In the...jingle...jangle...morning...I'll come follow ya........2007-05-21
Wow. wow. I'm not at all a "trekkie", never liked the shows, but always appreciated shatner for what he...does for pop culture. I'm 18 so missed the age of lusting after him, but get that he's...there. I got this on itunes on a whim. So Good. So Good. It is by far the most hypnotizing album I have ever heard. To hear young Shatner "sing" (his album 'has been' prepared me somewhat) and to hear Nimoy sing...I think I just might be high from simply hearing such tones. lol, buy it if you like bizarre. buy it if you like Nimoy or Shatner. buy it if you can't afford pot.
so sad so sad.......2007-04-10
Ok I bought this knowing full well it would be bad...bad...bad. But that's what happens when actors try to be musicians. I love both Shatner and Nimoy and if you are a Trekkie/Trekker...you need this. But if you are just a music lover, you don't.
If you are into comedy though...it is pretty funny
Scariest album I ever bought.......2007-03-08
Let me be clear from the outset: get this album only if you are the kind of person who enjoys the bizarre. It is incredibly strange to hear Leonard Nimoy sing - actually sing in a deep, almost baritone voice - about the hobbit Bilbo Baggins. His rendition of Peter Paul and Mary's Hammer Song (If I Had a Hammer) is hysterical. And Shatner, oh, Bill, what were you thinking? This album takes campy to new heights.
Weird But Good.......2007-01-17
If you are looking for that weird cd, and one that will cause you to shake your head, this is the one for you. First, let us just say, that although Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner give it their best effort, it is not classical singing that you will be listening to. But, it is just good enough (or bad enough-depending on your tastes), that if you are a fan of either of these two actors, you will enjoy it.
to go where no man has gone before.......2007-01-16
i would have given this cd 5 stars but there was just somthing missing. it mighte be mr. scotty doing a bagpipe solo, or mr soolo playing the skin flute, or bones haveing a drum solo in the middle. i'm just not sure i konw its missing somthing, and that something is missing from your colletion.

Demon's finest work........2004-03-30
Demon, British Standard Approved (Clay, 1984)
The majority of Demon fans you're likely to meet (what few of us still remember who they were) are likely to start and end any conversation regarding the band with their first two discs, after which it's generally considered they went downhill (sold out to get a contract with America's Atlantic Records, I think the argument goes). I, on the other hand, think British Standard Approved, the band's fourth disc, was their crowning achievement. Years ahead of its time, mixing progressive rock, pop, and (yes) country with the band's signature biker metal, British Standard Approved took the already-stagnating New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement and gave it a new direction; pity no one followed.
From the very first notes of "Cold in the Air," you have to wonder whether this is the same band who recorded Night of the Demon and The Unexpected Guest. It is, in fact. BSA was the last album Demon recorded before the untimely death of their resident guitar god, Malcolm Spooner. But the ominous blowing-wind-and-eerie-noises and crunchy three-chord guitar work have given way to expressive keyboards, more delicate melodies, and what could well pass for a positive outlook if you squint the right way. Obviously, something happened to Demon vocalist Dave Hill between 1982's "Strange Institution" ("they gave you a mountain to climb, but left you no will to survive") and 1984's "From the Outside" ("it's up to you to see it through...") to give him a radically different view on life as we know it.
What didn't change over the course of the band's career with Spooner, though, was their ability to write dead catchy music. Hill's lyrics are custom tailored for singing along, if a bit cheesy at times, and Spooner studied at the School of Inspiring Millions of Air Guitarists. What do you get when you cross biker metal with new-age happy pop-rock? British Standard Approved, Demon's most accessible album, and one that has been highly underrated over the years. The recent reissue of Demon's stuff is already heading out of print, so pick this one up fast and spend some time wondering why an album this great never got any radio airplay. *****
It's claimed to be Demon, but I'm not sure..........2003-03-21
I'm warning you!
If you think this album will sound even a tiny bit like "The unexpected guest" you're in for a very big and unpleasant surprise. I can't believe it's the same band. I don't like it all and I strongly suggest you pre-listen before buying it!
Weird but awesome.......2003-01-20
I think this album is exceptional cause it goes from the bombastic passages on some tracks well known from their album 'The Plague', cool weird atmospheric sounds of some tunes, to nice melodic and more commercial tracks. This an awesome eclectic (metal-prog?) album, showing some of the best Demon's, and a nice tribute/legacy from Mal Spooner. Its easy to identify a little british-industrial-foggy-Floyd style. Difficult to categorize, it's just good music. Never heard the new bonus track (the other two are live reprises).

