Varese Sarabande present "Gene Autry with the Legendary Singing Groups of the West", Sons of the Pioneers - have gone on to become legends. Many of these appearing for the first time in a collection from Gene's films, as Leonard Slye (would later gain screen immortality under the name of Roy Rogers) one of the Sons of the Pioneers, along with Bob Nolan and Tim Spencer were the ultimate in talent and extraordinarily gift composers.

The appearance of the Pioneers is the highlight of this album - "SOMEBODY ELSE IS TAKING MY PLACE", "SILENT TRAILS", "OLD PINTO", "WILD AND WOOLEY WEST", ROLL WAGON ROLL" and "NOBODY'S DARLIN' BUT MINE" the great Jimmie Davis tune became an instant hit and golden standard.

The careers of Gene Autry and The Sons of the Pioneers were somewhat interwined from the beginning, one of Gene's first million-selling records was his superb rendition of the Pioneers' theme song "Tumbling Tumbleweeds, written by Bob Nolan...so saddle up buck-a-roos and listen to our cowboy heroes of the '30s, '40s and '50s sing your favorite songs...as Gene and Champion ride out into the sunset!
