Amazon.com essential recording

When it comes to making albums of epic proportions, few rival this magnificent production that a trip the band took to New York City inspired in 1973. The underlying story is of a street kid named Rael who, thanks in part to the realities of big city life, undergoes a weird and mystical transformation. Containing extended instrumental sections showcasing the extraordinary talents of Tony Banks, Steve Hackett, and Phil Collins, as well as the expressive vocals and often disturbing lyrics of Peter Gabriel, this is the album that located Genesis truly on the map. --Paul Clark

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars The Path not Taken.......2007-06-16

This is the greatest achievement of the band Genesis. SinceTrespass they had been building toward a musical monument like this. And here they construct it.

I listen to the album now with deep regret. "Lamb" shows the innovative directions the band was going in. Back in NYC anticipates electro-rock (like Gary Numan) by 4 or 5 years; the Eno-esque soundscapes, while dated now, show a desire to experiment; the intense complexity of the songs is offset, unlike in their prior work, by a solid foundation of bass and drums, driving rhythms (just listen to the bass and drums in In the Cage); the songs are generally shorter and more varied in tone and style.

What could have been had they continued down this path ... such remarkable possibilities unrealized. But the creative chemistry of the original line-up was lost when Gabriel left and then, a few years later, Hackett. Genesis survived the transition into the 1980s, but only by selling themselves by the pound. They collapsed into a pop band.

For me, then, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, represents the apogee of the Genesis genius, a signpost to a path not taken.

5 out of 5 stars Genesis at thier peak.......2007-06-16

This record is just truly great. I always wanted to hear this record, because I always enjoyed the concept albums of Rush. Because I have always liked Genesis around the time of Phil Collins, I wanted to give Peter Gabriel a chance. This record is considered his magnum opus so I gave it a shot. It really is as good as everyone said. If you like Genesis or the idea of concept albums, get this CD. It really is a great one.

5 out of 5 stars Opera Prima.......2007-06-08

Here you can find the essence of Genesis and Peter Gabriel.
Also have the vinyl, but decided to go digital, and both sound alike.
You can buy it and enjoy it, no doubt.

5 out of 5 stars "Dock the Dick...".......2007-05-03

This is a terrific album and the whole experience has already been thoroughly documented in these reviews. Top-notch musicianship, daring lyrics, addictive hooks, innovative concept, the whole bit.

I've read lots of speculation about The Lamb's plot, but I think one possible theory has been overlooked. I believe it's given away in the second verse of the first song on the album:

... Metal motion comes in bursts,
But the gas station can quench that thirst
Suspension cracked on unmade road
The truckers eyes read Overload
And out of the subway,
Rael Imperial Aerosol Kid
Exits into daylight, spraygun hid,
And the lamb lies down on Broadway

A few seconds after the introduction of Rael, I believe he's immediately killed by this out of control truck with cracked suspension careening out from an alleyway, and lying dead on Broadway his soul is reborn and sent on this quest through some sort of "purgatory" (?). The album documents Rael's path to salvation with reflections on society, his own life and adventures in the afterlife. Rael has become the sacrificial lamb of societal decay, and in the end he finally does right by regaining his own lost love of self and others - at last discovering the "it." that life and compassion are made of.

One of the most amazing aspects of this album is that it allows a unique experience for each listener. The story lends itself to endless speculation and countless interpretations so it never really gets old. The lyrics are just vague enough and the music layered enough to constantly re-discover it. Once you "get it" it will haunt you for a very long time. Simply an amazing accomplishment.

Buy it, listen to it, listen to it five more times, then try to put it down. I dare you.

Contemporary metal doesn't get much better or blistering than Lamb of God, something the quintet proves track-by-track on this latest offering. Armed with a bevy of furious riffs and perhaps even more furious vocals, the group tears through tracks such as "Walk with Me in Hell" and "Foot to the Throat" with a ferocity too-little-heard among the sea of bands that the group has inspired in its still-young career. Detractors will be tempted to fault the band for its lack of subtlety, but they're clearly missing the point. There are but a handful of young heavy bands worthy of carrying the proud torch of metal in this decade, and Lamb of God--along with The Esoteric and Totimoshi--is one of them. Just take a listen to "Again We Rise," "Requiem," or "Pathetic" and see if you don't agree. --Jedd Beaudoin

5 out of 5 stars READ MY REVIEW!! (If you haven't heard it yet).......2007-05-22

This album is better than ever from "Ashes Of The Wake"! Their last album was more angry and sounds more pissed, but this album sounds darker and kick a** guitar solos! "Beating On Death's Door" was a really groovy sound, "Blacken The Cursed Sun" had a groovy part at the beginning too. "Walk With Me In Hell" had really catchy guitars and great song to start off the album! "Pathetic" and "Again We Rise" are the best tracks in this album!!! Randy is using his high-pitch screeches more than ever! So what parts of Randy's vocals sounds like Metallica, it's groovy as hell! Randy's vocals in the beginning of "More Time To Kill" was great! And good drumming in the beginning of "Forgotten (Lost Angles)"! GET THIS!!!!!!!!

