He becomes involved with the school's disciplinary system when he chooses to fight with the boy who has been bullying him. The death of Franco ends up playing an important part in the film's conclusion. - It is said that adolescence is an age of discovery but for most people it is a time of confusion: the future, studies, sex, hormonal changes, the generation gap.... and so it is for Ramón. No adult today would come through the least bit sane if they had suffered the changes which happened, overnight, to a boy of nearly 13 in Seville in 1976. You are my hero is also the story of a convulsed period of unrest, Spain at the beginning of the Transition. A period marked by change, hope and the struggle, which in one way or another, were decisive in forming the personality of whoever lived through this period with intensity. A period which we are actually living through again in one way or another.
