What a brilliant song this is.
The cd single is excellent and well worth buying, and not just for Madonna fans.
My personal favorite remix is "Brother Browns Bond-Age club mix".
Overall, all of the remixes are very,very good.

Reasonably wonderful.......2006-07-29

This single is great, with one little miss.
1. Radio Edit (3:30, 10/10): Just what it says.
2. Dirty Vegas Main Mix (10:10, 10/10): Doesn't move much, but still great.
3. Thee Retrolecto Mix (7:00, 11/10): GAWGEOUS! Felix da Housecat did a great job!
4. Thunderpuss Club Mix (9:26, 0/10): Thunderpuss, what happened? This is just beats and occasional vocals. When the pitch-shifted her voice, I just skipped to the next mix. Garbage. Horrendous garbage. I never thought I'd give anything Thunderpuss a 0/10.
5. Deepskay Remix (7:29, 100/10): The absolute best commercially-released "DAD" remix ever. The jewel of this single.
6. Brother Brown's Bond-Age Club (7:51, 10/10): With a name like Brother Brown, I was expecting a funky remix. I was wrong, but i a good way. Very chill.
I love this single so much. I have almost every song on my iPod. To those whining about it isn't a real Bond theme: get over it. Shirley Bassey's great, but they needed a bit of a change.

I paid under $8 for this maxi single and so being overly critical of the content is well....unnecessary.

Obviously the original mix of the song is really good, otherwise, why would you want to buy a remix of it?? As for the remixes, there are some good and some bad.

The 1st remix (Dirty Vegas Main mix) has a few (I stress 'few') good moments, but overall, it's too long and it doesn't do much for me.

The 2nd remix (Thee RetroLectro mix) starts out promising, but again if fails to progress into anything that interesting.

The 3rd remix (Thunderpuss Club mix) has an pounding beat (as would be expected) and really offers nothing else.

The 4th remix (Deepsky mix) is by far the best on the album becuase it manages to partially escape the obvious trap of remixes by avoiding getting mind-numbingly boring after 1 minute.

The final remix (Brother Brown's Bond-Age mix) is an easy pick for second best on the album, however, again, nothing all that great.

Overall, this album was dissapointing and offered no stellar remixes of a great single. The only reason to buy this would be if your a HUGE Madonna fan or you like collecting maxi singles. But, again, its only $8.

Her Best Single Since "Frozen".......2005-07-19

OMG, I adore this song! The lyrics are actually excellent, in my opinion. I love the "analyze this" part. The movie itself is horrible but this theme song rox! Also, check out her "American Life" album. Contrary to popular opinion, it's a brilliant album. Love ya, Madonna!

This is the Best Song Madonna Has Written For A Movie and The Remixes Will Blow You Away.......2004-12-24

This is the best James Bond song I have ever heard. It is also my favorite song written and produced for a movie by Madonna. A View To A Kill comes in a close second.This song went to number 6. The remixes are as good as Vogue and we all know how good Vogue is and the songs remixes. This song was also written and produced my Mirwais. This would have to be the 2nd maxi single next to Vogue with highly energized remixes. I like how she says "I need to lay down". The video is great with Madonna strapped in an electric chair in Korea and about to be electricuted but knocks the guys out and escapes. Later during the video the 2 Madonna's battle each other out. One is the evil Madonna dressed in black and the other is the good Madonna dressed in white. A truely amazing video!! Now for the remixes.

The Radio Edit: This is similar to the album version one except she does not say at the end "I need to lay down" like in the Album version. There are some tap sounds in the beginning and taps sounds at the end, I love it. Dirty Vegas Main Mix: This starts off simialr to the radio edit but there is a much extended version of this its excellent. Thee RetroLectro Mix is brillant and there is one sound in it that is absolutely superb.Thunderpuss Club Mix is my favorite remix. Theres so much power in the song. You could hear her laughing being remixed into the song and she says "analyze this this this" . The sounds in this one are very well produced and give the song so much more energy. Deepsky Remix: Is a fast remix too and is enjoyable to listen to. Brothera Brown's Bond-Age Club: Starts differenly too and is the only slow one from this brilliant song. She sings in it more and the music is less pronounced.

I would highy recommend this CD because of the highly energized remixes. All the remixes are great and you will not be dissapointed!!

