Description
The "Italian Stallion" rediscovers his roots in this exciting, thrill-packed drama that reunites Sylvester Stallone with the OscarÂ(r)-winning* director of the original RockyÂ(r). Upon returning home from his latest triumph, Rocky Balboa (Stallone) learns that all his money has been lost by an unscrupulous financial advisor. To make matters worse, his fight-relatedinjuries force his retirement from the ring. So Rocky, his wife, Adrian (Talia Shire), and his son,Rocky Jr. (Sage Stallone), move to their old, low-rent neighborhood in South Philadelphia. There, the fighter must resolve the deep-rooted resentment held by his son, a bitterness that grows when Rocky trains Tommy Gunn (Tommy Morrison), a young boxer who soon rises to national prominence. When Tommy turns against his mentor and publicly taunts him, Rocky knows he must fight once more. *John G. Avildsen, 1976

Rocky V.......2007-05-30
I LOVE the "Rocky" series!! I'm a BIG Sylvester Stallone fan, and the Rocky movies make us "underdogs" feel like we have a shot....!! Not to mention that "Sly" is really HOT looking in boxing trunks!!!!
Father-son bonding saved this.......2007-04-07
I sat up late last night watching this movie and I have to agree with most that this was the weakest of the Rocky movies in terms of plot and plausibility. The Rocky of the first four movies, who despite his lack of education and slow exterior, is far from stupid and rather shrewd in reading people (except maybe his brother in law Paulie). In this movie, Rocky makes departures from character that brain damage can't explain. It's hard to believe that Rock wouldn't see through a violent upstart like Tommy, trust alcoholic Paulie to be in charge of his finances at all in the first place, or be that distant from his son (though of course he doesn't realize he is at all in his zeal to develop his own version of Mini-Me). And that street fight was just corny.
However, what saved this movie for me was the interaction between Rocky and "the kid" because it was played by a real life father and son. Sly and Sage didn't have to act those scenes-those tender shows of affection (mostly on Rocky's part), and Rocky's heartfelt plea to assure his son of his wish to keep the "home team" intact, were absolutely genuine, and made the movie worthwhile to me (of course, I love sappy stuff like that).
I'm only sorry Sage didn't return for Rocky 6...
Decent film but new Rocky is a better bookend.......2007-03-27
Unlike a lot of reviewers, I won't totally trash Rocky V. It actually had a decent story but there was just something that it lacked in terms of trying to be the final Rocky.
Certain parts in the film actually are pretty good but they just don't go together very well. While none of the sequels equal the original Rocky (with the exception of Rocky Balboa), all of them seem to have a flow to them that this one kind of lacked. In fact, when I view this film, I rarely look at the whole thing. Most of the time, I forward it to the end with the streetfight which is probably the best part in the whole film! If you notice, the new Rocky barely mentions Rocky V except for the phrase "Home Team" when he was talking to his son! That's how lowly regarded this film is.
I can only recommend this film to die-hard Rocky fans or to those that want the whole story. Otherwise, I'd say skip this one and get the new one along with the first four films.
KUDOS.......2007-03-22
Don't be discouraged by the poor user reviews this movie received. In my opinion, this is one of the best Rocky movies ever! This one has one of the best developed plots, twists and turns of any of them. I won't spoil the movie if you haven't seen it, but this is one you definitely should watch and has become probably my favorite of them all.
Not the best one but still entertaining.......2007-03-05
Rocky 5 has Sylvester Stallone coming back from Russia with a bad concussion after his fight with Drago. His head must be so bad that he doesn't notice that his son is like 12 or 13 now instead of 8 yrs old like he was when he left him in part 4 to go to Russia lol. Rocky has to retire since he suffered some brain damage. They can't afford their big house anymore and have to move back to the streets where Rocky grew up. Meanwhile I'm sure they could've got good money for Paulie's big talking robot maid that Rocky bought Paulie in Rocky 4 lol. After Rocky revisits Mick's old gym, he decides to be a train people there. A young boxer named Tommy Gunn persues Rocky to be his new manager. Rocky is against it at first but decides to eventually.
Rocky gets so close to him that he doesn't notice that he's ignoring his own son and that he's not happy. Which starts to hurt their relationship. Since Rocky never actually boxes in this one, the movie is a little more forgettable than the others. This movie is more in tune with the original style of the first movie than it's like the flashy and cartoonish "but entertaining Rocky 4".
It's more about Rocky's struggle after boxing and how hard it is for him to not actually be in the ring himself. When managing Tommy, he basically sees himself in the kid but Paulie warns him that he's not anything like him. Especially after Tommy starts to listen to a sleazy promoter instead of Rocky. He believes he's ready for a title and that Rocky is holding him back. The promoter gets in his head so much that he's soon picking a fight with Rocky but don't expect an actual boxing match betwen the two. But Rocky getting pumped up by picturing Mick telling him to get off his butt makes the fight scene entertaining anyway. Hell it's what makes the whole fight entertaining actually!

