Product Description
As the Jazz Crusaders in the '60s and the Crusaders in the '70s, Joe Sample, Wilton Felder, Wayne Henderson and Stix Hooper comprised one of the most successful groups in jazz history. Their brand of modern jazz filtered through tough Texas funk is unmistakable. This album features new material recorded at the 1966 Pacific Jazz Festival and their two biggest hits of the time - Young Rabbits and Freedom Sound - live from the 1966 Newport Jazz Festival. Added to the newly remixed original album are two new titles, not found elsewhere from Shelly's Manne-Hole in 1968.

5 out of 5 stars It was fun.......2007-05-28

I went to this festival. The Allman Brothers were smokin' - as you might have guessed. Then, so was everyone else. Whipping Post was like a nuclear bomb pressure wave in the face.

Think I'll get this....fun for me - and my six year old son. He rocks hard.

4 out of 5 stars Not bad at all.......2006-06-27

OK I do not know very much about the Allman Brothers but they really play excellent blues-based rock. Some of the songs are excellent. The sound is a bit murky in my opinion but that is due to the technique used at the time.

5 out of 5 stars I didn't know this existed.......2006-03-16

I love this 2 cd set. The Allmans opened and closed the Atlanta International Pop Festival in 1970. What a music festival this must have been. Hendrix even played one of the days.
These 2 shows must have been special for the brothers because they were still trying to create a buzz about their music and this festival was right in their backyard. According to the notes the crowd grew to over half a million during the weekend. The brothers certainly played like they had something to prove. One reviewer complained that Duane's guitar was out of tune. Not to me. True, Duane's playing was all over the place - some licks worked and some didn't. The entire band seemed to be reaching as far as they could on every song. The results are a show not nearly as smooth and even as the Fillmore shows but that only adds to the beauty of this set and makes it a necessary purchase for the collector. And I am one fan who would have loved to have been able to attend this show.
Stand outs:
Duane first slide licks on Elizabeth Reed don't really seem like their on the mark but once he and Dickey lock into the guitar lines together (one on slide, the other straight lead) the experience becomes surreal. Interestingly, Elizabeth Reed is approached the same way during both shows.

Stormy Monday (2nd set, disc 2) rivals any other version I've heard by them. They manage to wring true blues out of every note.

Moutain Jam is great as always. You get the added guitar of Johnny Winter in the 2nd set but I have to agree with the reviewer who says that it's hard to tell he's there. Still, this is their version of Dark Star and is always amazing to hear.

Buy this along with Ludlow and the Fillmore shows and you have a perfect picture of how the brothers played when they were the tightest band in the world.
5 stars just for the retro artwork (I believe the cover is how the actual poster art work looked).

4 out of 5 stars Two More Good Days for the Allmans.......2006-03-05

This two-CD set might well be subtitled "The Allman Brothers in All Their Glory and Then Some," as the first disc, clocking in at a colossal 79:55, still isn't long enough to capture all of the second part of the instrumental "Mountain Jam" - yet another testament to the ABB's tireless musical powers. That fadeout ultimately makes little difference, however, as "Mountain Jam," like many of the tracks here, is on both discs - comparison fanatics take note!
Recorded on July 3rd and 5th, 1970, these performances (before a crowd of over a quarter million) fall roughly midway between the LUDLOW GARAGE and AMERICAN UNIVERSITY sets both chronologically and musically. One can hear the beginnings of the astounding guitar solos which would dominate the famed 1971 Fillmore East performances, even as soon-to-be-discarded early numbers like "Every Hungry Woman" and "Hoochie Coochie Man" add welcome variety to the set list. The recording quality is excellent, allowing one to savor every soaring lick and earth-shaking chord. The Brothers still hadn't quite reached their Fillmore-era peak, but they were well on their way, and LIVE AT THE ATLANTA POP FESTIVAL is a riveting reminder of how many days and nights on the road it took to make this the greatest live band that's ever been. Four and a half stars for two and a half hours of sheer sonic genius!

Album Description

Jefferson Airplane created the sounds of a generation. Their smash hits "Somebody to Love" and "White Rabbit" provided the soundtrack to the Summer of Love, virtually inventing the era's signature pulsating psychedelic music and personifying the decade's radical counterculture.

