AMAZING! She is so much better live!.......2006-12-02
This CD rocks! This is Sarah Brightman on her Harem World Tour, and this performance was recorded at her stop in Las Vegas. The first two tracks, "Kama Surta" and "Harem Overture" debut from her newest album, entitled HAREM. The two tracks are connected, but in the actual Harem Tour, the full piece "Harem" is sung. If you go to www.youtube.com and type in "Harem Tour" in the Search Bar, you can see live videos. I would prefer that the album has placed "Harem" instead of these other two tracks. The third track, "It's A Beautiful Day", is from Madame Butterfly, written by Puccini. This version is Brightman's twist, which some more pop and some English. It's pretty cool. The fourth track on the album, "Dust in the Wind" is from EDEN, an amazing album. Track 5 is, "Who Wants to Live Forever", and it seems as though Brightman never creates a tour without putting this piece in it. It's a beautiful tribute to Queen's rendition. Track Six is "Anytime, Anywhere", also from EDEN. I'm not really into the Foreign Language - English songs, but this works very well, especially because she ends the song with the classical foreign language. The seventh track is Brightman's rendition of Dvorak's "Song to the Moon", or "La Luna". The track is beautiful! The eighth track is Puccini's "Nessun Dorma", and Sarah masters this beautifully! There is no other soprano I know that can sing this piece one octave up and can hold the ending note for ever!!! Track 9 is "The War is Over", which is followed by "Free", both from HAREM. Track 11 is "A Whiter Shade of Pale", from LA LUNA. It's beautiful to listen to. Sarah's version is very gentle, but has a lot of energy in the chorus. The twelfth track on this album is "Twisted Every Way", followed by an instrumental version of "The Phantom of the Opera" Theme. The next track is "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again", which is extended at the end, in which you hear some men cry out "WE LOVE YOU SARAH!", and she responds cutely with an, "I love you, too." The audience laughs! Track 14 is "Time to Say Goodbye", the duet that made Andrea Bocelli famous, and skyrocketed as the number one single sold in German history! The last live track on the album is "A Question of Honour", from "Fly", which is awesome! The last track on the album is a bonus track, which I don't really prefer. However, the whole album is simply amazing. I much prefer Sarah when she is live. She has a more magical quality! If you love Sarah Brightman, then you will love this album.
ALSO RECOMMENDED : Since there is so much Sarah Brightman to choose from, I also recommend EDEN, TIME TO SAY GOODBYE, LA LUNA, CLASSICS, and DIVA.

Inspiring, Beautiful and The Sweetest Voice!.......2005-08-21
What an album, absolutly beautiful!
We, the fans of this great artist finelly have in our hands a live album, and it's amazing:
-The voice is totaly live, she sang about 24 complete songs in the show, but the album only contains 15.
-Snow In The Sahara is a lovely song.
If you have the chase of get this alubum, don't doubt and get it; It wond disapoint you!
astounding performance.......2005-06-07
an impeccable concert experience that successfully elevates the album to majestic heights. I had long been a fan of Dead Can Dance and the unparalleled work of Lisa Gerrard. When Sarah Brightman ventured into these Middle Eastern sounds on the Harem disc, I thought it was too derivative of the Dead Can Dance sounds (there is even a sample used on one of SB's songs that had previously been used within DCD).
However, experiencing this epic and intensely mystical concert compelled me to realize the individual and unique glory of Sarah Brightman. Also, this concert is so phenomenally entertaining at many levels that I couldn't help but fall absolutely in love with the special magic of Sarah Brightman. Obviously, the expansive Middle Eastern milieu can accommodate more than one angelic vocalist!
I now consider Lisa Gerrard and Sarah Brightman to be geniuses who both warrant goddess status in the pantheon of lyrical greats. To see either one of them perform live is surely one of the most powerful and memorable sensory experiences one could ever have!