Get shot in the head and become a better person. This 1991 Mike Nichols (Wolf) film stars Harrison Ford as a big-shot cold-hearted lawyer who gets a bullet in his brain during a holdup. The film de-emphasizes the traumas of recovery to focus on the title character's personality change after the fact. The canny Ford gets to work from his full, familiar palette of arrogance to boyishness, and even builds Henry from top to bottom after the wounded fellow awakens with no memory. But this is a slow and unremarkable film from Nichols, its sentimentality eclipsing all else, most of all profound insight. --Tom Keogh

...shine in this movie! If you don't love it, there is something wrong with you! Highly recommended!
EXCELLENT LITTLE KNOWN FILM ONE OF FORDS BEST!.......2007-04-08
This a really good film that has not received it's due. Ford plays a very successful work-aholic lawyer that gets dealt a pretty bad hand.....at least so it would seem at first. This is not to be missed!
Very good message.......2007-03-14
A realistic and heart warming story of a couple and their daughter who go through a difficult trial. Coming out knowing the true value of love and life as it should be.
Harrison Ford fans will love this movie........2007-01-12
A wonderful story line and a rare opportunity to see Harrison Ford in a completely different character than usual. Great acting by all, a story about life the way it really is, and a happy ending!
Much better than its reputation, if you have a heart..........2006-10-04
I recall most critics trashing this film 15 years ago when it was new. I heard an especially vicious critique on NPR, of all places. Then I saw it, and liked it very much. Of course it is sentimental and manipulative, but all films are manipulative. I liked Harrison's work, and I even liked Annette Bening, which does not always happen for me. Most of us wonder whether, if we suffered a serious brain injury or a spinal cord break, if we would survive, and cope. This film shows one fictional guy facing that crisis, and becoming a better man for having lost some of his mental toughness and job skills. Those who sneer at this touching film perhaps have already lost the humane sense that Harrison Ford's character acquires through suffering.

The fascination of watching Damage is similar to the fascination of watching a car crash in progress--you know something unpleasant is going to happen, but your attention is riveted to the scene of destruction. In the case of this acclaimed drama, adapted by playwright David Hare from the novel by Josephine Hart, the destruction results from a collision of sexual attraction between a British governmental official (Jeremy Irons) and his son's fiancée (Juliette Binoche). Blind to the damage they'll cause to others and themselves, they begin an obsessive affair based purely on impulsive attraction and the hidden emotions that feed into their immediate physical desires. As you could expect, this leads to emotional fallout for everyone concerned, lending multiple interpretations to the film's title and allowing Miranda Richardson (as Irons's wife) to give a brilliant performance drawn from raw anger and betrayal. Under the direction of Louis Malle, this forceful drama never resorts to sordid detail or gratuitous titillation. Rather, Malle and his esteemed cast have explored the ways in which the power of sexuality supercedes the rationality of logic, when mutual attraction is stronger than one's ability to resist temptation. Damage makes it clear that such an indulgence will always come at considerable cost. The DVD of this fine film includes a behind-the-scenes featurette and the original theatrical trailer. --Jeff Shannon

