5 out of 5 stars The best album ever made, period........2007-05-22

I'm speechless. I've always found Lil Wayne by far the best of the 235 people that put Lil in front of their name. He's the biggest of the Lil. Chew on that for a minute. I never realized that he was birdman's dad. By the title of the album being like father, like son, I can only assume Lil Wayne is birdman's dad. That is awesome. I knew Little Wayne was trill, but to make a kid when he was like 4 is just off the hook.

Where do you start with the music on this thing. There is some cussing, some beats and lyrics about money. Try finding that on another rap album out today. If you do, you'll waste a lot of time because other rappers are too busy talking about macro economics and 3rd world debt relief. Birdguy and Little Wayne talk about what is real and I like that. I went out Friday night and we were bumpin some Tiny Wayne on the sound system with our pet kangaroo, Tibblies, in the back seat. You roll strong when you roll with a roo. We spent the night drinking 64's of Hurrican Malt liquor, which is my favorite when I want to get my swerve on. I ended arguing with some woman about whether Nelson Mandela or Lil Wayne have had more impact on the world. Mandela is cool and all, but could he record a track like, "You ain't know"? I'll answer that for you, no he couldn't. He would probably try to use actual words and grammar and ruin it. Leave the block rockin to Birddude and Teenie Wayne.

5 out of 5 stars great album.......2007-05-16

lil wayne is the greatest rapper alive and i dont give a crap what nobody saids so is juelzsantana jim jones snoop dogg ti birdman and other i forgot to mention they are great rapper and so is the blacxkeyedpeas bump shop boys and the g-unit crew is okay

1 out of 5 stars What are all of you talking about! This Album sucks!.......2007-05-05

This album is Horrible. The Diry South is DESTROYING hip hop. Im glad I only "Bought" this cd. I hate the dirty south rap. All of the dirty south rappers are the same. They all rap about they're stupid Platinum teeth, beamers with the rims that are really big and look stupid (they think it looks gangsta) . There is no skill in any of that dirty south rap. They keep repeating themselves the whole time. I love hip hop/Rap but The Dirty South is Destroying it. I wish we could bring back the old stuff like-

HOuse OF Pain
Cypress Hill
Funkdoobiest
Lords of the underground
Wu tang
Tupac
Biggie
The Pharcyde
NWA
Public Enemy
and Alot More.

I "Bought" this album because i figured why not, its a free album. I tried to listen to it and like it but i couldnt. The beats SUck and the lyrics Suck. PERIOD. Dont buy. The best move would be to keep the dirty south rappers out of the Rap game. Period!

2 out of 5 stars Man, why did I buy this album for?.......2007-01-23

I'm so sorry that I bought this album. Of course, the hit single "stuntin like my daddy" was jammin!! But, I thought I could get more into the rest of the album. I just could not do it. I will admit though. I do like Birdman's swagger. If Lil wayne could use more of his own rhymes instead of others, then he would be better. I got tired of hearing lil wayne's annoying delivery on a lot of the songs. I got Birdman's last album and I liked more songs on that one than this one. Save your money and buy something better, like that Trae's Restless album. Now, that's much better.

1 out of 5 stars WHAT'S THAT S---T ????.......2007-01-07

you can't say dis is rap nor hip-hop just because dis album sucks...deez beats are weaker than my vomit and the lyrix..BLEAH!!!!!...dirty south is the ruin of hip-hop, no doubt. let's go back in the days of '94 when hiph-op was real!!!

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars 4.5 stars.......2007-03-02

Yeah this album's a lot better than I expected. Wayne's been crankin' em out so fast lately, you would think he'd be gettin' sloppy....but "Like Father, Like Son" doesn't disappoint. Nice production, weezy's signature word play, check it out

5 out of 5 stars Hotter Than A Firecracker!!.......2006-11-04

This is the hottest cd going. The lyrics are super tight and even Birdman is rappin' pretty decent. Lil Wayne has arrived. He is definitely one of the top three rappers out there. If you want to hear great lyrics and hot beats, cop this quick but caution to the buyer: Wear mittens because this cd is HOT!!

4 out of 5 stars Remember the old cashmoney days?.......2006-11-03

Really 4.5 stars. Do you remember the days of ol' where juve was on fire turk was out of jail and lil wayne was walking in BG's shows? If your a old cashmoney fan...I mean when they had the gold chains and 400 deegreez was just coming out...you will love this CD....Now when Weezy says he's the best rapper alive your average rap fan will not understand what he's saying. for the amateurs dig through the past cashmoney albums and see how he has progressed to become what he is now, then tell me he cant be considered at least in the top 3. And most of all Weezy has yet to sell out and resort to pop music like to many supposed to be gangsta rappers (50 cent). Lyrically Weezy can't be touched. "the first time I got high I had 2 "O"'s like Ohio"...Just a taste of what you'll get if you but this album. That early no limit, early cashmoney, early ghetto boys, southern, slow, heavy bass havin', gangsta rap. Truly a thing of beauty...if you look at it from a hip hop point of view.

5 out of 5 stars On fire once again.......2006-11-02

The Birdman and Lil Wayne did it again. They give it to you real in this album. Lil Wayne spits fire on all the tracks just like usual. Pick this album up and you will not be disappointed. Keep thuggin in the N.O. and Baton Rouge!