Great, of course.......2005-03-18
Sarah's voice and style are terrific, as usual. However, I have to say that her version of Anggun's "Snow on the Sahara" is fairly bland, especially compared to the original Anggun version. Sarah has the chops but lacks soul on this great song. Everything els here is very nice.

Album Description
Clint Mansell (ex Pop Will Eat Itself) has created an amazing score for the hit summer film. Sahara is the first hit of the summer movie season and the soundtrack continues to thrill fans of the film! Starring Matthew McConaghey, Penelope Cruz, Steve Zahn and William H Macy, Sahara takes the audience on an action-packed trip through exotic settings and new challenges.
Customer Reviews:
Hold Tighter!.......2006-10-26
Raving reviews about the music drove me to purchase this soundtrack - my first Clint Mansell score. When "Ironclad" began, I felt transported into a period of adventure much like the effect of James Newton Howard's score to WATERWORLD.
I immediately fell in love with Mansell's action-packed score written for orchestra with inclusion of electronic elements. Some of the tracks contain fun, rhythmic, ethnic elements giving the score a somewhat "epic" feel.
Favorite tracks:
-Ironclad (Awesome brass theme build up with percussion choir!)
-Hold Tight! (Fast paced action scoring!)
-Hold Tighter! (Most fast paced action scoring!)
-Bomb Alley/Ironclad Revealed/Victory (Longest track on album)
This is definitely a surprise among many overlooked scores of 2005. Don't miss this one!
Hold Tight!.......2006-06-29
To put it simply, I love this soundtrack.
Clint Mansell, who scored the catchy but sinister Requiem for a Dream theme, manages here to fuse desert tunes with fast-paced, block-buster style sounds. I know, it sounds a little wild, but that's exactly what this soundtrack is--wild.
My personal favorites include the opening theme, "Ironclad," and it's remix "Rock On!" "Hold Tight" and "Hold Tighter" are two songs that always manage to get me riled up, and "Truck Escape" has a beat that'll stay stuck in your head for hours to come. I know other reviewers have recommended these songs, but I liked them so much I had to suggest them too.
I think the last few soundtracks Clint Mansell has scored have been excellent, and I believe it's only a matter of time before he matches ranks with the likes of Hans Zimmer and James Horner, two other composers that I respect very much. I can't wait to hear what he comes up with next.
A Great Adventure Soundtrack!.......2005-08-24
This soundtrack has a lot of great music!
Clint Mansell has done a great job making the music.
It has soft and tender music, like ""Calliope at Night" and "Bonding", but also great action-adventure music like the adventures theme that is heard at "All Aboard!" But you can also find great action-adventure music in tracks like "Hold tight!" and "Hold Tighter!"
But the soundtrack also includes african music, with people singing. Tracks like "Here we Go!" and "Celebration" Which are a joy to listen to.
If you are more a fan of suspencefull music, you can listen to "Into the unknown" Which begins with beautiful music, and goes slowly further into suspencefull music. The title of the track says it all.
Also "Kazim's theme" is slow and ritmic but yet fritening.
On this soundtrack you can also hear a lot of music that gives the feeling of hot desert lands, and arabic influence. Tracks like "Solar plant" and especially "Mosque", but also "Truck escape (Which is very fun adventure music)"
With other words, all kinds of instrumental music style can be found on this soundfull soundtrack!
The great thing about this soundtrack is that it gives the feeling of the movie back while listening to it. That is always a good thing.
The music is powerfull, fun, ritmic, refreshing, beautiful, but most of all, it gives the sound of adventure.
I hope you will enjoy this soundtrack as much as I do!
Sahara Sounds.......2005-08-10
Great to hear the sounds that went with the movie and not just the album that was inspired by the movie. I loved to get sound tracks because eveytime you listen it brings the action back.

