I've been doing Denise Austin's exercise tapes for years and I think this is one of her best. It's challenging, effective, and the setting is gorgeous! Looking at the beautiful scenery makes the work-out even more wonderful! Way to go, Denise!

Pretty Good.......2007-06-21

The description of the DVD lead me to think there were more work out segments than there really are. For your core there are three segments, each harder than the next. The beginning level is nice because Denise really explains how to do the moves correctly which is helpful when the moves get harder. The thighs and buns segments are great, I felt it the next day. The first time I worked out to the DVD I thought some of her moves weren't that challenging but then my husband pointed out I was doing them incorrectly. When I did them the right way they were much harder. I really like that you can choose to listen to her explanation or just the music. After listening to her once or twice you'll probably get tired of her voice. She is encouraging though. All in all I like this DVD because it's not too easy that I get bored and it's not too hard that I get discouraged. I really like the 10 minute segments I can choose from and make my own workout program.

Good DVD.......2007-05-17

Have to say - this is a good DVD. It is my second DVD that I have purchased on Pilates and this is by far a better work out thean the other one I have. The exercises are clear and quick moving. You can really feel the 'burn'! There is a good selection of different exercises and I have to say that, most importantly of all, I feel it is working. Denise Austin herself can be a touch painful to listen to over and over again but there are options where you can mute her! So, presumably she realises that she sounds painful herself! Overall, I would really recommend this DVD to anyone wishing to pursue Pilates at home on their own schedule. I wouldn't say that this is a DVD for absolute beginners since some of the exercises are quite tough and since it is fast moving it may be hard to really get the benefit if you are the whole time trying to work out which leg goes where.

Denise Autin is my favorite exercise instuctor and her videos are easy to follow and very helpful. "Hit The Spot" covered everything that most of us women have problems with. I recommend this highly.

A creative twist on the Pilates method if you can tolerate the instructor.......2007-04-29

These are seven 10-minute workouts that target "trouble areas"- waist, abs, thighs, hips, etc. You can do them all or you can select as many as you'd like. Each workout includes many movements taken directly from the traditional Pilates exercises, as well as some yoga movements and others that are a combination of both, or where you target different muscles at the same time. While the workouts are short and varied, and provide a welcome twist to the routine that can set in on regular Pilates mat exercisers, I got annoyed by Denise's overly protective, motherly style which distracted me from fully focusing on each exercise.

The workout includes 3 different sets which target the abdominal area, waist and laterals. Surprisingly no hundreds. (Hello, isn't that the most important Pilates exercise?). She includes the 'stomach series', boat pose, lots of T stands and variations of it, one legged downward dog pushing to one legged plank, side stretches, lots of side twists as well.

There are then 3 segments of 10 minutes each, targeting the hips, buns and thighs respectively. She covers practically every exercise included in the side leg mat series (if you are familiar with Pilates), T stands again, lots of inner and outer thigh work, as well as a standing Pilates series and lunges. A nice burner overall.

My complaints about this video:

1. While Denise sure knows her stuff and displays good form, she did make me wonder, is this a Pilates video or did I just pay to hear Denise's nonstop blabbing while she does Pilates at breakneck speed? I don't need to be reminded that "this exercise works the waist". I think I can get an idea of which area these exercises target once I do them, or at least she doesn't need to mention it 10 times. Or she often tells you how this exercise is her favorite (they all are!), or "how challenging this exercise is!". Is she trying to motivate you? I don't know. It takes away your attention from the exercise.

2. The workout is too fast with very few repetitions of each exercise. Yes, intermediate Pilates is faster, however, she could have added few exercises with more precision. She repeats some exercises in a couple of segments, which she could have avoided by adding more repetitions to each exercise.

To summarize:
If you are a beginner in Pilates:
There are other quality videos you could try before venturing to this one. I would recommend getting a Stott Pilates video before progressing to this one, which offer superb instruction. Denise makes occasional remarks about form but she moves too quickly from one exercise to the next so you may be better off with a Stott Pilates beginner's video or one of the Gaiam beginner's ones, that way you can learn proper form and breathing and then progress to this one.

If you have some Pilates experience:
Again, this will be a fun twist to your mat routine. You could add one lb ankle weights to the hip and thigh sections to add challenge. I do need to mention that there is music only option. You can listen to Denise the first time to get familiar with the routine and then try it with music only.
There are other great DVDs that present short sequences (10 to 15 min each) and with much more pleasant instructors. Check out 10 minute solution Rapid Results Pilates with Lara Hudson or The Method Target Specifics Plus. Both are greatly recommended. Karen Voight "Total Body Pilates" is an excellent routine as well.

