Good songs but lots of filler too.......2007-04-19
"Jude Cole joined the British power pop band the Records in 1980, after their first album was released; he stayed with them for one album. After a few years, Cole re-emerged with his own solo record, 1987's Jude Cole, which was a much slicker, mainstream-oriented affair than any of the Records' records, yet it did have its charm; unfortunately, it was ignored. That was not the case with his second album, 1990's A View From 3rd Street, which had a bona fide hit single with the sweet, yearning "Baby, It's Tonight." Another single from the album went Top 40, as Cole enjoyed a surprise success. Although he wasn't able to repeat his success with the follow-up, it was another solid album of mainstream pop/rock, full of shiny hooks and sleek, memorable melodies." -- Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Jude Cole's music falls into the adult contemporary rock field. I would describe Coles style as a cross between two greats, Bruce Springsteen, sans the horns, and John Cougar Mellencamp. One could also make a case for influences from other greats, Southside Johnny and Tom Petty.
Now to my song! It Comes Around first came to my attention through the radio(At that time I liked the music on the radio), but of course the DJ never gave the song name or the artist. This happened a few times so I called the station and talked with the DJ. Once armed with knowledge of the artist and song title I headed to the local record store and purchased same. I was so enamored with this song that I even tried to memorize the words. It was fruitless because I cannot remember lyrics. I sure lots of people would not think this song is anything special but it hit me like a ton of bricks. It was the right song by the right singer at the right time. Coles singing by the way is very good, kind of folksy a tad country. The music also is heartland style, ala Mellencamp, and it sticks in your head until something else knocks it out. The song is apparently about some very attractive lady who goes to the big city seeking fame and fortune as told ostensibly by a childhood sweetheart. The lovely lady apparently makes it big but she's still not fulfilled and seems troubled which leads to drinking and ?
My Desert Island CD.......2006-10-26
I won't go so far as to compare Jude Cole with the Beatles, but you'd better hear this disc. How does this guy come up with this many top notch pop songs? I've been listening to it since the year it was released and I never tire of it. Truly an overlooked masterpiece.
Thanks, StarboundRecords.......2005-11-02
I ordered this from StarboundRecords thru Amazon. I received the cd very quickly and in perfect condition. I recommend using them. I've been looking for this cd for years and had almost given up on ever getting it.
Start the Car was my introduction to Jude Cole and I've been a fan ever since. My favorites on the cd are 'Worlds Apart' 'Right there Now' and 'When it comes Around'. A great collection of songs, all written by Cole.
One of the best ever........2004-12-03
My girlfriend recently asked me what album could I listen
to over and over and not ever get sick of. Hers is Elton
John's Greatest Hits Vol.1. Well,I would say this album is
a contender for me. A great pop album that mixes upbeat
rockers like, "Start the Car" with irresistable ballads like,
"Tell the Truth". Get a copy, even if it is used. Classic stuff!
Who's Gonna Drive You Home?.......2003-11-03
After the pleasant pop of "A View From Third Street," Jude Cole shifted gears to a more heartland rock sound. Nowhere is that more evident than the disc's title song lead-off, a combination of Springsteen/Mellencamp that rocks harder than anything from his previous two albums. I remember this album coming out just as I received a job transfer from Los Angeles to Nashville, TN, and it was a mainstay in my CD player through the three day drive.
The solid rock snap-to of the title track was just the kind of kick I needed to get a day on the road started. To this day, I can pull out the polished heartbreak of "Tell The Truth" ("let's start it over, or call it over...") the sad sack story of "First Your Money" and the been-there, done-that world weariness of "A Place in the Line" and I can instantly retrace my steps on I-10 and I-40.
So to say that I enjoy this disc even now is a correct assessment. It holds a cherished spot in my library next to other albums of the period by John Mellencamp, Del Amitri and Tom Petty. The production of James Newton Howard is also a standout, and again brings touches of Elton John to this disc. Highly recommended for those who thought "Third Street" wasn't rootsy enough.

Album Description
The best TOOL for SCHOOL! The second in this multi-interactive music series, "Smart Songs 2" introduces educational topics to young preschool through kindergarten age children in a fun-filled musical way. Kids learn about cleaning up, using the potty, brushing their teeth, good manners, spatial awareness, days of the week, Spanish animals, counting patterns, opposites, short vowels, and more. A variety of subjects and concepts are set to lyrics that encourage children to sing along, mimic a phrase, move as directed, or shout a response. These songs provide a great foundation for what kids learn at home, as well as in school, and this producer is recognized by companies such as Scholastic, and associations such as NAPPA, for the quality, educational value and/or gross motor skill development that their titles offer. A quick-view teaching guide is printed on the inside cover. Guest singers are Tim Russ (Tuvok), and Robert Picardo (The Doctor) from the TV series, Star Trek: Voyager. Lyrics, teaching, tips, and free educational activities can be printed from the AbridgeClub.com website, where comments and content suggestions are welcome. Recommended for age toddler and up.
Also available: "Smart Songs for Kids 1", and the gross motor skill music series featured in Scholastic's "Early Childhood Today Magazine": "Hoppin' & Boppin' for Youngsters" on CD, "Animal Romp & Stomp for Kids" on CD, "Movin' & Shakin' for Youngsters" on Video and CD.

Especially Liked "We're Born".......2003-07-12
I played this learning CD in the car today, and my daughter enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to seeing how she grows from it. I was particularly interested in the re-make of "Amazing Grace". I thought I would hate anyone touching that hymn, which is emblematic to many of the church. But I liked it! While it focuses more on life than on sin and God's grace, it is a good use of the music. In a very simple (politically correct) way, the song suggests the essence of life and the end of life when we say goodbye. I think it a good lead in to living in the light of God. - Pastor Heather
Educational Music.......2003-06-22
I saw this lady perform at the CHN (Home School) show in Riverside, and it was obvious that she put the same energy into this and her other CDs as she did on stage. The kids just loved her, and they responded to the variety of interactive songs. She was GREAT with them (even the bad ones). Some were verbal, and others we moved to. She had both the parents and the kids reacting to her lyrics. These songs aren't just for singing, and if you use them properly, you can learn a lot about interacting with your kids. I highly recommend this music series if you have young children.

Bands like The Fame are why rock and roll is here to stay........2005-08-31
I have read the great reviews of The Fame from New York sources I trust and ever since I got this CD, I cannot take it out of my car CD player--it says "play this loud" and you must--it will definitely improve your mood. These kids ROCK--but it's so intelligently free and fun--the songs are supreme rock--the sound is crisp and clean, the harmonies recall Beatles-esque sweetness but the lead vocals by Reno Bo defintely have an edge. The rhythm section is powerful and articulate and the guitar work is masterful but never overwhelms the demands of the song--it is perfectly balanced and a joy to hear. Rock on, The Fame!!! Make more recordings, quick!
