I bought the CD when it first came out back in 2000 not knowing much about the artist or his music. I still get so moved everytime I listen to this CD. I acutally feel as if I was there at the concert. You also can feel the presence that GOD had in that place. It is truly an awesome CD. I love all of the songs but my favortie is "Great is Your Mercy".

I owned another CD by Donnie Mcclurkin and thought it was the greatest, most spiritually uplifting cd that I had ever heard, until this one. Again, I have been experincing health and personal issues, really going through the fire. This cd has helped to keep me uplifted, inspired, ministered to and incredibly blessed. Thank you Pastor McClurkin for using your talent, as The Lord has clearly instructed you to and sharing it with the world. We are truly blessed to have you in it. And I believe that one day, I will have the opportunity of hearing you preach in person. May God continue to bless and keep you!

I had a traffic accident and needed to rent a vehicle to drive to work. When I got in the van and turned on the radio, I discovered this CD which someone had left by mistake. It was a word in due season, annointed by God, and I believe it was no accident and intended for me to hear. Now I have the CD for myself. I hear this CD playing in my head all the time now, and it is an encouragement to me. Words can't explain it. I Praise God for it!

A blueprint for the early-'70s Laurel Canyon sound, Judee Sill's short-lived star was still shining brightly when she pulled into London for a pair of live shows in 1972 and 1973, recorded by the BBC. Sill performing entirely solo, her saintly voice is escorted only by acoustic guitar or piano on a playlist culled wholly from her 1971 self-titled debut and 1972's Heart Food. Only an eager audience's response between tracks and Sill's own timid introductions of what lies next remind you that the album is live. Apologizing for her thick accent, she tells of hearing "Lady-O" on the radio as recorded by the Turtles, her dreams of space-age raptures turning up in "Enchanted Sky Machines," and how "Down Where the Valleys Are Low" channels '50s R&B into a "religious love song." This is not a great starting point for a new Judee Sill listener - those people should get her two albums, Judee Sill and Heart Food. And it's not necessarily something that a person who has those two albums will find worthwhile to have - there are no songs not on those albums, many of the songs included in these various live sessions are duplicated, and there are too many great songs from the first two albums that aren't represented (The Archetypal Man, The Desperado, et al). But having said all of that, I love this CD. Even though the live versions of the songs are not much different than the studio versions, it's a pleasure to listen Judee sitting there by herself, with just a guitar and piano, playing these sublime folk songs. And in her introductions to the songs, as well as the interview with Bob Harris, she sounds endearingly nervous, totally and painfully honest, and like the songs mean the world to her. Judee Sill is like a Joni Mitchell with much more danger around her. Judee was all these things in her short life: a reform school girl, a junkie, a prostitute, an acid head, a heartbroken lover, a supremely gifted songwriter, musician, and vocalist. She was a visionary. She was the first artist to have an album put out on David Geffen's Asylum Records, she was produced by Graham Nash, her songs were covered by the Hollies and the Turtles . . . yet her recording career never really took off. Judee Sill is a wonder, somebody who was just too troubled and too tragic to last long in this life. Her songs initially strike you as pleasant little folk tunes, but as you listen more the lyrics and the arrangements start to get into your head, and eventually you realize you are listening to something both beautiful and otherworldly. Get this disc to hear Judee perform live and to hear her talk, and if you don't have the first two albums, go get them as well.

This is great. If no new songs, it's still marvelous to get the purity of Judee with just guitar or piano accompaniment. And the interviews are cool too, & informative about her attitude and POV. Some songs like "The Kiss" take on even more beautiful aspects I think. Maybe not the place to start for newcomers to her or
casual fans perhaps, but marvelous to have.

Rostropovich's authority in Shostakovich's music dates back to his Soviet days and his friendship with the composer. So it comes as no surprise that this, his third recording of the Fifth Symphony, may also be his best, blessed with a fully matured interpretation, the excitement of a live concert, and a first-class orchestra. There's a grimness of approach that registers with the low, rumbling notes of the opening movement and doesn't stop until the final hammer blows of a decidedly ironic finale are sounded. There's a Mahlerian spaciousness in a long first movement packed with incident, along with a relentlessness shared with the sardonic last movement. While a bit more uncouth wildness wouldn't be out of place in the bitterly sarcastic Allegretto, Rostropovich's slower-than-usual tempo does allow for more careful delineation of detail. The brooding Largo is powerful, and the last movement makes a tremendous impact. The LSO is outstanding, with well-turned solos and the terrific brass section making hay with its opportunities in the outer movements. --Dan Davis

