This is one of the very best albums of all time. Hands down. It is not only Goodie Mob at their very best-- but it is also RAP MUSIC at its very best. These boys can WRITE SOME SERIOUS LYRICS... and they KNOW BEATS TO SING OVER.
I was pretty disappointed with both following albums-- but Soul Food will NEVER GET OLD, and it is untouchable. Lyrics read like a moving novel.
A must-have-- no question.

Standout Tracks:THOUGHT PROCESS, DIRTY SOUTH, CELL THERAPY, SESAME STREET, GUESS WHO, FIGHTING(the deepest song on here), LIVE AT THE OMNI, GOODIE BAG, I DIDNT ASK TO COME and THE DAY AFTER. Filler: None. Bottom Line: Goodie Mob's debut album is proof that not everybody out of the south is a party and bulls*** lifestyle living fool. This whole album is mostly social and political commentary just the way any diehard fan of conscious rap likes it. Ceelo, Khujo, Gipp and T-mo give you some solid gems in songs like Thought Process, Dirty South, Cell Therapy, Fighting, Live At The Omni etc. This album is definitely for you if you're looking for a break from the mainstream crap radio shoves down your throat!

Onstage at First Avenue Nightclub in Minneapolis, Goodie Mob's Cee-Lo Green lifts up his shirt to reveal a spare tire's worth of brown skin hanging over his jeans as, accompanied by a live band and with a big smile on his face, he rap croons the chorus of the group's hit single: "Come and get yo' soul food, well, well / Good old-fashioned soul food, all right.". Ten minutes later, the playful moment is long gone. After asking if there are and "revolutionaries of the mind" in the house, Cee-Lo delivers a blistering sermon disguised as an a cappella rap to the integrated all ages crowd: "Yeah, it's true, Uncle Sam wants you to be a devil too..... There's evil white folk just like there's evil black folk. All you soldiers, take responsibility for your own actions. White people know more about black history than you do; whose fault is that?..... We ain't natural born kilas, we are a spiritual people."

The members of Goodie Mob are part of a new generation of black musicians who make no distinction between hip hop and rhythm & blues in their music, a generation able to see the failed hopes of the civil rights movement and the gangsta backlash it generated through the same historical prism. The result is Soul Food, a debut that opens and closes with optimistic gospel based anthems sandwiched around tracks that range from "Guess Who", an unabashed homage to mothers, to "Live At The O.M.N.I.", a raging screed against black cops and other "devils" in the "system". Songs are rapped or sung as the occasion warrants, and are backed by a blend of sampled beats and live instrumentation. It's an ambitious hybrid with an organic cohesion stemming from the group's common roots: the four members of Goodie Mob (Cee-Lo, Khujo, Big Gipp, T-Mo) have known each other since most of them were attending classes at Benjamin Elijah High School in Atlanta.

After the show, T-Mo explains how the four Goodie Mob members often deliver distinctive but complementary raps within a single song: "We all grew up in the same `hood during the same time period, so we experienced maybe not the exact same thing, but most of the same type of vibe."

Cee-Lo: "We don't want to take credit; we have been led to speak, as a sign of the times. We needed a new form of music, a new expression. People are starting to deal with the whole music instead of just rap. Rap is like the paper on the outside of the box; we have to deal with the gift. Rhythm & blues just means rhythm and pain, rhythm and truth, rhythm and emotion. When there are divisions in [styles of] music there is stagnation."

Asked if growing up in Atlanta - the paragon of the New South with a growing tradition of black elected officials - has made a difference in their work, the group members guffaw in unison: "Naw, that's all an illusion, like everything else.". Big Gipp adds: "We deal with the real and that is that everybody is going through the same exact thing, the same pain. The object of Soul Food is to get people to think about change."

And to pay tribute along the way. Khujo states: "Soul Food is dedicated to our mommas. "Guess Who" is like the moral to everybody's whole story, because you don't get but one momma; she brought you in and you've got to treat her with the utmost. That's who fed us before we started eatin' McDonald's and Kentucky Fried Chicken, and that's where soul food comes from, that recipe, the patience and the time that is invested." (- Britt Robson)

For all the haters that knock Nelly for the style of music he creates. He came he came through with a solid double disc in my eyes. Suit (which is my favorite by the way) got some funky cuts and that what nelly delivers. Play it off is good. Then Pretty Toes eith TI is a good listen with TI coming through with a typically tight verse. Also the Ron Isley and Snoop assisted She don't know my name is a track both the ladies and men can feel. Two of my personal favorites Nobody Knows and I'll die for you shows Nelly's vulnerable side and gives you a glimpse into his life. No he won't ever win lyricist of the year but he makes good music. That's what its all about people.