5 out of 5 stars Weep for a lost dreamworld!.......2007-04-20

Let's face it - we are never going to hear a sonically perfect version of this legendary recording. But this latest package is the best I have heard and is certainly clearer in sound than the Thunderbolt release (welcome as that was) from the early 90's. The concert is pitched between the Airplane's two most innovative albums 'Pillow' and 'Baxters' and features a band that was youthful, hungry and at a creative peak. 'Today' with its one off harpsichord-like arrangement, is especially haunting. RCA are continually releasing a seemingly endless series of recordings from the Fillmore East. These have merits of their own but to my ears at least, Jefferson Airplane were never as other worldly as they were at Monterey. Buy this album - and weep for a lost dreamworld!

3 out of 5 stars Yet another re-issue of the same music.......2007-03-14

This music has been released several times under many different titles. It is about 36 minutes long and the sound quality fair to poor. It is better than most of the other performances by other groups released from the Monetery Pop Festival. It was recorded for a TV show and was never meant to be a high fidelity recording.

This set is also on the Monterey Pop Festival boxset.

The peformance is fairly good, but not the best of live Jefferson Airplane. With the mediocre sound quality, I would suggest getting many of the other live albums (except Miracle Live) before getting this one.

5 out of 5 stars IDENTICAL to earlier release.......2007-01-29

Despite a reviewer's claim that this release has superior sound quality to the 1995 U.K. label Magnum release, to my ears they're identical. If you have the earlier release, you gain nothing by buying this. Great music, but don't buy this if you have the earlier release.

4 out of 5 stars When they were good, they were very good........2007-01-29

Out of the dozens of shows I saw in the 60's and 70's, Jefferson Airplane was one of the best. Unfortuantely they were also one of the worst. This Monterey Festival set sounds like one of the best. Very nice sound quality. And although the order of songs is screwed up, I am really glad they left in some of the mistakes like eq'ing the microphones with rumbles and all. A couple of times the band appeared to be lost but Jack Cassady just kept going strong until the others caught up. "Ballad of You and Me and Pooneil" gives us a glimpse of where the band was heading. History has proved this a very important performance for the bands that were there-same for the Airplane. The four page booklet gives a general history of the band by Alfie Falckenbach (Records Collector) and a much shorter history of the Festival itself. Both are helpful.

3 out of 5 stars Change track order to real performance order and bring back stage banter!.......2007-01-21

Audio quality is very good, however track orders are switched for this edition which causes some confusion when listening. For example the electric piano in "Today" can be heard before some tracks as Grace is preparing to play it, but then "White Rabbit" starts playing. If the tracks were left in the order they were played, this would be a stronger release. There are no fades either, which sounds quite choppy at times. I also dislike how they edited down the introduction group where Grace laughs, chosing to barrel into "Somebody to Love" instead. Until then, most of the material can be found on the Monterey International Pop Festival Boxed Set. Still, "The Ballad of You, and Me, and Pooneil" stands out as whats to come with After Bathing at Baxters later in the year.

5 out of 5 stars A Superior Performance, And CD Release, To Live At Leeds.......2007-07-04

The Who's performance at the 1970 Isle of Wight festival was phenominal. In my opinion, it is better than their "Live At Leeds" concert. Leeds seemed to be more polished, but Isle of Wight shows more of the authenticity of The Who's early-day live performances. The music is played with much energy, and the banter between songs gives it more of an actual concert flavor, unlike Leeds. The Leeds concert sounds like a studo album that just happened to have an audience.

Not only is this a superior performance to Leeds, it is also a better CD release. Leeds omitted songs, chopped up other songs, was presented out of order, and was re-released with inferior sound quality. Isle of Wight has none of those qualities, and is a perfect release in every way. Of course, die hard fans will want both this and Leeds, but if you are trying to choose, this is easily the better buy.

5 out of 5 stars This Is Better Than "Leeds". Seriously........2006-11-07

Many people say you need to get "Live At The Leeds" to experiece The Who in all their glory. Personally, if you ask this fan, I completely disagree. Now, I greatly enjoy "Live At The Leeds", but I feel at many times it lacks energy and feels very incohesive and as a whole, yes, I'm going to say it, it's a tad overrated.

