On the wings of the hit club single "Blue (Da Ba Dee)," the Italian group Eiffel 65's Europop has soared into the ever-fleeting good graces of the dance-pop scene. The song is "a story about a little guy who lives in a blue world," and while it seems that the color of the fella's life was chosen arbitrarily, the real star of this tune is the vocoder effect reintroduced on Cher's megahit single "Believe." Listen to the entire record, though, and you'll hear this gimmick on almost all of the rest of the tracks as well. On first run-through, the one-trick-pony-ness of this effect is off-putting, and yet it is the album's one distinctive element. The songs on Europop live up to the album's broad moniker, skimming the basics of tried-and-true dance-pop ("Living in a Bubble," "Now Is Forever"), techno ("Dub in Life," "Another Race"), and acid house ("Europop"). The group even renders a fairly accurate impression of Depeche Mode-style goth-pop ("Your Clown"). But the tracks rarely deviate from a four-on-the-floor thud, numbing the ears to the songs' otherwise distinguishable qualities. The record is too hard to swallow in one bite; its tracks are much tastier as singles, serving well in a club setting as segues to stronger songs by other artists. --Beth Massa

3 out of 5 stars Some Fun.......2007-04-19

Eiffel 65's one-hit-wonder effort with "Blue" prompted me to give the CD a go and see what else they were capable of. It has to be said that some of the songs are actually pretty catchy and just fun.

"My Console", (though a bit dated now with PS3 out), should appeal to any Playstation addict out there. Surprisingly, I though "Blue" was not the best song on the CD. "Dub in Life", "Move Your Body", and "Another Race" all sounded better to me. One of my personal favourites is "Now Is Forever", which is a bit slower than the others, but still pretty cool.

On the balance of it, this is not a bad CD. It is not brilliance, but it is a fun and catchy collection of songs.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent product condition. On-time delivery........2007-04-12

The product was found to be in excellent condition. The delivery was exactly on the time frame specified. I have been searching for EUROPOP for 6 years. Its not available in the Indian Subcontinent. I searched a lot, then my friend recommended me, Amazon. I really thank Amazon team for their awesome collection of music CDs. This is my first international purchase and it proved to be one of my best deals. Looking for more shopping at Amazon. Thank you.

5 out of 5 stars NOT A KID THE BEST FREAKIN ALBUM EVER MADE!.......2007-03-23

This cd has the greatest classic SPACE MUSIC feel of all time. Songs blue, hyperlink, your clown, dub in life, too much of heaven and silicon world all ROCK!

2 out of 5 stars One good song and nothing else.......2007-03-17

I bought this album because I liked the song "I'm Blue." However, when I listened to the whole album, I was glad that I bought the album used for $3. The other songs just didn't match up to "I'm Blue" and some of them were downright annoying. Though a couple songs on the Europop album have a catchy beat and occasionally ok lyrics, the album isn't worth your money.

5 out of 5 stars Fun and more than just Blue.......2007-02-11

I'd heard the song Blue and, like everyone, hummed along. I thought it was that Blue Man Group or whatever. While in Boston, I heard the song 'Too Much of Heaven' in a music store and asked the clerk "Who IS that?".

So I bought the CD for two songs. What I got was a dozen other great songs! The songs are well composed...

Ok, I don't really know why I like this CD so much, but I do. As do my kids. Friends have laughed at me when they see this CD, but as soon as I play it they're singing right along...

5 out of 5 stars top of the eiffel65.......2007-07-09

i have follow this group since the hit blue, all productions were top dance english songs, but i have to admit that i have found something better here: the songs in Italian soungs G R E A T E R ! ! !

I like too this two-CD edition because includes remixes.

4 out of 5 stars Eiffel 65 .......2007-05-28

Eiffel 65 made Italian techno. Listening to this cd, one will never get bored because its fast paced tempo will keep anyone on their feet! Don't worry if the Italian language is not in your vocabulary, this set also comes with the translation of English songs as well.