Reviewer E.J. Rupert below got it all wrong blasting this soundtrack for having songs that aren't even in the movie.

That's false. I've seen this movie too many times to know otherwise -- he just probably missed some of the subtle background music in some of the movie's slower scenes.

What's to be appreciated about this soundtrack?

1)The songs from the movie made the soundtrack

2)The songs from specific movie scenes actually matched the mood

3)The songs are performed by a virtual all-star cast from the late'90s and who was hot

4)The two songs (Tony Toni Tone's "Boys & Girls" and Earth Wind & Fire's "September") from non-contemporary groups are appropriate and add something special to the soundtrack

5)This soundtrack has the perfect mix of hip hop and R&B jams you can ride to and chill out to.

Boyz II Men's slow ballad and tribute to loving mothers everywhere "A Song for Mama" is first on the soundtrack because it was also the first song during the movie's intro and photo collage. This single was probably Boyz II Men's last smash hit.

The other top ten smash hits (at least on urban radio airplay) included:

*The fictional group Milestone's (basically Babyface with KCi & JoJo singing backup) single "(Girl) I Care About You."

*The unrequited love ballad by Dru Hill "We're Not Making Love No More" -- arguably the biggest hit from the album.

*The R&B party starter "What About Us" by Total.

*The lush duet remake "(Play Another) Slow Jam (For Me)" sang by Usher and Monica.

*The smooth, one-on-one sex groove "You Are The Man" by En Vogue.

*The somewhat eclectic, funky OutKast rap song feature Cee-Lo "In Due Time" ... (listen to this song's lyrics, they're pretty powerful, spiritual and somewhat religious)

*The 1980s hit remake/Bad Boy sample of an old Yarbrough & Peoples cut for "Don't You Stop What You're Doing" which features P. Diddy, Mase and Lil Kim rapping while Faith Evans sings the hook. This track played during the movie's end credits.

This is one of my all-time favorite movie soundtracks.

Highly recommended purchase for lovers of R&B music.

To make it known, I AIN"T GAY, but this soundtrack is probably the best album of that year. The best songs would have to be the ones by Dru Hill, Total, and Babyface. If you don't have this, go out and cop it. Download it if you have to, but everyone should have this in their car, i know i do!

ALL I HAVE TO SAY IS THAT I LOVE THIS SOUNDTRACK. THIS IS A GOOD SOUNDTRACK WITH GOOD MUISC BY SOME GREAT ARTISTS. IT IS SOUL, R&B, AND HIP HOP. BUY IT YOU WOULD DEFINTELY ENJOY IT IF YOU LIKE HIP HOP AND R&B.

Okay, I'm not gonna say that none of the songs on this album have to do with the "Soul Food" movie because that's not true. Boyz II Men's "A Song for Mama" represents Big Mama in the movie, and the title of the movie is even reflected in the chorus: "Loving you is like food for my soul". It's too bad that this song is too corny and sappy, even for them. (Wayna says, "It fills me up just thinkin' about you." Sheesh.)

Then you have the songs that sort of have something to do with the movie. Dru Hill's "We're Not Making Love No More" is one of the group's best efforts and it could represent Teri and Miles's lack of romance in their marriage. And "What About Us" by Total has a dope beat by Timbaland (he was just on FIRE for all of 1997), but I wonder if the group was thinking about the theme of this movie while composing it or was it just another track laying on the cutting room floor.

Next comes the songs that have NOTHING to do the movie. Tony Toni Toné's "Boys and Girls" is okay, but again, it has nothing to do with the movie. Same goes for OutKast's "In Due Time", which sounds like it was left off of ATLiens. And the only connection that MilesTone's "I Care 'Bout You" has with the movie is that the character Miles founded the group in the movie (by the way, the lyrics, "Girl, I care about you/I'm there for you/So why don't you care for me/Like I care about you" aren't the most mind-blowing).

Last comes the songs that have nothing to do with the movie AND are from other albums. Why is Puff Daddy's "Don't Stop What You're Doing" and Earth, Wind & Fire's "September" on here? And BLACKstreet's "Call Me" (featuring Jay-Z) is just a remix of "Fix" with a different name (there were already three versions of that song that same year). Nice try.