Album Description

Another ferocious, 25-track David Allan Coe twofer from Bear Family, with unissued bonus tracks and duets with Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Jessi Colter and Dickey Betts! 1985 and 1986 Columbia releases (Unchained is right)! UNCHAINED/SON OF THE SOUTH not only includes some of David Allan's best songs, but also incredible duets with Waylon Jennings and his wife, Jessi Colter, as well as Willie Nelson, and Waylon and Willie together. In addition, there's even a duet with the Allman Brothers' guitarist, Dickey Betts. Last year, the renegade outlaw turned 65! But he's still on the road, still making impassioned music, and still turning heads. We're proud to be the only company offering a full documentation of his best recordings.

This is, without a doubt, one of the best David Allan Coe albums I've ever heard. I always expect great stuff from this guy, but Unchained/Son of the South really stands out. There is not one bad song on this album. A true gem.

      4 out of 5 stars Surprising collection.......2002-01-02

This is an import version of a set that was originally available from Sound Exchange, a Time Warner direct marketing music operation that has since folded. Though, since its original issue, some of these tracks have become available on CD elsewhere, there are several here that made their CD debut with this set and are still hard-to-find. Four Jacks and a Jill's "Master Jack", the Association's song from the movie, "Goodbye Columbus", Leapy Lee's "Little Arrows" and "Don't Just Stand There" by Patty Duke are among the rarities found here. Sound quality is quite good overall with all tracks except disc 1, tracks 4,14,16,17,19 and 20 and disc 2 tracks 7 and 20 appearing in their stereo version. While it may seem a bit pricey, with 40 tracks on two discs, it represents a reasonably good value. This is a surprisingly interesting collection of mostly substantially charting, yet seldom-found 45's from the later 60s. Since track listings are not supplied at the time of this review, they are as follows:
DISC ONE: Lazy Day - Spanky and Our Gang; The 59th Street Bridge Song - Harpers Bizarre; Master Jack - Four Jacks and a Jill; Western Union - Five Americans; Morning Girl - Neon Philharmonic; Brand New Me - Dusty Springfield; Turn Down Day - Cyrkle; Shame, Shame - Magic Lanterns; Baby, I'm Yours - Barbara Lewis; I Got Rhythm - Happenings; Son Of A Preacher Man - Dusty Springfield; Bowling Green - Everly Bros.; Don't Just Stand There - Patty Duke; Sweet Inspiration - Sweet Inspirations; Goodbye Columbus - Association; Pied Piper - Crispian St. Peters; Best Of Both Worlds - Lulu; Will You Be Staying After Sunday - Peppermint Rainbow; Next Plane To London - Rose Garden; Bottle Of Wine - Fireballs. DISC TWO: Games People Play - Joe South; Baby The Rain Must Fall - Glenn Yarbrough; I'm A Fool - Dino, Desi and Billy; Apricot Brandy - Rhinoceros; Crying Game - Brenda Lee; And Suddenly - Cherry People; Malibu U - Harpers Bizarre; Alice's Rock and Roll Restaurant - Arlo Guthrie; D.W. Washburn - Monkees; Classical Gas - Mason Williams; Indian Lake - Cowsills; Action - Freddy Cannon; Mr. Bojangles - Jerry Jeff Walker; Nashville Cats - Lovin' Spoonful; Come On Down To My Boat - Every Mother's Son; I Love You - People; Little Arrows - Leapy Lee; Mr. Dieingly Sad - Critters; Long Lonesome Highway - Michael Parks; Let It Out - Hombres.

This historical and emotional record of musical genius within the country-rock genre is without rival. It comes welcomed but surely overdue for re-release and I find unjust motives. When I was a soldier at Fort Bragg, North Carolina during its initial release, I found a unique connection to the Marshall Tucker legacy that would take me on a continued musical journey that has now lasted nearly fourty-five years. But I feel rage when asked to part with thirty-five dollars for a single CD. Who is kidding who? Is music also becoming a privelege of the rich? Screw the music business. No wonder there are pirates!!

Son of the South is the rerelease of, Toy Caldwell (1992 Cabin Fever), Toys only solo studio recording. Can't You See (1998 Pet Rock), is the only live solo release by Toy. Both records are very impressive and showcase Toys varried songwriting and unusual guitar style. I highly recommend these recordings and are a must to any southern rock enthusiasts collection. Oh by the way, I was the executive producer for both releases.

Well this album just cooks. I miss this style of southern rock. Toy was Marshal Tucker the other members were absolutly fantastic , but I don't know of anyone who could write a song as good as he did. If you buy this cd you must buy Toy's Live Can't you see. Just listening to them makes you realize what a talent he truly was.

This is a fiya cd.It's straight gangsta from start to finish.Marcelo still holdin it down for the Nolia. This cd brings me back to the era when n***** rapped from the heart. There are times Marcelo voice sounds similar to Soulja Slim.I only wish that this type of rap was more mainstream like it use to be!Nowadays the Hip Hop/Rap industry,is flooded with weak a** commercial rap,pop rap and wack MC's that make hits off of nursery rhyme dance songs. If you're a fan of hardcore rap,cop this cd,you wont be disappointed!
