In '87, I initially dismissed this group as another Wham! clone on first inspection, but I'm really glad I went back and listened to this album because it's FANTASTIC! This album is one of my favorites from the late 80s. The melodies are catchy, the lead singer sounds beautiful, and the album is extremely well produced. I love to play the CD and have a few glasses of red wine. Songs like "Listen", "I Don't Wanna Be A Hero", "What Other Reason", and "Don't Let It End This Way" are some of the most beautifully pure and honest songs of the 80s. I recommend this album to anybody who is even slightly curious, I doubt you will be disappointed. The album also goes well with a-ha's "Stay On These Roads".

Why does Johnny hate jazz so much? We may never know, but one thing I know is that this is a brilliant album from a brilliant pop band. This group is no Alphaville, but they're still brilliant.

    It's really a shame you can't find this album anymore. It is a great album full of melodies, good arrangments and a great voice. The album is in fact like a collection of pop songs after a polishment (tough not overproduction) process. Nowadays it's hard to find a good pop song with a great melody and a sense of refinement. This album has got not one but some of songs in that sense. If you think JHJ is only "Shattered Dreams" you will be greatly surprised to find out the album contains other songs as good and better than "Shattered Dreams" all in the same style of sophisticated pop.
