A Loop in Time Wally Brill Track is Awesome.......2004-10-23
I first heard Wally Brill track online at Soma FM, and was captivated by the sound. Very neat beat, even my girlfriend who isn't much into the modern electronic music thinks its one of the coolest songs she's ever heard. I'm buying hte album, thats all there is to it.
Excellent.......2002-04-09
Guys, this CD is awesome. It has so many different rhythms on just one CD that you can listen to it for dancing, gathering with your friends or just relaxation. It has a little bit of everything from all around the world. i hardly recommend it. It's a great buy.
No frills chill.......2000-09-15
This album sends out a chilling reminder to the great pretenders who have jumped onto the chill-out wagon.
Perfect selection of soft melodious tracks that harmonise with Claude's seamless mixing. Salut! For this set based on very laid-back vibes.
Whether you are longing for a mellow night-in or a chill-out session after a hard night-out, miss this album at your expense!
Nice introduction to artists you might not normally hear.......2000-08-04
This came highly recommended by friends who live in Paris. The 2-CD set comes in "dinner" and "party" sets which led me to believe that one set was faster or more dance-oriented than the other, but they are surprisingly similar. Very soothing and mostly eastern/asian-influenced rhythms that are great as Sunday morning background music as you read the paper, or at an intimate dinner party, or even for background music at a cocktail party. I think it would appeal to a wide range of tastes and ages. I have no idea how this compilation compares to the Buddha-bar I mix.

Paris's glitzy nightspot Buddha Bar is best known for its signature ambient environments, which are available in elaborately packaged, pricey, and popular CD compilations. This offering consists of two sections: "Buddha's Dinner," which is designed to accompany a deluxe dining experience, and "Buddha's Party," which is more groove-oriented. Although the selections are inspired by and built upon traditional music, mostly from Asia and South America, fans of club-oriented world music are advised to check out edgier electronica by Cheb I Sabbah, TransGlobal Underground, and Aisha Kandisha. But those who adore the likes of Deep Forest and Enigma will contentedly chill to these tracks. --Christina Roden

One of the best.......2005-06-23
This is another great chillout mood CD by Claude Challe. One can easily admit that he is very successful in mixing this type of music. In fact just to listen other Buddha-Bar compilations (III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII)shows that, after he left Buddha-Bar series were never the same. This album is really cool. But I think his masterpiece, Buddha Bar II, is even better.
The guys who did not like the album are really not into chillout and electronic stuff. I even read a review from some guy who went further to admit that this is an insult to Buddha himself. C'mon man nobody listens this music or visit Buddha Bar just to reach Nirvana. Please donate generously to Hare Krishnas or serve in one of their temples to purify your soul. We're here to listen to the best Oriental Tunes for Western ears.
By the way this compilation is one of Claude Challe's carefully picked and inter-mixed tracks and don't forget his other albums:
Les Bains des Douches, Loverdose, Sun, Flying Carpet, Happiness,
Buddha-Bar, Buddha-Bar II, Nirvana Lounge, Nirvana Lounge II, Nirvana Lounge III, Je Nous Aime, Emmanuelle and yes the price tags are way too high!!!
One more word about Zeave Ben's track "What Will Be" it is an adaptation from Gipsy Kings which is later adapted by Turkish Singer Tarkan who released this song under title "Vazgecemem" back in 1993 (He is famous for "Kiss Kiss" which is another hit from him.)
IMPORTANT.......2003-11-25
the buddha-bar earns much of its profits from its series of restaurants around the world. I strongly urge all those who hold respect and admiration towards The Buddha to avoid purchasing any buddha-bar music or paying visits to any of its restaurants. Many aspects of the restaurants ridicule and humiliate the Buddha- for instance the buttocks of the buddha is used as a fountain to pour drinks. To all those who respect the Buddhist philosophy, refrain from investing your money in this awfully disrespectful and humiliating group. Many buddhist countries have expressed their disgust at certain aspects this buddha-bar uses in its humiliation of the Buddha.
The Solid Debut of the Buddha-Bar Series........2003-04-13
This is the debut entry of the "Buudha-Bar" series, and considering that it was released back in 1999, the material still sounds remarkably fresh. A co-worker of mine recommended the Buddha-Bar series since she knows I'm really into downtempo music with a touch of Eastern flavor. When I approached this set, the first thing that grabbed me was the rather steep pricetag, which seems to be putting off quite a few listeners. But the deal is this: "Buddha-Bar" is recommended depending on who you are. If you're a casual listener who buys maybe 3-5 CDs a year, then this may not be a wise purchase. However, if you're a music lover who has an extensive and diverse range of genres in your collection, then I don't see how forking out the extra cash should be that big a deal. The fact is: the material on this album is very good. In this handsomely-packaged collection, we have two discs: "Buddha's Dinner" and "Buddha's Party." The stronger of these two discs is definitely the "Dinner" one, which has mellowed-out tracks that really give off a sense of calm. My favorite track has to be the lovely "What Will I Be" by Zeave Ben. It's one of those tunes that stayed imprinted in my head because the song is so distinct and beautifully arranged. The "Party" disc has slightly less of an Eastern vibe, but has a fair amount of really good dance tunes that are decent enough for any party. The main attractions here are the Eurodisco bounce of So Emotional, who does a cover of the hit "All By Myself" as well as Byron Stingily's "Flying High," which gets a Brazilian makeover by DJs Masters at Work. While not quite flawless, I'm overall pleased with "Buddha-Bar," and I hope to explore other volumes of this fine series.
Don't waste your money.......2003-01-29
This is an overpriced compilation of mediocre-at-best tunes. This is another of those promising-looking collections that crashes to the ground when you actually hear it. If you are looking for exceptional attitude-drenched French lounge music - go for the Hotel Costes collections... If you want outstanding smooth nouveau jazz buy anything from De Phazz
Total disappointment.......2003-01-02
Should've bought something else instead...
I found only one track that was awesome, the rest was just OK, I could live without it.
