Description

An expedition to the moon discovers a subterranean cavern of ferocious, love-starved cat-women who have not seen men in centuries. This is probably why they are ferocious. The air supply is escaping from the caves and the moon maidens must capture the crew and escape to Earth. An Atomic Age classic with legendary sultry "noir" star Marie Windsor and the purr-fectly sexy "cat-women."

1 out of 5 stars This isn't even fun to watch, not "Queen of Outer Space" worthy!.......2007-06-20

I purchased this movie thinking that it would be in the same league as "Queen of Outer Space" with Zsa Zsa Gabor. "Queen" was a hilarious, campy, over-the-top tongue-in-cheek female-dominated planet movie. It's hilarious from beginning to end and totally entertaining in a ridiculous way. It's funny as heck.
"Cat women of the Moon" just plain sucked! It takes itself so seriously, the plot is horrific, it's SUPER short, black and white (the cover leads one to believe it is colorized?), the characters are bland and just plain dumb! My wife and sat in disbelief at how BAD this flick was when it was over....There are some of those movies that are "so bad they're good." This is NOT one of those! Movies like "Dracula vs. Frankenstein," "Laserblast," "Plan Nine from Outer Space," "Frogs," "Empire of the Ants," etc. are all so corney that they are just a blast to watch. "Cat Women" just plain is cruddy. Don't waste the nine bucks!!

4 out of 5 stars Cat-women is still a dreamy movie.......2006-06-29

The lead males are impossibly homely, more parts of the spaceship move about when those actors bump into them than when the spaceship is actually in space, and the strings that move the spider in the cave on the moon are shamelessly exposed-and yet there is still something compelling about Cat-Women Of the Moon. Maybe it was the dreamy musical score by Leonard Bernstein, it could have also been the evocative minimalist sets of the cat palace on the moon, or it may have been the mysterious, underplayed beauty of the cat-women themselves with their cat-dance, but in the end this movie may win you over. Despite the pretty crappy acting from most of the lead actors, the story of the movie is interesting, because a very sophisticated question is implied of just how far a species can and should go to preserve itself. If it were the human race that was in its 11th hour and 59th minute of existence, how justified would we be in taking any means necessary for our own species' survival? A more pedestrian perspective of course would be to slant the movie as another product of the cold war with the omnipresent fears of communist domination. Personally, it's more fun to imagine what could have been, than fear what might be. Other items: the transfer is decent to outstanding, especially the cat-palace scenes. The sound quality is excellent. The paucity of extras, however, should be what most viewers who've trucked with Image Entertainment in the past would now come to expect. Get this DVD when it's on sale-don't waste the 19.99 on it.

3 out of 5 stars The Moon As One Big Litterbox... .......2005-12-19

Marie Windsor (Swamp Women) is part of a lunar exploration team that discovers giant spiders and cat-women on the dark side of the moon. Said cat-women (played by the Hollywood Cover Girls) are the final remnants of a once flourishing society. Now they seek to steal the team's rocket and conquer the earth! CWOTM isn't a total loss, but it can be rough on normal-brained viewers! You must keep in mind that it was made in the 50s, at a cost of about 42¢. This will help get you through the majority of the dullness and jaw-shattering dialogue. The middle-aged earth males are about as heroic and verile as Homer Simpson, yet neither Ms. Windsor nor the Cat-women can resist them! It must be the moon's thin atmosphere. The black leotard-wearing cat-babes look more like beat club waitresses than alien marauders! Still, this movie has it's own imbecilic charm. Watch it w/ MESA OF LOST WOMEN, PREHISTORIC WOMEN, and WILD WOMEN OF WONGO for a complete estrogen explosion...

3 out of 5 stars Where do you start here?.......2004-11-24

OK; let's try. Take cheesy special effects, a totally illogical plot, bad scenery, Victor Jory and Sonny Tufts, for God's sake, then toss in Marie Windsor in all her bad girl/B movie glory, and finally all these women in leotards and black stockings that do strange dances. How could you not want to own it??

1 out of 5 stars Should have included a Field Sequential 3-D version!.......2004-07-01

Not that many people are aware of the Field Sequential 3-D.
This is a 3-D TV system that uses special shutter glasses that can be purchased here through Amazon in a set that includes 3 DVD's using this process. This system Is the only way to view a 3-D film effectively on TV to date. The result is about 90% close to the effect you will see in a theatre showing.. like IMAX and Disney and Universal.
These glasses are made of sturdy plastic and clear not these cardboard red and blue pieces of garbage, so you can view the film without constricted to seeing red and blue colors and with this system you will see more actual 3-D depth with the films true colors.. It's really amazing!
For some add reason the big studios haven't adapted to include a separate version of a 3-D title in this great format.
Films like:
"House of Wax","Kiss Me Kate","Friday the 13th Part 3", "Robot Monster, "Cat Woman on the Moon", "Creature from the Black Lagoon" and "Jaws 3" are all now in 2-D DVD, but were originally shown in 3-D and could have been included using the Field Seqential 3-D system on the same disc with the 2-D version.
In Japan in the late 80's there were a few 3-D titles released using Field Sequential 3-D and can be found on e-bay converted to DVD and VHS.
Why aren't the studios producing these now!
I boycott any film DVD release that was originally intended to be seen in 3-D that's only presented in a 2-D version or anaglyph (Red and Blue Glasses).

The studios should really be awaken to this great 3-D system.

Description

These aliens are armed and gunning for puny humans in four thrill-packed sci-fi hits. First, a power-mad BRAIN FROM PLANET AROUS invades the mind of helpless John Agar, turning him into a black-eyed, cackling fiend capable of blasting planes from the sky! Then hapless astronauts on a mission discover sexy, ruthless CAT-WOMEN OF THE MOON who don't take kindly to trespassers on their lunar paradise. Then stick around a little longer for a remake of the same story, MISSILE TO THE MOON, which tosses in giant spiders and rock creatures for maximum monster mayhem. Finally, return to home planet for THE DAY IT CAME TO EARTH, when a flaming meteor crash-lands in a small swamp town and unleashes a shambling zombie terror. You'll never look at the stars the same way again after this queasy quartet of extra-terrestrial epics!

4 out of 5 stars Alien movies.......2007-01-10

Purchased for nostalgia sake. Parents used to drop me off w/ a girlfriend at the movie theater to see double features. We were only six. Could you imagine doing that today? I remember Moon women and other really bad missle to moon type movies. They're good for a Friday night giggle. These 4 CDs are well packaged and enjoyable to look at as well as play.

4 out of 5 stars A rocket blast from the golden past........2006-06-29

Forgive the rap. These movies, although not the eye-popping ilk of Earth Vs. The Flying Saucers, or War of the Worlds, or even Invaders From Mars, are still worthy additions to anyone's canon of what goes for classic science-fiction. Sure, the sets move when the actors bump them in Catwomen, and the so-called Brain is barely believable in Planet Arous, and the sets still move in Missile To The Moon, and the acting of The Day It Came To Earth has to be seen to be believed, but what is required here (as even in Star Wars) is a suspension of disbelief. It seems to me that as movies get more sophisticated with the special effects, there isn't as much of a challenge being demanded of with our imaginations. It's as if the work is being done for us. See these movies not for their flaws, but for the light and shadow of mystery that is still in each one---even if you have to look a little harder than Close Encounters of the Third Kind to find it . . .
