Refreshing.......2005-11-22
These guys are so talented. It's real music written from the heart with some real awesome melodies and harmonies. It's definitely like one of the previous reviewers stated, "A breath of fresh air." You won't be disappointed!
Like a breath of fresh air.......2003-10-28
This is quite possibly one of the most refreshing new CDs I've heard in a long time (too long for that matter). I first heard the Avett Bros back in September when they played on WNCW (the greatest radio station in Western NC, or anywhere for that matter). I just happened to tune in, and as soon as I heard them I knew I'd be getting this cd. Like others here, this cd has stayed in my cd player since I first popped the cd out of its case and into my player. How do you describe it? Well, it's a lot of things, but the shortest way is to call it good, energetic bluegrass mixed with incredibly catchy and soulful tunes that don't wear thin after countless listens in a row. These dudes have got it down, and I can't wait to see them in concert. I don't care what genre of music you say you like, yada yada yada...just check out this cd.
a "must have".......2003-09-11
This is one of the best new albums I have heard. I am not a huge bluegrass fan, but this is the kind of CD you put in and don't take out for weeks. Start to finish this is something so fresh, just about every song can stick in your head. My favorites are "Me and God" and "The Offering" A must have!!!!
Finally, something different!.......2003-09-02
I have CDs from every genre of music, and, no matter how much I love them when I first buy them, I always am tired of them within a few weeks. However, A Carolina Jubilee has remained my favorite ever since I bought the CD. I don't consider myself a real fan of bluegrass, but the Avett Bros. music is a such an awesome combination of catchy tunes and heartfelt lyrics that any music lover can appreciate it.
Album of the year!!!!!!!!!!!.......2003-08-20
Take the Violent Femmes and mix it with some Old-Time, Foot Stomping Mountain music and you have a good idea what to expect with "A Carolina Jubilee"!!! Buy it!!
