Product Description
After two successful volumes in their Loveslapped By series, the San Francisco house makers known as Loveslap! Recordings throw it into high gear, starting the New Year off right with a CD from one of the most revered and sought after American names in the business, Jay-J. 2003 Grammy nominee for Best Remixer, Jay-J compiles and mixes songs from his favorite artists and labels. A far cry from the scores of bland deep house CD's released over the past few years, Loveslapped Vol. 3 is just as addictive as it is enjoyable.
Over the past decade, Jay-J has established a reputation as a producer with the "Midas Touch". Opening Moulton Studios in 1998, Jay-J has released records on nearly every noteworthy house label from around the world, and has had an indelible impact on the sound of San Francisco dance music. As a DJ, Jay-J is known around the world for drawing huge crowds and playing soulful anthems to devastating effect. He brings his attention to detail and quality to every gig, proving he's every bit as potent in the booth as he is in the studio.
Let's be clear: it's the music itself that makes this mix so special. Jay-J includes several of the tracks he's done for Loveslap including the brand new disco soul stepper "Higher Ground". Llorca makes the role call with his excellent funk guitar punctuated mix of Miss Mee's "Surprise Me." The previously unreleased More Vox Mix of Kaskade's garage sizzler "It's You It's Me" sees some well deserved light of day. Movido's wicked reworking of K. Hand's "Get Down" steps up for some serious instrumental business as the disc's energy level is cresting. All killer no filler
This is the music Jay-J makes, it's the music he plays and above all, it's the music he loves. It's soul music with an eye toward the future, music you can listen to, music to DANCE to...

A Real Standout.......2007-02-18
Adjectives abound to describe the music on this CD: groovy lounge, funky jazz, uptempo soul - you get the point. The bottom line is the CD contains 72 minutes of quality songs in a genre (house/lounge/nuJazz) that produces a lot of mediocre music. I've found this single CD to be much more playable than many of the 2 CD collections in the bargrooves and Afterdark series. It has a nice variety of tracks without going to far in any one direction - from the smooth vocals on Give A Little and Surprise Me to the jazzy Sugar Baby Darlin and Feel the Music. A keeper and repeater.
U will not go wrong with this one.......2006-04-28
Despite what I have heard.....this CD is nice.I have been looking for the Grant Nelson's, "Feel the Music" for awhile now...needless to say I'm warm and tingly inside.(I moved from the south and its hard to find or hear certain types of music, but I relocated to NYC.... Dont get me wrong..I have some of the songs already on other CDs,BUT he (Jay-J)puts it together with style and taste. Similiar to seeing someone with the same outfit on as you ....but it seems as though you carry it better.
I love Miguel Migs....but 24th Street cant touch this one!
A very good dance album that's a little cheesy in spots - dance fans will still love it - 4.5 stars.......2006-01-10
Though I think Miguel Migs' "24th. Street Sounds" is a much better album (ok, that comparison's a little unfair, I know), Jay-J's "Loveslapped" is still a very good dance album. The production is pretty well done, but it's a tad hard to see many parties or clubs playing this compared to other albums (it's not bad, but there are better albums). The album starts off really well, but towards the end it fades out just a tad - overall it's great, though. I'd say the worst part about the album is when the female vocalist kicks in (see "I Can't Wait" for an example). She's not bad, but she's a little annoying and I think a guilty pleasure. It definitely gets repetitive after a while, but if all you're looking for is background music for a party than this is still a great CD. Overall I think it's not a classic, but dance music fans will still love it. Highly recommended!
Highlights include:
the entire album!
Another Awesome Set By Jay J!.......2005-04-09
A wonderful deep house set complied by Jay J. In particular, I love "KEEP HOPING" by BEARD FT AMMA. If you like also check out the other great tracks offered by Inspirit Music label.

Buy the other volumes first.......2005-07-08
Not nearly as good or as "San Francisco" as Vol 1 or Vol 3. Not that Harness isn't a good dj - but the choices on this and the overall feel is very different than works by the other 2 djs or anything by Miguel Migs. Papp, Migs, Jay-J & Farina are my favorite San Francisco djs - Harness is more influenced by East Coast/MAW sounds. Consequently this seems like it has faster beats and not as jazzy as the others.
The Soul of House.......2003-04-16
With this CD, David Harness brings us back to what house music is all about- soul, rythm and a great time. It's all very inviting, like Behind the Groove- a track that feels like a full-blown party you just walked into. Then you see your ex there, and it becomes Tortured Soul. A Lovely Day brings it all back around and the love and Latin vibes abound. Thank you David, for keeping the House love alive...
David Harness.......2003-04-08
Throughout this compilation, David Harness proceeds to capture the true essence of house music in San Francisco. You can tell from the track selection that David manages to express his character through the medium of his music. The opening track, Salsa Vibes projects images of a carnival in Rio. David takes jazz and soul influences to create a mix which exudes warmth and vitality. One of my personal favourite tracks on the compilation is Taboo Jazz which was produced by David himself alongside Charles Spencer. If you are looking for a layed back mix to relax and unwind to then it does not get any better than this.
Love Slapped Upside Your Head.......2002-11-22
If you love deep, soulful house this cd is a definate must have. The music pumps and pulsates, the rhythms making it difficult for you to not get up and dance. I know many who make it a point to show up wherever Mr. Harness is spinning because they know that he will make them scream and sweat! If you are a child of house, get on point and get this cd. This is one cd that is sure to never collect dust.
A Must Buy!.......2002-11-13
This is another brilliant example of just how talented and flawless a DJ is Harness. He is a man ahead of his time, but always in syncopation.

