Amazon.com essential recording
By the time Orbital released its fourth album, the Hartnoll brothers were strongly tipped as techno heavyweights alongside more commercially palatable prospects like Underworld and Prodigy. Yet, instead of catering to the curious, they presented their most self-indulgent album to date with In Sides. Packaging the 24-minute symphonic track "Out There Somewhere?" with the loopy psychedelic flight of "P.E.T.R.O.L.," they created a most unusual and intriguing collection. Despite their best efforts, though, "The Box" still packed the same insistent rhythm that made "Belfast" such an indelible club staple, while a bonus disc featured live versions of "Satan," "Halcyon," and the duo's streamlined themes from The Saint. --Aidin Vaziri

Vitamins for your ears!!.......2006-05-22
This is so welcome it's unbelievable. These B-sides were scattered all over the place (literally) amongst my vinyl collection. Great to have them in one place. Really showcases their creativity and their experimental side, which set them apart from their peers, and was always their greatest strength. Nice graphics, too. This and the Peel sessions disc are fantastic. Now we just need a dvd of EARLY OMD consisting of TOTP, OGWT, promotional clips, etc. (Pre-Crush). Hello, record companiies??
Brand New Old OMD Music.......2003-12-18
I have been an avid fan of Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark for 20+ years, and thought I had heard everything. Since there is so many rare releases on the recording, when I heard this CD for the first time, it was like listening to a brand new OMD cd from the early 80's. Fantastic!! I especially like Concrete Hands and Navigation.
Brilliant must-have for OMD fans.......2003-09-10
The B-Sides covers their entire career but I think it gives an especially good representation of early OMD. Absolutely stunning music on this collection for fans of the period techno. It went straight into my listening rotation as soon as I got it two months ago and has been there ever since.
I Like It a Lot!.......2003-04-09
I like this one a lot. I'm more of a fan of their lesser-known music anyway.
Get it while you can!.......2002-09-26
I've been a serious OMD fan for nearly 15 years now, and their music never tires, bores or gets old to me. OMD comes from a time in music when it was worthwhile for the fan to purchase singles. OMD was notorious for leaving excellent songs off their albums, so I was never disappointed. I was always delighted to discover a new beautiful piece of OMD hiding, playing hard to get. I've collected OMD flip sides (through my own research and through well-intentioned friends) on square shaped records, 45's and 33's, tapes and 3 inch CDs! Trying to take those songs for a car ride always presented a challenge and never sounded as good.
Thanks to all who have listened to the fans' requests for producing this collection because now I have some of my favorite songs in one place, in one well-made collection that can go with me anywhere! Songs like "4-Neu", "Sacred Heart" and "Navigation" exemplify OMD's ability to make sweet, beautiful and almost surreal music. These songs are a good example of why I've loved OMD for this long and will continue to do so until my dying day. "Garden City", "The Avenue", "Firegun", "This Town", "Gravity Never Failed", "Burning" and all the rest... these are all fantastic songs that poor deprived OMD fans have got to hear!! If you love what OMD does for music, then you will love this album. It is a MUST BUY for anyone who calls himself an OMD fan.
In my humble opinion, there isn't enough OMD in this world, and at the same time, their B-sides are so much harder to get nowadays compared to when I built up most of my collection. Really now... how many fans can say they've seen and own "Crush -- the Movie", an OMD documentary? I only have it because I was at the right place at the right time.
The record companies need to dust off their copies of OMD songs and videos and share with the rest of us already, make it more easily accessible! ...
Anyway, I love this collection. I recommend it. Go for it!!

