Customer Reviews:
Rockabilly Hall of Fame 1st CD Issued with Rare Tracks.......1999-03-02
As the Rockabilly Hall of Fame celebrated it's first on the Internet in March of 1998, its first CD was issued. This package is a unusal music mix of legends and newer artists. The 27 tracks fill the allowable 74-minutes for a CD to the maximum with rock, rockabilly, country and blues ... all the ingredients that initially made rockabilly what it was over 50 years ago. The oldest cut is the rare 1947 previously unreleased "Don't Bother to Cry" tune by the Maddox Brothers & Rose (who passed away April 15, her last known cut transfered to CD before her death). The newest is a track by Billy Swan, "Stealin' a Move," written and recorded in January, 1998. You'll hear songs by established stars Narvel Felts, Hayden Thompson, Bobby Wayne, Bill Haley's Comets, Glen Glenn, Ronnie Haig, Don Weise, Mac Curtis and Gene Vincent guitarist Jerry Lee Merritt. Jerry's son Larry, The Nu Niles from Spain, The Crazy Rhythm Daddies from Canada and King Kerosene from New Jersey and several others represent today's rockabilly scene. Volume #2 is now available. Many old rock legends and new artists have expressed interest on being on the the Rockabilly Hall of Fame label. This could be the start of a new era for American roots music.
