"I'm gonna sing mostly new songs tonight," Neil Young tells the rapt Massey Hall audience, "...I've written so many new ones that I can't think of anything else to do with them other than sing 'em." He steps to the mic unadorned, distant from CSNY's rippled harmonies or Crazy Horse's yowl, hypnotically nailing 17 tracks on this unreleased 1971 solo set. You hear him tower at vocal heights on the chorus for "Old Man" (then a debuted, brand-new song) and name-check Canada on "Journey to the Past" and North Ontario on "Helpless," much to the Toronto crowd's delight. The sound is impeccable, and the closeness to Young in this spare setting exhilarates--especially his vocal quavering in the high registers, his intricate guitar work, and an overall vibe that exceeds description. And the DVD: Here you catch Young in tightly framed, starkly-lit shots, flourishing in the early years of an unparalleled rock career. Not only that, you get commentary from 1997, a rare window on how Young thinks, how he speaks, his humor. --Andrew Bartlett

Album Description

One of the greatest singer-songwriters of the rock era. Solo. Acoustic. January 19, 1971. Live At Massey Hall, the legendary concert from Neil Young, is finally officially released, and in highresolution stereo, in this CD+DVD package (also as a solo CD). The acclaimed Toronto performance features classics "Old Man" and, in a suite, "A Man Needs A Maid" and "Heart Of Gold" (before they were recorded for Harvest) along with some of his most popular songs ("Cowgirl In The Sand," "Ohio") as well as the most obscure ("Bad Fog Of Loneliness"). Live At Massey Hall is a newly mined rock gem.

3 out of 5 stars Neil - what's the deal?.......2007-06-24

Here's the skinny on the DVD: The extra features, such as a clip from Neil performing 2 songs on "the Johnny Cash show" and the footage of Neil on his ranch with the hired hand that inspired the song "Old Man", are pretty cool. But I began to notice subtle differnces in the audio and the video (very subtle - but they're there). Then it hit me: The video is NOT the same performance as the audio track. That's why there is no video footage of the portions where Neil is speaking to the audience and on quite a few of the songs as well. The video of this Massey Hall show doesn't exist.
This is what I would expect from a bootleg. Why Neil Young feels the need to market a con such as these (see the reviews on the Filmore East show) is beyond me. But I still love him...

5 out of 5 stars CD GREAT-DVD, FORGET IT.......2007-06-18

Short, sweet and to the point. The concert at Massey Hall is a Neil Young acoustical classic. A lot of songs that were new at the time and have since become classics along with a few old favorites.

Unless you just have to have everything by Neil Young, just get the CD - you can live without the DVD. Out of 68 minutes, a repeat of the CD, you get - if you're lucky, maybe 20 minutes of poorly photographed concert footage. And what's the remainder? If you're stoned and really get your jollies in watching a film of tape recorder taping the concert, you'll truly enjoy the DVD. Yep, that's the bulk of the DVD - a tape recorder recording the concert with Neil singing in the background. And from the looks of the surroundings, the tape recorder isn't even at Massey Hall, but probably somewhere else.

A truly great CD which belongs in the collection of every Neil Young fan. You can live without the DVD and not miss a thing. Take the money you'll save by purchasing just the CD sans DVD and buy another Neil Young album.

4 out of 5 stars Poor quality video, excellent audio.......2007-06-15

I bought the CD/DVD combination, because I was interested in seeing the concert. Unfortunately, the video quality is spotty and for some of the songs there is no video at all, just a view of some instruments.

The audio quality is fine, and Neil sounds so young! It's a joy to listen to...Enjoy.

4 out of 5 stars CD pefection, DVD rejection.......2007-06-14

Ok, so maybe the DVD isn't a complete reject. The footage of Neil at his ranch and that of the "Old Man" is just fabulous. Also, Neil on stage in that wonderful flannel shirt is precious. That being said, I can only watch a reel to reel tape recorder spinning around for just so long. Talk about space filling!
The CD part of this duo, however, is some of the finest early Neil available. I have a ton of bootleg LPs and nothing comes close to this. The sound quality and play list is outstanding. It's a real gem. Too bad that the packaging is so poor. The cheap cardboard sleeve will no doubt scratch the discs. Inside is a fragment of a newspaper review of the concert (man, I wish I had a time machine!) which the designers of this
CD/DVD package felt we would not be interest in reading. That's a shame.