Out There Somewhere Part 2.......2007-04-07
My most played Orbital album to date. Thats not to say that it is the most complete Orbital. I would probably rate Snivilization and Orbital 2 as more complete albums. My main gripe is possibly the length of the album and the lack of memorable tracks.
However, with that said, I will say this... Out There Somewhere Part 2 is quite possibly the best track Orbital has produced to date. An amazing ending to the album with interlaced loops that work perfectly. The last 5 and a half minutes to the track are Orbital at their best. Oddly enough it sits in one of my least favorite Orbital albums. The track along with Adnan's and the Box part 2 simply saves the album from sub-par status. The bonus CD is not memorable.
Should you buy the album, yes but simply for the above mentioned tracks (In my opinion they are worth it). If you want to hear Orbital on all cylindars, listen to Track 8, you won't be disappointed.
In addition, it is worth mentioning that the earlier versions of the album came with a 28 minute version of the Box on the bonus CD. Great track, good luck locating that rare bonus CD.
Simply the best.......2007-03-01
With In-Sides Orbital proved that they matured as a band... From catchy loops and experimenting with synth just for the sake of experimenting they grew to the point that they were able to express themselves musicaly. One hint is that In-Sides contains longer duration pieces, like somehow Orbital got tired with haiku music and wanted to prove that they can compose, start and finish a comprehensive track. Never before or after Orbital was able to achieve that perfect balance between form and substance. Needless to say this is my favorite album, not only of Orbital but of all techno/electronica artists. It is simply more musical than mechanical which is seldom a case with techno music...
It's OK.......2007-01-03
This is the best Orbital album. I used to like them, but now realize I don't really like them anymore. Good everyso often, but my tastes have changed.
Everyone talks about The Box, but for my money... .......2006-12-01
'Adnan's' alone is worth more than whatever this CD is selling for. Of course as a bonus you can have The Box, and the 2nd/bonus disc too! Pure hypnotic genius. A must have!

The term Irish tenor may be fraught with as many wrong-headed, anachronistic characterizations as any phrase in music. But Ronan Tynan not only returns here to the PBS airwaves that helped spread his fame as a member of the Irish Tenors trio, but he overturns a few clichés while delivering a live concert (recorded at the Royal Dublin Society in June 2002) that encompasses everything from Broadway and pop chestnuts to Italian operatic repertoire. Tynan rewards Irish traditions old and new (a medley of Brian Kennedy's and U2's "Life, Love & Happiness"/"I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For") and even makes left turns into folkie songstress territory (Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now," Sarah McLachlan's "Angel"). Backed by RTE Orchestra, the unlikely international star invests himself completely in all of it, his strong, crystalline voice playing off the traditions, while forging strong new bonds with the contemporary. --Jerry McCulley
Customer Reviews:
Simply Wonderful.......2005-08-29
This CD is just as great as the more recent "Ronan" CD. I clicked on 3 stars in error. This is a 5++ star album! His voice is sheer perfection, and the songs are wonderful. I also highly recommend the DVD of "The Impossible Dream," even though I didn't care at all for the London Community Choir who sing four songs. Note: The American version of the DVD doesn't have the 25-minute "Dr. Courageous" extra on it that the Irish version does. I saw him in concert last month, and besides having a voice that soars to the rafters, he is warm, funny and endearing.
Music like this could make me a convert.......2005-08-17
I've always been a rock and roll fan since back in the 60's. Listening to this cd could easily convert me into a classical music fan as well. Wow what a voice.
Powerful!.......2003-01-22
Having seen Ronan in person recently in the U.S., I was impressed first and foremost by his singing ability, and second by his stage presence and warmth. He is a special performer and human being. I am proud to be a Ronan Tynan fan.
Tenor terrific.......2003-01-18
I am not a fan of this kind of music, but I bought this after hearing a few sound snippets at amazon and WoW! what a find. Excellent song selection, powerful singing, fine music quality for a live recording. Expand your horizons and enjoy. (get this wayno)
oh molly oh.......2002-12-15
ronan tynan is a great role model for adults and children alike. he was born with a deformity and made a decision he would make something of himself, he had a goal and he surpassed it. no one puts as much of their heart into as he. he puts the audience into his songs, he makes us feel he is singing to each one of us individually. HE IS THE GREATEST IRISH TENOR I HAVE EVER HEARD, INCLUDING JOHN MC CORMAC the great irish tenor of the 30's

