Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Best of Darrell.......2000-10-18

I have been listening to Darrel since he was managed by Hubert Long in the sixties. This CD is the best. I have listened to it more in my car than any other cd I own. It never gets old or stale. Darrell's strong voice is as good as it ever was. Get this CD back on the market; I'd like to buy a few copies as presents.

3 out of 5 stars Good voice, some week songs.......1999-07-13

Darrell has fantastic & strong voice & sings superb country music, but like the dinosaur Darrell needs to update his material and his merchandising effort. He may prefer, or feel comfortable with the songs that he has chosen, but, unfortunately, he has not changed in music in 20 years. Lilly Dale, Down the Road to Daddy's Dreams were stong lyrics (& he had Willie on Lilly when Willie was at his peak). As a staunch fan, I would like to see Darrell diversify some and permote. In other words, if you live in Texas and don't speak Spanish, all the Tejano music sounds the same. So it is with Darrell's music. It may be pure country, but it don't sale and Darrell's fans are cheated out of hearing a real singer on a regular basis. The talent is present. The song selection and marketing and merchandising effort has never been present.