5 out of 5 stars Glorious!.......2007-05-17

Easily one of the best metal albums out there. I normally don't like to buy new releases when I get into a band, but I started from the top and went back on this one. Never had I been so excited to get a new CD. All members of Lamb of God, shine here. Mark and Willie melt your face with devasting, though melodic riffs. John supports on Bass very nicely and gives it the punch the music needs. Randy and Chris are right on as always, and both have come along very nicely. The album still finds it's way to the top of my MP3 player all the time. Cheers!

4 out of 5 stars A More Experimental Lamb Of God.......2007-05-15

I have been a big metal fan for years, and I am a big fan of Lamb Of God; to me, they have taken the classic Slayer aggressive riffing formula and taken it to the next level. When I want heavy riffs, sometimes nothing scratches that itch quite like LOG. On "New American Gospel", they wrote dense, chaotic and intense metal that really hooked me....they refined that and added more progressive elements and structure on "As The Palaces Burn", and perfected their style, in my opinion, with "Ashes Of The Wake". I always look forward to a new LOG release, as each is slightly different from the last yet still firmly within the metal idiom, and heavy as hell.

"Sacrament" sees them experimenting and pushing themselves artistically; there are more atmospheric textural sections and a new reliance on full backing vocals from the band members, as well as a lot of experimentation with vocal style. Very cool, and certainly one of the best metal albums (yet again) in recent years. After listening to it quite a bit though, I have come to the conclusion that the production is a bit muddy, and nowhere near the almost perfect, crystal clear production on their last release, "Ashes Of The Wake"....I also think that occasionally their ideas don't really work as well as they have on previous releases...."Pathetic" is just OK, although the CD is worth buying just for the track "Requiem" alone, which is quite the rollercoaster ride of sick riffage. I can't wait to see what these guys do with their sound next. Keep it up...

4 out of 5 stars They are great!!!.......2007-05-07

This whole cd is good as well as all the other ones. But the reson I didn't give it 5 stars is because after seeing them live and hearing all the songs live they sound so much better!!! Def go see these guys live they are a blast. LOG rocks!!!!! Bringing real metal back!!!!

"Violence begins to mend what was broken." Boy, how he does it. Choosing not to borrow the pinky ring flash of the Underworld and but rather good old fashioned eye for eye justice, singer Randy Blythe croaks savagely though "Omerta." Backed by a healthy dose of lumbering menace, the song is sung as if by vengeance itself. Violence begetting violence is a constant on this album, both in music and word; in both personal trial and world politics. Lamb of God have show their 80's thrash roots on Ashes of the Wake by featuring solos from both Testament and Megadeth. The band plows forward taking from the new, the old, and adding their own stamp--heavy, angry, and political. --Daniel Mahon

2 out of 5 stars Sucks...........2007-05-20

I'm not a kid, I'm actually 17. This band does not do anything new or original for the genre of metal. Unless you consider throaty vocals an innovation. Just because Lamb of God is better than most contemporary metal bands, doesn't mean you should praise them. I say metal is dead(along with a plethora of other music genres). There are many great metal bands from the 70s - mid 90s, and I'm sure even the most diehard metalhead has yet to listen to a few. Let metal die, so we can stop misleading future generations of metalheads to listen to worse metal than they could actually be listening to.

5 out of 5 stars Spectacular!.......2007-05-17

Another delicious bit of metal sustenance for you to enjoy. No two Lamb of God albums are alike, they all have its own brutal voice. If this doesn't "light the match, and spark the fire" in your metal loving soul, you are broken and need to move on. Buy it... totally worth it. Cheers!

