About the Artist
John W. Carlton spent his childhood in Lakeland, Florida. His mother claims that he could carry a tune before he could talk. Brought up in a strong religious family, he was singing solos in church as early as five years old. He began directing the choirs in his church when he was 15. His education includes studies at the University of South Florida and Mercer University where he studied voice and music education. He has lived in Jesup, Georgia, since 1974, serving several churches in that area as their Minister of Music. He has also served on a Missions tour to the New Brunswick province of Canada. He has served churches in Colorado and Alaska, as well as Georgia and Florida.

This is a collection of inspirational religious songs. They are the most requested songs that the artist has in his repertoire. The first two songs are original and autobiographical, written for his mother and father, respectively. The other eight songs are from various composers using old standards such as "I Bowed on My Knees," as well as newer contemporary Christian music such as "The Hammer."
