Product Description
One of contemporary jazz's popular sax men, Richard Elliot has also been one of the genre's most self-sufficient. In Paul Brown, Elliot made the perfect decision for his first collaboration with an outside producer, both sonically, creatively and - with an eye towards keeping himself viable in an ever changing marketplace - commercially. The result of this collaboration, Jumpin' Off lives up to its title; this easy going, slow sizzling set is very different from his usual aggressive style, with tunes that slowly develop, rather than explode in your face. His longtime fans will have no trouble taking the leap of faith. "Contents under pressure" might be a good way to describe many of the tracks. Elliot's trademark has always been about searing, gritty intensity and high and low dynamics, grabbing hold of a note and pushing it higher, then holding it for seconds at a time before reaching back down for the lower register. But on free flowing ballads like "One Last Kiss" and "All Night," he holds back and caresses the notes, rather than attack them. Jumpin' Off is a must have.

Jumpin' Off - Richard Elliot.......2007-05-12
If you love smooth jazz, this is the album for you! It is really kool.
Richard Elliot's "Jumpin' Off " - Smooth Jazz at its Best!.......2006-08-14
At first glance the title of the album-Jumping Off-really did not appeal to me. Not to say that it in any way sounded bad but the title just did not instill in me the idea of the sweet, mellow, smooth music that I like to hear coming from Richard Elliot. But I was totally wrong!
One day I decided to listen to the sample tunes from this album and I liked what I heard. This CD comes highly recommended by me to lover's of Smooth Jazz. I couldn't find fault with so much as one of the tracks on this album, yet I have to admit that one of my favorites is "Slow Burn" it will set your emotions on fire; it blazes with feeling.
So just as a book can not be judged by its cover, neither does the title of an album always accurately convey to the viewer of it the true sense of feeling of what is inside the cover of it. BUY IT! I don't think that you will be disappointed by it.
His Best All Wrapped Into One!.......2003-06-22
Richard Elliot has been my number 2 Saxophonist for years now. This collection of songs on Jumpin Off has to be his best ever. No CD/ALBUM prior or since compares. Easily in my top 10 CD's ever!!!
A Smooth Jazz Masterpiece.......2002-10-07
This album is as smooth as silk! and just as sexy. Richard Elliot is a true genius, recording many classic albums over the years, but this is his smoothest, and sexiest ever. If you are a smooth jazz fan, be sure not to miss this one. Buy it now.
I love great sax...........2000-11-28
I was first introduced to Richard Elliot at a jazz festival in Winter Park, CO last summer. Since then I have tried to buy every CD he has released. Jumpin' Off is smoothe and relaxing. It makes you want to turn down the lights, get the fire going, curl up with the one you love, and let the music take care of the rest. Elliot is a truely talented musician and I hope he keeps the great sax playing for years to come.