5 out of 5 stars Another smashing success.......2007-05-15

If you enjoyed their first two CDs, you'll definately love this one. This CD is the extended edition which includes two CDs- one mainly in Italian and one mainly in English, although there is a lot of overlap. I enjoy the fact that after listening to the English CD a lot, you can pop the Italian version into the CD player and hear it in another language. Even though I don't know Italian, it gives you an opportunity to really listen to and enjoy the music more than the lyrics. Please note that the mainly English CD does contain some Italian songs and the mainly Italian CD does include some English songs, which makes it even more worthwhile to listen to both CDs once in a while. Definately a 5 star CD (in my opinion, of course).

4 out of 5 stars Bravo! Buon lavoro!.......2007-03-09

This Italian trio has always made me smile and dance. This CD is no exception. I feel that this CD was a step back for them, however. It is good, but the music is a return to the glory of "Blue". Particularly "Cosa Restera". Oh Nostalgia. I think that the best CD they have made is Contact. They broke quite a bit of new ground on that CD. Having said this, I do love the fact that the songs are mostly in Italian. In the deluxe edition, the English versions and some remixes are also included. Not only is the music upbeat and catchy the lyrics have good messages. Today/Oggi is very inspirational. It is too bad they had to break up but "così è la vita". At least we have the new group Bloom 06 which came out of the ashes.

3 out of 5 stars A little boring.......2007-01-24

Unless you're a hardcore Eiffel 65 fan, pass this item. I would recommend their first album, or Contact. This album is kind of a "sleeper." Not many stand-out tracks. I haven't even ripped this disc yet, bcuz I don't have the motivation.

5 out of 5 stars Europop at it's BEST!!!.......2001-06-07

This Album is the best version of Europop! It includes the original europop Cd AND an additional Cd which has 3 mixes of Blue, 2 mixes of Move Your Body, and 1 of Europop. It also has the Blue Video and the Europop Video Clips. It would have been nice if they included yhe Too Much Of Heaven Video also but I'm not complaining!! I could listen to this CD all day long while surfing the net (which I usually do on weekends) but I have to go to work. 2 New years ago one of my good friends threw a HUGE Millenium Party and we played it and all night long everybody danced and had a good time!! I can't wait till their new CD comes out!!!

5 out of 5 stars My Eiffel 65.......2000-12-07

I have listened to this album many times and I always hear something new. The chord progressions work so well and listening to every song straight through is quite an experience. Being a musician myself I can understand the talent need to produce such work. The remixes are great too and just add fun twists to already fabulous music. My advice is to buy this album not just once, but a few times in case you wear out the CD.

5 out of 5 stars Yo listen up here's here a CD that kick some Da Ba Dee!.......2000-09-05

I just got from a cruise that went to Mexico. I ask the Dj to play my cd that has the blue Megamix. Everybody on the ship dance that all night long. This album is worth the money! Da Ba Dee it has a meagmix that kicks a lot blue 3 more remixes of Blue has 2 Excellent mixes of "Move Your Body", one mix of Europop.

Here what's on the album: CD1: 1. Too Much Of Heaven 02. Dub In Life 03. Blue (Da Ba Dee) 04. Livin In A Bubble 05. Move Your Body 06. My Console 07. Your Clown 08. Another Race 09. Edge 10. 5 out of 5 stars Double Platinum - Album of the Year!.......2000-05-27

If you are a big fan of E65 this should be the CD set to get! It has the Europop parade mix! It's the version they play in concert and sounds the best! The videos are also worth having as well. It would be nice if we can get the video for To Much of Heaven! I give this 2 thumbs up!

5 out of 5 stars This CD Rocks!.......2000-05-09

This is the ultimate dancing music! What attracted me was "Blue", I usually don't buy a CD for just "1" song. But I lucked out when I bought this one! I'm always looking for new music-(Dance, Electric, Techno), this CD will keep me entertained for months. This is the finest in Dance music! It just makes you want to get up and cut up the dancefloor! This is 100% High Energy! I definitely recommend it to all you DJ-Dance fanatics!