Look no further, there is no better Anggun. She is one and only........2007-05-31
This album may please music lovers of variety of genres: pop, jazz, rock, and classics. All this is due to the incredible voice that moves through ups and downs flawlessly, shouts and whispers, stops and rains, involves and pushes aside, waves welcome and good bye. All these oppositions are in one voice, the voice of Anggun. Incredible highs and mellow lows are a short description of the pleasing experience of listening to the CD.
The music is the blend of pop-rock and ethnic melodies. Such songs as "Snow On The Sahara", "By The Moon", "Life On Mars" became the international hits. They are catchy with well-memorable tunes. Once you hear them you will always recognize the songs no matter where you hear them the next time. And, this is true to the Anggun's overall performance. She is really recognizable!
The voice is beautifully surrounded and promoted by the music arrangements. The band supports the singer perfectly. The instruments are loud but never over the voice. The voice always stays in front and clear. The sound engineering is good, thanks to Sony.
The album is a great effort by Anggun. I personally consider the album as the best in Anggun's discography and recommend it to any music fan. Start your incredible music journey today!
Very special music.......2007-01-05
Angunn has a singular voice. Her musics are amazing both in English and French.
Indonesian Siren Stirs The Soul.......2006-01-25
Anggun isn't just another beautiful woman promoted by a record company solely based on her looks. Yes, she is incredibly attractive but there's also a voice to complete the package.
Her exotic Indonesian looks are well complimented by a smooth, husky and seductive voice that strongly reminds me of a young Annie Lennox. A comparison especially evident in track 1 - Snow On The Sahara - and track 7 - Selamanya -.
Definitely a strong debut album/CD, proving you can be both beautiful and talented at the same time.
Miraculous music from the wonderful Anggun.......2005-10-19
If you don't believe snow could fall on the Sahara, it means you haven't listened to this cd yet! Anggun, who has one of the most incredible voices in the world, really does make you believe anything's possible - her music can bring so much hope, light and beauty into your life. All of her songs have an amazing feel to them - dreamy, bit oriental and...full of air and wind. I know it may sound abstract, but you'll certainly find out it's true, when you listen to Anggun's music. Take my word for it. What's more, this album features one of the best songs in the pop music history - "Snow on the Sahara" - an ultimate anthem of hope and wisdom; if I were to choose the greatest song of 90's, that would be the one. Don't hestitate for a second and get one of the best cd's of the last decade, from one of the most inspiring and talented living artists.
One of the best albums in the past 10 years.......2005-07-02
Anggun was one of Indonesia's superstars. When she left Indonesia in 1995, settled first in UK and eventually moved to France, no one ever imagined that there'd be someone from indonesia doing this AMAZING stuff. I'm very proud of her : a true talent from my homeland, singing in 3 different languages, and making such a phenomenal work. 'Snow' is a remarkable work; mixing beautiful world sounds and graceful new age music plus pop-rock influences. Seriously, you can hardly find music like this expecially in a full-commercial music industry nowadays.
Now, the review:
'Snow on the Sahara' - one of the GREATEST songs ever. I listen to it every single day, and will listen to it forever in my life. 'If your hopes scatter like the dust across your track/ i'll be the moon that shines on your path...' 10/10
'Over their Walls' - energetic but not so special. the chorus parts should've been added some other lines. 7/10
'Breath of an Angel' - beautiful but somehow not so special to me, but this song is still good for me 8/10
'Rose in the Wind' - LOVE IT TO DEATH!. I love the emotion, the beauty and the harmony of this track. The lyrics describe myself. 10/10
'My Sensual Mind' - very sensual . 9/10
'Valparaiso' - a great pop rock track. 9/10
'Selamanya'- the most haunting track of the album. in english, it means 'Forever' 9/10
'By the Moon' - better than 'Breath...', very beautiful 10/10
'Dream of Me' - better than 'Over their Walls', i love it! 9.5/10
'Secret of the Sea' - another beautiful ballad. the simplicity of the tracks gives an enchanting sounds. 10/10
'Life on mars' - LOVE IT!!!!. a LITTLE bit better than Bowie's version. nice ending. 10/10
Anggun has released her NEWEST english song entitled 'Undress Me' (currently only released in italy, france, and indonesia). Her newest album 'LUMINESCENE' is currently available on AMAZON.COM (here!). ANGGUN, YOU GO, WOMAN!

