Unfortunately, this is still not the definate Cal Smith collection that we all have been waiting for.

What we have here is a very sly repackaging of Cal's 1997 recording, "Stories of Life," that was recorded on Step One records. In fact, this collection doesn't even offer all the songs on the Step One realease.

The version of "Country Bumpkin" offered here, is by no means the original version.

I bought this because it said the song Amanda (my second daughter was named after this song) was track song #6. However the song
Amanda is not even on this cd. It was a major dissapointment! However Cal Smith has such a beautiful voice, it is worth listening to. I wanted to play this song for my daughter and since it was not on this cd as stated, I could not.

Dooley, John Peck, Jean Dooley, and Bumpkin. D.B. Dooley shares songwriting credits with Bumpkin and plays viola on this album, Jean Dooley plays accordion, and John Peck contributes with the mandolin and violin. Bumpkin is privileged to have the services of John Peck, who played with the Louisiana Hayride from 1981-1983 and with Mark Chesnutt from 1992-1995.