If you're looking for a soundtrack that has to do with the movie, check out "Waiting to Exhale", produced by Babyface, instead because "Soul Food", also produced by 'Face, sounds like a couple of songs thrown together just to chart.

The movie Soul Food was good, and the book was pretty good too. How is the soundtrack? Well...all good things have to come to an end.

Many of the songs on here are very, very average. People in the movie were dancing to Tony Toni Toné's "Boys & Girls", but I don't think anybody in real life would run to the dance floor if it came on. And the vocals in En Vogue's "You Are The Man" sound forced, as does the generic symphony-driven production (see Terry Ellis' part during the bridge). Then some of the other tracks are lazy interpolations of songs, like BLACKstreet and Jay-Z's "Call Me" (which uses Skyy's "Call Me") and Puff Daddy and Lil' Kim's "Don't Stop What You're Doing" (which uses Yarbrough & Peoples' "Don't Stop The Music").

If you REALLY wanted people to dance, you could just throw on Total's "What About Us". Speaking of that, the good songs on this soundtrack don't seem to have anything to do with the movie, like Dru Hill's "We're Not Making Love No More"; and I don't know how Earth, Wind & Fire's "September" got on here. Then there's Milestone (consisting of Babyface, K-Ci & JoJo, and Melvin and Kevon Edmonds), who brings us "I Care `Bout You", which is pretty solid except the chorus could stand a rewrite: "I care about you/I'm there for you/So why don't you care for me/Like I care about you." (Yeah, I know it's easier to say that NOW.)

Just because Babyface produces an album doesn't mean it's good. It USED to mean that, but everything after this soundtrack started to falter (does anyone have his Face2Face album?). The whole soundtrack isn't bad, but the low points make things a little difficult to comprehend.

5 out of 5 stars One Of The Best Albums Ever.......2007-04-20

Daz and Kurupt make up the legendary Long Beach duo Tha Dogg Pound. 1995 was the year they dropped the album that further changed the game that The Chronic and Doggystyle did the 3 years before. The production on this album is 2nd to none and handled by mostly Daz himself (DJ Pooh, Soopafly, and Dre add some mixing and production as well), one of the best producers in the game. This album is some of the finest examples of G-Funk ever conceived. The sad thing, is that it took some time for it to grow on me before I was a more serious rap head like I am now. But I now recognize fully that this album is a masterpiece. My favorite jam is "I Don't Wanna Dream About Gettin' Paid" where Daz and Kurupt tell stories about trying to make it. Daz' verse is the best because he paints a nice picture about ditching a loser job to follow the drug trade to make faster scrilla. The beat is laidback, melodic, and soulful with Nate Dogg providing a nice backdrop in the hook. Daz and Kurupt can battle rap very well, a style often associated with East Coast rap. They do so against the Ruthless Camp on "Dogg Pound Gangstaz" over a hard mobbin beat. "Cyco-Lic-No" has one of the deepest and smoothest beats that are loud enough to blow ya speakers; just listen to the bass! "Reality" kicks in some trillness by DPG over another beautiful Long Beach style banger beat. "One By One" is another classic with an airy beat with both kicking serious flows. They battle rhyme with precision. Kurupt has a sick and fluid flow; he can flow complex, yet make it sound so easy. This album is a total testament of the Death Row legacy; better yet, it is a testment to the Long Beach rap legacy. Don't sleep. This album is the definition of G-Funk and why the sub-genre is so great.

This album came out at a time when Deathrow Records was king and you were guaranteed a solid release from Deathrow(The Chronic, Doggystyle, Above the Rim, All Eyez On Me etc). Standout Tracks: DOGG POUND GANGSTAZ(kurupt takes a subliminal shot at Bone thugs), RESPECT, NEW YORK NEW YORK, SMOOTH, CYCO-LIC-NO, RIDIN SLIPN AND SLIDIN, LETS PLAY HOUSE, I DONT LIKE TO DREAM ABOUT GETTIN PAID, DO WHAT I FEEL, A DOGGZ DAY AFTERNOON, REALITY, ONE BY ONE etc. Filler: If we f**. Bottom Line: Dogg Food is a classic from a duo that has not been the same ever since. Kurupt was a killer lyricist(rightfully called a west coast Rakim) and Daz production and mic skills were up to par. Nowadays they both suck elephant balls. Kurupt's flow has become commercial and secondhand and Daz's beats and rhymes are nothing to write home about. The only album that can come close to Dogg Food but not touch it is Dogg Pound's 2002. And for all you talking about they havent been hot since 92 need to shut the f*** up! This album came out in 94 and still tops the rubbish the comes out these days from the likes of Webstar, Fat Joe , Remy Fartin etc. Songs Like New York New york, Do What I Feel, Smooth, Respect etc make this album a classic worthy of being in your collection.