Pleasing James Bond Soundtrack.......2006-06-13

David Arnold's DIE ANOTHER DAY soundtrack is adequately pleasing and chocked full of music. If you enjoy the "James Bond Theme" you certainly get a good dose of it here with several variations. Track 3: On The Beach, for instance contains the opening gun barrel music while Track 4: Hovercraft Chase, is a tour de force extensively and effectively using the "James Bond Theme" to good advantage. Track 2: James Bond Theme (Bond vs. Oakenfold) is an updated version of the theme not used in the film, but intended primarily for the soundtrack album. It is very good and combines modernistic elements with the traditional arrangement. Track 6: Welcome To Cuba is a vibrant piece designed to enhance the Cuban locale and it accomplishes this beautifully. Tracks 7, 8 and 15 all incorporate the Arnold's "Love Theme" composed for James Bond and Jinx Jordan. These are very rich and lush provocative sounding compositions composed for their private moments. "Die Another Day" performed by Madonna on Track 1 is a very non-traditional main title James Bond song that works well in the film and has to grow on you, which it has done with time. Overall, this is a good James Bond soundtrack.

This is an incredible James Bond score, maybe the best. It excellently blends classical orchestration, techno beats/keyboards, and a heart wrenching series of drama songs. This is one of the finest action movie scores in the last 5-10 years, and well worth 5 stars and a purchase.

I'll Find Another Way, There's So Much More To Know.......2006-04-29

This soundtrack has energetic & modern instrumental variations of the James Bond themes, and with Madonna's title track, the cd is worth borrowing to see if it has 2 or 3 tunes you'd enjoy.

One of the reasons I read reviews is to discover artistic gems I would not have known about otherwise. The soundtrack to a James Bond film may not be where a person would expect to find thoughtful art. And even fewer people may expect to find it in a Madonna song. Some of you may remember the unexpected and somewhat offputing torture scenes during the opening credits of Die Another Day. Madonna's song, Die Another Day, played during the scenes of grainy montages of drowning, electrocution, beatings, etc.

Madonna, from Like a Virgin, to Papa Don't Preach, to Express Yourself, to Love Profusion, had earnest, honorable, and genuine intents. Here are her lyrics to Die Another Day (in case you missed them while closing your eyes during the torture scenes):

I enjoy songs that champion the drive to stay alive under difficult, crazy, & disheartening circumstances. Everytime I hear popular culture pundits lump Madonna in with the "evils" and "immoralities" of mass media, I disagree. Madonna is not a great actress in this film. She is such a strong personality and compelling presence, it must be incredibly difficult for her to be anything other than herself. But her independence of spirit works well in other artistic expressions. She expresses herself musically marvelously, and I am grateful for her contributions.

Die Another Day was a brilliant film to feature the world renowned O07-and this soundtrack is just as awesome! The title track is expertly performed by Madonna-you can't get much better than this folks.

David Arnold is nowhere near as good as John Barry. I know John Barry recommended him to the Broccoli clan, but do they listen to the music? Have they tried playing it against Barry's? Please, please... there are other great composers out there I'm sure! Start looking! And do so in non-predictable fashion: No "names" unless they can back it up with a good score!

Madonna RAWKS!.......2006-07-03

I'll be the first to admit, I'm a bit biased when it comes to Madonna and her music. I'm a HUGE fan. However; since she is such prolific artist, it is sometimes very difficult to collect ALL of her albums and singles. This particular CD single is one example of the "What do I buy?" question. The big problem: It's short. Clocking in at a total of just over 13 minutes this CD features ONLY two songs, one of which you could of heard on the radio, the radio edit of an "Amercian Life". The redeeming quality is the second song, a VERY good dance mix of the James Bond movie theme "Die Another Day" by Calderone & Quayle. Value oriented people may like the price. The CD only costs 4 bucks. But for the NON-hardcore listener, pass on this CD single and get the MAXI-single, which as four more songs and is only 3 bucks more.

PART 1:Radio Edit+2 remixes(Missy Elliott+Peter Rauhofer's American Anthem Part1)
PART 2(Blue):Radio Edit+2 remixes(Oakenfold Downtempo remix+Felix Da Housecat's Devin Dazzle Club mix)
And you can find the 4 reimxes in PART 1 & PART 2 also available on the REMIXES CD.

So the best way to own complete AMERICAN LIFE collection is get the REMIXES CD 'n this one,then you would get all the remixes and also the radio edit(though it's just little different from the album version),and plus a exclusive Remix of DIE ANOTHER DAY which you can't find on any other CDs.

Don't waste money on the other two 3-trk-singles,thought there are just 2 tracks on this single, it's worth.

