The first House of OM mix is brought to us by one of the best-known and loved ambassadors of the funky Chicago house sound: DJ Sneak. While Sneak is perhaps best known for his filtered Chi-town beats, the track selection on this mix is much more reflective of the style that he has embraced over the past few years--deep funky melodies, playful vocals, and big chunky bass lines. The mix quickly transitions from a light, quirky Spettro track into a smooth, funky Sneak remix of the year's breakout Lawnchair Generals track ("The Truth"). DJ Sneak shows his aptitude for expertly weaving the minimal with the melodic resulting in the most a fine balance between the two best seen on "Find A Way" and "Funky Rhythm." The OM label has a reputation for superb quality, and this mix is no exception. Though fans of the west-coast vibe may find some of the sounds inaccessible, those of us who have been down with Sneak from the get-go will feel right at home listening to this disc. -- Anish Acharya
