Product Description
Fresh from supporting John Digweed in the US on yet another tour with Bedrock's head honcho, Luke Fair drops his first ever-devoted mix album and the third in the Original Series. Luke distinguishes himself from the 2 mixes that go before in all but the quality of those mixes and the way in which they define the unique qualities of the DJ that put the album together. OS.03 employs all Luke Fair's production talent in re-editing tracks and mixes to evoke his familiar jackin', raw and ‘live' sound that has rocked the dance floors from Buenos Aires to Bedrock London, Singapore to Space in Miami and now looks ready to go even further beyond!

At the forefront of Canada's growing dance scene and increasingly making his presence felt on the world scene, is Luke Fair. He's performed at some of the most prestigious venues and events in the world, offering club goers a taste of his funky - techy eclectic house sound each and every weekend. His sets include everything from groovy house and techno to funky progressive and electro. Constantly re-editing tracks to customize his sets; Luke's ongoing desire to make every set stand out from the others is crystal clear.

His production skill can be keenly felt in the twists and tweaks he applies to tracks for the benefit of his DJing, all giving a raw and rocking edge that situates Luke at the top of the tree in this nu wave of electronic music lovers pushing back the boundaries in with both their DJ and production talent. A worthy addition to the Original Series!

1 out of 5 stars 14:59 and counting..........2006-03-02

I'm somewhat confused as to how this current "retro-techno-electro-disco" band wagon morass can be considererd "forward-thinking" EDM??? The last time I checked, retro meant the opposite of forward.

I "cut my teeth" on those types of "old skool" genres several years ago and while they were fun, inspiring and sounded daringly original at the time, they now come off as hollow, dated, and ultimately insipid. Sadly, it seems as if everyone is out of ideas these days whether it be in the mediums of music, film, literature and the like.

With this, his contribution to the OS compilations (from Bedrock, no less), Fair attempts far too many mood, key and tempo changes and the mix skids off the decks as a result.

I'm awaiting the return of house music which offers the listener a bit more "mind-candy" and which features depth, atmosphere and more highly stylized production values. It was a sad day, indeed, when the DJs traded their bongos for Casios...

5 out of 5 stars Funky, Rivetting Electro-infused Prog House.......2005-11-23

Based on the strength of the previous 2 "O.S" (Original Series) releases off the Bedrock label, I pre-ordered this CD before its official release. When this CD was delivered to me and I had a first listen, my "gamble" was rewarded and I was instantly captivated.

Luke Fair goes straight for the jugular, starting with Sebastien Leger's lively, funky "Mooguno". He then takes the listener on a musical journey filled with warmth, melody and joy. It's all very seamlessly woven together with dance tracks that are both listenable and danceable, and always with a sense of urgency and purpose from one track to the next.

Despite being a rather young DJ (that's what John Digweed says in the liner notes), Luke Fair possesses a master's touch. And there is a certain ol' skool flavour to it all, as if he is paying tribute to dance music's disco/electro past, while at the same time tying this heritage to the future of prog house.

Kudos to John Digweed for championing talented DJ/musicians like him. Can't wait to hear more from this "O.S" series!

5 out of 5 stars funk, dance, progressive come to mind.......2005-08-24

What a flow Luke creates with this mix. Sounds like digweed might of had something to do with it. Songs 3 thru 7 had me moving the whole time. This mix seriously shines among one of the best dance albums I have heard. Mixing anthems with funky beats and even breaking the bass out in one of the songs. Best songs on the cd are by far "Bulldog Beats", "When in Rome" and of course the best song "Xristophan" (a masiello and fair mix). YOu will bob your shoulders the whole way through, similar to digweed. If you like digweed or have heard any of the original series and enjoy this type of music, purchase this album now before it disappears.

4 out of 5 stars Luke Fair OS 3 Review.......2005-08-13
