With tunes like "Softly as a Morning Sunrise" and "Arizona Sunrise," George Benson has delivered his best pure smooth-jazz jams in many years. Most of the album, however, caters to the urban-contemporary/R&B crowd. Benson is in great voice, often adapting the rapid hip-hop meter used by modern R&B singers like R. Kelly and Joe, the latter of whom co-wrote two tracks here ("Black Rose" and "Missing You"). The only vocal track that comes close to jazz is "Stairway to Love." Benson does some octave picking on his creative instrumental reading of Luther Vandross's "Take You Out," but like much of the rest of the album, the tune was meant for R&B fans. The outstanding vocal talents of Andrea Simmons ("Cell Phone") and Cameroonian Richard Bona ("Strings of Love") also deserve mention. --Mark Ruffin

I Wish This Song Would Go Away!!!.......2007-05-22
This song is more of a Destinys Child first album song. This didn't sound well coming out of a grown woman at all. I hate it.
Thank Goodness This Song is REPLACEABLE.......2007-05-02
This is the most annoying song I've ever heard. Wherever I go all I hear is people singing "To the left! To left!" and "You must not know 'bout me! You must not know 'bout me!". Over and over again. And that "No Scrubs" theme was played out back in 2000 but Beyonce is still dragging it out. If she's not singing about how sexy her body is or going clubbin' with her girls, then she's singing about some loser. Some women think just because they're attractive and buy their guys expensive gifts, then they're going to have their behinds ki$$ed. Then when it doesn't work out they get upset and start singing "Me, Myself, and I" Part 100. This song lacks maturity and depth and is for simpletons.
Feel The Funk! The Fire Is Blazing!.......2007-03-27
If you enjoy variety, dance beats, and highly charged styles then get this single. It takes a club spin bringing dance beats into the spotlight along the title track enhancing the overall listening. The music is fast, highly paced with energetic beats sure to satisfy. The attitude-filled lyrics accompanied by the variation of styles from track 1 and track 2 make this a worthwhile buy for the fabulous production! Entertain your senses, feel the moods of take-charge attitudes, and enjoy the dance styles.
Irreplaceable [Album Version] (3:48) is the song many have heard from her album titled, "B'Day". This has the nice vocals by Beyoncé, excellent musical instrumentations, confident lyrics, and catchy beats. If anything, this can make any person who has lost a romance to another feel empowered because life doesn't end. The song takes you on a journey of new beginnings that have sparkles, fantasies, and much more. The beats are R&B with some soul, and a hint of pop, dance, and hip-hop.
Ring The Alarm [Freemasons Club Mix Radio Edit] (3:26) is not like the regular album version as there are echoing elevating trance-like effects accompanied by much techno swirls. There are plenty of vocals making it fun to sing along or just dance. The song has much soulful attitudes as Beyoncé's vocals are strong, fierce, and in full control. The beats along her vocals make her sound like a tiger ready to take on anything or anyone. The heavy alarm sounds are not as vast as in the regular version. Overall, if you enjoy fast paced highly energetic Tina Turner styles then this will get you feeling a funk!
stupid.......2007-02-16
yes. I like this song and i listen to it quite often. But this song is so stupid. No one is irreplaceable. I don't care if your a famous singer, famous actor, doctor or lawyer, and average joe, or a loser. It's hard to find a new boyfriend/girlfriend or lover. She sings about finding a new lover in the next minute. Her songs lack substance except for independent woman and survivor. Even though she's a better dancer she's no Madonna. There is only one Queen of Pop and that is Madonna. And yes. Madonna is still very successful. Even though Madonna's Confessions on a Dance Floor flopped in the US, her albums are selling like crazy in other countries like Europe. Her tours are always solded out too. I guess countries have better taste than the US. Because the only thing Americans listen to is stupid hip hop and fake singing singers like Nicole Richie, Paris Hilton, Ashlee Simpson. I hear Halley Berry is releasing an album. Give me a break.
Fairly Imprinted.......2007-02-03
There really hasn't been anything widely definitive when it comes to R&B recently. The past year it has been about Beyonce', mainly. She has tried to put up a tougher edge with her music, but she has shown a more upbeat side though. Her third single, Irreplacable, from her sophmore solo effort B'Day, is so far her most upbeat song off the record. The song is fairly catchy in her voice, and feeling of the song. I thought this wasn't a bad song, where there really hasn't been that many good songs that really stood out. I just hope though that her next single, tries to a bit better than this one.