Don't Break the Circle!.......2006-02-28
It's good to see the Demon albums getting the remaster treatment. The certainly deserve it. Demon was always one of the more underrated NWOBHM bands - come to think of it, aside from Maiden, Priest and a few others, they were all underrated.
The Unexpected Guest, released in 1982, is Demon's second album, and a real classic. It alternates between being straight-ahead heavy metal and melodic hard rock, sounding like equal parts Saxon and Uriah Heep. The combination works quite well. Songs like Don't Break the Circle and Deliver Us from Evil are powerful metal anthems, but the rest of the album, while not necessarily radio-friendly, was melodic enough that it should have appealed to a wider audience.
Dead Ringer's 2003 reissue of the Unexpected Guest provides a much needed upgrade. The remastered sound breathes new life into the album, though the bonus tracks - 4 alternate versions of songs on the album - don't add much. The liner notes could have been better too. The lyrics are printed inside, along with a very brief note from Dave Hill. Some additional artwork, photos, or commentary (see Castle's excellent Uriah Heep reissues) would have been a nice touch.
If you're a metal fan, particularly a classic metal fan, and haven't heard Demon, I highly recommend checking them out, and the Unexpected Guest is a great album to start with. If you're already familiar with the band and are wondering whether to pick up the reissues, I'd recommend doing so since these remasters sound terrific.

Album Description
SLOW GIN is the group's third creation and is the result of two years intensive work. After Spaced Out (2000) and Eponymus II (2001), this new CD is guaranteed to please those who enjoyed Spaced Out's previous albums, and is set to appeal to many more.
Antoine's main goal is to bring quality music on a different level compared to that of previous albums, whilst keeping the sound that the band has already created so far. The musical experimentation and the research for authenticity is also part of the project. The music on SLOW GIN is features more room for bass solos all executed from the capable hands of Antoine Fafard.

Spaced In.......2006-05-25
Wow. Another amazing album in the instrumental METAL realm. This album is right there with Alarum, Canvas Solaris, Gordian Knot, etc...Very diverse drum patterns, amazing bass work that would make Jaco, Sean, Victor, and Cliff very happy, tech-jazz-metal guitar, with a touch of keyboard/guitar synth made for insane minds!!! The bass work on this album is great!
I like this album a bit more than some free-form-jazz-tech-death-insane-metal, such as Behold...The Arctopus, because it isn't as jagged. I do love Behold, though. On the opposite side of the spectrum, this album isn't as bland as some other older tech metal bands, but I won't name any names. What I mean by that is that this music isn't full speed and near constant time changes. This album isn't bland at all, but it does take the funk to a slow dance speed sometimes. You like some funk every now and then, admit it!
This album reminds me of an album called Pilgrimage by a band named VUVR. REAL metal-formed music rules, regardless of the specific type, because of the thought put into it, the originality, the creativeness, and the untouchable badassness, and this album is testament to that. Let the metal flow!!!

