Not too shabby.......2005-10-15
I got this when it was first released and hated it. I hated it. Yes. Hatred. I got it expecting the GU releases. It is nothing like them. Then I popped it in a few years later and I love it. Why? Because it is actually really good. There is something in the acting industry known as "type cast" where if you play a schizophrenic one-eyed leprechaun with a Vietnamese accent in a sailor suit in a role really good, chances are you'll play a schizophrenic one-eyed leprechaun with a Vietnamese accent in a sailor suit in all of your roles in the future. It has hard to break that mold because everybody just accepts you as that and thinks you're annoying for trying to do something else. (Remember the "I-didn't-do-it-boy" from the Simpsons?)
If you like this type of music you will like it instantly, if not, and are used to Oakenfold's mixes like Ibiza, Another World, GU, Essential Mix, or Tranceport then this might be an acquired taste. Its not for everyone - nothing is. But don't bash it because its not cookie-cutter with his other mixes.
The only thing bad is that there is no Union Jack or Art of Trance on this. I think Monsoon could have fit in here near the middle. But that's me. The cd is awesome even without it, so who cares. Enjoy!
Oblivion.......2005-05-09
Whoa!Remind me again what reality is...This cd will take you off into other worlds and make you think your trippin on acid.Oakenfold really surprised me when he released this, this is pure tranced out bliss, and his 2nd best album.....This Psychedelic/GOA trance cd is mind boggling, and any dance fan must have a copy of this.
This is NOT a Paul Oakenfold Offical Release.......2005-02-04
All the real Oakey fans know that this disc was not an "official" release by Paul Oakenfold. Actually 99.9% of the material on this disc was leftover Paul Oakenfold scraps that an old Oakey collaborator took illegially from studio sessions that Paul did not think were good enough for his fans to listen to or release. The collaborator wanted to cash in on Oakey's success. The scraps were then mixed by an unknown DJ - NOT Paul Oakenfold.
Oakey actually sued collaborator over this release. Buy the CD and never open it - eventually it will go out of print - it will gain value becasue it is not Oakey on decks!
Very sweet voyage - it's in 5.1 Dolby on the DVD.......2005-01-26
I bought this CD originally about ten years ago. The original black cover with the indian fella on the front. One continuous track.
I notice this entire set hasd been re-released into Dolby Digital 5.1 on the DVD version with visuals. I don't do hallucinogenics anymore but the audio on the DVD would certainly be much better in a 5.1 mix.
You will no doubt agree that the highlight of this song and quite possibly one of the best pure trance song's ever is the final track, LSD by Hallucinogen. Simon Posford is the brains behind Hallucinogen. If you enjoy the last track then I highly recommend picking up his solo album Hallucinogen - LSD. It opens with the closing track heard on Oakenfold's album.
Okay Paul is a bit of a wanker personally, but this is a very well done album. I look forward to hearing it in 5.1
Dated cd but still classic.......2004-09-23
This cd isn't your normal Oakenfold. It's that electric kinka mid 90's sound that is a little bit repetitive. but oakenfold did this well. This was type of techno was really popular at the time and he did a great job at it. This cd is dark and hard and really entertaining. Don't so much get this cd if you like tranceport and are expecting those kind of results from this cd. But this has electric power coming from it. I do think that this cd is worth buying, exspecially if you wan't a blast from the past. Not a 5 because its a little repetetive.

Wow Paul Oakenfold made another legendary mix.......2006-02-28
This is just great and I wasn't into trance till 2000s and this is maybe that was played in the late 1980's. I really like this album.
The beats sound so fresh and the track selection is just so great and the mixing here is flawless and probably better than Tranceport.
But of course this album isn't to get you moving but just a great album.
There is no emotion in this album nor the journey of trance.
Verdict: 4.3 out of 5.0 Oh yes get this and get the real meaning of quality trance and skip the "gay music". A double-disc would be nice if Oakenfold ever thinks on playing this kind of music again.
Must get for trance lovers and Oakieholics.
Not the paul oakenfold we love/hate........2004-04-18
This is a great album from paul oakenfold before he "sold out". This version is the one with the black cover and if I remember correctly an indian type man with a butterfly or something. This was later rerelease without the original record company's authorization or paul's. Same exact music, but this copy doesn't divide the tracks up. Its only one song, some 60-70 minutes long. Not true hard core goa, but a good introduction none the less. For you elitists, hunt down this copy :-)

Impressive mix for the time.......2004-04-15
I have listened to many of the long progressive trance albums: Paul Oakenfold - Paul Van Dyke - Sasha - Ferry Corsten - George Acosta - Danny Tenaglia - Tiesto and i must say i love them all. but i only recently heard of Rampling . all i can say is i look forward to getting some of his more recent works. this is a good album if your like progressive trance, psy trance aka goa. for the time ('96) this sends you on an enjoyable trip. This is the second cd from the 'a voyage into trance' Oakenfold mixed the first and Rampling did the second, both Oakenfold's and Rampling's mix have their own mood about them.. i would say they are about even in skillfullness, flow, track progression etc... the only thing that poked at a nerve was (and i hope i can say this so you can understand what i mean) that some of the tracks use rather high pitched instrumentation that has an inhairent annoyance about. but if this is what comes from Rampling at such an early state in progressive trance music .. i gotta see what his later years hold.

a weird trip into a trance of something...........2003-03-08
this cd is pretty cool. kendall has an unique sound. the beats are good and it sounds like something good. i heard he used to be on MTV. i wonder why he isn't anymore? anyways if you like this cd get Root Beer by Jimmy Somerville too.
Kendall has a unique sound, but is too repetitive........2001-11-13
I was bobbing my head pretty good for the first few tracks, but then it started to get old pretty fast. I like his unique sound, but there is not enough variety and transition on this disc. Unfortunately, a lot of the songs sound too similar. Perhaps it will grow on me and I'll edit my review, but for now, you can do better with other discs (see my other reviews).
If you like Oakey's Vol. 1, you'll love this!!.......2001-10-22
I had never heard of Dave Kendall before I purchased this CD. I was ecstatic that a sequal was made, and I bought it completely on faith that it would be true to it's predacessor, Paul Oakenfold's "Voyage Into Trance", which is one of my all-time favorite goa/psytrance mixes. I am definitely not disappointed. In my opinion, it's slightly darker than Oakey's VIT, but very similar in concept.
There is a theme of "Seven Chakras", which are explained one by one in little audio clips throughout the album... I guess some meditative practice Kendall is into.
Oh yeah, and what's up with starting and ending the mix with the same song? Wierd...
All in all, anyone into goa/psytrance would totally dig this album. I'm really hope this catches on like the "Tranceport" series and there are more volumes to this!!