Hands down. Dogg Food does not get it's due. This is the last great G-Funk record by Death Row. Great production by Daz and incredible lyricism from Kurupt, who in my opinion is one of the greatest rappers ever.

The whole joint is a classic.

The album is straight raw. Kurupt's lyrical abilities are unmatched and go hand in hand with Daz's Delivery. The G-Funk beats are the best they've ever sounded. As a whole, you will not skip one song at all. A++

Years ago I had been a huge fan of rap. We called it rap music. Gangsta Rap, G Funk, Bay Area, Dirty South, all that stuff...Kids these days don't have a clue. My musical tastes have progressed over the years and I am very intimate with electronic music now, but this is one album I can pull out of my archive and still listen to anyday. The beats here are by far some of the best around that era (the mid 90's). This album brings back so many memories its amazing. Its a shame what pop culture has done to 'hip-hop'. You won't find anything like this being made anymore.

Here is another blissful experience from Wingmakers.com site's music series. It doesn't matter whether one visits the site, believes in the idea behind it or not. The music speaks for itself and affects all who listen.

There is an uplifting experience to be had and it seems to change with the needs of the listener and the occasion. It always delivers.

I must say that the rhythmic beats/chants of Chamber 16 blew my mind by being so like a super hip dance sound, I didn't expect it. Yet at the same time, the sense of true spiritual gifts were STILL delivered.

Of the 5 Wingmaker albums to date, this one seems to be the one with more of a modern beat atmosphere. Each CD has a particular strength and this one is glorious. I bought all 5 and haven't regretted it for one second. I play each of them for different kinds of healing enhancements to each day. This is hypnotic stuff, and so habit-forming. I'm a happy camper. (smile)

This collection is the second of three volumes of materials...Each track is matched to one of 23 chambers (the chambers are part of an archaeological find from the extra terrestrial future or a wonderfully crafted myth for our times?). Each chamber contains the musical notation (decoded), a mural/art, poetry and philosophy (supposedly in a non-terrestrial language in code which has been "broken") and a mysterious piece of technology.

Wonderful percussion, excellent musicianship, some tracks really fire the imagination and wake up the mind, others seem more mechanical and somewhat formulaic music for a new age gathering. Shades of Loreena McKennett mixing Native American aboriginal with a sprinkling of middle eastern, celtic and east indian influence.

If you loved the wingmakers website, you'll enjoy the music. First Source (chambers 1-10) is the most musically accessible and Wingmakers Volume 3 has the most complex (and activating) tracks. I cannot specify a favorite among the three.

Yes, this is a world, ethnic, tribal electronic album and is indeed very good. But there are literally hundreds if not thousands of cds that fit into this genre and this ranks as an album that is a far cry away from sounding like Enigma within this genre. Soulfood is more traditional yet more abstract while Enigma is more ambient dance world pop and SENSUAL and is in my opinon ALOT BETTER than this! But I credit that not to one being above the other but because I simply prefer that sound over this one. Nevertheless I recommend this album to anyone who likes this sort of music, but when it comes to finding a cd I'd recommend to someone who likes Enigma there are plenty of other cds I'd suggest to Enigma fans before I'd suggest this one.

Soulfood is good, but I think it would be more accurate of reviewers to compare it to Loop Guru instead.

I found the wingmakers.com website first and then listened to the music from Chambers 1-10. I loved it... unfortunately I can't find the music. So, I tried this CD and absoltely loved it. I like Enigma, Dead Can Dance, Enya, music like that, and I'd have to say that this is better. It has more interesting rhythms and percussion, and the melodies are more engaging. The native chants are great as are the female vocals. It's my new favorite CD. You can play it over and over and never get burned out by it.