To truly experience The Who at their zenith, look no further than the two disc "Live At The Isle Of Wight Festival 1970". Now this is classic Who. As one reviewer pointed out, Roger and Pete are much more focused and energetic than they are on "Live At The Leeds". Pete's guitar work is nothing short of astounding, and vocally Roger has never been better. The Ox as always plays bass than anyone who has or ever will touch the instrument, and Moon is his wild, over the top self throughout the whole running time, never missing a beat.

Every song, including a terrific "Tommy" set, is full of life and is a sheer joy to listen to. The sound quality is overall terrific, and the liner notes and packing are very well done. This is a highly worthwhile purchase.

2 out of 5 stars Long time fan finds only disappointment.......2006-09-15

This geezer, who owns vinyl going back to My Generation, was disappointed. You can read all the glowing reviews here (I sure did) and be swayed. Or you can save your dough and go back to the Live at Leeds 14 track version, which includes many of the same songs, just in a more stirring performance. And, as a bonus, you get to skip the perfunctory Tommy stuff completely. It just ain't worth it. From the sadly missing horns in the overture to the strained vocals throughout, this Tommy is a hobbled version of the original.

I read here The Who was the finest live act ever. Maybe they were, though I sure did not see every big band in those days. I saw many, including the Moon-drumming Who twice, and was richly rewarded both times. Those were fun nights, with an energy and vibrancy I enjoyed. This CD just does not measure up.

No need for more comment. I didn't much like it. Leeds is still a winner, this, a remote runner-up.

5 out of 5 stars WOW !!!! WHAT A GEM!!!!.......2006-08-08

When i first heard this cd i was shocked on how good the recording sounds. It really captures the band way back in 1970.I dont write many reviews but this is one of those cds that gets better and better even after that first listen and I can remember just thinking wow we are lucky to have this recording. Pete townshend guitar sound is amazing. This is one of those cds that brings you right to the front row. Thats the best way to describe it!I wish more bands had great recordings like this. And its a double cd!! i never realized how great the who was in 1970.

5 out of 5 stars The Album Masterpiece and Amazing Concert for 600,000 people: Astonishing.......2006-05-25

The album that changed the course and career of this unbelievable band in their live performances. The only word for this album is only one and non more nor less than: astonishing.

To start, "The Who", is the best live band that ever stepped into a stage, (then follows Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Bruce Springsteen and we know the whole story) and undisputably, this album is quintessential for building a descent rock collection and part of the three essential live albums from "The Who". (Live at Leeds, Live at the Isle of Wight and finally Live at the Royal Albert Hall in order of greatness)
But maybe this whole order is wrong, of course "Leeds" is a legendary album, but this is actually similar to "Leeds".
This album is the same of "Leeds" in songs:
- Heaven and Hell
- Can't Explain
- Young Man Blues
- Summertime Blues
- Magic Bus (ending both shows)
- My Generation (the "Leeds" performance is a little bit too long, but more complete, although I prefer this version)
- Substitute
- Shakin' All Over/Spoonful (Twist & Shout is new in the concert, but the previous medley is included in "Leeds" plus the whole performance of "Tommy"!)

This album is barely different to "Leeds", except obviously for the way they play the songs. For example, they play "Heaven and Hell", "Young Man Blues", "Sparks", "Substitute" and of course "Magic Bus" better on the "Leeds" album.
Then the whole "Tommy" performance is overall similar to "Leeds" except for the order of some songs. Of course there are also songs on this album that are not including on "Leeds" and the same with "Leeds". The best versions on this album rather than "Leeds" are: "Summertime Blues", "My Generation" and songs that are not included in the "Leeds" album are: "I Don't Even Know Myself", "Water", "Naked Eye" (all three of them are included in the "Who's Next" album) and the medley of "Shakin' All Over/Spoonful/Twist and Shout". (though I don't know weather to decide "Shakin' All Over Medley" is better on "Leeds" or on this one, because the one from "Leeds" has an amazing guitar solo, but this doesn't; instead, they play "Twist and Shout" which is a great surprise. You decide)

Now, if you want me to review each song on this album individually I'll gladly do it:

The Who.- Live at the Isle of Wight Festival 1970

Disc One.-

1.- Heaven and Hell.- The opening song to this breath-taking concert. Starting at 3:00 AM, the crowd went nuts! There wasn't much spirit on this one like on "Leeds", but still an amazing performance of this amazing song written by John "Thunderfingers" Entwistle.