5 out of 5 stars Tearfull Reunion.......2007-06-08

Just a great live performance that brought tears to my eyes. I recommend this CD to any Neil Young fans and also to those who may be too young to remember his past greatness. Sit back....light one up and bask in the music...Peace

5 out of 5 stars Classic Neil in his Prime!.......2007-06-03

Whether you are a Neil Young fan or not, this is a 'must hear' live recording for anyone who loves great folk music! The lyrics and melodies are both pensive and mirthful, taking you back to a simpler time when life and love was easier to contemplate. Neil's trademark stiletto-falsetto-like voice was beginning to peak, piercing your heart gently with melancholic honesty and sincerity. I have been a fan of his most of my life and, although I have enjoyed hearing Neil's later albums and how his talent has evolved through the years, (IMHO) nothing compares to his solo seventies creations! Thanks, Neil, for reminding us once again how music can touch our soul and be a soothing constant in this mad, erratic world.

5 out of 5 stars An Intimate Experience With Neil Young Live.......2007-05-27

The Cd opens to the sound of applause. The first song, "On The Way Home" sets the tone for the following 16 songs. Being a huge Neil Young fan, this is the CD you don't want to miss. When he introduces his "new" songs like "Old Man," I get chills. Amazing vocals combined with an adoring live audience, makes this an intimate listening experience that is beyond awesome. If I couldn't be there, this is the next best thing. He finishes the set with a humble rendition of, "I am a Child." His voice is sweet & sincere and takes me back to another time, the senenties. Also, having my own child now, I found the lyrics particularly profound. If you love Young, you'll love this CD.

5 out of 5 stars perfect.......2007-05-27

Beautiful music by Neil Young. Simple and complex at the same time. Perfect.

5 out of 5 stars Real.......2007-05-14

This is probably one of the most honest and true live recordings in my collection; just Neil with guitar and piano. The performance is top notch, and the sound just soars; perfect blend! Some real highlights are the piano performance of "Heart of Gold", the soft and mysterious "Old Man" and of course, the first two tracks, which reach back to where Neil came from with Buffalo Springfield, and where he "currently" was during the After The Goldrush album. The album is a great bridge between the electric Neil and the Harvest sound he'd record later in the year.

5 out of 5 stars Classic.......2007-05-07

Excellent album; sound quality is great, musicianship is solid as always. Looking forward to hearing many more early Neil Young live albums as they are released from the vault.

Every year sees a crop of newly found jazz gems, but rarely are listeners treated to anything as special as this 1957 concert recording of Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane, which was accidentally discovered in an unmarked box by a Library of Congress engineer early in 2005. Until now, fans could only dream of hearing these two immortals play together beyond the three studio tracks they left behind. But here they are, hitting their stride at an all-star benefit concert, basking in the chemistry they had developed in Monk's quartet during the preceding weeks at New York's Five Spot. Coltrane's playing is a revelation. He's both an inspired accompanist and a galvanizing soloist, taking the music to new heights with his bold, brilliantly challenging, and sometimes jaw-dropping phrases, note clusters, and blasts of power. Sharing with Coltrane a newfound sense of freedom following the personal and professional troubles that had plagued them both, Monk is clearly tickled to be in the tenorist's presence, injecting humorous commentaries and otherwise asserting his eccentric genius as a pianist. The material, which was very well recorded by the Voice of America, includes Monk classics like "Epistrophy," "Monk's Moods," and "Evidence," as well as a striking rendition of the standard "Sweet and Lovely." This is music that not only bears repeated listenings, but also demands them--the ultimate definition of a classic. --Lloyd Sachs

5 out of 5 stars essential to your jazz collection, period.......2007-05-30

I can't believe this sat in a box and the library of congress all this time! It makes me wonder what other gems they got in deep freeze. Thank Jeezy they found it. I love listening to this when I drive around town with the windows down on a summer night. Good, good, good. Hear it, love it, get it.

5 out of 5 stars Thelonious Monk Quarted with John colgrane at Carnegie Hall.......2007-05-29

This recording, unearthed after nearly fifty years on old tapes found at the Library of Congress, is a national treasure that speaks to all of us, after two generations. Surely this marks the work as art in its most universal sense: something with permanence, that will (I hope) last through the ages. I understand from a little research that Billy Holiday participated in this same concert, and regret that that recording has been lost! But this one, in my opinion, gets five stars.