The greatist part of this movie is the whos on First. Don't get me wrong, the whole movie was great but as a avid baseball fan I loved the whos on first seen. I think it's the greatist comedy duet done in history. Plus I grew up watching Abbott & Costello movies on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. I will always love there movies but this one the best.

I couldn't resist purchasing an Abbott and Costello DVD. Having grown up with this super-famous wacky duo, I couldn't wait to watch all their movies, the same movies that had made me giggle and guffaw as a mere youngster. I was not disappointed. It was a trip down memory lane that returned me to more innocent times, ice-cream sodas, nickle phone calls, The Andrew Sisters, and comic routines that kept a smile on my face for days. On the technical side, the restoration of these films is flawless. One might think that they were put in the can just yesterday. This DVD offers entertainment that is pure and simple, and a fun-filled glimpse of the past. Young people may find the DVD too silly, but you really had to be there to get the humor.

BEST ONE YET.......2007-07-06

Easy to follow and really gets "my sweat on". Easy to follow and has a lot of the same moves you use in Shrink Your Female Fat Zones DVD. Denise has it broke down into Warm up, Core & Arms, Core & Legs, Core & Buns, and an 18 minute Core Complete. The other Core sessions are 15 minutes each. I enjoy doing a combination of 2 of the core sessions.

Great Core workout!.......2007-06-27

Ok guys, for those of you who don't know Denise Austin I'll give you a heads up. She is incredibly perky and can get annoying, but she really knows what she's doing!
I pretty well have every Denise Austin video out there and snatched this one up as soon as it came out. I was not disappointed, it's a great overall workout. My only complaint (and it's a small one!) is that I like having toned arms and this video doesn't focus on the arms as much as I would like. Overall, it's a fabulous core workout and it's a bit more challenging than the "Shrink your Female Fat Zones" video it's often compared to.

This was my first Denise Austin workout video and I was annoyed with her within the first 10- seconds of the workout. I couldn't stand her voice or facial expressions, she was like a robot. Also, I did all the sections of the dvd and I found it to be ineffective as far as toning goes. I never really felt anything. I don't think I'll be using this tape again or buying another Denise Austin tape. It might be good for beginners, though. I would only recommend this to those who already own other Denise Austin tapes and aren't turned off by her excesssive encouragement or voice.

Challenging core workout.......2007-06-12

I love this DVD, it is divided into four parts that you can customize acconding to your schedule and fitness level. I really like this DVD becuse it works every part of your body and becuse you are using the satability ball you strenght even more your core. Also, when I'm doing reps for the abs it makes me stop because they are really challlenging, it will take me a while to follow the reps, but I will stick to it, until I get better. I'm give Denise a 5 starts I love it!!!!!!!

Good workout without dripping sweat.......2007-05-31

This video is good addition to my collection. Denise is a little more subdued in this video (not crazy and wild-eyed like she is in the boot camp video). As always, she delivers an inense workout that not only works your core, but also other parts of your body. Even though you are working hard you are not out of breath and drenched.

It took our daughter a little while to really enjoy this video but now she really likes it and it keeps her entertained. This DVD was originally made for VHS format so it is a little bit older but it has a good selection of songs. Our daughter is 2 and she likes it a lot.

A Journey through Wiggle-World.......2006-12-27

The Big Red Car loses its mojo and strands the Wiggles in the middle of town. Jeff, showing remarkable leadership in a time of crisis considering he normally just seems to be the poster-boy for narcolepsy, hops out of the car to go visit friends. Musical numbers ensue, all of which are pretty good stuff and far superior to anything Barney ever put together. My only qualm with this video would be that Greg goes from being fairly competent in past DVDs to totally idiotic in this DVD. He doesn't know that mechanics fix cars and prior to figuring it out puts a dog and a pirate in charge of his car repair. I'm no technician, but that couldn't be a good idea.

The world of Jim Henson's Fraggle Rock is far from the sunny urban buzz of Sesame Street, where many of Henson's most beloved Muppet characters dwell, or the frantic, backstage shenanigans of The Muppet Show, the classic variety program starring Kermit, Miss Piggy, and other icons of children's television. In Fraggle Rock, humans and Muppets live in different worlds. So different, in fact, that the Fraggles--small but diverse creatures who live in a cavernous land behind a wall in the shop of a tinkerer named Doc (Gerry Parkes)--regard the realm of flesh-and-blood people as "outer space."