2.- Can't Explain.- Just like "Leeds", following "Heaven and Hell" and exactly the same version, obviously the sound is different but the structure of the song is similar. One of their first singles and one of their best.

3.- Young Man Blues.- An amazing cover by this incredible live band. Again: there is not as much spirit on this song like on "Leeds", but the song is overall great. This was one of the best songs of its time and "The Who" revived it more vividly and powerful.

4.- I Don't Even Know Myself.- A very powerful song and which's lyrics and interlude is breath-taking and fun. This song is played with much spirit and probably one of the best live version of this great song. Released for the first time on the "B"-side of "Won't Get Fooled Again" single, then added to the "Who's Next" album, makes this song a classic along with the rest from that same album.

5.- Water.- One of this album's best songs. This song is simply undescribable, for its vocals are so full of energy from Roger Daltrey; which's guitar is so chord-pounding and which's solo is so full of potential; which's bass-pounding sound shakes the whole audience and the band itself; and which's drums, as usual, are so full of potential, power, complexity and irony all-together (classic Keith; RIP). First appeared on the "B"- side of the "5:15" single in 1973. Then, included on the "Who's Next" album.

6.- Overture.- OK. Time for "Tommy" to heat up the audience and the concert. Everyone love "Tommy" and this song ain't bad. This song is practically a medley of the songs: "We're Not Gonna Take It", "Go To The Mirror", "See Me, Feel Me", "Listening to You" and finally "Pinball Wizard", but with no lyrics. (these songs appear later on "Tommy's" live performance on this album, the "Leeds" album and of course the studio album.

7.- It's A Boy.- This is where the story really begins and Tommy is born. The song is short, as well as most of the rest from "Tommy", but when put together, you get an uncanny rock opera.

8.- 1921.- Many would also consider this a short song, but, again, when put together it makes sense. I guess that's why "The Who" played the complete "Tommy" on their live perfomances.

9.- Amazing Journey.- "Amazing Journey", amazing song. When you put this one next to "Sparks" and you will obtain a saucey rock performance with amazing bass-pounding, gut-busting drums performance, and of course the guitar will not miss out!

10.- Sparks.- I don't need to say anything here. Just listen to the song carefully to apreciate this one. The second instrumental on the "Tommy" performance. Also catalogued as one of the top 10 rock instrumental. Way to go!

11.- Eyesight to the Blind (The Hawker).- A "small" song, but nontheless, part of "Tommy". The bass on this one is amazing!
The silent guitar is also great.

12.- Christmas.- A great song, with an appropiate length to listen to it individually. With this song, the first album ends. But will continue.

OK. We've already studied the first album. Now go get a snack or a drink and I'll wait for you. Really, go..............

OK! Let's continue!

Disc Two.-

1.- The Acid Queen.- Alright!! "Tommy" continues!
This song, individually almost makes no sense, although it has an appropiate length to listen to it individually. I really advice you listen to this one along with the whole "Tommy" performance.

2.- Pinball Wizard.- One of the masterpiece individual songs from "Tommy". Played very similar comparing to "Leeds" and the studio album of "Tommy". This is one of the very few songs from "Tommy" that makes sense without having to listen the whole album. Also one of "The Who's" best songs ever written.
Listen to version of "Elton John's", it is amazing and much more vivid than "The Who's", but that's another subject.

3.- Do You Think It's Alright?.- Nothin' to say here. Doesn't make any sense. Listen to the whole "Tommy".

4.- Fiddle About.- Yeah, listen to the whole "Tommy" to understand this one as well.

5.- Tommy Can You Hear Me?.- Same here !!!!!

6.- There's a Doctor.- Although nice little song... doesn't make any sense unless you listen to the whole "Tommy".

7.- Go To The Mirror!- Finally!!! A song that makes perfect sense when listened individually and something to talk about. This song's riff is really cool. Also one of the best riffs in rock history. The lyrics are also really great. To fully experience it, listen to this one along with "Smash The Mirror".

8.- Smash The Mirror.- Great drumming on the beginning of this one. The background vocals are really great and the guitar work is unbelivable. You can also listen to this one individually, but it's not THAT complete. Although, fantastic song!

9.- Miracule Cure.- Many people consider this one a joke, because... I mean.... it is 14 seconds long !!
But everything is part of the show !!! Remember to listen to the whole "Tommy" to appreciate this song a little more.