Demon, post-NWOBHM.......2007-06-28
It's good to see the Demon albums getting the remaster treatment. The certainly deserve it. Demon was always one of the more underrated NWOBHM bands - come to think of it, aside from Maiden, Priest and a few others, they were all pretty much underrated.
The Plague, originally released in 1983, was Demon's third album, and marks the point where Demon abandons the straight ahead metal sound of previous albums Night of the Demon and the The Unexpected Guest in favor of more melodic epic pomp/prog rock approach that sounded like equal parts Magnum and Uriah Heep. I can see how metal fans might be turned off by the band's change of direction, but I think it works pretty well. Dave Hill seems much more at ease with this kind of music, and his songwriting improved as a result. Instead of clichéd odes to the occult, the Plague is a chilling post apocalyptic concept album that examines the real horrors in our world rather than those in fantasy.
The 2003 reissue of the Plague provides a much needed sonic upgrade. The remastered sound breathes new life into the album, though the bonus tracks - original mixes of 6 of the album tracks - don't add much. Unlike some remixes (the Leathur mixes of Motley Crue's Too Fast for Love album come to mind), these don't seem that much different than the regular versions. The liner notes could have been better too. The lyrics are printed inside, along with a very brief note from Dave Hill. Some additional artwork, photos, or commentary (see Castle's excellent Uriah Heep reissues) would have been a nice touch.
If you're a fan of classic rock and metal, and haven't heard Demon, I highly recommend checking them out, though the Plague is perhaps not the best album to start with. Instead I'd recommend Night of the Demon or the Unexpected Guest. If you're already familiar with the band and are wondering whether to pick up the reissues, I'd recommend doing so since these remasters sound terrific.
Great Lost Epic.......2007-06-01
If you need a place to start in exploring NWOBHM bands... this is not a bad place to start. Well over looked by metal heads in the states, this was their only major label release on Atlantic. It's prog, it's metal... it's like Marillion smooshed into Queensryche or Iron Maiden. Well worth a listen!
Awesome masterpiece.......2007-04-03
A Demon's masterpiece. A conceptual album of bombastic symphonic prog-metal. Weird isn't it? A rare breed indeed: The music and story has a very british-industrial/foggy atmosphere, all the tracks succeed to fuse melodic and harsh structures with intense metal backgrounds that give life to this crude story about a somehow apocalyptic-decaying society, a warning scream on war, politics and institutions, society vices and corruption. Mike Hannan's art is dark and a nice complement to the experience. It was followed by the also excellent and more coloured "British Standard Approved

Another great Demon release.......2007-06-12
By the time Taking the World by Storm was released in 1989, Demon had fully made the transition from pioneering New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) band to straightforward arena/pomp rock. That's not to suggest that this is some wimpy AOR album (not that there's anything wrong with that). Taking the World by Storm is more of a harder rocking version of what Magnum and Uriah Heep were releasing at the time. The songs are catchy and melodic, but they also rock quite a bit. After the AC/DC-esque opening track Commercial Dynamite, the songs on Taking the World by Storm have an epic, almost progressive quality, especially the lengthy tracks like Remembrance Day and Time Has Come.
As always, vocalist Dave Hill's songwriting proves to be the band's greatest strength. The songs on Taking the World by Storm are all quite well written, both musically and lyrically. It's a very solid album not only in terms of 80's rock, but in general. Listening to it in 2007, it doesn't seem all that dated, which can't be said for a lot of that era's albums.
Unfortunately, Taking the World by Storm did anything but. The album remains unappreciated, even among Demon's fans. It's a shame, because if you let go of preconceived notions and expectations, I think you'll find this album to be a more than worthy addition to the Demon catalog.
NOTE: Taking the World by Storm was reissued in 2002. The updated version features a much needed digital remastering and one bonus track - a demo version of Trick of the Light.

Product Description
THINGS HEARD UNHEARD is the first recording by Brian Willson as a leader. This recording is a combination of completely free improvisationno guidelines whatsoever other than listeningand composed pieces, nothing written, but discussion of the nature of the work to be performed. Influenced by free jazz of the 60s, world music, and contemporary, Willson fuses these elements into a diverse amalgam of improvised musicsome pieces are classic free piano, bass and drums, evidence of the strong Cecil Taylor influence abounds, others are evocative of Eastern culture utilizing sounds and instruments particular to Tibet, Japan and China, evoking images of Buddhist ritual. Brian had played with Yuko and Dom individually and they enjoyed a long friendship collectively, but this was the first musical meeting of this trio of gifted musicians. The recording is a culmination of years of performing for Brian Willsonhe has traveled from rock and roll to jazz to club dates to oldies bands to Broadway shows to contemporary music. He is an accomplished performer in both the jazz and classical worlds, and an ardent improviser. After touring the world as percussionist and musical director with several Broadway shows he has dedicated his musical pursuits to jazz drumming, improvisation, conducting contemporary music, and performing and touring as Assistant Conductor with the Brooklyn College Percussion Ensemble. He recently recorded a series of duets with Pauline Oliveros, AS IT IS and a DVD of improvised music called JUST PLAYIN, to be broadcast on CUNY TV. He is co-leader of a straight ahead jazz quartet, The Salim WashingtonBrian Willson Quartet. Mr. Willson began improvising circa 1977 after hearing Sun Ra and his Arkestra in Chicago.