Album Description
Like every musical genre these days, House is undergoing transformation. Internationally acclaimed producer and DJ, Julius Papp, leads this metamorphosis with his newest release, Loveslapped by Julius Papp. Julius presents three tracks, along side other Loveslap artists who believe House should be a musical journey containing all the emotions, feelings and elements of real life. Moving away from the common "colder" synth-based sounds long associated with the genre towards the integration of more live instruments and organic sounds, Julius purposefully tells a story with his song composition and selection.
Building on his early musical influences from the 1970's when disco, soul and rock all coexisted on the same radio stations, Julius expanded his musical interests over the years to include everything from dance to old school funk to hip hop and jazz. With this eclectic culmination in mind, he developed a smoother edge, a deeply soulful soothing style of House that is captured in this new release.
Over the past decade, Julius has played radio, maintained packed residencies, and toured throughout the world. For this exciting new mixed CD, Julius drew exclusively from the Loveslap catalog and family of artists to create his realization of how it feels to be Loveslapped by Julius Papp.
Customer Reviews:
Julius Papp continues to inspire!.......2006-12-21
I've known few exceptional creative talents in my lifetime and even fewer geniuses.
Julius Papp is the only person on both lists.
His vision is always out ahead and around the corner, never redundant or static.
If you talk to him ask him to call me before I sell the story surrounding his first ever commercial offering to the National Enquirer.
Just the story because I still enjoy the tape to this day.
I know the way to San Jose!
the V.I.P. of House CDs.......2003-04-16
Loveslapped! by Julius Papp is all that I've ever wanted in a house mix: consistent, soulful, inspired and sexy. It's the essence of a pretty-people pool party in L.A. and a glowing sunset in Ibiza. All of the right elements of style and passion have been craftily mixed together by Julius Papp. This is the V.I.P room of house mix CDs.
Master of love and groove.......2002-10-03
Julius, you've come a long way baby.
Still the master from back in the day.
Do you know the way to San Jose?
Daddy's all grown up now and aren't we proud?
You must get "Loveslapped" by Julius Papp.
Nothing else compares to this experience!
3.5 for deep house done right.......2002-08-20
Way, way underground and for some time Julius Papp's been putting his fingers on some of the finest deep house music around. Last year's darling Esho Funi v1 would have made even the scantily clad Naked Music gals flush with envy, as the handful of alert buyers who snatched up that barely-marketed jewel well know.
Here, Papp again attaches himself to another American micro-label, Loveslap! Recordings, a family of a few highly talented individuals. He leads with his elegant guitar ballad "A Flower Blossoms," quickly trumped by the exquisitely backed vocals from Carrie on sweet love story "Adore" from Santillan, Gray and Brann. Vocal pieces and instrumentals are held in balance, with novel surprises (the French soul of "Belle et Bete") and occasional foray into jam band territory (the organic approach to "Rial".) Final nods go for the guitar-led groover "All I Do."
Except for some unwelcome keyboard interludes on "Azziza" and "Grace," Loveslapped is deep house done right, flowing together in a warm haze but with enough chops for the dance floor.
Reference Material.......2002-08-19
This is an excellent CD for the quality of production alone. Use this CD when testing new equipment or when you just need to put something on that will have you humming, smiling and probably cutting up the rug. The careful listener will hear a thing or two that they have not heard before. It's a mix cd so the tracks encompass a broad range of moods and tastes from soulful accoustic to mental electronic. The remix of "Adore" is a superb track which beautifully combines the best aspects of both worlds. Too often a CD like this one relies to heavily on a few big tracks but this disc is produced beautifully and the mood that is set never falters and great music is skillfully delivered until the end. It's not often that you hear a break or a revved up chorus and you lose your train of thought while conversing with friends but parts of this CD do that to me everytime.

Excellent Deep House.......2002-11-27
I just want to say that this Cd is awesome. Jazzy groves, soulful, and deep house can only explain the magnitude of this music. Julius Papp's style of mix is very unique. It incorporates a variety of dance styles. By the way, I also seen Loveslapped 2 which I have not purchased yet but will be getting this weekend. The guitar on the first track is wonderful!!!!