4 out of 5 stars pretty darn good album, if you ask me. .......2007-05-13

LoG are one of my favorite bands, to be honest. in fact, they're one of the bands that sparked my interest in REAL metal (not that limp bizkit, linkin park nonsense when i was in middle school) as of late. their style has been described as post-thrash and metalcore (thank God that the metalcore side of their music is dying out on this album, because i HATE metalcore!). i'm a big thrash fan, so i found this album pretty appealing.

the guitar riffs all have a thrash background to them. whether willie adler is playing the "vomit riff" in "hourglass" [...]or mark morton is pulling off that crazy solo in the title track, the guitar work is very impressive. the distortion that adler and morton use is very crushing, and will definitely make you want to start a riot, no matter where you are or what volume your audio player is at!

i also have to say that the bass is very well done, too. normally on metal records, the bass is sort of in the background and doesn't have much of a voice at all. good thing LoG turned up the bass, because i love that heavy, wall of sound feeling.

chris adler, the band's drummer, also has some nice drum grooves thrown in. every time he plays a song, i get the feeling that i'm in a warzone because the amount of double-bass he pours on in rapid succession sounds like a machine gun. this goes well with the messages of war imagery portrayed in the lyrics.

and who can forget randy blythe, the band's frontman? his hardcore snarl is harsh, brutal, and simply unforgettable. the lyrics (that i assume he's written) deal much with the current war in iraq, corruption, and social issues. the lyrical themes on this album nearly match up with metallica's on "ride the lightning," from the war and social issue point of view.

if there's one thing that this band is missing out on, it's musical variety. every song is played in drop-d tuning (groan) and the tempos all feel the same. heavy metal needs dirty, overdriven distortion, but this doesn't mean you can't slow a song down or throw in a clean interlude for once.

overall, the album is very well done. it's way better than any of that metalcore garbage that is flooding the markets these days. if you're a thrash fan and maybe looking for something new, this album's for you. cheers and have fun moshing!

5 out of 5 stars This is LOG's best album........2007-05-09

Another example of what modern metal can and should be. If you love monster sized riffs and pummeling percussion, these are your guys. Pure headbanging bliss, and they tear it up on stage too. Along with Mastodon, they are at the forefront of American Metal.

1 out of 5 stars one heck of a band.......2007-03-22

this is a great album, go out and buy it
i thought palaces was a crushing album and
ashes hit me like a freight train. sacrament solidifies
lamb of god as the towers of current metal,
whether they want to be there or not.
thats if there three previous albums - new american gospel
is good, a prequel of things to come - under the name
lamb of god didnt do that already

now for the most important part: IF YOU HAVENT ALREADY,
GO SEE LAMB OF GOD LIVE. set aside all your bickering about thrash/doom/death or
black metal, hardcore, metal core, grind core, post hardcore
"i hate trivium emo kids suck" whatever core, if you like
any sort of heavy music go see
these men live before its all over. you cant really stress this enough,
metal heads can vouche for me as to the importance
of seeing a band live, but lamb of god are pretty
much on their own cloud here in america as far as live shows go

if you saw lamb of god already at some gigantic venue,
check them out again, cause their doing
club shows this year. and if you saw them before ashes
came out, do yourself a bloody favor and see them now
that randy's voice (live) has grown to a multi-scale
thunder-prophet sorta crowd commanding yet never failing
growl. kicking yourself cause you never saw led zeppelin
live yet had the chance to, or frustrated that you never
even got to see them live? i'm not calling them zeppelin,
but i say dont
pass an opportunity like this up, its 2007 and there IS a
band out there worth paying to see

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful.......2007-06-14

This CD is a must have for any Mormon Tabernacle Choir fans. The music is very reverent and gentle, and should also appeal to those not from the LDS church, seeing as how most of the music is common to the wider Christian community. This CD is a fantastic addition to any music collection.

3 out of 5 stars A few bright spots, but also some disappointments.......2007-01-19

It Is Well With My Soul is one of my favorite-favorites and that is the main reason why I bought the CD; it turned out to be a huge let down on this album, they rearranged it so much that I almost didn't recognize it. Be Still My Soul is another reason why I bought it and it's good, but not great. Swing Low Sweet Chariot is where it starts to get good. The last two songs "Thou Gracious God, Whose Mercy Lends"
and "Come, Let Us Anew" are very good reasons to buy this CD, they each have truely powerful passages and make the CD worth having. The Mormon Tabernacle Choirs 2006 release entitled Then Sings My Soul is by far the best that I've heard from them.