4 out of 5 stars Very Nice.......2007-05-25

I've got a small but impressive jazz library, jazz has been a recent addition to my musical tastes. I'm not the biggest Coltrane fan, I prefer Cannonball Adderly and some others less inclined to go wailing away. I do not like Coltrane's A Love Supreme. Monk and Coltrane team up here with a very enjoyable performance. Excellent for background music or dedicated listening. The fidelity is superb, very high quality. Only negative is it's mono. Jazz fans will love this.

5 out of 5 stars Pure.......2007-05-20

It's funny what people find when they clean out closets. The people at Carngie Hall found a jewel and something unique and pure. A great addition to any jazz aficionado's collection. In reality a must have if you like jazz at all.

Hall and Oates often enlivened '70s and '80s radio with sharp pop concoctions that drew on a wellspring of R&B influences picked up in their hometown of Philadelphia. They scored frequently enough, in fact, that this 20-track collection--intended to supplement or replace the earlier Rock 'n Soul, Part 1 with post-'83 winners--doesn't capture all their finest moments. (Where, for instance, are "She's Gone," recorded for another label but licensed by RCA for Rock 'n' Soul, and the terrific new wave/funk fusion "Your Imagination"?) Still, much of what's here is fine music that should appeal not only to those who carry fond memories of radio and MTV playing it the first time around, but also to a good-sized handful of their kids. --Rickey Wright

I bought 2 copies of this same CD. Both of them, while providing the Hall & Oates songs that I love, gave me no real enjoyment because for some reason the sound is very empty. I've heard mp3s that sound better than this. What happened??

If you don't (and probably shouldn't) want to buy all of the Hall & Oates albums and just want to load this music on your MP3 player - this is perfect. Just perfect. Buy it, and watch out boys... she'll chew you up. JVD

5 out of 5 stars how do you even begin to comment on this singer?.......2007-06-22

I am fortunate to work in an office with walls and a door, where I can actually play music without disturbing anyone. Lately, because work has been particularly stressful, I've been playing and replaying my Hunt Lieberson CD's. Sometimes I am forced to just stop what I'm doing and listen, because I can't help it. Other times I'm aware of this glorious, comforting, melodic background to my work that makes everything I do more tolerable and less fraught. To say that I'm awestruck by this woman's gift would be the grossest of understatements. I don't recall ever responding to music in this way--and I am a singer. No one who cares about vocal music should be without all of Hunt Lieberson's work. Simply extraordinary.

5 out of 5 stars A reissued recital in tribute to a great artist.......2007-06-01

Lorraine Hunt Lieberson got her just due as a great singer only in the last seven years or so of her life. She had sung gloriously at the New York City Opera without being offered a chance to debut at the Met until she was in her forties and made a huge success as Dido in Berlioz's Les Troyens. Now that she is gone, her rpemature death has inspsired a number of tribute albums, of which this 1998 recital in Wigmore Hall is one of the best.

For one thing, it's her only solo recital on disk, and it features some staples of her repertoire--two arias from Handel's Theodora, two beautiful Rilke settings by Petyer Lieberson, and the spiritual 'Deep River' as one of the encores. Hunt Lieberson was also a great Mahler singer but never recored any. She was deeply moving in the Third Sym. as she is here in the five Ruckert lieder. Roger Nognobles offers exceptionally sensitive accompaniments, particularly in the Mahler--I'd rank this CD as first choice if you want these songs outside their usual orchestral setting.

In sum, a unique recital form a much loved and greatly missed singer.

5 out of 5 stars Great Lieberson Recital.......2007-05-31

This album is a 1998 recital by the great mezzo Lorraine Hunt Lieberson. It begins with 5 very beautiful songs by Mahler, all settings from poems by Freidrich Ruckert, followed by two Handel Arias, E vivo ancora from Ariodante, and As with rosy steps from Theodora. The Theodora aria is absolutely ravishing and brings down the house. No one sings Handel like Lieberson, the depth of feeling is remarkable. She concludes with three songs by her (at that time future) husband, the American Composer, Peter Lieberson. Finally she sings two encores, the American spiritual Deep River, and a lovely Brahms lieder Unbewegte laue Luft.

Lorraine Hunt Lieberson was one of the finest Mezzo's of our time. She had a gorgeous dark and warm tone with so much depth. In this recital she is at her absolute artistic peak and the audience realize that they are hearing something special. Roger Vignoles is one of the great piano accompanists of our time, and he shows it in this recording. Listening to this recital brings home the tragedy of Liebersons untimely death last year.