Fraggles and people live apart, but the order of things is shaken up when the series' central character, Gobo, can't talk his determined uncle, Traveling Matt, from being the first of his kind to explore the great unknown. Matt leaves Fraggle Rock with a promise to get word to Gobo about how things are going. Thereafter, Gobo has to find a way, from time to time, to fetch postcards from Doc's trash can (Doc can't figure out why missives from someone named Uncle Matt keep turning up in his mailbox) by dashing into the tinkerer's warm workshop, avoiding not only Doc's eyes but the suspicions of his wonderful dog, Sprocket. (Doc mutters occasionally about boarding up a hole in the wall that serves as Gobo's door. When he finally does so, mid-season, it poses a crisis for Gobo, who is caught on the wrong side.) While Traveling Matt sees what people are like, Gobo and his fellow Fraggles--Red, Wembley, Boober, Mokey, and others--have adventures (and some misadventures) of their own, trying to get along, learning to say what they mean and how to avoid making the same mistake twice. Over time, they begin to ponder the big questions of their world and lives, questions that have an ethical subtext that can easily be appreciated by young viewers. Such as: Is it okay to eat elaborate structures built by Doozers, small construction builders whose materials apparently are so tasty? Should one ever trick a friend so seriously the latter actually grieves? Helping the Fraggles with these tough issues is all-knowing Marjory the Trash Heap, guru of garbage and life lessons. Not helpful by any stretch are the problematic Gorgs, giants who want to enslave Fraggles and who consider themselves royalty of the universe (such as it is behind Doc's wall). Each busy episode is designed to impart wisdom to kids, but they are also as funny as one might expect from the wisecracking Muppet Factory. WOW!!! Genius, completely fun, creative, and timeless..........2007-07-06

Loveable characters too (like a Jim Henson version of those 1970s Saturday morning Sid & Marty Krofft shows), and great, ultracatchy powerpoppish tunes...what's NOT to love??? This show can really appeal to all ages because each episode is about universal things, not really school-related stuff...not that that's a bad thing. The show looks like it could have been made 20 years ago OR today...it's not dated at all. Here's the surprise: I wasn't sure I had seen it when it was on cable TV back in the early-to-mid 1980s, and I was older than its original target demographic...I was 15 in 1983, so I basically missed it...yet I recall certain bits and characters...

This show is completely fresh and colourful, with fun, touching stories, AMAZING sets, anarch-ish energy, and the characters are sorta punkish and hippyish. If you have a child, or have never lost (or wish to regain) your own inner child (like myself), you simply NEED this DVD set!!!

I loved how "Fraggle Rock" is so intricate, but simple and understandable at the same time, and oh so interesting...I wish I was a Fraggle and lived in their world, really!!! I love to eat radishes, swim and play music all day!! It's neat the way the Fraggles (the main 5 are really swell characters...Gobo, Boober, Wembley, Mokey and Red, as well as Gobo's Uncle Traveling Matt and the awesome Pipe Bangers), the huge funny dopey Gords, the adorable Doozers (sort of a 1980s Bob The Builders), and the hilarious antics of the Irish inventor Doc and his sidekick dog Sprocket (another fun Muppet)...oh and can't forget the hilarious Trash Heap and her 2 ratty sidekicks, haha, with her unique brand of "wisdom" and advice. I love how it's all about friendship, morality, that it shows how these "cultures" are interdependent, and worldly but innocent and oh so ORIGINAL!!!

This show is not only nutritious, but it really can lift your spirits if you're in a bad/sad mood.

I REALLY need all 5 seasons, a CD/CDs of all the Fraggle tunes...that opening theme is unbelievably great, and a shirt with the Fraggles on it...hard to pick a fave character, but I really like the hat-wearing, sensitive, eccentric hippy Boober...his voice sounds like Kermit/JIm Henson...and Mokey is really sweet too, and kinda serious.

This show simply RULES...I want to introduce the Fraggles to my young nephews and niece, they will be hooked...NOW I know why this show has a fervent cult and appeal to punkrock kids of all ages...why wouldn't it???