5 out of 5 stars This CD Deserves SIX Stars!.......2005-11-05

However, the rating scale has a limit of five. I own over 700 CDs of virtually every type of music. Peace Like A River belongs in a class by itself! I've never written a review before but, after listening to this STUNNING performance by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, I feel compelled to share my praise with that of the five other reviewers. If I were limited to one word, I would use the word "SUPERB" to describe this beautiful and moving CD. SIX stars for Peace Like a River! BRAVO!!!

5 out of 5 stars every good adjective .......2005-08-06

This album is all beauty and solace. The singing is pristine, the arrangements lush and often stirring--never saccharine. As with the previous reviewer, my first listing of "Peace Like a River" brought me to tears (especially "Peace Like a River," the sopranos in "Swing Low," and the bagpipes in "Thou Gracious God"). Buy this one.

5 out of 5 stars Fabulous!.......2005-05-29

The perfect recording to help you recover from a long, hard day. Showcasing the MTC's "new" sound in contemporary choral arrangements with its own orchestra and conductor, "Peace Like a River" brought tears to my eyes in selection after selection during my first listen -- and I'm not normally an emotional person! The title song together with "Deep River," "Swing Low" and "Be Still My Soul" are alone worth the cost of the recording. Get this one!

4 out of 5 stars Excellent piece of modern metal........2007-05-09

This could be the soundtrack to an instructional video on how to headbang and mosh. For their masterpiece, check out "Ashes of the Wake". Also see "Sacrament" and "New American Gospel".

4 out of 5 stars Pure American Metal.......2007-01-22

I'm giving this album a 4 out of 5 because the sound quality is pretty bad. Their recording engineer should have been fired and replaced. There is a fine line between a raw-sounding album, and a poorly recorded one. Unfortunately, this one leans more toward the poorly recorded side. But with that being said...

This is one of the best metal albums I have heard in recent years. If there is a hope for the future of American metal, it truly lies in these guys.

Unlike most of today's newer metal bands, these guys actually have very well written, intelligent, and poignant lyrics. The lyrical themes tend to be socio-political to religious in nature: the album's two closing tracks are still some of my favorites.

Vocally, their frontman is a screamer/growler (usually, I'm not a big fan of that), but he is one of the few metal frontmen who can do it well: it is easy to understand what he is saying, and his vocals don't sound cheesy or weak, as tends to be the case with other screamers of any genre.

Musically, these guys are great. Chris Adler is one of the most creative up & coming metal drummers out there. While they tend to play heavy, almost pummeling riffs, these guys cover everything from creepy down-tempo songs to thrashy up-tempo pieces, and many points in between. They're definitely much more creative than most of the new acts out ther (this review can't really do them justice).

In summation, this is a great metal album, but the recording quality is pretty poor. Thankfully it (along with the band) has improved in their next album.

5 out of 5 stars Your CD collection is stupid unless it has this.......2006-11-16

I've never been more blown away by a compact disc

4 out of 5 stars Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man..........2006-09-17

What the hell is up with dude like this Brian R, A-hole who write that the Lamb are posers, man if you listen to Brittney Spears we dont expect you to appreciate the power and sheer brutality that is LoG so go back to watchin Mtv little boy and leave real metal to the Men. Now back to the review, this Cd is heavy, excellent riffs, drumming is incredibly, still not their best, listening to Ashes and Sacrament you hear maturity in the lyrics, song structures, riffs, etc, signs of greatness?, definetly. Now dont judge Sacrament by Redneck alone, sure its a bit more comercial but the rest of the album is brutal, reminds me of this album in a sense that its a bit darker and more groove oriented. highlights here include Ruin, with the drum break right in the middle urrrgghhh!!!!, 11th hour whata riff, Vigil starts of very pretty then grabs you by the balls, etc... Get this album, its a good starting point for any metal fan.

5 out of 5 stars One of Lamb of God's best.......2006-06-13

I consider this Lamb of God's third studio release (with the Burn the Priest album being their first). I've owned this cd for a long time, but didn't decide to write a review until now. This cd acts a nice bridge between the very raw New American Gospel and the more accessible Ashes of the Wake.
Lamb of God guitarists Willie Adler and Mark Morton really shine here, presenting the listener with a diverse variety of riffs. Drummer Chris Adler and bassist John Campbell always make solid deliveries and vocalist Randy Blythe screams, croaks, and growls his way through this 10 track, 38 minute cd.
The opener, "Ruin", aside from being one of Lamb of God's best songs ever, really engages the listener to the mood and feel of the album. "As the Palaces Burn" is a great follow-up, though a bit on the short side. "11th Hour" is unique from the rest, and offers a blindlingly fast guitar-drum give and take towards the end of the song. "For Your Malice" is slower with a chugging riff style, and manages to be very heavy and interesting. "Blood Junkie" lyrically sounds like it belongs more on New American Gospel, and is a nice change-up. The final track, "Vigil", is a very important song not just for the album but for the band's musical development. It starts off sounding like it's going to be a ballad and explodes into typical Lamb of God style. It builds until the end, and is probably the best constructed song on the album, ending it perfectly.
Overall, this isn't as accessible as Ashes of the Wake, not as raw as the Burn the Priest album, and is very solid all-around.