Album Description
Set amid the chaos of pre-revolutionary China, small time thief, Sing, aspires to be one of the sophisticated and ruthless Axe Gang whose underworld activities overshadow the city. Stumbling across a crowded apartment complex aptly known as "Pig Sty Alley," Sing attempts to extort money from one of the ordinary locals, but the neighbors are not what they appear. Sing's comical attempts at intimidation inadvertently attract the Axe Gang into the fray, setting off a chain of events that brings the two disparate worlds face-to-face.
The exotic original score by Raymond Wong is complemented by the film's classical pieces, notably Sarasate's acclaimed "Zigeunerweisen" and Khachaturian's famous "Sabre Dance."
Customer Reviews:
What about the dialogue?.......2006-04-08
I have a question about the dialogue on this CD... is it interspersed on separate tracks between songs, or do they talk during the songs?
Loved it!!!.......2005-10-21
As a Chinese, I love this soundtrack and the movie very much! There is no more I can say. However, it's a good soundtrack and I love it very much.
great CD, but incomplete..........2005-09-20
This is the soundtrack released to the U.S. Just so you know, the soundtrack sold in Asia features a few more songs. Most notably missing is a song preformed by Huang Sheng Yi, called "Zhi Yao Wei Ni Huo Yi Tian" which comes toward the end of the movie. It might be my favorite song in the movie, and it's too bad it's missing from the U.S. soundtrack.
Fantastic Soundtrack.......2005-08-20
If you have seen this unbelievable movie, then you know how incredible the music is. It matches the mood of the movie and everything the previous reviewer said I agree with. It has great sweeping scores with an extremely cool "oriental/chinese" sound and presence to it. I mostly bought it for a few cool songs I fell in love with when I saw the movie and the whole album is great. You will recognize a few of the songs used in a lot of other chop socky/martial arts movies and you'll really enjoy having them along with all the other great music on this soundtrack and it goes without saying, but if you haven't seen or bought this movie yet, get it. We need to encourage Stephen Chow and support him in his endeavors to make more great movies instead of the same old rehashed formulaic, cookie cutter, boring(need I go on?)"Hollywood Entertainment" fare.
There comes a time when you find a soundtrack that's..........2005-06-14
...Absolutely perfect!
As a collector of various movie soundtracks, there are many times when I am utterly dismayed by how unrelated they are to the movies they are supposed to complement.
The Kung Fu Hustle CD, however, is far from any of that! I watched this movie four times in the theater, and every time, the music just mesmerized me from start to finish! The movie was great, and the music was even better!
I quickly ordered the soundtrack from Amazon.com, and when it arrived, I was far from disappointed. This CD is fantastic! It does not leave anything out. What you hear in the movie is what you hear in the CD from beginning to end. The tracks are even in order of which they appear in the movie!
If you enjoyed Kung Fu Hustle, then the soundtrack is definitely for you. Go forth! Purchase the soundtrack, and prepare to be pleasantly entertained by the delightful music!

I picked this CD up at a local store mainly because I am a huge Woodie fan, but I must say that I got more than I bargained for with this purchase. From start to finish this is a solid disc and a must have for any Bay Area rap fans, and an essential for any Woodie fan. Great production, great flows, too much talent for just one CD. I hope Woodie and A-Wax decide to do another collab together.
Pick this up, even if you are hesitant about it. It's sure to become a classic.

Having tired of the current pop music scene, I was looking for an new genre of music to adopt. I was introduced to the Gourd label when someone gave me a copy of Tree of Life as a Christmas present around 1992. To me it was a musical revelation. It was acoustic, it was folk, it was classical, and it was hip all at the same time. I purchased Autumn in the Valley and to this day it is one of my favorites. It is an exquisite listening experience. I didn't stop there, though. I have since bought nearly every cd on the Gourd label and will continue to buy their products. It is the quintessential contemplative, quiet-time music. It always puts me into a beautiful place.Buy this cd and you'll be sure to buy more...
