Customer Reviews:
Not sure where they were going with this.......2007-07-10
I have been a Groove Junkies fan for a while and more recently a big fan of the "late night" series. This CD should have been a peak for both the artists and the series. However, with a very slow begining (this CD doesnt even start to take off until track 5) and some remixes of previous work I found it to lack the standard that the Groove Junkies usually set. Moreover, after hearing Late Night with King Britt and Late Night With Andy Caldwell I was disappointed in the "Late Night" series as well. Maybe Britt and Caldwell just set the bar too high?
Allow me to add something positive to the mix here for a minute. For those who have never heard the Groove Junkies before, know that even on a bad day they put together a good polished product. This CD is almost a departure from what one comes to expect for Groove Junkies CD. The first 3 tracks sound like something out of the OM winter sessions. I understand the need to branch out and experiment, but maybe you just need to change your name to reflect your new sound (i.e. petalpusher/migs). If you want to hear some solid beats that rock a party/room with Groove Junkie authority I would purchase Afterdark: Los Angeles or the OM Summer Sessions first. Overall, I gave this a 3 because there are some good cuts that are worth listening to like "I believe in dreams" and "Sahara" and if you have never heard "music's gotcha jumpin" then you are in a for a treat.

Enriched blood for the body and mind.......2006-07-28
Nick Burns (May 11, 2006 review) called Neon Tetra correctly--it's a great track. The entire CD boasts wit, precision, seamless transitions, and an ambitious, thrilling union of world and groove. This disc gets the endorphins flowing and the organism running on all chakras.
Groovy.......2006-05-19
Such a good CD to just chill out to--perfect for after work.
A beautifully mixed, wonderfully dynamic record filled with some really great gems.
My favorite of the "new world" series so far. Get this!
Extreemely Entertaining.......2006-05-18
It took a few listens to fully comprehend the insane ammounts of subtle and not so subtle textures and transitions, Im floored to have bought this. The sound is amazing and its the highlight of my day to come home from work and pop in the C.D. Halo - Mystical Sun is by far the perfect track to start the C.D. with! Buy it and Enjoy it forever!
GROOVALICIOUS.......2006-05-11
Enjoyable collection of tracks that really let you sit back and groove. The Neon Tetra track stands out to me - great movements and flow. Gaudi also continues to prove he is a great producer.

Book LA.......2002-02-12
In the increasingly popular format of the remix album, "Elephant House" deserves a space on the CD
shelve next to its' other proven peers Thievery Corporation, Kruder and Dorfmeister, and Jazzanova. As
one of the currently most sought after remixing team, Groove Corporation, a trio out of Birmingham, flex
their shred-cut-reconstruct muscle over classic tracks by Bob Marley, Dillinger, UB40, Luciano, Rae and
Christian, Bobby Womack and Ennio Morricone to name only half the roster of talent on this cd.
Shamelessly mixing soul, funk, roots into unavoidable bass powered dance grooves where the beats dig
deep but never overwhelm, the versatility of the original tracks creates great variety, and the remixes never
feel like a "one size fits all" recipe. To the contrary, each piece finds itself re-vamped into a seemingly new timeless classic.
press release.......2002-02-12
Guidance Recordings and Hi Fidelity Dub Sessions are pleased to announce the release of this sterling
remix collection from Birmingham, England based dub outfit Groove Corporation. Formerly know as
chart topping UK pop act Electribe 101, Groove Corporation ( aka Brian Nordhoff, Joe Stevens, and Rob
Cimarosti) are one the most sought after remix and production teams on the down beat scene. Their state
of the art, stream lined roots sound has earned them the enviable right to remix, rearrange, and re-interpret
the classic works of their musical mentors, and the sweet fruits of their labor are captured on this essential
best of collection. The track listing reads like a virtual who's who of reggae, soul, and electronic legends,
and features exclusive and previously unreleased mixes of Bob Marley, UB40, Bobby Womack, Rae and
Christian, Dillenger, Enio Morricone and many more. Appyling their midas touch to these timeless
masters, the lads deliver a peerless program of spacious horizontal dub, soul, funk and down tempo
electronic grooves complete with Y2K complaint beats and baselines. The remix album is becoming an
increasingly popular format in the electronic music market and this stellar collection will appeal strongly
to fans of similar genre related titles from artists like Kruder and Dorfmeister and Jazzanova.