80's all over again!.......2007-06-28

I had been waiting for Fraggle Rock to be released to DVD, I thought my children would enjoy it as much as my brother and I did. It's a little to early for my 3 1/2 year old to appreciate it but I'm sure in another year or two he will watch it over and over. The packaging is what concerns me, the booklike disk holding system I fear will not hold up to frequent use and abuse from kids. I'd hate to lose one of the disks.

I just LOVE the Fraggles and couldn't believe they put the first season on DVD. When it came out I rushed to buy it and have watched it over and over again whenever I need a Fraggle Fix.

I watched the original Fraggle Rock shows on television with my son. Unfortunately, they came too late for my daughter. But, now that she has a two year old, she will get to watch them with her daughter. You might think that two is a little young for these shows but she is captivated by them. I think she will enjoy them for years to come.

Great DVD's, but missing notebook.......2007-06-06

The replica notebook wasn't included in my set, but you could see the sleeve where it was to go. I called the 800# on the box, and was given a different 800#. When you call them, they'll take your name and address and mail you the notebook when more arrive. I guess they've been out of stock for a while, so they're just shipping the DVD's minus the book. So you can get yours by calling. But the DVD's themselves are great and bring back so many memories. I liked TV more in those days when it wasn't political or obscene. Just carefree and something the whole family can watch. My little ones enjoy them as much as my husband and I do.

Finally Stopped to watch.......2007-06-25

Our son has never watched a single video for more than, say, 5 seconds until this went into the dvd player. wow. I'm a wiggles convert. He really enjoys watching it for 15 minutes at a time, and probably as he gets older (He's 23 months), he'll probably enjoy it more. The energy is high, everyone is having such a good time, and I even can watch it and enjoy the performances! That's a tall order, and this dvd delivers.

This video mostly shows scenes from various Wiggles concerts so it is like having a concert in your living room. My 2 year old loves The Wiggles more than anything and has for more than a year now. This video holds her attention and she likes watching it.

Our daughter loved Wiggledancing from the 1st time we let her watch it. She is 2 years old and we gave it to her for her birthday. It really keeps her entertained. Every day she is saying "watch wiggles show". On a lot of the songs, she will get up and dance with the Wiggles too.

THE BEST Wiggles Video.......2007-03-25

My daughter watched this video when she was 19 months old and 2 months later she knows all the dances. I love that it's a concert because it's very interactive viewing. She gets up and dances, sings along, and has a ball. It's such good exercise, she takes water breaks all the way thorugh the video. The Wiggles are such great musicians and it's by far the least annoying kids show we've found. I do like the concert videos better than the actual show which is a little more corny. Still, our daughter loves it all. Buy this video!!!!! It's the best of them all.

My son is 13 monthes old and he's been watching this video since he turned one. Not so interesting.......2006-07-31

I bought this for my 3 years old and i thought it will be very interesting and attractive but i discovered that it is not. The farm activities are not interesting and they don't interact alot with animals or even nature so close so my child didn't find something attractive in this video, even the songs are not like other barney songs. I already bought him best manners DVD and that one much more attractive and interesting. However on this DVD you will find some games that may attract your child even more the video like the animals sounds.

My son is 17 months and now has 5 barney vids and maybe A.D.D. Let me tell you he does not like any of them as much as this one. He is in a trance when this one is on, he loves it so much. This vid has some better production and songs than the others I have seen. I was not going to allow the big purple guy in the house but the vids seem harmless enough (my mother actually gave this as a gift). He will sit thru the ENTIRE video without budging. He giggles when I put it in and my son hates TV!!!!

Overall a 5 star rating for a kid that had trouble doing something for more than 5 minutes.

This really is a captivating DVD. My daughter who is almost 3 and is more of a Dora fan, still fell for this DVD when I rented it from the library. I too had a problem about returning this to the library. Since she already has about 5 Barney DVD's and not 1 Dora, I am planning to buy her a Dora. But would advise that this is a great buy for any avid Barney watcher.

I had never actually watched Barney before I bought my 8-month-old son this VHS. He loves watching Barney. He watches this video straight through. Moreover, he is mesmerized by this video while sitting in front of the TV. Colorful TV commercials or Cartoons don't work as much as Barney to help us at the time of baby meals. It is a winner among all other baby materials. I wonder what it is about Barney that is so appealing. Is it normal for a baby to watch it three times a day? I am afraid to have VHS torn out soon.
I also like this video because the characters are warm and friendly while having lots of fun and singing and dancing. Due to my son's interest to this video, I have already ordered 4 more different Barney VHS/DVD.