4 out of 5 stars Great comp, but missing a few singles..........2007-03-21

"It's Uncanny"(#80) & "Why Do Lovers(Break Each Other's Heart?)"(#73) weren't huge hits, but how did the live Apollo medley(#20) not make the cut? Oh well, the songs that are here are great & they sound fantastic. The one disc collections don't really do H&O justice, so this is the way to go.

4 out of 5 stars Hall & Oates.......2007-02-26

I bought this CD last month. I have "Rock and Soul part I" and think it is a fantastic collection of their music. This disc has all of the songs on R&S and a few more I was glad to get. However, there are also several mediocre if not just terrible songs included. Just buy Rock and Soul and download any other titles you want from itunes.

4 out of 5 stars 80's fan.......2007-01-12

I got this as a Christmas gift and I love it. I was a Hall & Oates fan when I was a teen in the 80's and they are still great to listen to now. It has a lot of the songs I loved but then they have a lot of older stuff too. There are a few hits they missed, but it still a really good CD.

5 out of 5 stars looking for the most comprehensive Hall & Oates collection?.......2006-12-22

maybe you're like me and you're looking for the most complete Hall & Oates collection. well, let me save you some time. After looking through the 5 or 6 "greatest hits" collections in their catalog, THIS 2-CD set has virtually ALL of the songs that the other collections have and then some. Nothing is left out.

In fact, there are two 2-CD sets here (ESSENTIAL Hall & Oates and ULTIMATE Hall & Oates) and THEY HAVE THE EXACT SAME TRACK LISTING. What the hell's the point in that? LOL So buy whichever one is cheaper.

You're welcome. :-)

5 out of 5 stars So many hits.......2006-11-10

When you pop this 2-CD set in, you suddenly go back to the 1980s, early 1990s and are amazed at how many hits these two guys were responsible for. This is a must-have if you are nostalgic for the 1980s, and the music and sound quality stand up to time.

In its own way, this soundtrack to the cult SciFi Channel series embodies all the trends of film and, to a certain extent, TV-scoring circa 2006. Alien universes and mysterious plots are suggested by exotic instruments like gamelans and taikos; an otherwordly woman comes in at regular intervals to vocalize esoterically ("Lords of Kobol"); and thundering percussions suggest action ("Scar"). It's as if cult band Dead Can Dance were on the required listening list for American screen composers ("Gina Escapes"). Composer Bear McCreary pulls off the mix better than some of his contemporaries because, this being TV, he probably doesn't have the budget of a big Hollywood composer and so he can't rely on a ginormous orchestra to do the work for him (i.e., he can't just pile on dozens of violins to suggest mood). Look for ex-Oingo Boingo member Steve Bartek (who's orchestrated many of Danny Hellman's finest scores) on guest guitar on the final track, "Black Market." --Elisabeth Vincentelli

Album Description

Acclaimed composer Bear McCreary builds on his impressive Season One accomplishments with this new original soundtrack from the second season of the Sci-Fi Channel's critically praised, top-rated television series starring Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, James Callis, Tricia Helfer and Katee Sackhoff. Once again, composer McCreary delivers a sensational, emotionally rich score that ingeniously melds orchestra, vocals, percussion and synthesizer in a variety of exciting motifs. Simply put, it's an amazing compilation that trancends the genre and brings sci-fi television music to new heights! Former Oingo-Boingo member Steve Bartek plays featured guitar on "Black Market". CD Booklet contains exclusive liner notes from McCreary and executive producer Ronald D. Moore.

5 out of 5 stars Great Album, even for nonfans!.......2007-07-10

This is a great album of music from one of the greatest scifi series ever. I've shared it with family and friends, who loved it, even those who normally don't enjoy orchestral music. The earthly nature of the music reflects more of a humanity than any of the pompous trumpet-driven garbage of other scifi series. Basically, its as great as the show, hands down.

4 out of 5 stars Moody and Moving.......2007-07-08

I've been pining for this album ever since Final Cut aired. When the original Galactica theme burst into fanfaire as the "Colonial Anthem" at the end of the episode, I was sold! It's a very moody soundtrack with some great and iconic BSG music.