This recording impeccably expresses all of effects and affects in this work: joy, wit, fear, sadness, sarchasm, and bitter irony. Many other interpretations seem to treet this piece more as a collection of melodies, but this interpretation expresses the sinister sneering of the lower octaves of the piano in the first movement, and the epic rises and falls between trebble and bass, the infectuous fun of the second movement's dancing up and down the octaves, the brooding of the third movement, the signaling of the fanfare of the typical Beethovenian finale, the changing of tone as this falls to the sneering of the bass, and the sarchasm of the timpani in the final cadential notes of the piece, ending the piece on more of an uneasy question mark than on the forced exclamation point heard in other interpretations.
The tempo is very natural; it never feels rushed, and yet the music keeps flowing steadilly. I have 4 complete recordings of this work: this one conducted by Rostropovich, the one from the Kondrashin set, the one from the Barshai set, and the one by Bernstein that seems to get the best reviews. I am also an audiophile and have a decent system, decent enough to be dissapointed int the recording quality of many of my classical recordings - in particular, many digital recordings tend to sound irritatingly dry and glassy. This recording is among the absolute best I have in terms of sound quality; sound quality really doesn't get much better than this, it's lucious. Unless there is something faily specific you're looking for in a recording of this work, you will not be dissapointed.

5 out of 5 stars One of Rostropovich's Best Recordings.......2006-05-01

Acclaimed cellist and conductor Mstislav Rostropovich leads the London Symphony Orchestra in a vibrant performance that should be regarded as distinguished for the conductor's emphasis of the score's rich architecture, via somewhat slower tempi than similar recordings I have heard from the likes of Leonard Bernstein and Bernard Haitink. Still, Rostropovich manages to capture the spacious, almost Mahlerian, quality of the symphony's first movement. The symphony's second movement sounds like some crazy dance mixed with drunken waltz and march rhythms, with less than a brisk Allegretto tempo than I have heard elsewhere, but under Rostropovich's superb conducting, it still sounds quite credible. For me, the most viscerally moving movement is the symphony's third movement, a Largo which is emphasized via Rostropovich's slow tempi, accentuating the score's pathos and despair. The symphony's fourth movement is a dazzling rush of sound, with an ending that sounds most reminiscent of the final notes of Berg's Three Pieces for Orchestra. Composed in 1937, Shostakovich's 5th Symphony was his understated tribute to fellow Soviet citizens ensnared by the deadly bureaucracy of Stalin's dictatorship. Needless to say, Rostropovich has led the London Symphony Orchestra in a quite moving, dramatic performance of this symphony that has been recorded well by the LSO Live sound engineers. Indeed, without question, this splendid performance is Rostropovich's dignified musical tribute to his late friend and mentor, Dmitri Shostakovich.

This is the third recording Mstislav Rostropovich has made of Shostakovich's 5th Symphony, and of the three it is the most beautiful. The LSO's musicians are superb, and Rostropovich, who knew Shostakovich and knows what the symphony is about, leads them in one of the best performances available. Why then only 4 stars? The problem is, Rostropovich is competing against himself. His first recording with his National Symphony Orchestra of Washington D.C. in 1983 is the most powerful performance of the many I have heard. It is not beautiful, but given the nature and subject of the work, beautiful is not the most important attribute -- what it has is relentless momentum and streamlined power. It is the most complete realization of Rostropovich's vision of the 5th. Unfortunately that DG disc is out of print.

Of the currently available recordings, this one, live in July 2004, takes its place as one of the finest, along with Mravinsky, Haitink and Gergiev (see my reviews). If you have not heard the 5th, or if you are collecting superior versions, do not hesitate! So far, Rostropovich and the LSO have brought forth great Shostakovich in the LSO Live series -- their 11th Symphony is one of the finest ever (see my review). In July we have their latest, the 8th Symphony, to look forward to!

This is a wonderful album for a Sibelius fan or any lover of classical music. The sound quality is fabulous, capturing a marvelous performance with crystal clarity. The liner notes are very informative, too!

With the semi-chaos that's become of the recording industry, and as do a few prominent orchestras nowadays, the London Symphony Orchestra is producing and distributing live recordings on their own label. Colin Davis has recorded the entire cycle of Sibelius' symphonies twice in his career; this is the first installment of what may be his third cycle. However, for much of the popular Symphony No. 5, it's "Hum Along with Sir Colin". The No. 6 is one of my personal favorites with a delightfully disarming poco vivace third movement.