10.- I'm Free.- Another song that can be listened individually and makes perfect sense. This song is another one that is amazing and a classic on "Tommy", along with "Pinball Wizard".
The guitar riff is also a highlight to this fantastic song!

11.- Tommy's Holiday Camp.- Funny song, although a kind of short, is the only one that was written by genious drummer Keith Moon (RIP). One of the funniest songs on the album; both "Tommy" and this one.

12.- We're Not Gonna Take It.- Probably the best individual songs of "Tommy" it is kind of long, but necessary. This song has an amazing riff, both from guitar and bass guitar. The vocals and lyrics are breath-taking. This is one of the best songs performed on this live album! Explosive! Amazing! Probably the best song from "Tommy" and with this one, the live "Tommy" masterpiece ends; but the concert doesn't!!! There is still a few more to check out, and probably the following songs "make" this album what it really is!

13.- Summertime Blues.- Originally performed by Eddie Cochran in the 50s, though the original version of the song from Cochran is more of a country than a rock 'n' roll song, "The Who" made this song "their song" by adding a more precise riff, and one of the best guitar riffs in history of rock 'n' roll! They also added a stunning guitar solo, short but powerful. This song is more known to be played by "The Who" rather than Eddie Cochran, and they deserve it! They took a song that was in "coma" and revived it, charged it, boosted it and the result is this masterpiece!!
LONG LIVE WHO!!!

14.- Shakin' All Over/Spoonful/Twist and Shout.- Simply amazing!
This medley makes the concert what it is !!!!!!!!!
The original song is "Shakin' All Over/Spoonful", but the crowd wouldn't expect a song written by one of the best bands of the history of rock, (although I insist that "The Who" is much better than "The Beatles", right?) the surprise caused an impact on the audience at 4:00 AM with the crowd jumping around and rocking like they never have! And who wouldn't?

15.-Subsitute.- Many say that his one is "The Who's" best single of their entire career as genious musicians. This song was written by Pete Townshend (guitarist) like most of "The Who" songs. They considered themselves a "substitute" for the "Rolling Stones", that's how the song was born. This is one of the funniest "Who" songs ever! Although if you listen to a certain point on the song, Roger Daltrey kind of mistakes with the lyrics and makes up a verse of the song. Then a few seconds later he stops singing and then sings again. That didn't stop the crow in jumping and rocking! This, for me, is one of the best versions of this incredible song!

16.- My Generation.- The show just keeps getting better and better and hotter and hotter!!! This song was requested since the beginning of the show. (on disc 1). Finally they play this one. For those who don't know this is the best rock anthem in the history of rock !!!! Typical 60s rock 'n' roll song.
This song made the audience even crazier and more excited. They only expected more and more from these rockers!!!!!

17.- Naked Eye.- OK. "The Who",here, in order to build more excitement to the show, they play a new song at that time; "Naked Eye". Appeard for the first time on the "Odds and Sodds" album in 1974 and the was released on the "Who's Next" album. This song starts off slow and then mind-blowing the audience's heads into a violent rock 'n' roll movement. When this song was over, the audienced became totally crazy!!!!They only expected the show to get better!!!

18.- Magic Bus.- .... And it did!! When "Magic Bus" started, the audienced were barely able to move; they were stunned!!
An amazing classic from this amazing band was played after a mind-blowing song. The crowd had nothing to do here but to rock 'n' roll all night (in the words of "Kiss").
The audience didn't want the show to be over, but unfortunatley, it had to.

The show has ended at 5:00 AM! And the audience still wanting more from "The Who". They were satisfied, but they wanted to be really really "full" !!!!!
Unfortunatley the show had to end.

Now see here; the moral of all this show is to demonstrate what an amazing band "The Who" was and still is! Probably MY all-time favorite band, because they know how to satisfy an audience and listeners and followers of their music.
"The Who" is a perfect example of a rock band that has influenced the rock bands we hear today! And this album is a witness to the miracles they've done. In order to experience a full "Who" miracle-work, but this album along with "Leeds (Deluxe)" and "The Royal Albert Hall Concert", because these three albums will be the testament of "The Who", not only a testament, but a proof of their existance, no one will ever forget them....

"Ladies and Gentlemen, a nice little group from Shepherd's Bush, London, here's "The Who" !!!!!!!