The Oblivians are an overall great band. I own this record and "Play Nine Songs With Mr. Quintron" (another good album, with lots of gospel.) When they recorded this album they just walked into the studio, smashed through their live routine and released it (the best way to record an album.) When my friend played me this album at first I wasn't too crazy about the Oblivians, so I would definitely say they are an acquired taste. This album is loud and racy, but good hearted. I would say the best songs are "Vietnam War Blues," "Jim Cole," "Sunday You Need Love," "Never Change," and last but DEFINATELY NOT LEAST, "Nigger Rich." And, let me say, it is not racist or slanderous, and the first line is the most important "A Nigger Can Be Black Or White." So, overall, this is a fantastic record, but I can see where it wouldn't be some people's thing.

This band is the best Crypt has to offer. If you haven't heard of the oblivians, do yourself a favor and check this out. This is low fidelity, high volume magic. If you like loud, fast music get this fast and play it loud. Your neighbors will complain but you won't care.

This has to be one of the worst CD's I have ever heard. I love good spiritual music but this CD lacks continuity. I don't even know what category to put it in. It is not gospel, not contemporary Christian, just a bunch of hodge podge. I don't know what Smokey was thinking. I eventually gave the CD to one of his biggest fans and she didn't like it. Pray about it long Smokey before you make another spiritual CD like this one. This was a disaster.

This is absolutely one of the greatest Gospel albums by a secular star ever. The message is as potent and theologically sound as "Slow Train Coming" and socially relevant as "What's Going On". His resolve of the "Human issue/Spiritual answer" equation is reminiscent of Van Morrison's Hymns. And yet it is pure Smokey. John Lennon once called Robinson "The greatest song writer in America". Now he has penned some gospel classics. Whether you are a fan of Smokey Robinson or Gospel music. This one is a must.

I definitely need 2 save my money on this one 'cuz I haven't give it much thought. I know it's hard to try it out and give a short listen. I think he needs to work hard next time in order 4 him to deepen more into his singing a lil bit while singing gospel. Believe me I'm still a long-time Smokey Robinson fan and never thought he had a gospel album out until day 1. Keep it up, Smokey. Look forward 4 the next album 2 drop out.

I'm not a big gospel person...in fact I passed this CD by several times before I finally bought it. Don't make the same mistake!!! This is a BEAUTIFUL lp. Contemporary inspirational music...not your typical gospel at all. Smokey's voice has aged to perfection and is still velvety smooth but now it's richer with greater depth. The writing is excellent. "I prayed on it" is a materpiece. Some of the songs really rock..."Standing on Jesus", "Gang Bangin". I can't get "Road to Damascus" out of my head! Signs of great songwriting - NO? Buy this!

I love this CD and it has a wide variety of good R&B songs. I bought this trying to get a CD with some good R&B because too many artists are one hit wonders or don't produce many good songs. This album delivers and I listen to it all the time. The songs are shown above. If you want another good R&B/Rap album I recommend the 2001 Grammy R&B/Rap Nominees CD. Great R&B/Rap and good bang for the buck.

One just has to look at the line up of this album to know that this will be an enjoyable listening experience.

Soul Food finds Cyrus Chestnut in four different settings, in a large group with the trio of Chestnut, Christian McBride on bass, and Lewis Nash on drums augmenteded by Marcus Printup on trumpet, Wycliffe Gordon on trombone, and James Carter on tenor sax. Also there is the trio plus vibraphonist Stefon Harris, just the trio, and two songs where Chestnut is solo. All of the players are extremely virtuosic and play with effortless grace and soul. Chestnut shines on every song and plays with a refreshing lack of ego. He is always playing a solo totally conducive to the feel of the song. The rhythm section, as suspected is superb. There is also an appearance by Gary Bartz, the alto player at the end of the album in a sort of epilogue.

This is the kind of album that seems familiar yet new, and is extremely enjoyable and accessible upon first listen. The opener, "Soul Food," is classic soul jazz Jazz Messengers style with great solos by Printup, Carter, and Chestnut. It is an awesome song and the kind of song that sounds crisp, swings, and sounds like an old favorite the first time you hear it.

Other favorite tracks include Chestnut's powerful and amazing solo rendition of "Swing Low Sweet Chariot" where Cyrus takes a song everybody has heard a million times and makes it his own. It's just a musical treat.

I also really like the quiet and sweet "Cerebral Thoughts" with Stefon Harris which represents modern and somewhat smooth jazz that keeps its soul and an edge. Harris rarely plays anything i don't like.