I love the performances; the acoustic is decidedly dry, but it complements Davis' cerebral take on these two symphonies. If one can inure themself to the conductor's "verbal accompaniment" in No. 5, these are most enjoyable.

5 out of 5 stars Great sound and playing in Sir Colin Davis' most recent Sibelius 5 and 6.......2005-09-20

This is a beautiful CD in every way, and my first exposure to the LSO LIVE label. I am familiar with this label only from reviews I've read in AMERICAN RECORD GUIDE of Sir Colin Davis's recordings of Berlioz operas, Symphonie fantastique, Harold in Italy, this Sibelius disc, and Sibelius Symphonies 3 and 7. I am very impressed with the whole production: the graphics/design of the disc cover, insert, and program notes on the music and conductor. The disc inside, too, does not disappoint. Both sound and playing are great in this, Sir Colin's most recent Sibelius 5 and 6.

Davis is no stranger to Sibelius Symphonies, having recorded the complete cycle for Philips with the Boston Symphony (Duo Series, 2 double CD sets) in the late 1970s, and again with the London Symphony for RCA (available individually, and in a 7 disc set with other orchestral works). Now, LSO Live has released live concert performances of Symphonies 5 and 6; these are not the same as the RCA recordings. Davis uses lean orchestral textures, and taut, muscular phrasing resulting in Sibelius which is clear and fresh, like ice, or pure crystal: very beatiful and true to the spirit of Sibelius's music and his native Finland.

I have heard the Davis/Boston recording of these works, and here Sir Colin is clearly better in Symphony 5 than he was 25+ years earlier. Symphony 6, previously well played and recorded in Boston, is here very fine, yet different. I can't articulate why the more recent LSO recordings are superior; perhaps longer study with the works at hand, and the presence of a live audience has the London Symphony playing at a higher level than the Boston Symphony had in the studio in the late 1970s.

You can't go wrong with this: grab it while it's still available, and at an almost give away price to boot.

5 out of 5 stars Superb performances of Sibelius's 5th and 6th Symphonies.......2004-08-06

Critics are hailing Sir Colin Davis's ongoing cycle of Sibelius's symphonies as his best (I saw a very favorable review of this recording in The New York Times over a month ago.), eclipsing in quality his critically acclaimed recordings with the London Symphony (RCA) and Boston Symphony (Philips). I haven't heard the CD of the 3rd and 7th symphonies, but am eager to hear it, after hearing these splendid live recordings. Sibelius was one of the few composers who wrote evocatively of nature repeatedly. His most "pastoral" symphony has to be the 5th symphony, with a recurring motif based on swan calls repeating through all three movements. Here Sir Colin Davis does an excellent job capturing the lyrical, dramatic aspects of the score with the London Symphony Orchestra. The more traditional 6th symphony is also well played. LSO Live sound engineers - or rather, those contracted to the LSO - have produced yet another well-balanced live recording that is as fine as any from a recording studio.

Like virtually every band in the mid-'60s, the Beach Boys were expected to deliver their hits in person--no mean feat considering the ever more baroque concoctions that Brian Wilson was constructing in the studio. Tellingly, at the time the 1964 Concert was recorded in Beach Boys hotbed Sacramento, the band had but a few hits of their own and so they padded their set with Jan and Dean's "Little Old Lady from Pasadena" (cowritten by Brian), Dion's "The Wanderer," "Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow" by the Rivingtons, Bobby Pickett's "The Monster Mash," and, of course, Chuck Berry's "Johnny B. Goode." The instrumental backing here is sparse and simplistic; it's the band's vocal interplay that carries the day before a throng of screaming fans. By the time the year was out, Brian suffered his first nervous breakdown and gave up touring to concentrate on his studio productions.