5 out of 5 stars An exceptional dance tune........2006-01-15

Personally, being a dedicated musician who truly digs a lot of genres of music beyond what mainstream listeners typically do (such as Miles Davis, Fusion jazz, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles), "Blue" by Eiffel 65 is a testament to how real good music transcends genres. "Blue" is a great song, and is the only dance track I've said that about. And I've got a picky taste. It's got all the nessecary elements of a great tune such as a good melody, a cool groove and power. "Blue"s beautiful, and screw the fact that it's commercial dance tune, or whatever, but it's a great song, and one of the very few today that actually deserved to become number 1 across many nations. "Blue" rocks. It's a much better song than probably all other music in its genre.

5 out of 5 stars This CD ROCKS! YEAAAAA!.......2001-12-11

I like this song a whole lot. It is very good. It is fun to listen to. Also the members are cool too. And for the person that talked about disguising voices, that is not true. The vocalist is in fact a very talented singer! Ha! And for you people who dont like this song, what do YOU listen to? Lip Synch? You criticize a good, hardworking group whilst you listen to garbage. That's not nice! Well anyway this song kicks butt! Yayy!

5 out of 5 stars tight.......2000-04-19

This is the coolest song on the radio and I like the video. That person who said my faviorit song is dum is a meany weany contract fe fe. I have feelings about that song fatty booty.

2 out of 5 stars Annoying effect.......2000-04-19

What are we to make of this seemingly meaningless recording? By the time it ends it has expressed little and accomplished nothing. Chief among its features is the use of the vocoder, a machine first heard by most people in the seventies that distorts vocals; it has been recently used by Cher and others. Simply put, vocoder effects were cheesy in the seventies, and they are still now. I hope this trend will soon pass, like the too-much-echo and saxophone solo fad of the mid eighties, or the harmonica solos of the mid nineties. Here the vocals are made terribly annoying.

5 out of 5 stars Wow!.......2000-04-16

I heard the song Blue on the radio. I usually don't like that kind of music, but when I heard this, I was sort of attracted. The people who go out of their minds to write bad things about this song really don't have a reason for it. Check it out!

    4 out of 5 stars Party!.......2006-06-29

Alright. So I've been a fan of Eiffel 65 since elementary school (I am now a high school graduate), and Europop has been on rotation for all this time, and I had no idea there was more cd's from them. After finding out there was more cds, I had to get them immediately. Here are my thoughts on Control.

    1. Lucky (In My Life) - A Little overrated in my opinion. I have no idea why people say this song is so good. It's not. Not horrible either, don't get me wrong, but it's definetly not a good intro to the cd. 6/10

    2. New Life - Great dance track! At first listen, I didn't like it at all but it grew on me pretty fast. 9/10

    3. One Goal - A little boring? ...worst song on the cd. 4/10

    4. King of Lullaby - Slow, melodic, great. 8/10

    5. DJ With The Fire - This is the first song on the cd that really caught my attention. It'll make you dance for the entire 4:37 minutes!! 10/10

    6. Crazy - Meh 6/10

    7. Far Away - I don't get what all the hating is with this song. It's fantastic!! Probably one of my favorites. 10/10

    8. I Don't Wanna Lose - This song is slowly growing on me. It's also a slow song. 8/10

    9. Morning Time - Aside from the chorus, this song is slightly boring. But it is a great chorus... so 7/10

    10. Life Like Thunder - This song has a disco feel to it (at least i find so). Fun dance track :) 10/10

    11. Back in Time - This one gets stuck in your head all the time! It's catchy as hell! 10/10

    12. Johnny Grey - Not too bad, but gets boring/annoying pretty fast. 7/10

    13. Brightly Shines - I like these slow Eiffel 65 songs :) 9/10

    14. Losing You - One of the best songs on this album. The she-vocals make a little change and it's nicely placed after two slow songs to get the party started again. 10/10

    15. People of Tomorrow - Not a big fan of the lyrics (technology? c'mon now). But I'll give it a nice score because of it's catchyness factor. 9/10

    16. Journey - :D 9/10

    17. 80's Stars - Amazing song to finish off this cd! It'll leave you wanting more! 10/10

Overall, despite the boring songs here and there, the good ones are SO GOOD they make up for it. Great cd!! I highly recommend it. Party on!