off the hook.......2007-05-04
I enjoyed this album from beginning to end. Every song is just jammin. My favorites are "Do You Still Love Me", "They Must Know", "I Can Love Again", "More Than I", and "Crucified With Christ". Those songs are just beautiful. "Breakin Away", "Until My Change", and "No Weapon" were good also. Commissionned vocals were nice on this project and Marvin Sapp sounded awesome.
All I can say that this is a must have for any Commissioned fan. I remember they used to play the majority of these songs on the radio in the late 90s and their still hits in my opinion. I haven't listened to this CD in awhile, now I can't stop listening to it. It's truly a well put together album.
Just as good then as it is now.......2005-09-16
I was about 10 years old or so when my father bought this album. I loved it from the very moment I heard it. Now ten years later I went out and bought my own copy because I remembered how deep and fresh it was. The vocal harmony is amazing even if Fred and Keith were absent. Not to mention to powerful message thats behind every track no matter who produced it.My favorite tracks are "They Must Know" "Crucified With Christ" and "Do You Still Love Me".I highly recommend this album to any and everyone if you don't already have it.You can't help but to be encouraged by it.
The best of the best.......2004-07-17
Commissioned always brought it, but this release is the best. Vocally, musically, lyrically...everything is perfect and all of these songs still sound fresh nearly ten years after their release.
Because Commissioned always keeps pace with the times, Irreplaceable Love would be just at home in someone's mainstream music collection as it would in their spiritual collection. PLEASE do not take that to mean that The Message is watered down; far from it. I am speaking solely in musical terms here.
This album is truly irreplaceable as the best Commissioned album to date. If you don't already have a copy, treat yourself to one today. I guarantee you it'll be one of the best investments you'll make.
Remember YOU were Crucified with Christ!.......2003-12-15
There are really no words to express how incredible this group's harmony is. It's Unbelievable! From the moment I heard "Only What You Do for Christ Will Last", I fell in love with this group and their songs. And now my favorite is "Crucified with Christ". I have to play this song over and over again because it is the most dedicated heartfelt song to Jesus Chirst that I've ever heard. PLEASE If anyone has or knows the lyrics to this song. PLEASE e-mail it to me at...chocolategrace@collegeclub.com
God Bless!!
Incredible vocal arrangement.......2002-04-27
This album is a must buy for all Commissioned fans. Even the ones who miss Fred in the group. This group has lost nothing in regards to production work. The harmony is tight as ever. The only thing that I miss on this album is another powerful voice like you know who. The blend, of course, is out of this world. Montrell fits in nicely on this album. Only thing I'm trying to figure out is why he didn't make the album cover. What's up with that Montrell?! "I Can Love Again" and "More Than I" are my favorite songs on this album.