5 out of 5 stars Great follow-on soundtrack to Season 1.......2007-06-27

An outstanding compilation of music from Season 2 of Battlestar Galactica. I also own Season 1, and this CD picks up where Season 1's left off. An interesting item to note is that some of the Season 2 songs are derivations of Season 1 songs. Highly recommend for Battlestar Galactica fans!

5 out of 5 stars Choosing Between Season One or Two? Choose Two........2007-05-15

Although the Season One soundtrack has the wonderful "The Shape of Things to Come", I give the edge to this Season Two soundtrack for being a more cohesive whole. And there are hints of "The Shape of Things to Come" in the Season Two track "A Promise to Return", anyway. So if you're choosing between the soundtracks for Season One or Season Two, I'd suggest Season Two. Of course you'll also want the miniseries soundtrack!

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic.......2007-05-12

Well, the music from BSG is fantastic in general, but this album was particularly wonderful, in my opinion. I really love Prelude to War, such a moving peace, the huge drums going off like cannons and the astounding strings just blew me away. I also really liked Baltar's Dream, Martial Law, amongst many others. I definitely recommend this soundtrack.

Product Description

A trio of noted Australian musicians--Iva Davies, Richard Tognetti and Christopher Gordon--composed the film's score. They previously collaborated on "The Ghost of Time," a piece commissioned for the Millennium celebrations in Sydney, which came to the attention of Peter Weir. The director was so impressed, he played the piece on the Master And Commander set throughout production, and he asked its creators to write the music for his movie. The score interweaves "Old World" and "New World" music, reflecting the talents and backgrounds of its composers. Iva Davies hails from both pop and classical traditions; Richard Tognetti, one of the world's great violin virtuosos, taught Russell Crowe the ins and outs of the instrument; and film/television composer Christopher Gordon brought orchestral texture to the project. Given the period, it comes as no surprise that the score is infused with source music from Bach (Cello Suite) and Mozart, among other great classical composers. Percussion dominates portions of the score. "Drums signal the forward movement of the ship," says Davies, "that it's on a mission. It brings you back into the action." The score's biggest surprise comes with its use of synthesizers. "Peter doesn't make films in the expected way," says Davies, "and for that reason we wanted the score to be not what everyone expected. Peter wanted some scenes to have what I call a kind of 'futuristic' sense"--conveying the idea that these 19th century sailors were cutting-edge explorers.

5 out of 5 stars Marvelous.......2007-02-12

A marvelous collection of compositions which greatly enhanced this fantastic film. This CD is marvelous on its own. It did not leave my CD player for weeks.

4 out of 5 stars Pretty Good.......2006-12-14

I purchased this soundtrack because I really enjoyed this music while watching the movie. But I was a little disappointed at the CD. Some soundtracks allow you to follow the entire plot like through the music (such as the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack). But this CD doesn't provide that. Several of the songs are recurring in the film but are only played once in the soundtrack. I would have liked the soundtrack to reflect the music for the whole film rather than just excerpts.

I give the music 5 stars and the CD 2-1/2 stars.

5 out of 5 stars the music .......2006-11-10

The music is excellent . Flows well Better than the movie score

3 out of 5 stars Good incidental music but not great listening music - except the classical pieces.......2006-11-09

The soundtrack for Master and Commander contains two distinct types of music. First there is the incidental music for the film. These pieces are heavy on the bass side of the orchestra and are often emphasized with bass drums and tympani. This music is very effective and appropriate for the scenes in the film, and I commend the composers for making a soundtrack that so seemlessly and effortlessly invokes the moods and excitement of the visuals. Unfortunately, these pieces are quite moody and slow moving - great as incidental music but not so interesting to listen to as straight orchestral music.

The second type of music is much more enjoyable to listen to. Those that have seen the film know there are several scenes in which people are playing music - for example, Aubrey and Maturin in the captain's cabin performing a cello-violin duet, or the sailors on deck playing sea shanties on tin whistles. The pieces chosen for the film range from Bach to traditional folk music, and are a welcome addition to the soundtrack. The performances are very good (including a cello solo by Yo Yo Ma), and the recording quality is excellent. Deserving special mention is the Boccherini piece (La Musica Notturna Delle Strada di Madrid), which serves as a second unofficial theme song for the movie. The piece itself is presented in its entirety, and there is a callback to the piece in the incidental music as well, which is a welcome ray of levity in an otherwise oppressive piece.