5 out of 5 stars Another amazing album........2006-04-20

I heard Cosa Restera first, and wondered if this album, Contact!, could be just as good. I was surprised how amazing this album is. It fortifies the fact that Eiffel 65 is the greatest band of all time, and is a must buy for everyone.

5 out of 5 stars Catchy, postive, and just plain fun!.......2006-02-04

As a fan of Europop, I recently got my hands on the follow up, and I enjoy it even more. I admire these guys so much for their positive outlook on life, stuff you usually don't see in the music of today. And I never tire of Jeffrey Jey's vocoder-enhanced voice, either. The songs are pretty simple and repetitive, but this only makes it more easy and fun to sing along with. They certainly have a great talent for this type of music.
While this group isn't for everyone, the length of this album is quite generous and should have you singing and dancing for quite some time.

4 out of 5 stars DJ with the Fire.......2005-10-26

I enjoy the the songs "I DJ with the Fire", "People of Tomorrow", "Life Like Thunder". Those particular songs have an upbeat that you can't stop listening to. It keeps you going throughout the day if you're tired. I recommend you listen to them while driving. I've listened to their 3rd CD. I can't understand the itallian on most of the songs. I hope they come out with a 4th CD and release it in the US unlike the 3rd album. Anyways, dance the night away!

5 out of 5 stars crazy funky sexy cool.......2005-06-05

i am a big fan of all dance and electronic music and i must say that contact is one of my favorites its tunes and lyrics are incredibly catchy and i often go off to school humming people of the world. i feel that anyone who is a fan of faster beat dance buy this album as it surpasses even their first europop.

    5 out of 5 stars Catchy.......2003-10-14

Too Much of Heaven is a very well-produced techno song. I enjoy the lyrics, though heavy at times, and the overall feel of the song. This single includes both versions of 'Heaven' as well as Hyperlink, which is also good.

5 out of 5 stars Too Much Of Heaven.......2000-04-22

This is a great import CD all the way from Germany and is not released in the USA yet. The tracks are..., 1. Too Much Of Heaven (Radio Edit, 2. Too Much Of Heaven (Album Mix), and 3. Hyperlink (Deep Down). On the cover of this CD it says Eiffel 65 and Too Much Of Heaven with a great cloud illustration in the background. The CD is grey and has great sound quality. 3 out of 5 stars Return single failed to make an impact..........2002-01-12

Eiffel 65's first major release from thier new (and fantastic) album Contact! has been the greatest letdown. The different sounding, "poppy" tune" is okay, but nothing outstanding, as you would expect from a major band like Eiffel 65. Lucky is fairly repetitve and isn't very catching when you first listen to it. I think it was a wise move from the group to create and discover a new sound, but Lucky isn't the best track to choose. Songs such as New Life, I DJ With The Fire, Back In Time and the Depeche Mode inspired Brightly Shines are by far the outstanding tracks from their new album Contact!
The major reason why this has been a flop is because Eiffel 65 have put absolutely no promotion into this single (and album) and consequently is has flopped in most European charts. But it hasn't done all to badly considering Eiffel 65 didn't do a massive amount of promotion for it. In their hometown of Italy they put a lot of promotion into it and it became a successful top 20 hit in the charts and in Canada it went top 30 without no promotion. I doubt that this song will be the first major radio single to be released in the USA in the future, if they bother releasing their new album in the USA. I reccommend you listen to this before you buy...you might be a bit dissapointed.