A woman I would think would not be interested in totally wasting her kid's time recommended this line of DVDs to me, so I got one - fortunately only one. It was TERRIBLE! I don't understand what is going on with all the hype and other fantastic reviews. The DVDs are mindless, way over-acted, Barney-esque entertainment with very little education. I really like Little Einsteins, Kipper and Dora - but if you are more of a Barney fan, maybe you'd prefer the Wiggles. Fortunately, my 2 year old did not get hooked before I discarded the DVD. Yes, discarded - I would not pass this on to anyone else!

The Wiggles At Their Best!.......2007-03-30

I can't say enough good thing about this DVD! It is loaded with new music,all of it catchy and beautifully done.The video tells the story of the Wiggles following their individual dreams on their way to the end of the rainbow,with sometimes hilarious results!Songs are interjected throughout,most notable to me are Bump-a Deedle and Shakin' Like A Leafy Tree.Engaging dance moves for children and grown-ups alike, and smooth as silk vocals from Greg Page.The New England Patriots even join Anthony in his dream of playing American football. There are lots of entertaining bloopers in the special features to keep you laughing till the end.My 4 and 7 year old's love this dvd,and so does their Mom!!Two thumbs way up! We'll really miss you Greg!

A strong finale for Greg Wiggle.......2007-03-28

I chose five stars for one reason: because this DVD mesmerizes my 18-month-old daughter. The Wiggles have been favorites of hers for a few months now, but her attention sometimes wanders after several songs. With "Racing to the Rainbow," she can sit through the better part of what is in the end quite a long presentation without losing interest. From an adult point of view, I found the narrative thread in this one a little more engaging and coherent than in some of the other discs that try to tell a story (e.g., "Toot Toot").

The costumes are also notable in this one -- especially the velvet suits, which bring to mind the 1960s and another (much more famous) quarter.

Good - some nice features........2007-03-25

This new DVD has some nice features. For example there aren't any pesky advertisements at the beginning. Additionally, the DVD has an auto play feature so I can just put it in and be done. That is very handy when you are in the middle of preparing dinner. The reason I rated 4 stars instead of 5 is that my daughter isn't wild about this one the way she is about Toot! Toot! Since she is so young (15 months), this is probably because Toot!Toot! is mostly music with very very short skits in between and the skits are always at the Big Red Car. I'm sure that the repetition paired with all the songs is what draws her in. The Racing to the Rainbow DVD is the same style - alternating between skits and songs, but the skits contain different locations and topics each time. For an older child, I'm sure the new and exciting topics will be perfect. Another plus with this DVD is that it is 90 minutes, where Toot!Toot! is only 45. All in all, I would recommend it. But I would also recommend Toot!Toot!

A winner, with new songs to boot!.......2007-03-24

All new songs with a few children's classics - what's not to like? Our daughter is 22 months old and absolutely loves the Wiggles and their music. Right now her favourite songs from this dvd are "Bump-A-Deedle" and "Blow Up Your Balloon (Huff and Huff and Puff)", from which she also does the dance moves.

The best part of the special features are the Wiggly Bloopers. Great outtakes!

As it was mentioned in a previous review, this was Greg's last recorded performance as a Wiggle. He's especially energetic in "Shakin' Like a Leafy Tree" & "Everybody Dance" - you cannot tell he's ill at all. It's bittersweet to watch, but definitely well worth the investment (we'll miss you, Greg!).

*Edited to add (4/19) - Contrary to what one reviewer has stated, The Wiggles are not Barney-esque AT ALL. Ugh, even just the thought of it...*shudder*

This DVD, among several other Wiggles DVDs, is GREAT! My son has enjoyed watching it since he was about 4 months old and will probably still be watching after he is a year old. The wiggles are my on call babysitter. And what is so amazing, is that I don't want to smash the disc into tiny bits after watching it a few times. If you don't mind letting your kid watch a bit of TV so that you can get some things done, buy this DVD.

My 2 year old loves the Wiggles. Problem was that the TV show just didn't have enough songs for him. This DVD did the trick. We've watched it so many times I don't think I could count, I could however sing every song for you! Not exactly adult entertainment, but that's not what it was made for. My 17 month old son love the "iggles." Wiggle Time is fantastic. He stands in front of the TV and dances along (read, jumps up and down) to all of their songs. The only down side is that I find myself singing the songs in my head long after the movie is over!
