sound totally unique.
Do yourself a huge favor and buy this CD. It is masterfully performed and produced, and it shows how Simon can easily be called one of the greatest songwriting geniuses of the 20th century.
The well has run dry.......2004-08-02
After the incredible success of GRACELAND, Simon returns to his investigation of cross cultural pop with this look at the music of Brazil. The problem is it is far less satisfying in its execution. The music does not have the bite that was found on GRACELAND it tends to meander and lacks the strength of rhythm found on GRACELAND. Lyrically there are no real standouts; one song seems to drift into another without leaving anything more than a faint trace on your memory. It really works wells as new age background music, but that's really not what I want when I get a Paul Simon recording.

3 Great Reasons. Billie Joe, Bono, Music Rising.......2007-01-29
With the vocal talents of Billie Joe Armstrong and Bono, this song was guaranteed to be a hit before it was even recorded. Better yet, all proceeds go to Music Rising.
Best Single of 2006.......2007-01-29
Green Day and U2 cover The Skids and donate to Katrina releif. They brought out the best in each other. Taking on a cover song and melding it with a snippet of "House Of The Rising Sun" made this superstar collaboration the best single of the year 2006. Especially since our feds have conveniently forgotten about the victims of Katrina."
Green Day rock dude!!!!!!.......2007-01-16
I am not a big fan of U2. I thought they might need some help by another band. But when Green Day (My all time favorite band since 2005) teamed up with them it sounded very good. First I on listened to the music video (because I don't have big allowence) and after that my guitar teacher burned me the song. It is awesome! Green Day is so cool and they really helped U2 with good music.
the saints are coming.......2007-01-12
perfect for the two bands to perform together for a great cause
The Saints have arrived!.......2007-01-10
I like Green Day and U2 fine, but I cannot call myself a fan, as I did not own any of their CD's, until this one. I am a fan of the New Olreans Saints, and I was at the Superdome that fantastic Monday night when this song was recorded. This CD, "The Saints Are Coming", is a lasting memorial of that night, when all seemed right with New Orleans again. Thanks to U2 and Green Day for helping with our recovery. Proceeds from the sale of this CD help area musicians replace instruments lost during hurricane Katrina. Many thanks to all who purchase it.

Perfect starter CD!.......2005-02-12
I'm surprised that no one has reviewed this CD yet. Released in conjuction with the Nationally-released PBS documentary "America's Choir" - this album is a perfect starting place for people who wish to have a sampler of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Serving as both a latter-day "greatest hits" and a stand alone album, this CD gathers six tracks from the Choir's recently released albums "Consider The Lilies," "Spirit Of America" and "Peace Like A River" and adds TEN brand new tracks recorded specially for this project, creating a perfect sampler of both the Choir's magnificent history and it's current sound. It highlights the strengths of the Choir's repetoire, from well-known hymns ("Come Thou Fount Of Every Blessing") to patriotic standards ("Battle Hymn Of The Republic") to folk songs ("Shenandoah," "Bound For The Promised Land") and even some surprises, like the traditional Welsh anthem "O Home Beloved" and the "Fugue In C Major (Jig)" for organ and orchestra. A wonderful, wonderful CD, with startling changes in mood and tempo, but with the unifying artistry of the Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Sqare.