Live in London was culled from live shows recorded at a time (1968) when the band were virtual pop-cultural outcasts in their home country, but still enjoyed an enthusiastic following in England. These recordings document the Beach Boys' remarkable resilience in the face of Brian's deliberate distancing and their frigid American career prospects; when the going got tough, the tough got spectacularly professional. Augmented by a horn section, the band locks into a powerful groove, giving energetic, largely note-perfect versions of the expected hits along with some key album cuts. Digitally remastered, this long out-of-print twofer edition features commentary by David Leaf (The Beach Boys and the California Myth), as well as two bonus cuts: a 1964 concert rendition of "Don't Worry Baby" and a 1967 live version (from the unreleased Lei'd in Hawaii album) of the challenging "Heroes and Villains" that features a rare appearance by Brian Wilson performing with the band. --Jerry McCulley

I first heard this recording on vinyl years ago, it absolutely blew me away. The layers of sound that a live concert has is special and amazing. I thought that the original master had a richness and it could have only been beat by actually attending a real concert. I bought this CD assuming with all of the wonderful technology we have now that it would be a superior recording. Boy, was I suprised! With this new re-master they modified and compressed it to a point that it just seems like one big jumble of sound with non-stop screaming girls. The other recording had the girls too, but all through the concert you could hear vocals when you were supposed to hear vocals, & instruments when you were supposed to hear instruments. I would probably look for a CD that was an earlier re-master or if you have a pristine vinyl & a UBS turntable, you could transfer it directly to your computer harddrive. But, if all that isn't possible go ahead and get it because it it is still a great concert no matter what.

I enjoyed this cd even though I'm not a big fan of live recordings. The reason I bought this "Beach Boys Concert" was to hear the Beach Boys young vibrant falsetto voices. This live set is not great even though versions of Beach Boys hits are performed well live. The Beach Boys Concert is interesting because it is during the start of Beatlemania 1964. It was nice knowing that not only The Beatles had screaming fans but the Beach Boys did to as you listen to "Concert". With all the screaming the performance still comes out well. "Live In London" is an interesting listen because I think as the Beach Boys perform tracks from "Wild Honey" these live performances of "Wild Honey" sound better than the original lp did. "London" also gives you a perspective of how crazy England was for The Beach Boys at this time of Beatle dominance in 1968. The Beach Boys "Concert/Live in London" is a must have just to hear the young Beach Boys young falsetto voices live. The Beach Boys "Concert/Live in London" is a must own due to its historical place in rock music history...............

This CD features two live albums by the Beach Boys.

Beach Boys Concert was recorded in 1964 in Sacramento. It features the Beach Boys original lineup of Brian, Carl, Dennis, Mike and Al. Brian stopped going out on tour shortly after this. The group sounds good, if a bit sloppy at times, and the audience is frequently too loud. The songs consist of five Beach Boys originals, and eight cover versions of other people's songs. There are a few odd song choices, including "Long Tall Texan" and "Monster Mash", of all things.

Live in London was recorded in 1968. At this time, the touring group was backed up by several other musicians, including a horn section. This gave their live performances a "fuller" sound, and allowed them to play the songs closer to how they sounded on their records. Unlike their first concert album, this one doesn't feature any songs that they hadn't previously recorded.

There are two bonus tracks on the CD. "Don't Worry Baby" is an outtake from the show that was recorded for their first concert album. "Heroes and Villains" is from the unreleased live album called Lei'd in Hawaii.

This CD gives you an idea how the Beach Boys sounded during two different time periods. They sounded good, but not as good as they did in the recording studio.

Concert is an early Beach Boys concert, the big thing is that you get to hear the band with Brian Wilson. But the set selections are quite weak, few Beach Boys originals and lots of insipid covers, even an instrumental. Its more of archival and historic importance. Live in London, although without Brian, is really outstanding. Unlike other great 60's band, the Beach Boys never stopped touring, and it shows in this recording. By 1967-68, when this record was recorded, the Beach boys were a mean live Rock n Roll well oiled machine. One of the best live band of the time, no question about it. All the vocals are spot on, and Mile Love is great as a ringmaster. The vocals on Darlin by Carl Wilson are nothing short of extraordinare. Live in London may be one of the best live recordings of the sixties.

I have all the old vinyls and all the new cds, but non touch the live performance of Carlos on this album. This truly shows he is by far the greatest guitarist of all time. Hendrix was great, but he's dead!. Oh yeah, and shame on anyone who doesn't aggree that Santana live is better than any studio recording. And if this his his best live album, then this is his best album of all. I highly recomend. This is comming from a Carlos fan who's been listening to him since the beginning. Trust me you won't be dissapointed.

Sacred Fire: Santana Live in South America is a nice recording of an early 90's Santana concert.
The sound quality is first-rate.
The musicians, while very good, are no match for the Santana band of the late 60's and early 70's.
Of course, Carlos Santana's fiery guitar still has the power to carry the show.
I didn't particularly care for a few of songs on this album (like Esperando and Make Someone Happy) but the renditions of their earlier works like "Black Magic Woman/Gypsy Queen" and "Toussaint L'Overture" are fantastic.
Overall a rewarding musical experience but for the best live recording of a Santana performance I'll stick to "Lotus".