bad movies are dangerous, they just go on & on & on.......2007-06-11
how strong an impression did this movie make on me? having watched it 2 or 3 weeks back, i had to just now go look it up on imdb to recollect who was in it or what it was about! a quartet of actors i like (jeremy irons, juliette binoche, miranda richardson, rupert graves) wriggle their ways thru a pretentious tale riddled with pseudo-incestuous overtones, set against a numbingly corrupt government. louis malle directed "au revoir les enfants" and "atlantic city", both among my favorite films ever; this yawn fest does not join them.
hot, hot, hot.......2007-01-28
Jeremy Irons has an affair with his son's fiancee Juliette Binoche, and becomes obsessed with her. Great erotic scenes, though not a lot of skin is shown, follow his obsession which leads to their affair being discovered, then tragedy. The ending sees Irons' character as withdrawn and alienated from everyone, wondering: was it worth it?
"What A Pity That We Ever Met".......2007-01-08
This is a great movie about obsession, choices, and the consequences of those choices. It shows perhaps how the unfathomable hand of fate is always working mysteriously in the background to allow people to make the choices they really want.
For me there are some key turning points in the story:
1) Stephen's fateful meeting with Anna who always dresses in black and has been surrounded by sadness for her enire life apparently.
2) Anna's decision not to marry Stephen. Although she has a point that if they did get married perhaps Stephen would then get bored and maybe find someone else to have a clandestine affair with.
3) Anna's mother's warning to Stephen to let Anna go.
4) Anna's decision to get a second apartment and give Stephen the key. That was the point where they both made the decision to do the wrong thing in secret.
Anna has an almost hypnotic effect on all three members of Stephen's family including Stephen himself, his son, and even the grandfather has his eye on her. Maybe a good sequel for this movie would be to have Anna get involved with the grandfather.
There is some strange attraction between Stephen and the dark Anna. I don't know if this is implying that they have had past life experiences, they are twin souls, or something else. Perhaps reading the book would help.
This is an educational movie to watch I feel. It shows how the choices people make can often have unexpected and damaging consequences when they don't place any restrictions on their emotions.
Like many great movies the story gets philosophical at the end especially with what Ingrid says.
After the damage was done it appeared to me that Stephen felt little or no remorse. Rather he seemed to realize that this is what he had chosen and what he really wanted.
Originally he had a wonderful wife, two kids, money, and success. But he also had responsibilities.
At the end he was alone but had little responsibilities.
The dvd contains the 'R' and unrated versions. The unrated version contains some wonderful extra scenes.

Unabashed.......2006-12-21
I think, perhaps, people want to make this movie a more complicated study of "truth" than it is. Fact is, it tells a simple story involving a simple truth: we have some base instincts and motivations which cannot always be denied by societal mores. The film is not pleasing to those who want to see more "character development" for the same reason "Bridges of Madison County" was panned - the point of the movie was not who the characters were and why they became who they became. The point was, two similar spirits met, mingled and, for the moment, loosed themselves from artificial restraint. The relationship between the two main characters in this film had no chance of developing into anything beyond lust and rutting for the satisfaction of that lust. The "Damage" occurs because the lusty rutting offends so many fundamental mores. As the situation between the two "lovers" develops it becomes less and less human until it finally is beyond any control - the lust becomes an addiction as destructive as the worst kind of drug addiction. It doesn't simply "spin" out of control - the destructive energy builds until it cannot be contained. The energy is such that it sucks its other, unaware to that point, victims into its vortex and they all are devoured - the damage is total destruction of life as it had been only a short time before.
The film should prompt thoughts about the "artificial" restraints on "normal" urges and instincts. What's wrong with two people being physically attracted and doing the things these people do? What's wrong with the same kinds of people who rolled together on the kitchen floor in "Bridges of Madison County?" Does "love" require fidelity? Should we not - as humans - be at all concerned about the emotional damage we can cause to ourselves and those we love by not restraining a natural urge?
This movie is a train wreck from the opening scene. It's something you might want to look away from - but just can't. It might disgust you but it also might thrill you. It's the reason people listen to shock radio and watch soap operas. It's the reason people say our society has gone or is going to hell. It's our base nature that we like to think we don't have or, at least, have under control. It's what happens when - if - we ignore our humanity and give head to our basest instincts.
When you watch it, don't just watch it. Let yourself go. And then, at the end, wonder if it was a dream you'd enjoy as a reality or if you are relieved it was just a dream. It's a phenomenal movie.
I've seen this movie, and in my opinion, its bottom line is...........2006-11-24
not about lust, infidelity, midlife crisis, sexual politics, or even dysfunctional families. Instead, it's about two much deeper and more fundamental themes, namely: (1) what happens as four people's lives converge, resulting in a perhaps unconscious but unbridled search for the true meaning of life; (2) and it's about the inborne human tendency to try to answer the age-old question: "Who am I?" (which is most strongly evident at the end of the film). Hence the utterly reckless behavior of the "hero" and "heroine", who, throughout the course of the film, try literally to destroy the existing "social fabric" of their immediate lives in order to get at, once and for all, "The Truth" of who they REALLY are, way down deep. Exhausted by the prevailing cultural matrix of the day and willing to go for broke just to feel something that is more real than what they've experienced thus far, they cast off their inhibitions and personal constraints and blindly and almost symbolically, but decisively, attempt to battle their way through to the truth.
As noted, Irons and Binoche blaze the way on this trail, which involuntarily pulls Irons' wife and son and others into that same kind of struggle, if only to the edge of that struggle.
This film is a magnificent study of human suffering and the quest for truth!