People purchasing this disc run the real risk of being disappointed - the incidental music works so well in the context of the film that you are likely to think (as I did) that the music is itself worth listening to alone. Unfortunately, I don't find this is the case, but the classical music that is included makes this a soundtrack worth having, especially for the Boccherini piece.

3 out of 5 stars Great classical music accompanies bland original score.......2006-09-27

The original music to this film is dull, repetitive, and only offers the hint of good music at certain points during it's lengthy tracks. But what about all the good music you heard in the film? That was all classical music, which was used in the film incredibly well. There are three tracks in particular that save this album. The piece by Corelli is used as something the captain and doctor play together. It is one of the most beautiful pieces of baroque music of which I am aware. A second piece, Vaughn Williams "Fantasia" is the piece heard when the crewmen have to cut the line that might save their friend who fell overboard. It's a tragic scene and accompanied perfectly by the heart-breakingly glorious piece. The original piece of music is quite a bit longer than the version on the CD, but the original version also tends to drag a little in places. All the best parts are on the version of the piece in the film. The third classical piece from the album that saves it is the cello solo by Bach that plays as a theme for the galapagos islands. This solo is performed perfectly by Yo Yo Ma. These tracks make the album worth purchasing. If you already have them, avoid the album because the rest is not very enjoyable. If you wonder about this one, watch the film and listen for the music. It speaks well for itself in the film.

3 out of 5 stars Standard Lewis Black fare.......2007-03-30

If you've listened to any of his previous records or heard him on the daily show, you'll have heard most of this before. This isn't saying that it isn't funny. It's just been rehashed a few too many times

5 out of 5 stars Lewis Black - Carnegie Hall.......2007-03-22

Love it! Laughed so hard my face hurt. Just be careful when listening to it in the car - you look like a psycho to others.

5 out of 5 stars Very Funny.......2007-03-11

I've enjoyed Lewis Black every since watching him a few years ago on Comedy Central Presents.. he continues to deliver and im sure will continue to deliver in the future. very funny political views/ not for the faint of heart!

3 out of 5 stars Agree with Consensus- not his best.......2007-02-18

I love Lewis, he is my favorite comic but surprisingly, for what must have been his biggest and most important performance, he really comes up short.

He comes off a bit too whiny and complaining on this one without the usual smart premises or jokes he usually offers. Per usual he gets away with a lot because he is so passionate, angry, energentic, and can pull off most topics because of his delivery but the basic problem on this one is the material itself-

Candy Corn- way too long and never really connects
Airport Security- pretty much overdone even by that time but that is what he does, except none of it is funny
Dead President- decent concept but certainly no closer.

End of the Universe, Rules, and White album are all superior.

4 out of 5 stars Decent perfomance at Carnegie Hall.......2007-01-10

some good stuff here for Mr. Black most of it either very funny or very on the mark. Not his best but good enough.

5 out of 5 stars Jimmy Yes Ma'm!!.......2007-05-29

Opening track "Still Want To Be Your Man" has 2 of the greatest R&B singers in a duet. Props to Delbert McClinton. Best R&B duet I've heard in a long time. "Salty" is my favorite track. Vintage Jimmy singing a soulful ballad with Kira Small adding a sweet not salty ending. "Here I Am" is just a straight forward, excellent R&B tune. Yes Ma'm! "Poor old Me, "Coming After You" and "Watchdog" remind me of Jimmy's solo "Rendezvous with the Blues" excellent cd in the 90s. Wish Sony would release his other solo cds from the late 80's and early 90's. "Cover Me" is a sweet soulful ballad that is another highlight of this cd. "Build Your Own Fire" is straight ahead soulful blues with great guitar work. "It's All Wrong" is another great soulful ballad that reminds me of early Wet Willie ballad tunes. "What will I Do Without You" has a gospel blues feel to it. "I Found a True Love" is the least bluesy song, just one to continue to show off Jimmy's awesome voice. The bonus tracks are very good. Not too much different in my book, but another "Salty" is never wrong.

5 out of 5 stars Mercy , mercy me.......2007-05-11

Lord have mercy, Jimmy Hall sure can sing. Everytime I have heard him in performance or via recording, I have been blown away. Once, in a Gainesville FL bar on a Monday night, I was lucky enough to hear him with the Nighthawks on a slow night. By the evening's end, the place was sweating like a thousand juke joints. The paint was peeling off the walls! Jimmy and the boys were hotter than University Avenue on a July noon. Buy anything by Jimmy Hall. Now! Trust me.