...and don't already own this CD, you really should be ashamed of yourself.

So buy it now while you still can. It might take a minute to get over the 80's synth stylie on the keyboards, but don't let that fool you - This CD is MONEY!!! First he breaks into 'Owner of a Lonely Heart' during Oye Como Va. Then he hits some Breezin' by George Benson during Samba Pa Ti, and finally tops it off by bridging into Marvin Gay's "I Want You" during Europa. Unbelievable! Best Sanatana CD I own - Bar Nun!

I find this album unlistenable, due to the cheesy synth sound prevalent in every track. Carlos' guitar playing is quite good, but the overall sound is one of synthetic 80's blandness, more appropriate to a New Age radio playlist. Vocals lack any of the soul of earlier Santana recordings. I'm selling my copy of this CD, and couldn't find a single track that I really wanted to extract and keep.

This really is a 5* item. I bought this after seeing it several times on TV (PBS). The music is great, the footage really does seem to have captured a particularly magical concert. The Mexico City footage is also inspiring. For not much more than a CD you get a great selection of music, a visual spectical and a chance to watch Carlos play (I am a guitarist -- so I like to watch how he plays). Wonderful!

[Isn't Mexico considered Central America rather than South America though?!]

    As Hammerstein writes in the opening song, "Many dames with lofty aims strive for lofty goals"--and Te Kanawa strives for successful crossover. Her beautiful singing exhibits impeccable diction and excellent phrasing; but "A Fine Romance" lacks anger and humor, "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" lacks a storyteller, and "All the Things You Are" lacks romanticism. However, happy songs like "All Through the Day," "Look for the Silver Lining," and "The Folks Who Live on the Hill," are successfully interpreted.     I love the way she sings Kern's songs. Though certainly not opera, Kern's songs benefit from an an operatic approach--not all of them, but certainly ones such Smoke gets in your Eyes, The song is you, All the things you are. I love Kern;s songs sung in many styles but Kiri's way is one of the best.

    On the other hand, I did not like Kiri singing Berlin.

    Though I do enjoy Kiri's interpretation of most music, and this CD was decent, I did not find any piece particularly memorable.

    The voice is undeniably beautiful, and Kiri has managed to keep her maturing voice sounding somewhat young, yet I find that I much prefer her rendition of "The Laughing Song" to that of "Smoke Gets in YOur Eyes."

    If you love Kern, and couldn't care less who performs it, than purchase this CD. If you are a fan of Kiris', then perhaps it would be best to avoid this purchase...for it is not a shining star in her vast collection of CDs. All in all, it was a disappointment.

    I am the first to admit that most "crossover" albums, be they of classical performers singing pop or vice versa never quite cross over. This album does splendidly. Kern's music is the most related to classical operetta , and therefore the least jazziest. Operatic soprano Kiri Te Kanawa gives luscious, heartfelt readings of these wonderful songs, backed by glamorous orchestrations. Hearing a voice of such opulence and beauty in this music is a rare treat. Just listen to "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" ,"Long Ago and Far Away" or "The Song is You" and prepare to be swept away to another, more elegant time.

    Sometimes cross-over works, sometimes not. While Kiri te Kanawa has a beautiful voice, she never gets into the idiom of these Jerome Kern masterpieces sufficiently to convey their stories or their subtleties. Smoke Gets in Your Eyes especially stands out, she sings it with none of the pathos the song demands and her version pales compared to the Platters. The orchestral arrangements are decent and in many of the songs the purity of her voice is enough to carry them, but overall I would say this is a disappointing example of a crossover record. Ms. te Kanawa should stick to what she does best.

    All kinds of elements including rock, pop, and of course the traditional choir-style gospel make this album crossover, and with some short preachings and testimonies by Andrae, one can imagine the recording was more of a church service than a concert. The songs include "Perfect Peace" and "Just Like He Said He Would," both of which has a taste of typical 1970s pop music as well as the famous versions of the hymns "I Surrender All," "Revive Us Again," and "Power in the Blood." This album also inspired Donnie McClurkin to record his live album in London.