One thing you've got to say about the Moody Blues: unlike the remainder of their grittier Brit Invasion peers, middle age seems to suit them just fine--better than youth, in fact. Albums from the band's late '60s/early '70s commercial heyday pretty much fixed the Blues boys' stance. Having forsaken the modest charms of their initial R&B-influenced recordings, they forged a haughty amalgamation of MOR rock, bombastic symphonic ornamentation, and proto-New Age lyricism--hardly the stuff of restless youth. This live set finds Justin Hayward, John Lodge, Graeme Edge, and Ray Thomas performing their hits ("Tuesday Afternoon," "Nights in White Satin," "Ride My See-Saw," and so on) live with backing from the World Festival, recalling, of course, the band's '67 breakthrough, Days of Future Passed. Roll over Beethoven and tell Mantovani the news. --Steven Stolder

5 out of 5 stars Moodies still got it........2007-06-01

My dear Moodies may be a little older and a lot grayer but these fabulously talented men can STILL play the living daylights out of their instruments and rock it like no one else! Justin and John's voices have aged well and their chemistry with each other and their audience is one-of-a-kind. Great CD and the DVD is well worth getting as well. Rock on 40 more years Moodies!!

5 out of 5 stars MOODY BLUES LIVE.......2007-05-07

EXCELENT CD SOUNDING BETTER THAN THEY DO ON STUDIO RECORDINGS THIS WAS THE LAST TIME RAY THOMAS PERFORMED WITH THE BAND.
THE ORCHESTRA COMES OVER REALY WELL & MAKE THE WHOLE PERFORMANCE
    SOUND GREAT.

5 out of 5 stars Superb blend of orchestra & band.......2007-03-10

I believe that my DVD of the live performance mentioned that the conductor had done the arrangements. Regardless, they are absolutely flawless. You seldom see such integrated and sophisticated collusions
of pop and orchestra that don't sound artificial - these don't - it
makes you believe that Justin was writing for just such an environment.
I've just about worn out my DVD so I thought I should get the CD
and put some of the songs into my playlists. I can't imagine a complete playlist without at least In Your Wildest Dreams, English Sunset, Tuesday Afternoon and a few others. It wouldn't be complete.

    3 out of 5 stars It's okay, but there's room for improvement.......2006-07-27

This Moodies live recording with a full orchestra is a bit more subdued and mellow (and so is the audience) than their "Red Rocks" release from 8 years earlier. Three new songs from their 1999 studio release "Strange Times" are performed here. Hayward's uptempo "English Sunset" and John Lodge's "Words You Say" are performed well, but Hayward's vocals on the poignant "Haunted" are extremely strained, shaky and sometimes flat. It's enough to make one cringe. In perhaps one of Ray Thomas' last performances before retiring from the group, he delivers an extremely short version of his classic "Legend Of A Mind" with a flute solo that lasts maybe 30 seconds. In past live performances, an extended version of this song may run from 9 to 12 minutes. The rest of the Moodies classics here are well performed by these legendary "veteran cosmic rockers". My overall opinion is "Hall of Fame" is not as strong a performance as "Red Rocks" from 1992, and judging by the album title, this may be the band's subtle method of focusing attention on them to be rightly voted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, an honor which they richly deserve. This album is worthy of 3 1/2 stars.

5 out of 5 stars They must be the best........2006-07-05

In the 60's/70's I enjoyed listening to the Moody Blues - as the years carried on I had my taste in music that varied, forgetting the Moody Blues ever existed until I began to listen to their songs again. I was so impressed, I had started buying their CD's and class them my favourite group. They are number one playing live on stage and their concert at the Albert Hall was astounding. Hoping they record more live shows. they are the best.

5 out of 5 stars Triumph arguably on top of their game!.......2005-12-02

Triumph Live at the US Festival was released in September of 2003 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the band's classic performance at the US Festival in May of 1983.
This album was the band's third live album after 1996's King Biscuit Flower Hour Live album recorded on the 1981 Allied Forces tour.
This album was recorded during 1983's Never Surrender tour.
Among the highlights on this CD are Rock and Roll Machine with Rik Emmitt's classic nine minute guitar solo which has a teaser of All the Way thrown in and Minor Prelude and a Spanish riff all played on distorted electric guitars CRANKED TO 11!, Magic Power, Never Surrender and When the Lights Go Down.
This classic live album is the third superb live album from Triumph.
    This album is hugely recommended!