Arnold Schwarzenegger's loyal fans get what they want in this routine but rousing revenge thriller, which pits the aging action star against a Colombian guerrilla terrorist. Schwarzenegger plays a Los Angeles fireman who witnesses the killing of his wife and young son, caused by the terrorist's bombing in a crowded L.A. pavilion. Despite intense scrutiny by FBI and CIA officials, Arnie infiltrates the terrorist's remote jungle compound, enlists the aid of the villain's seemingly trustworthy wife (Francesca Neri), and plots to foil another bombing in Washington, D.C. Director Andrew Davis (The Fugitive) maintains adequate plausibility even when Schwarzenegger's survival grows absurdly unlikely, and lively roles for John Turturro and John Leguizamo add welcomed spice to the movie's impressive display of military ordnance. Despite its formulaic plot and Arnold's advancing seniority, Collateral Damage still manages to pack an entertaining punch. --Jeff Shannon

It's Flex.......2007-02-04
Usually I like Arnold. But unfortunately Sylvester Stallone is far more ahead than Arnold when considering performance.A very good one to watch.
Not one of Arnolds best movies..........2007-02-01
While this movie was entertaining, it definately is one of the weaker ones! My main issue is with the weak and unbelievable story line! While the action scenes are good, the story seems boring and like something we have seen many times before! An interesting twist or unusual plot line would have helped a lot! The overall mood seems mostly depresing to me!
I can only give this movie 3 stars!
Better than expected, but not as good as it needs to be.......2006-04-12
Collateral Damage threatens to become a good film on several occasions but never quite makes it. Partially it's due to the post 9/11 re-editing that played down the innocent civilian casualties in Arnie's quest for vengeance on Colombia terrorists, but more because it seems that the script was probably rewritten a few too many times to accommodate the Austrian Oak. Some swipes at the duplicity and counterproductive nature of American intervention in South America survive as the war hits home, but the film is ultimately content to turn its revolutionaries into cardboard fanatics (not to mention throwing in a ridiculous scene with a snake in case we don't get the point) and go for the big bangs. Still one of its stars better pictures of the last 12 or so years, though.
Not Arnold's best, but definitely one of his best! .......2006-02-06
This is a great movie. It follows a man named Gordy Brewer who wants a team of Columbian terrorists dead after they killed his wife and son. He gets into lots of fights as well as lots of trouble, all the while saving lives and joining teams. Soon, he saves another mom and son, only to find out later the mom is the terrorist leader who put all this together. He stops her & her sidekick from escaping, soon getting into a fight with both of them. It's a long, brutal and difficult battle, but in the end Gordy wins(what would you expect from Ah-Nold?)Anyway, if you like action movies or films about hope and care, then this is the film for you. It's not the very best, but it is good.
Absolutely horrid!.......2005-07-24
I have to admit that I enjoy Arnold's movies and even like the ones that are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO UNREALISTIC like Commando. But, this one was absolutely horrid. The plot is lame, the action is lame, the suspense is lame, everything is lame. It was terrible! Arnold plays a firefighter bent on revenge after his son and wife are killed in an explosion. And of course, he kicks but. Anyway, I own this terrible movie and think about throwing it out of my window a lot. It's horrid!
It's not interesting, boring, repetitive and there is no suspense. Oh my gosh! Is the terrorist attack going to work? Of course not because Arnold the firefighter will save the world! I hated this terrible movie!