5 out of 5 stars The heavens are telling.......2005-10-21

This is a very great chorus, and one of Haydn's best as far as i am concerned. The pace, grandness and spirit of the piece all conjure in one's imagination the majesty of heaven, and God's throne. I cannot help but be moved to praise the God of the heavens and the earth.

5 out of 5 stars Uncle Abe rattles the house with this thing.......2004-11-22

I came home from work one day when my uncle was visiting my wife and myself. He was recently retired from the ministry. He had heard a lot of choral music in his life. My aunt said he had the stereo ( power end of my stereo at the time was an Adcomm 555 amp. conservatively rated at 200 watts RMS per channel) up so loud it was rattling the whole house. I too have come to love this music. I mostly listen to rock and roll; but the way my uncle, and now I, play this thing, it is rock and roll from another era!!!

5 out of 5 stars Sir Robert with ASO and Chorus at their Best!.......2003-11-16

After Mr Shaw spent many years in NYC and Cleveland with RCA Red Label,he came into Atlanta for a big change! Soon he switched to TELARC DIGITAL! I still Joyfully remember our Recording of the Christmas Nativity in Dec of 1975! Sir Robert, conducting with earphones encasing his head shouted: "Stop the taping, there is some Darn Sizzling noise in those Lights!" We may have not heard the word "Damn" lights, that he employed at times!

On both this newer release of TELARC and the older Recording of The Christmas Nativity, there are Bach's Chorale, Break Forth, Dona Nobis Pacem from the B-Minor Mass, Handel's Hallelujah! Plus the exquisite, Shepherds's Farewell to the Holy Family of Berlioz's The Infant Christ!

Those who may not be familiar with Berlioz from both recordings, will be richly rewarded by hearing them plus the Rex Tremendae from Berlioz''s Requiem and the other Kyrie from the Bach B-Minor! Absolutely, no other Christmas Music can ever approach these two splendid recordings, which are the basis of the ASO celebrating every Christmas with "Robert Shaw in the Spirit!"

No matter what mood you are in, the gorgeous chorals will draft you through the paths of holiness, and you will find yourself situated in the Elysium, land of eternal joy, yet you are far from dead. The past grief, weariness, and worries will fade and torture your soul no more. You are set free.

Unfortunately, Nobody can be told what this heavenly experience is like. You have to listen to it yourself.

Beyond this recording's new age packaging and title is a splendid sampling of some of the world's finest choral music, sung by one of the world's outstanding choirs. This "anthology of sacred choral music" spans 400 years and includes such masterpieces as Allegri's Miserere, Bach's "Jesu, joy of man's desiring," and Barber's exquisite Agnus Dei, which is the composer's choral setting of his famous Adagio for Strings. Along the way we also hear Mozart's sublime "Ave verum corpus," Elgar's "Lux aeterna," and the Kyrie from Palestrina's Missa Papae Marcelli. There has been a choir at England's New College, Oxford, since the year 1379, and this impressive line of experience shows in the intelligent, unfaltering, and finely polished performances by today's ensemble of 16 boys and 12 adults. --David Vernier

5 out of 5 stars Wow!.......2006-07-08

I'm a long-time listener of all things rock-'n-roll, from Classic rock, to Alternative, and even a little Metal. I first heard this CD while having dinner at a friends house a long time ago, and I loved it. I've always been enchanted with choir music, so I bought this CD. Well, after years of listening to it to help me to unwind in the evening, I somehow misplaced it. So I came to Amazon to order both I and II. Of the two CD's, the first one is still the best, and it still helps me to relax after a long day. The choir show tremendous range in their singing, the assorted instruments are well-played, and I can almost imagine myself sitting in a centuries-old cathedral, enjoying the music and how it rings throughout the cathedral.