    If you want to know the roots of Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary, et al, you need to listen to this album. I owned this on the original LP, and I nearly played it to death! As far as I know, this is the only recording of the spiritually hilarious "You Don't Have to Jump No Pews," a reminder to his fellow charismatics/Church of God in Christ brothers that "it's not based on emotion or feelings, but faith in God's Word and receiving." I love the musicianship, the life and faith this recording reflects. It is also one of the last appearances on record with the late Dannibelle Hall, a longtime Crouch backup singer. If you want to know why Andrae Crouch has such staying power, this recording will tell you all you want to know--and then some!

    I came to this album (in the original vinyl)as a young christian in 1979.

    The energy, the passion,the joy,the ability of the music to get under your skin and into your heart won me over!!! Many a tear was shed listening to this hip-swingin', foot-stompin' album.

    After many years I have played it again. It was like meeting an old friend!

    First, Diane Schuur is my favorite Vocalist in both "Pop Jazz" and "Standards Jazz".

    Second, I just saw her perform pretty much this whole set at the Bakersfield Jazz Festival last night. And while she is still truly wonderful, and at times brilliant, she once was just always brilliant. I was hoping that last night she was just having an off night, because by the third song in the set it was the "Deedles" that I have seen before.

    So the thing is, that this album "Live in London" sounded pretty much the same as she did last night, at times brilliant, and at times, (heartbreaking to me as it is to say) starting to age, with her vibrato starting to lengthen and the register transitions more apparent.

    So my advice is this, if you are a fan of Deedles already, get this solid live set and enjoy.

    However, if you are getting your first album by this wonderful artist, start with "Collection", "In Tribute", "Pure Schuur", or "Love Songs", you will fall in love with her amazing voice.

    Though I am clearly in the minority here, given these other rave reviews, I must stand by my title opinion and warm potential buyers of this CD that it does NOT represent Ms. Schuur at her best. I was in fact SHOCKED at its release. I have personally heard her make the proud point that she has perfect pitch. Indeed, when I've heard her live (5-6 times) she's been pretty true in pitch and form. But on this outing....I was amazed to the point of backing up the CD to be sure I'd heard it right......she hits some astounding clinkers.

    Her piano sounds quite good, competent. Her scatting is, as usual, very fluid and just punchy enough. I thought her choice of tunes could have been better.

    I have been an ardent fan of Ms. Schuur since the late 80s. I even had the pleasure of recently meeting her. I admire her singing and playing and, for the most part, enjoy her stage presence. However, if this CD had been my first exposure to this otherwise talented chanteuse I would have formed a quite negative opinion of her chops.

    I highly recommend the CD, I've been listening to Diane for quite some time and this one takes the cake. I'm really glad to hear she's still kicking since her first release in the eighties. Certainly a worthwhile purchase.

    Lot of cats out there never get a chance to record so many albums after all these years, but Diane still has it. I certainly recommend it, and she sure does Stevie proud on "As".

    This "Live In London" concert recording is the blissful tour-de-force masterpiece from Diane Schuur that has been years in the making...singing just doesn't get any better than this!!! Years of numerous great albums and a few token Grammy Awards make Diane one of the most sadly overlooked great singers of her generation...hopefully this amazing collection of tremendous and fine performances will take care of this blaring oversight and thankfully KKGO in Los Angeles plays this great singer alot and it is really wonderful to hear a real voice on the radio which sadly is a hard find these musically bankrupt days. Opening with a loose jazzy version of "Deedles' Blues", it is clear that Diane is at the top of her game and in superb form...continuing with sublime 2AM romantic versions of "I'll Close My Eyes", "Close Enough For Love" and "As' that are glorious, Diane then launches into a hot and burning latin jazz "Poinciana" which is a wildly riveting experience. More definitive versions of classics continue with an achingly beautiful "Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight" and a gorgeous and inviting "You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To" that rival versions of the past. "When October Goes" is a haunting stunner while "Besame Mucho" is given an exhuberant workout that is red hot and Diane's loose and great scat routines are thrilling to experience!!! A deeply soulful and beautifully sung "The Very Thought Of You" is mesmerizing but the heat is turned up again with classic and magnificent versions of "So In Love" which is wildly intoxicating, a scat rhythmic tour-de-force "It Don't Mean A Thing (If It Don't Have That Swing)" and "Please Send Me Someone To Love" which becomes a passionate plea that is deeply moving and the glorious finale "Over The Rainbow" is pure vocal magic and singing at its finest!!! Anyone who loves a truly awesome voice that can do it all will find endless hours of listening pleasure here from Schuur!!! BRAVO Deedles...you really brought it ALL home this time!!!!!