Good, but not good enough for McCoy.......2007-07-07
Ebony Queen is brilliant, but after that the the alubm loses interset. Sahara meanders on for 20+ minutes. There are some great moments on that song, but there are also lots of moments of waiting for something to happen. Tyner plays the Koto on this album and the results are not all that exciting. Tyner has many other brilliant albumns around the same time as this albumn. I recommend purchasing these instead. In paritcular Sama Layuca, Extensions, and Expansions are brilliant.
Intense, spectacular.......2002-01-22
Sahara is the first of Tyner's great Milestone albums. People who are familiar only with his 60s work with Coltrane and others may be surprised -- though rooted in modality, his playing here is dense, chromatic and HUGE. "Rebirth" approaches some 60s energy music in terms of intensity. Sonny Fortune's saxophone playing is quite heated on "Rebirth" and "Ebony Queen", while Tyner's piano has the presence of an orchestra. But there is also time for reflective playing, as on the piano solo feature "A Prayer for My Family" and the dreamy "Valley of Life" (McCoy plays a koto here). The closing title suite really holds together and covers a lot of ground, just like its namesake. If you like this, get the live Enlightenment (also on Milestone); both are exceptional, innovative (!), and acoustic post-bop. (Sadly, Ken Burns hasn't heard them.)
Shining gem in a great discography.......2000-03-23
Tyner recorded prolifically for Milestone throughout the 1970s, and produced a number of fine recordings. "Sahara" might be the best. It represents the state of the art for the time of its release, 1972.
The greatest strength of this recording lies in its varied aural landscape. If you want Tyner's signature thunderous chords and lightning right-hand runs, cue up "Ebony Queen" and "Rebirth." Need some spiritually rich solo piano? Move to "A Prayer for My Family." Then try the 23-minute title track, which has his reedman, Sonny Fortune, playing flute, his bassist, Calvin Hill, playing reeds, and the group joining drummer Alphonse Mouzon with various percussion effects. As far from a blowing session as you can get, this extended performance is a well-planned trip across a variety of endlessly fascinating terrains.
As if all this isn't enough, on "Valley of Life," Tyner picks up a kyoto, a Japanese stringed instrument and produces a delicate impressionistic sketch, aided by Fortune, again on flute.
"Sahara" represents the best that jazz had to offer in the early '70s. The musicians aren't afraid to display their chops (Fortune adds blazing soprano and alto sax to his delicate work on flute), but Tyner clearly is intent on finding new territory and expanding the definition of jazz, and he succeeds brilliantly.

A good piece of work.......2006-10-28
This second full-length album from House of Lords--Sahara--was released in 1990. It has ten tracks. One of these, "Can't Find My Way Home," is a rendition of a song from Blind Faith. All in all, this album's material is in a straight-ahead hard rock musical direction. There is solid songwriting, pleasing musicianship, and nice sound quality. Gregg Giuffria does not disappoint when it comes to his gratifying keyboard playing. James Christian does an effective job with his gravelly-voiced vocal delivery. The songs that I consider to be favorites are "Shoot," "Sahara," and "Remember My Name." The earnest, stately "Shoot" starts off with mysterious-sounding keyboard work from Giuffria. "Sahara" is a well-written, epic-sounding, regal composition; Giuffria provides majestic, tasteful keyboarding, the backing vocals are smooth and spirited, Ken Mary's drumming is enjoyable, and the song wraps up nicely with a well-crafted outro. The power ballad "Remember My Name" is attractive, and Christian supplies industrious singing. "American Babylon" is another example of a cut that I like--it is fun and sprightly, and Christian sings enjoyably. Even though the CD booklet does not have the song lyrics, a couple of color photos of the band are included; one of these is spread over two pages and is interesting. The disc is just over 44 minutes. Sahara is a recommendable album.