Buy it. You won't be disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars Profound sublimity.......2006-02-27

This album offers music that is profoundly moving and sumbline. It takes the listener onto an inner journal of extraordinary emotional depths and heights

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful music.......2006-01-18

The first song I've heard on this CD is "Miserere Mei..." and I loved it the first minute. I've heard it from a friend who likes classical, and I would've never bought this on my own.

All other versions of these songs I've heard since don't compare to the versions on this CD. Maybe because it was my first listen, maybe they're just good.

This sampler album of excerpts from seven other Anonymous 4 releases is a good introduction for anyone who is unacquainted with the A4's startlingly pure singing and virtually celestial blend. But if you fall under the spell of this outstanding a capella quartet, the present disc will become extraneous because you'll want to own the complete recordings from which it's drawn. If you prefer complete works to samplers, try taking the plunge with "An English Ladymass" or "On Yoolis Night." --Sarah Bryan Miller

5 out of 5 stars If Angels Ever Recorded A CD.......2006-03-16

Four female voices have never blended together so perfectly and beautifully as do those of the 'Anonymous 4.' Their CD titled, 'Portrait' contains a selection of tracks from seven other previous CD's, kind of a "Best Of" you might say.

If angels ever came down from heaven to record a CD this is what they would sound like.

Harmonious, Celestial, Purifying and Eternal.

5 out of 5 stars another exquisite performance.......2006-02-27

This amazing quartette is so talented. The Christmas cd reminds me of Christmas 50 years ago in rural England where I grew up. It contains the only rendition of The Holly and the Ivy I have heard that actually does the carol justice.

5 out of 5 stars Anonymous, but in no way generic.......2001-02-04

I learned about this quartet though a review in Stereophile magazine. Although they don't publish a lot of reviews, I've had exceptionally good luck with their past picks and have been able to branch out successfully in new musical directions as a result.

These four women are virtuoso female vocalists, hauntingly pure of voice. They perform music from centuries ago in the same type of setting that it was originally performed in, with stunning results. I'm generally not one for "religious" material (this is the first recording of this nature I've ever bought), but this music goes so far back in time that it sounds more primal than Christian overall.

A refreshing change when you're in the right mood, and something that can relax even you type A personalities out there (and you *know* who you are :) , I can suggest this one without reserve. You'll be adding a nice, quiet corner to your collection, and you'll probably wind up visiting it more than you ever imagined.

5 out of 5 stars This is awesome!.......2002-12-13

I love this bos set, especially the second one Edelweiss is simply great, it's filled with passion and truly shows the beauty of music. But if you had already bought Ave Maria and Edelweiss please don't buy this one, they are the same, this CD is just perfect!

5 out of 5 stars Awesome CD!!.......2002-06-07

Wow...That was my first word when I listend to this CD.

I like classical numbers more than like traditional songs of
other countries, so the 1st one was wonderful
(Of course as well as the second one.)

When you want to relax, you may choose the 1st one, but
if you want to be excited, choose 2nd one!!

You will feel as if you were out of this world.

5 out of 5 stars I absolutely LOVE this!.......2002-02-20

When I received this album, I found that it was much, much more than I had expected. The angelic, pure, innocent yet DEFINED voices of these boys add the spark to your day. (at least to mine!)

The first CD is absolutely beautiful choral music which is really relaxing. I DO prefer boys' singing to adults, because it just sounds so much better.
When I bought the CD, I wasn't expecting much out of the second CD because I bought it for the first CD's sake, but the second CD turned out to be my real favorite.
Not that I don't adore the first one, but the second one is SO IRRESISTABLY CUTE!! whenever I listen to it, I keep on smiling and going "awww. isn't this cute!"
It is REALLY sweet and fun to listen to. I just LOVE this CDs and want to give 10 stars out of 5, but obviously there are limitations, so..

Well, if you like choral music, you won't regret getting this one.

5 out of 5 stars Vienna Boys do it again.......2001-08-18

Their performance is just superb. If you like classical music. I find this elevating my spirits.

4 out of 5 stars Wow.......2000-09-06

What can really be said about this two CD set except "Wow." The tone quality and emotion contained in the music is incredible, and I don't think there's another boys' choir out there who can match it. The rendition of Schubert's "Ave Maria" alone is worth buying the CD. Amazing. Between the two CD's there is a great variety of music as well, ranging from the soft, sad "Locus Iste," to Johann Strauss' polkas. There is a piece for every mood. These CDs are more than worth the money and rank among the favorites in my collection.