The Title Says It All.......2007-05-12
Easily the most Non-Benson George Benson CD. If You're a GB devotee (like myself) This is one to pass up.
If you're a rap/hip hopper buff who's curious about Jazz then this one is for you!
It has trace elements of Jazz while maintaining a hip-hop theme. What was George thinking when he did this one? It was a great ideal (to someone) but POOR execution. Avoid this CD
What a waste of talent.......2006-11-02
I have been buying his albums for years and never regretted a single purchase, until NOW!!!But Hey George you more than make up for it in 'Absolutely Benson', so Ill forgive for this.
Wonderful Six Play from GB!!.......2006-08-06
The track list for the CD I own is slightly different:
1. Six Play
2. Whole Man
3. Irreplaceable
4. Loving Is Better Than Leaving
5. Strings Of Love
6. Cell Phone
7. Black Rose
8. Stairway To Love
9. Reason For Breathing
10. Missing You
Contemporary urban grooves, a quiet storm feel, and loads of guitar playing in the background best sum up this CD.
Opening cut `Six Play', a lovely ballad with a catchy chorus and backing vocals, some excellent harmonizing vocals from a female vocalist, is an ode to his six play guitar.
`Loving Is Better Than Leaving' is another stunning guitar sprinkled ballad with a killer chorus, and lyrics about remaining in a painful relationship. The flamenco tinged `Strings of Love' is awesome and features some killer guitar licks.
One of my favourites is the moving, midtempo `Cell Phone', and ode to his late father that has George singing in a yearning voice, asking the phone operator if a cell phone can get to heaven as he would love to hear his father's voice again. Like `Six Play, this also features some great harmonizing from some female vocalist.
Other standouts are the acoustic/string filled beauty; `Black Rose', and closing track, a largely instrumental cover of Case's `Missing You'.
A great album with wonderful six play from George...
Surprising mix.......2006-02-03
I picked the album up at the local library just because it was George Benson. Starting it up in the car, I was surprised that the first song was more about vocals than guitar, but I gave it a chance because I enjoy his singing also (cf. "On Broadway"). I'm glad I did. It seems to me to be his most complete album. There's not one song I don't like. The grooves are bouncy, the melodies memorable and the performances honest. "Take You Out" is my favorite. "Cell Phone" is haunting. These songs stay with you for a very long time. I've been missing them all since returning the album, so I've decided to buy it.
Just Lay Back And Enjoy.......2006-01-01
George Benson is truly an amazing jazz player and singer-- Irreplaceable is by far one of the most beautiful pieces he has came out with--and when I heard the way he did Luther Vandross song,I was thinking the whole time how good those two would be making a song together--I love Black Rose the best because his background vocalists were AWESOME!!! My fiancee listens to alot of rap and R&B but when he listened to this album he was blown away.I am telling you for those who do not listen to jazz or don't think it is "upbeat" enough for you--I dare you to listen to this one album and then you tell me your thoughts--
Beautiful,Smooth,Sensational and Relaxing is how i would rate this album--oh yeah--HAPPY NEW YEAR AND GOD BLESS YOU ALL--

Customer Reviews:
Based on Irreplacable.......2006-12-10
I absolutely love the song irreplacable, After Deja Vu it is the best song on the B'Day album. So the three stars are because I love that song so much. I like the song ring the alarm, but not enough to want a million versions of it. Since irreplacable is the title for this short CD then I feel that the ehnaced video should be that of the title song...not ring the alarm. And for that reason I do not give the CD 4 or 5 Stars.
Where is the Full Length Freemasons Club Mix?.......2006-11-16
The Freemasons full length club mix of "Ring The Alarm" is great, yet it is not included on either the "Ring The Alarm" CD single or the "Irreplaceable" singles. I don't understand why the label chose only to include the radio edit here, but it made me decide to not purchase the single. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Artists who do not release their material tend to become irrelevant. They are also a great advertisement for illegal downloading.

Want To Feel It? If Not, To The Left, Please!.......2007-03-19
This single has the title track backed by 2 highly charged dance club hits sure to make you want to dance up a storm! From all the different "Irreplaceable" singles, this one has more club trance, techno effects to enjoy on track 2 as well as some excellent rap in track 3.
Irreplaceable (3:47) is off Beyoncé's sophomore album titled B'Day. While the words to the song display strength, courage, and total power it also shows how confidence, and faith also play a part to achieving your dreams of love. While the world may seem like it's ending the truth is there's always a *shinning* star. The vocals are pleasant in sound and the music and beats are excellent in R&B/Soul. Not quite club music, or dance and not quite rap but a nice warm-up to tracks 2 and 3. So get the feeling going strong for the next 2!
DeJa Vu Freemasons Remix (8:05) has the typical techno swirls, vast echoing trance chirps and enhanced electronica not present on the regular album, edit or radio versions. The song is slightly changed from the original as the beats take off to emphasize dance beats, and many nights on the dance floor. Much of the lyrics are repeated and Beyoncé's vocals sound fabulous! There are many repetitive transitions with elevated instrumentations that lower and elevate definitely hot! Dance lovers will find this to be a true club favorite for sure!
DeJa Vu The Remix (3:52) has more rap, bass, and drums! Jay-Z steps in rapping in full force along with Beyoncé displaying a back and forth sure to satisfy! Fans of hip-hop will enjoy this tremendously as the beats bring more funk.