Description
Arnold Schwarzenegger provides escapist heroics in two explosive hits. In Collateral Damage, he plays a firefighter tracking the terrorist bomber who killed his family. Andrew Davis (The Fugitive) guides the action that leaps from LA to Colombia to Washington, D.C. In Eraser, agent John Kruger (Schwarzenegger) protects a witness who uncovered a deal to put a super weapon in the wrong hands. If you're looking for a hero, you've found him. If you're looking for the witness, Kruger will make sure you find plenty of trouble.
Customer Reviews:
Solid Arnold Double Feature DVD!.......2007-04-17
The original release date for Collateral Damage was October of 2001, forcing the studio to delay release for a couple of reasons.
For starters, the plot deals with foreign-born terrorism inside the U.S. and contains scenes of a Los Angeles restaurant being bombed, which in late `01 was still a bit raw for the public consciousness. However, adding to the time specific unease is the role Arnold Schwarzenegger portrays here - a firefighter, who early on is seen helping people frantic to escape from a building before the fire reaches them. Other than these two elements though, Collateral Damage has nothing to do with any real world event in any way.
The bad guys here are Columbian freedom fighters who, while targeting some covert U.S. government contacts for a fiery death, also manage to wipe out firefighter Gordon Brewer's wife and young son. Yes it's mostly that formulaic but it's also handled nicely and is a slight departure from what the world has come to think of as an 'Arnold movie'. Why, you ask? Mostly because this is an older and wiser Arnold who along with Director Andrew Davis is intent on getting across the theme of attempted revenge followed by redemption as opposed to the usual straight forward revenge. Although certain areas could have been stronger, overall it works well and entertains on exactly the shallow, over the top, action movie level it shoots for.
One of the high points for me was the great supporting cast, although my favorites were gone in a flash. John Turturro gets about three minutes of quality screen time as a Canadian equipment repairman who just happens to have an item that lead character Gordy Brewer needs to find the man who killed his family. As much as I like both actors, their time together here is less than compelling. John Leguizamo has considerable chemistry with Arnold but also exits quickly. At least he gets a proper send off. Elias Koteas also does a fine job as the main baddie.
Picture is Widescreen and looks super, the sound shines as well. Lots of extras for a 2in1 disc! The best is a short behind the scenes feature, but there are also deleted/alternate scenes and a quick piece about how 9/11 changed the public's perception of popular culture. Also a Director commentary and trailers.
Like I said, not your typical Ah-nold flick and an interesting time piece for some due to it's still slightly tenuous link to a depressing time in American history.
Eraser is very much an Ah-nold flick, replete with damsel in distress, ultra-futuristic high tech weaponry, dry one liners shouted over the sound of vehicles exploding and hair that just never, EVER moves. Also, none of that 'aging Firefighter' stuff here. As is the case in many of his films, Mr. Schwarzenegger takes on the role of a renegade law enforcement type. Specifically a U.S. Marshall who works in the Witness Security or... wait for it... WitSec Division. Oh yeah. You can see where this puppy is headed ten miles away and that's part of the magic.
Normally a flick like this would devolve predictably into a proper B-movie cliche fest, but due to a surprisingly strong (albeit silly) story and some anchoring performances by veterans, Eraser actually elevates at most of the right times to come through with only slightly hokey flying colors. The honorable James Coburn floats around the edges, popping in now and again to add gravitas. Robert Pastorelli hams it up, mostly near the end to add competent comedic relief. James Cromwell gets a small part but really goes out with a bang. Last but not least, James Caan stalks and growls his way to a praise worthy performance. He's the top dog here, even outshining Arnold in many places. I think Vanessa Williams might be in this too. JUST kidding. She does an OK job, certainly no better/worse than Halle Berry would have done. On the plus side, she's drop dead gorgeous and does manage hold her own in many scenes. That's it though.
Widescreen picture that looks very nice and great sound as well. No real bonus features though.
Can't find a thing to knock about this double feature DVD. 3 1/2 hours of solid Action entertainment. If you see this on sale and you're an Arnold fan, it's absolutely worth picking up.