A Second Great Album By House Of Lords.......2004-10-19
SAHARA is a second great album by House Of Lords. The first three songs, including a powerful cover of Blind Faith's "Can't Find My Way Home", are great, and side two has the exceptional "Remember My Name" and "American Babylon." There is some filler, as on the debut, but the great songs are enough to make this a five-star album.
This band kicks ...!.......2003-08-24
This band was formed and produced by Gene Simmons and who would know great rock better than he? This album is an excellent follow-up to their self-titled first. Greg Giuffria provides some excellent vocals to compliment the hard rocking sound of this band. This band was a sleeper, but one listen and you'll be well surprised.
Hot Rock.......2003-07-27
This CD is hot, every song has a driving rock beat, heavy rock that is great, I love this CD, wore my original one out, played it so much!

The Rippingtons are ostensibly a band, but in reality the name is just a vehicle for Russ Freeman and his ideas. Freeman not only writes almost all the material, he also plays all the guitar parts and most of the keyboard parts. Moreover, he arranges, produces, engineers and mixes the recordings himself. Ever since they emerged in 1987, the Rippingtons have dominated the jazz charts, even though they play instrumental pop, not jazz. On Sahara, Freeman integrates two pop vocal numbers with the eight instrumentals. Jeffrey Osborne is the guest singer on the Rippingtons' remake of the Spinners' '72 hit, "I'll Be Around." Unfortunately, Freeman's arrangement smooths out the rhythm, mutes the accents and induces Osborne to deliver a bland vocal with none of the passion of Philippe Wynne's original. This is not just pop music; this is easy-listening pop music with every challenging element surgically removed. --Geoffrey Himes

Rippingtons:Sahara.......2006-12-09
My first CD of this excellent group and still my favorite. Anyone who doesn't like this CD is eating to much Cake Frosting!!!!
Their First Flop!.......2005-12-29
By the time this CD came out I had already been a fan of the Rippingtons for eight years. Obviously, those who reviewed this before me weren't very familiar with their earlier works. I was terribly disappointed with most of this!!! This CD does have it's moments....Girl With The Indigo Eyes, Native Sons Of A Distant Land, and True Companion. Overall, I felt that it was their first flop!!! I just know that they can do better than this because all of their previous disks were better.
"Sahara" is quintessential Rippingtons!.......2005-09-02
This CD is well crafted. There is a balance between tunes with a rock and roll edge, some more mellow songs and one with a calypso flavor, complete with steel drums! Also included in this musical work is a soulful rendition of the musical standard "I'll be there." The CD wraps up with a hard driving piece titled "Porcha". This band is hot!
Top reviewers? Stay away.......2004-04-01
Talking about Sahara, I find this disc as one of the best in the Rippingtons catalogue probably second only to "Black Diamond" and "Weekend in Monaco". It is really focused and entertaining, each track is really good obviously in the trademark Ripp's soft and sophisticated sound. It is really good, I own this cd since it came out (and all the Ripp's other cds) and I still listen to it very much. I own everything from Charlie Parker to John Coltrane, from George Benson to Van Halen, from Wes Montgomery to Greg Howe, I'm a serious jazz musician, I think you can trust my opinion. I enjoy Rippingtons, Charlie Parker, Van Halen, Shawn Lane and everything in between, because they're all fantastic musicians. Send one copy of Sahara to Jimmy Page, maybe he could learn something about orchestration, guitar playing, harmony and more than everything else melody.
One Of The Best.......2004-02-16
If you like the Rippingtons you will love this CD. If not give it a try you may come to love the Rippingtons like I do. Highlights of the album are a wonderful version of "I'll Be Around" sung by Jeffrey Osborne and the title track "Sahara".
