Perhaps the most talented, diverse, and adventurous four hands in dance music production today, Deep Dish have fittingly chosen Moscow as the venue for their Global Underground debut. Combining the intrigue and mystery of the Russian capital with their own bottomless pit of discovery, Ali "Dubfire" Shirazinia and Sharem Tayebi weave one of GU's classic journeys. Disc one starts with 16b Vs Morel's warm, house-flavored "Escape (Driving to Heaven)," which shifts into Soul Provider's "Rise (Mas Collective Mix)." The ear-catching, Moog-like note during SSHH's smooth-stomping "Hold That Body (Wally Lopez & Dr. Kucho Remix)" is curiously addictive, and soon afterward we reach the heart of Moscow 021 with the psychedelic trance surround-sound of Chab's "The Dub Session (A Cooler Dub/A Harder Dub)." Shirazinia kicks off the second disc with a more direct nod to root influences, first using a dub-tinged Way Out West mix of BT's "Shame" before busting out a truly awesome trance dub gem, Blackwatch Presents Professor Okku's "Word Unspoken." Shuffle in other seamlessly folded treasures such as the driving Markus Shultz remix of Fatboy Slim's "Bird of Prey," the tense mystery of Accorsi/Robb's "Foundation" and the fluid denouement of Envy's "Faith," and you have another superb GU set for the collection. This record proves that in the world of trance-house DJs, Deep Dish are masters of their craft. --Steffan Chirazi

4 out of 5 stars Solid up to a point.......2007-04-13

I agree with most of the reviews already on here. Both discs have stellar track selection, but there are some that seemingly don't belong, etc.
Having said that, I still listen to both of these CDs pretty dam often. Specifically disc one, the mix from I Can See the Lights through Hot is great, because the tracks go together so well.
Disc two is kind of like two mixes in one. It goes from track one up to I feel stereo, the track runs out, and then Bird of Prey starts at its beginning and the mix takes an entirely new direction (that's not to say this isn't good - Manilla Sunrise is a great track).

Also I'd like to note that I just got two 10" subs in my car, and Moscow sounds great out of them.

In summary, this album is well worth the money - I've got most of the global underground albums and this one has a place with me.

3 out of 5 stars Its good but that about it.......2007-01-04

The only reason I got this CD was because it was recorded in Moscow, my home town. The double Cd has a few tracks that I enjoyed but for the most part it was a very blah CD for me. I have seen Deep Dish live and enjoyed their music, but this Cd just didn't do it for me.

5 out of 5 stars You Can't Go Wrong.......2006-07-22

You can't go wrong with this cd or deep dish in general. It has tracks from Morel, Dido, BT & Fatboy Slim. The cd is banging but as the liner notes indicate, the second cd is heavier. The album is composed of dark vocals and deep bass booming tracks. With tracks from Dido-Thank You and IIO-Rapture, file along with Stevie Nicks-Dreams in developing the Deep Dish style. This could be the best deep dish album. The mixing on toronto may be a bit better. The only problem is my cd skips. Probably a problem with production. Filing along with Deep Dish Renaissance, Toronto #25 & Dubfire Toronto. If you are looking for any deep dish, start with Toronto or this cd.

5 out of 5 stars Timeless.......2006-06-23

One of my favorite cd's it has great house beats, its tribal dark sexy moody bassy and has that phat bottomed funk.

Anyone who like any genre of house will love this cd.

5 out of 5 stars THE CD DESERVES 5 STARS BECAUSE IT IS A CREAM !!.......2006-05-20

Hello,
This CD was choose by DJ MAG as the BEST CD COMPILATION for the 2001. Come on guys that is enough to say about this CD. It is the best in their genre. The CD moves from Deep house to a Deep Trance, then comes a tribal sound...and BANG...another Deep Trance takes you on a journey that you will really enjoy. I hope that you listen this CD at a high level of volumen to feel and the listen the real effects of the mix.