5 out of 5 stars Triumph at their best!.......2003-10-19

When I first heard this show I was bown away. This Is Triumph at their absolute best! This Is the third Live album they've released with another one A Night Of Triumph coming in 2004. I would have loved to give it five stars, but if anyone has been to this show or or knows about it, they will realalize that the opening song Too Much Thinking was omited maybe do to technical problems. They also added some keyboards that was not played on the show. But all in all I highly recomend this to anyone that loves live music.

1 out of 5 stars The worst so far!.......2007-03-28

What a rip off!! Sound is in the tank for most of this garbage. How can they package this stuff and sell it?? How could I have bought it. If you want a pretty good sounding Mountain bootleg get the New years show. It at least can be heard!!

4 out of 5 stars Vintage Early Live Mountain is Cool!.......2006-09-25

Although some audio elitists may denegrate the sound fidelity on this, for Mountain enthusiasts, this is dynamite stuff! The quality is actually good, if you cut the high hiss out. These are probably the two earliest recorded live Mountain gigs in existence; Woodstock being about their fourth or fifth gig and New Canan H.S., a month later, being the first gig with Corky Laing in the group on drums. These live gigs show the cool power, style and class of Mountain in their early stage, which later, even developed further.

    4 out of 5 stars A must buy-live Mountain at their finest.......2005-09-26

For some reason Amazon has messed up the title...This is actually Mountain-Vol 7 Woodstock Festival/New Canaan H.S. 1969 and shows Mountain at the peak of their abilities...too bad the 6 Woodstock songs suffer from drop outs..the music disappears when the singing starts..but the vocals by both Leslie and especially Felix Pappalardi sound excellent..it'll make you cry that this great singer was taken from this world by his jealous wife so soon..But the New Cannan show sounds very good actually and is worth the price alone to anyone into Mountain..both the bass and guitar are very clear and the sound is very balanced..use your narrow band filter and the tape hiss disappears appreciably and enjoy all the best Mountain songs done will real fire like only a new band can...the Woodstock recording is a very nice bonus...and play it loud!

    1 out of 5 stars Rip off.......2005-09-18

not only is this the wrong set from the wrong place it is not Woodstock either...do not waste your money on this junk.....

    2 out of 5 stars wrong tracklist & title.......2005-08-24

    Sounds like a cleaned-up bootleg.
This is not the Capitol Theater; it's Woodstock and New Canaan H.S.
And the tracklist is 17 songs - completely different from what's listed.
    For the completist...(sigh) like me.

It is wonderful and just very good; quality music at it's best

5 out of 5 stars one of the best CDs I own.......1999-03-20

I love this CD. I can listen to it in any mood because it is the perfect mix of upbeat and soft, sad songs. "The Christians and the Pagans" offers an unusual, much-needed social message, but none of the songs are preachy; some stand out less than others, but there are no poorly sung songs on this album. "I Always Told You the Truth" and "75 Septembers" are two of the best; my favorite song is "Solitary Hero." This CD is a definite must-buy.

4 out of 5 stars CHANGING OF THE GUARD.......2001-04-06

The 1969 Woodstock has passed its torch to the Falcon Ridge and Newport Folk Festivals. On this cd we get introduced to the American version of the Cranberries-The Nields, the new Folk Queen-Dar Williams, the Byrds influenced-Kennedy's and a host of good modern singer/ songwriters-Greg Brown,Richard Shindell and Vance Gilbert. "Falcon Ridge" has moments, but no knockout punch. The breathy Patty Larkin "Open Arms" comes close.

5 out of 5 stars A sample of the best of the festival........2000-03-25

I shouldn't say that this music is the best. After ten years of holding the festival, this is just a very small part of all of the wonderful music that has been happening at Falcon Ridge. I have been exposed to so many great artists that I wouldn't have heard anywhere else. Even though it is a folk festival, it is an exposure to all different kinds of music. Hopefully by listening to this compliation, people in the northern east coast area will want to attend this yearly festival, see falconridgefolk.com and find that this wonderful music is as good as the live music.I rate this very high as I was at all of the events as they were recorded and they bring back wonderful memories.