Customer Reviews:
The "Whitman Sampler" of Groove Collective, to use a Chocolate Analogy.......2006-08-24
I'm never disappointed by Groove Collective, they are one of the most smokin' and sizzlin' acid jazz/hip hop (and they are so much MORE than those labels conjure) groups to come out of the Giant Step scene in the early 90's in NYC. Saxophonist Jay Rodriguez has got to be one of the most underrated players today. A true visionary. My BIGGEST complaint about this album (and hence the Whitman Chocolate Sampler analogy) is that the album's live tracks are fades in and fade outs of songs. You don't get a chance to hear the song grow and develop and resolve, especially with a band of such improvisational masters putting their work on a live recording. Get this album anyway, and buy everything else in their catalog. Forgot to mention Jonathan Maron -- another one of the most underrated bass players of this genre. Man, can he set and hold down a tight groove.

How can I submit a review of a product I have not received yet (since October 10th when I put the order)?
I'll keep wating...
Kind of Mellow.......2006-06-26
I really wish Amazon had samples for this so you could hear it. I grabbed it on Usenet then ended up buying the CD here. As noted, it's Black Sabbath done note for note, but with mellower instruments and no vocals. Laid back. I love Sabbath and normally hate anything that smacks of Muzak or lounge music, but this is great. Perfect for putting on the background, and of course other Sabbath fans will wander over and ask, half repulsed but half curious, what the [bleep] this is.
I'm not giving this 5 stars since it lacks the intensity I demand from 5 star CDs, but it's good stuff and well worth it for the price.
Wahoo .......2004-08-31
I love it ! Somehow a friend of a friend gave me this because she knew I was a Sabbath fan- I was skeptical to listen , but WAHOO-- it is awesome ! I even listen to it in my office and people are always asking me about it- I love to tell them its Ozzy's old band -- Jazzed upside in!
Another Casualty of Jazz.......2004-07-04
From first listen I loved it and the cover shot of model Eve Ellis is gorgeous! Very catchy and the songs are done in such a completely different, wonderful style that the familiarity becomes secondary and subtle. A great tribute to Sabbath, not to mention the drumming is flawless and the organ and bass are infectious. Perfect cd for driving or lounging. For lack of categorization it's like Black Sabbath in a roller-rink but not soulless like Muzak. I was humming the songs well after listening - they stick in your head and even non-Sabbath fans can appreciate the music. The liner notes are right when they say that a great album was about to happen, it won't be leaving my cd player anytime soon.
Suprised!.......2004-06-17
Black Sabbath is my favorite group, and I'm sick of all these "tribute" records popping up - they are almost all bad. I was not expecting much from this, but it was intriguing. Jazz organ trio covering Sabbath classics...
But it IS good. Unless you hate jazz organ, that is! It sounds like Brother Jack McDuff or Jimmy Smith playing Sabbs! The songs are done NOTE FOR NOTE, not weirdo fake sabbath - these guys learned the parts, which I give a lot of credit for. It is cool, as you can put this on to play in a store or supermarket, and most would not get it, but metal heads would be loving it!
For times when Sabbath is too heavy, I'll put it on.

good stuff, but not enough of it.......2007-04-29
The music on here is pretty good. These New World releases are a good way to hear some quality chill and "ethno-ambient" tracks from the somewhat obscure Interchill label, and elsewhere, but there are a few problems with this series, and this one in particular. First, the tracks are all mixed together, with one track running into the next (kind of inconvenient if you should want to burn them to a CD separately), and secondly, why so short? At 44 1/2 minutes, they could have added at least a few more tracks, or at least given us the beginnings and ends that were trimmed off. If they continue with the New World Series (Groove, Chill, Dub, Ambient, etc) I hope they'll make a few changes.