This is the CD Single of Madonna's "American Life". It features the [Radio Edit] of the song where the explicit lyrics are deleted. The track clocks in at 4:28, compared to the 4:57 album version. As a bonus, "Die Another Day" [Calderone & Quayle Afterlife Mix] is included on this CD Single. The 8:52 minute mix is not available on the "Die Another Day" CD Single, and as far as I know, is not to be found on any other CD than this one. If anything, this track is worth the small price. In addition to this CD Single, Madonna fans should also buy the "American Life" Rmxs MAXI Single. It features 5 versions of "American Life", none of which are the [Radio Edit], as well as another bonus track "Die Another Day" [Richard Humpty Vission Electrofield Mix]! Terrible, absolutely terrible. There are all kinds of samplers of the wonderful original James Bond soundtracks. I don't see any reason why anybody should go with this chintzy reenactments. It truely i s Las Vegas sound: glossy, smoothed, soaked with saxophone and drippy strings instead of all the legendary singers.

Bond always loved casinos - but he didn't deserve that!

This CD is awesome. Most of the titles from the past and present including Die Another Day! They are very well made, and very close to the songs. Completely worth getting for any James Bond Fan.

If you like James Bond 007 music themes from the motion pictures you should find this to be a very satisfying album. "The James Bond Theme" and "Thunderball" sound first-rate. I found the cover art very interesting, as are the musical arrangements.

Beauty of the music..........2006-08-10

String quartet versions exelled such beautiful performance! After reviewing Tupac Shakur's original albums, I decided to check out the string quartet. To be honest, Tupac's work shows such strong, beautiful meanings of his life while the string version plays the beauty of many instruments dedicating to Tupac's work and his music. For those who love rap and a side of classical listening, this is one collection you can't pass up to!

I am both a James Bond as well as a Madonna fan. I liked this song the very first time I saw the music video. It's cool, different and innovative. It does seem to grow on you. I like the "Radio Edit" and the "Thee RetroLectro Mix" was really a surprise and startling.

Madonna is just amazing, this CD doesn't fail, and although a little iffy at first, it really grows at you. I'm just blown away by how Madonna could release something this experimental, brilliant, and catchy, twenty years into her career. It's a good sign for the future, and her album, coming out next year. Can't wait!!! The best is yet to come, it's not her time to go!!!

Pierce Brosnan makes this Film Work.......2005-12-06

This song evokes several impressions of DIE ANOTHER DAY. I really enjoy the several remixes. They bring several important elements of this film to mind. Watching DIE ANOTHER DAY is like viewing two different consecutive movies. The first hour is very good and we see our hero get involved in and out of some situations we thought we would never see on the screen. Bond is not infallible but he is resourceful and loyal and will not be deterred from seeing duty and justice served. The second hour reverts to the superhero version of Bond this time aided by gadgets and computer generated effects that defy all credibility. The second hour of the film takes a curious turn. It moves from very traditional Bond territory into a world of outrageous science fiction via computer-generated effects. This has been done before to a degree but it is really the tone of the film and director Lee Tamahori's handling of these elements that are questionable. Toby Stephens as Graves wearing some virtual reality getup emitting computer generated electrical energy and other outrageous mayhem thrown in for whatever reason do not truly fit or work as filmed in this second hour. This is not the stuff James Bond films have been made of. Halle Berry as Jinx has one of the weakest parts of any Bond girl to date. If you examine DIA ANOTHER DAY closely Jinx has very little screen time, character development and most importantly a true lack of character motivation. Rosamund Pike gave quite a refreshing performance as Miranda Frost. Emilio Echevarría as the flamboyant Raoul and Kenneth Tsang as the restrained and honorable General Moon turned in much needed gritty and well-honed performances. John Cleese as the new Quartermaster looked quite at home and he is a good fit working off of Pierce Brosnan's excellent portrayal of James Bond. Madonna's cameo as Verity the fencing coach wasn't bad all things being considered. Also, her main title song went appropriately well with the film's opening which showed Bond's ordeal in captivity in North Korea. This added a much-needed grittiness more familiar to the literary James Bond and also returned to the traditional backdrop of the Cold War. David Arnold's still proves that he is quite capable of scoring a Bond film in the best tradition established by John Barry. There is quite a bit of good scoring in this film that unfortunately did not make it onto the soundtrack album CD. However, we get several interesting remixes on this CD of Madonna's main title. They really make me contemplate Pierce Brosnan's performance and I can only say that he is an outstanding James Bond surpassing all my expectations and initial doubts since he took the role in GOLDENEYE. Pierce Brosnan makes DIE ANOTHER DAY work because of his ability to portray James Bond as a tough and resourceful agent underneath a very likeable charm. Pierce Brosnan should be playing James Bond again in my opinion. Actors with his unique qualities are rare. Madonna's equally unique DIE ANOTHER DAY has been very misunderstood. There is a statement being made here about the endurance that Pierce Brosnan has brought to the role with her enigmatic performance of this song. A good job all around.