They claim it's real, but...........2007-05-16
In 1971, there was a little film called "The Slaughter." From all accounts, the film was horrendous. So it was re-edited, and a special scene was added at the end. Then, with the tagline "A film that could only be made in South America, where life is cheap," the film was re-released in 1976 as Snuff. The special scene supposedly depicted an actual murder, committed especially for the film. An intensive publicity campaign, including fake protesters who were hired to add to the film's notoriety, led to success.
Nearly thirty years later, along comes "The Great American Snuff Film." As the box and the film tell us again and again, this is the true story of William Allen Grone, a nasty serial killer who was executed in 2003. But wait, it gets worse. Grone was driven by his desire to make, in his own words, "the great American snuff film," and he actually produced 2 1/2 minutes of it--along with a number of diary entries that detailed his horrific crimes. But wait again! It gets even worse. This DVD contains "actual" footage from the murder. Just jump to the end of the film, and there it is. (It's right after the statement in the film that it's illegal in the United States to own a snuff film.)
Okay, reality check. Search for "William Allen Grone" online, and you'll find nothing but references to this film. The film claims that some names were changed to protect certain people, so maybe, just maybe, the filmmakers decided that the real killer's name shouldn't be used lest the film somehow sully his reputation. But then you look at the people who were executed in 2003 in the United States, and you find nobody who remotely fits the bill. Then there's the question of just how likely it is that a film with the actual footage of a murder would make it into reputable stores and Amazon.com.
So the whole thing's a stunt to entice viewers. There's nothing new there. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre claimed to be real. So did The Blair Witch Project. And, as noted, "Snuff" did, too. None of them, however, claimed to have the actual footage.
Beyond the marketing campaign, there is the issue of the film itself. This is a gritty, low-budget film that is done fairly well. The killers (Grone and his accomplice) abduct two girls whom Grone plans to murder as part of his snuff film. For a period of days, they torture the girls in a variety of ways, and most of this part of the film is quite convincing. All four actors do a very good job: Mike Marsh as the cold, calculating Grone; Ryan Hutman as the impulsive and dim-witted Roy; and Melinda Lorenz and Holi Tavernier as the victims. We also see periodic flashbacks to Grone's recent past, including his first murder.
Unlike, say, The Silence of the Lambs, which was based, in part, on a real case but which featured the completely unrealistic Hannibal Lector, "The Great American Snuff Film" rings true. Though there was no real Grone, the character we see could indeed be any number of predators out there. The gritty filmmaking, no doubt in large part because of budget constraints, works well at conveying a sense of dread and hopelessness that pervades the film. Like Henry - Portrait of a Serial Killer, "The Great American Snuff Film" succeeds to whatever extent it does in large part because of the techniques.

Customer Reviews:
A wonderful movie on a facinating topic.......2007-01-17
Dawn Anna is my aunt and she's the greatest aunt ever. We're always in touch and she makes me laugh all the time. She's there for me when I need her, and when Columbine happened we were there for her, Bruce(Bink) as well as my cousins. When I saw this movie on Lifetime I used a whole box of tissues. It's one thing to know about the subject..but it's another when it was your family who lost someone so special and you see it on TV. I don't think that airing this movie was a bad thing for us and the family. If anything I think it has helped everyone find some closure in even the smallest way. And I also think that people should know about the signs of violence. It's an awesome movie. I thank Debra Winger and the rest of the cast every day. I think they did a fabulous job at making everything in this movie like being in their home in reality. One thing I've learned from this movie(as well as being around her, Bink and my cousins) is that there's never a time when somebody should hate another person. You never know when they might be gone. I miss you soo much Lulu, my heart is still broken.
A Lifetime Orginal Movie: Dawn Anna.......2006-11-10
Seeing that I bought this as a gag gift, I have not watched it. I also have not given this gift and dont plan on ever watching it.
The Brightest Among Lifetime's Rare Movie Gems. .......2006-06-30
As well as Human Trafficking, Dawn Anna is a very well-done Lifetime movie, and its emotional gamut is both wide and varied. From the beginning of this story, I was impressed to watch a strong, single mother of four manage to raise truly good and cooperative children while getting by with very little money as a school teacher. Loved by both her own kids and students alike, this really is a case of bad things happening to good people.
The brain tumor seems so incredibly unfair, but I think that both the network of support and her own resiliency to recover paved the way for her to cope with the upcoming tragedy of losing her youngest daughter Lauren, a sweet, bright, and talented girl during the massacre of Columbine High back in 1999.
Dawn Anna and her kids are likable and admirable, proving that you don't have to be financially endowed to be rich. Bravo, Lifetime, and it would be fantastic if you would give us more movies of this quality!
A gripping, documentary about a mom and her daughter.......2006-06-29
Since the tragedy which happened on April 20, 1999, this film centers on Dawn Anna's personal struggle with brain cancer and then, the tragic death of her daughter from the Columbine High School massacre. Taking place in Littleton, Colorado, the film revolves around a tender relationship between mother and daughter. Then fate took over and changed everything. Fortunately the intense shootout was omitted due its incredible violence. Beautifully acted by Debra Winger who mirrored Dawn Anna's incredible courage and then, facing the pain in the loss of her beloved daughter. Incredible acting resembling real-life events at and around Columbine is noted. Due to the disturbing contents of the film, it is not recommended for children under the age of 17. Other than that, It is a film well worth seeing; though you may need a box of kleenex handy.
This Woman Is Amazing.......2005-11-12
Dawn Anna was my 7th Grade teacher and I can tell you first hand that she is an amazing woman. I was a handful when I was in middle school and this woman never gave up on me. I pray for her everyday and someday I hope that I can get back in touch with her to tell her the impact that she made on my life.