Album Description
'Irreplaceable' signals an exciting new direction for George Benson, into contemporary & R'n'B. The urban feel of the album comes courtesy of composer/producer Josh Thompson, whose credits include songwriting & production for Aretha Franklin, Babyface, Tyrese & others. Thompson wrote or co-wrote all of the album's ten tracks & also recruited R'n'B star, Joe to lend a hand with background vocals. The solid groove of Benson's classic sound gets a new lease of life on this exciting new venture. Never was 'Irreplaceable' a more apt title for one of music's all-time greats. GRP/Universal. 2003.

Mutton dressed as lamb.......2004-03-16
The greatest jazz guitarist of modern history has forgotten how to play the guitar. The few licks he does play are basic and boring. The vocals are quite honestly an embarassment.Mr Benson simply does not have the force of voice or vocal dynamics to sing this type of R&B.
The songs themselves are not even average. This is an album to bore and put you to sleep. The worst album recorded by George Benson for over 25 years. George,go back to what you do best - Play the guitar and scatt - get together with some great musicians as on Absolute Benson and play jazzy funky tunes.
Hopefully this was a stomach ache you needed to get out of your system - that passed I hope the next album finds you well!!
Having read some other reviews I thought I may have been unfair so I listened again. Absolutely terrible - I could barely give my copy away.

No no no this can't be happening to all us devoted GB fans.
I've waited for several years for this New George Benson CD to come out and hit the stands. When I heard that it was an import I said hang the cost! Let me at it!
Wow what a horrible let down. No guitar work except for this guy that is playing a sick acoustic guitar.
It like his third or forth release for WB when the guitarist that played Flash Dance, only worse!
I didn't want to resort to buying bootleg recording of GB but whats left? Wait another 4 years for this type of S___???!!!
Easy does it, but not really.......2004-01-25
George Benson is having a hard time keeping up the quality of his records. After the surprising Absolute Benson, he seemed to have found a style of music which combined his jazzy sound and his need to give it a bit R&B-flavour. This album nevertheless is a little bit too much of R&B. Therefore this album gets a little slick. His brilliant guitar playing is overflown by beats and R&B-voices, and that's a pitty. The sound is ok, but is doesn't sparkle. And that's what we may expect from a guy with his talents.
Change is always good,Benson is leading the way........2004-01-03
This is not your typical George Benson cd..instead this is More R&B with soul and class. His emphasis is singing with a modern approach to captivate his audiance. Those who don't love this cd are stuck in distant pass where the emphasis is mostly smooth jazz...grow up folks, times have change, kids are downloading music for free....hopefully this music is MP3 resistant...i will recommend the Japan version if you can find it.
I thought it was a FAKE.......2003-12-29
When I heard a tune from this album from radio, I could not believe when the DJ said it was George Benson. I had to buy the CD, I have all of Benson.
Listening to it it's a pure torture for a Benson fan: first, it's not a jazz CD. Ok, this is not necessary you'll say. I agree, if the CD is good music, but....
Listening to this CD it's impossible. It's one of the worst all-the-same-boring-R&B-commercial-product I've ever experienced. Benson guitar almost does not exist, nothing exciting in the whole album, I had to force myself to hear it all.
After 2 listening pains, I sold it to the used record shop in the neighborood. Do not waste your money in this one.