This album flows really well and is also one of those albums that you can listen to front to back and over again without feeling bored as it varies the line ups throughout the album. This album is just a really enjoyable album from start to finish and should appeal to a wide range of people.

So often, current jazz artists go one of two ways - strictly re-creating the sounds of the classics, or going off on a "new age" tangent all of their own. "Soul Food" exemplifies what jazz is to me...from sing-song like melodies to driving grooves that force your head to bop. Cyrus Chestnut does his own thing, creating music all his own that really swings in the tradition of the great jazz greats. And what a combo! It's so good to hear that slap of an up-right bass holding down the groove. If you like jazz...you'll love this CD!

You know how you have a few favorite CDs that you can play multiple times a day and love it every time? This one does it for me. It's jumped right up there with Dave Grusin's Big Band Allstars Live - which I've probably listened to over 100x.

I bought this CD based on hearing "Minor Funk" on local radio station, WDCB, in the Chicago area (great Jazz all day). Took a chance on getting the CD and consider it the best music CD purchase decision of 2001 for me.

If you like upbeat, really goovin', funky jazz or mellow ballads, this CD has a nice mix. Most of the cuts are really hip. Great features of sax, vibes, trumpet to piano, drums and bass. Very nice cuts. A few are sure to be "classics".

This is a great CD! I'm so happy that I ran across it here. The jams are tight & loose at the same time. Good swampy stuff and downright soulfull. I'll be keeping my eyes out for anything else Blue Mother Tupelo comes out with. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves music that jams with a southern Mississippi/swampy Louisiana/high lonesome Appalachian mountain combination. And their other CD rocks too ... I've got them both! What a band! 5 stars!!!!

What a refreshing CD! I really love the down & dirty grooves throughout this CD. All of the songs are powerful and full of emotion from beginning to end. Tommy Guerrero was under my radar until about three years ago and I heard some cuts at a friends house. The ex-pro skater had me hooked from then on. Definitely a Latin chill vibe but with lots of ,well, soul, hey, why not name the album "Soul Food Taqueria," nevermind. Anyway the music is way cool, perfect for summer days sitting under the shade of a tree with a nice cool one. Guerrero remarkably plays a pretty nice guitar(isn't it unfair when people have so much talent?), knows a thing or two about mix'n and writing music and the result shines on this chill out CD. The mood created by this disc is pure chill, cool dowwntempo to bring your pulse in check. Guerrero throws in some dub factor, like on "Tatanka," that features his groovy guitar picks. The vocal tracks are reminiscent of the blues in a style that would make Eric Clapton think he may have a love child out there. The thing that impresses me is the ability to integrate urban elelments with stylish tweeking of the frets that is one part surf dog music, one part cool jazz, one part Spanish guitar chill for one delicious downtempo groove unique unto itself. If you have never heard Tommy Guerrero before check this out after you go surfing or skating and your day will be complete. The disc is pretty nice through and through as each song contributes to the easy going vibe tapestry. Recommended for chill heads everywhere.

This is our first Tommy Guerrero CD, and the first time I've heard of him. I'm so pleasantly surprised, I can't tell you. Love every song on this CD. Great for setting a positive mood. How to describe this music? Mellow, upbeat, latin/jazzy/funk, definitely the overtones of funk, guitar playing with soul; some of the songs are very sensual; makes you feel like...doing something sensual!

Fave tracks: 3, 10, 13, 15, 17. But, again, we like them all.

This cd was a spur of the moment purchase, and it was one of my better buys. The cd is very dj shadow-esque in its ability to create a chilled-vibe in the room (or car-ride for that matter). It features Lyrics Born (from 'Quannum' fame) on one of the tracks (track 11: Gettin' it Together), and the result is fun lovin' criminals meets trip-hop.
It a fun cd that gets you singing, gets you chillin, and gets people asking, 'who is this!!'.

If you've been waitting as long as I have you may be disapointed, it's not as good as his other solo's. This CD is more like his collaberations, tracks 1,6,9 and 14 are small filler tracks that are'nt as good as anything on his first 3 CD's. Track 3 and 10 are off his CD w/ gadget and track 7 sounds like something that didnt make it onto that CD. The other 10 tracks are missing something. By far, the best is Gettin it together w/ lyrics born, a great tune that goes down in flames due to a substandard bridge. All is not lost howerver, if you like his collaborations better than his solo stuff you will feel different and this is probably a great CD for you and could even get you more into the solo stuff.