Boo men is my favorite, vampire segment a close second and skeleton keys may actually scare even the most couragous horror film viewers. Using familar themes along with modern elements (awesome soundtrack, young teenagers (presumably the ones that end "dead"), the director has created an overall awesome anthology that has stories that rival Creepshow. Definately reccomend this film for any horror movies fans that love being entertained and can look past the shot on video appearance.

The catch is to keep the "high" Brian has to feed Aylmer his favorite food . . . human brains! Directed by Frank Henenlotter (Basket Case, Frankenhooker) this amazing cult film favorite will have you screaming with laughter as you reach for your barf bag! Also contains the gore sequences deleted from the U.S. theatrical release, including the infamous "brain pulling" sequence!

I ordered this a month ago. It never reached its destination anywhere near its delivery estamation. I ended up canceling the item because I simply got sick of waiting on it.
HENENLOTTER'S BEST FILM TO DATE!.......2007-04-09
This is a very good movie on many levels! The story is original and is really interesting. I am a fan of this quirky director and this is his best work to date. If you can find this along with "Frankenhooker" and the "Basket Case" trilogy your in for some strange, but excellent cinema!
Great film........2007-01-26
This one is about a worm like parasite named Aylmer (pronounced Elmer) that injects people with a kind of drug "juice," but in order to deliver the "juice" the subjects have to help Aylmer obtain human brains. After the character Brian realizes that Aylmer is eating human brains while he(Brian) is high, he tries to stop taking the "juice." However, this is a lot harder than he thinks as his body begins to unergo withdrawal. Brian is left with no other choice but to help Aylmer get what he wants in exchange for the "juice." If you can find this movie I highly recommend it. It has gone out of print, but if you do a search some places still carry it for a reasonble price.
Sick, Twisted Little Film From 'Basket Case' Director...4.5 stars.......2005-11-13
Well, I have to admit that after I saw the sick BASKET CASE, I wondered what other movies Frank Henenlotter had made besides the BASKET CASE series. I found this sick, twisted film a few years ago and ordered the special edition DVD and finally got it days later. Nervous, I wondered how this film would stand up against BASKET CASE and how good it would be...and to my surprise, I was not at all disappointed.
BRAIN DAMAGE is a freakish tale of a young man named Brian (Rick Herbst), who happens to be the next to fall victim to a worm-like parasite named Alymer (voiced in Bing Crosby-type fashion by the hilariously over-the-top John Zacherle). We learn in the first frame of the film about Alymer (he prefers 'Elmer') and his past family, and how they have tried to wean him on sheep's brains. Well, Alymer is just plain sick of that, and he wants real human brains, so he gets in touch with Brian, showing up at his place. He explains his situation to Brian, and tells him if he gets him brains, he will inject him with a fluid drug that gives him the ultimate pleasurable feeling. Brian reluctantly agrees, and so now he and Alymer become "attached" to some degree. They go on a killing spree, knocking off people by cornering them in less-crowded places. The best scene involves a little sexual "job" that you will laugh your head off to, but it's also kind of sick in a twisted way. The trouble with Alymer and Brian's relationship is that it's interfering with Brian's relationship with his girlfriend Barbara (Jennifer Lowry, cute and competent in her role). This creates real tension between Brian and Alymer, leading the ultimate showdown for control of Brian's mind. The ending wasn't as strong as it could have been, it was more weird and strange than satisfying, but the movie itself is a hoot and there are some decent chills throughout the movie. This is a comedy horror film, and you too will feel the same about it.
Without comparison to Henenlotter's twisted debut feature, BRAIN DAMAGE stands on its own as a own as a bizarre cult flick. While certainly not as successful as BASKET CASE, it's as much in touch with the strangely creepy and bizarre as the aforementioned film. Ever wonder what would happen if you had to help a parasite get brains and would fall victim to its addictive psycho-drug? Look no further!
