As one who is an uneducated fan of Cajun music, I can vouch for "Encore Encore" as a good introduction to the genre. Perfect for the stereo for an outdoor barbeque, BeauSoleil tosses off traditional two-step with ease ("Le Chanky-Chank Francais"). This is the kind of good-time Cajun music you associate with bowls of jambalaya and gumbo on a sweaty Louisiana night, and it's a lot of fun.

BeauSoleil is not a one-note pony, however, and "Encore Encore" shows off some of the band's different influences. "Conja" and "A Bebe Waltz" are two examples of tunes that don't fit the stereotypical Cajun tune, but they are also lots of fun.

I'm not sure what would be a five-star intro to Cajun, but if you want to get a good, representative album that gives you a sense for the music, both its classical forms and its various tangents, "Encore Encore" would be for you.

    With this album you get a double disc helping of some of the best Trance music ever made, from one of the founders of the genre. The 2 remastered discs have their big hits plus unreleased tracks and hard to find remixes. The X-Dream CD to own if you are just starting collecting them, and must for fans/collectors as well.

    Sadly, trance is pretty much a dead genre now. Sure, there's tons of artists who produce albums every year... But honestly, its pretty damn boring now. With all the genres (prog, psy, goa) everything just seems to sound the same now days.

    Enter X-Dream.

    A true pioneer of trance music. X-Dream's debut album, Trip to Trancesylvania, hit dance floors in 1993. This was around the time that trance was just getting started, and only a handful of artists were producing it at the time. As a result, these albums all sounded fresh and full of life. X-Dream continued to produce albums, with several more over the years (they've released 6 full lengths as of this review date), and kept pushing the boundaries of good trance music.

    The Best 1991-2001, serves as their greatest hits of their trance days. Even though this was released in 2006, you'll notice their 2004 album, We Interface, was not included for this release.. And that reason is most likely because they start a new style with that album that most people refer to as "space techno". Its better that its not included anyways though, because their first 5 albums are compiled here and really show off how they evolved with the trance sound. Timeless classics such as The 5th Dimension and Psychomachine are here.

    Other true leaders of the genre worth mentioning are Astral Projection and Juno Reactor. However, Juno nolonger produces trance.. more tribal and epic. Astral still does, but they cut their album output down big time. So here we are with our trust in X-Dream... Something tells me they will continue to entertain us for many years to come.

        U96 where taking time off since there last album "Heaven" on 1996. Now, About four years later they're coming out with new cd which supposed to answer for a greatest hits tittle.

        U96 did it again,the album's value is extreemly high for the fans,because it includes the highlights all over the past and the present of the group.

        i own this tittle, very recommended for the fans and dance-trance lovers out there! it's U96's best album ever.

        for quite some years, we haven't heard anything from them. and now they are back, finally? well for a true fan, maybe. but be aware of this: most of the tracks are from the last album 'heaven'. and several of these songs don't belong to a best of. while some of the great songs aren't there at all. some new songs have made it to this cd and they are really great for any u 96 fan, really!

        If you are a fan who haven't bought all their album, then you must buy this one. but if you, like me, have all their previous albums, then don't! all you get from this is 'heaven' all over again and a few new tracks, and an extra-cd that basicly is one large track (21 minutes?) with old hits that mostly are on the best of.

        This cd proves only one thing, u 96 are almost spelling it out for us: we're history, we have nothing new to give you, therefore we'd like to give out our 'best' songs one more time so that you wont forget us.
