About the Artist
Sydney alt.country/power pop outfit The Forresters' much lauded debut album release 'Skindeep' is a diverse collection of roots driven pop. The brainchild of singer/songwriter Anthony Bautovich from The Orange Humble Band, 'Skindeep' is an infectious collection of lovingly crafted rootsy pop that not only grabs a hold of you but refuses to let you go.

Product Description
"...It's a luscious mixture of pop, rock, r'n'b, and country, tantalising and exploratory. It never rests on it's laurels: the songs develop and change as they progress, new elements continually introduced, new echoes from rock's rich tapestry setting off gentle footfalls down the passageways of memory...." Bucketful of Brains (UK) Independent Sydney label Tom Thumb Records are proud to announce the US release of the much lauded debut album 'Skindeep' by alt.country pop outfit, The Forresters. The project is the brainchild of singer/songwriter Anthony Bautovich from the trans-Pacific pop ensemble The Orange Humble Band and features a wonderful group of Australian players who have all given to the sound of this record including Nick Kennedy (Knievel, The Cops) on drums, Steve Balbi (Noiseworks) on bass, Matt Galvin (Michael Carpenter & Kings Road, Eva Trout) on guitar and lap steel, Cameron Bruce (Dave MacCormack & The Polaroids) on keyboards and Melbourne based guitarist Charlie Owen (Tendrils, New Christs) on guitar and dobro. Just released to US radio, the Gram Parsons/Emmylou Harris inspired country love ballad "Tremblin'" has been receiving its fair share of attention including; "....the real gem here, though, is the slow, dobro and organ-decorated love song Tremblin', a catalogue of tender, intimate reflections lifted by beautiful vocal harmonies from Bronwyn Mulcahy..." Jeremy Issacs - Maverick (UK) "...'Tremblin' is a finely crafted song straight out of the Flying Burritos songbook..." Zeitgeist (UK) "... "Tremblin'" features French horn motifs and a neo-psychedelic bridge that resurrects the daring cross-genre experimentation of the late 1960's early '70s studio-rock legends...." Amplifier (USA) ".... bright harmonies, guitars that really should be pouring out of open car windows, joy in a Teenage Fanclub / Jayhawks vein...." Americana UK "..'Are You Ready' is a strong contender for song of the year.." Ctrl.Alt.Country (Belgium) "...The finished album is a really infectious collection of well-crafted rootsy pop with the sort of tight layers of vocal harmonies you can only imagine The Beach Boys equalling and a mix of styles, from jangly West Coast to country to rock, that somehow seem to gel together remarkably well....throughout the record Bautovich demonstrates that he is a extremely fine writer of well conceived narrative tales and personal stories as well as having a real ear for musical arrangements and production..." Keith Clark - Maverick Country (UK) The album has been lovingly mixed by renowned Sydney engineer/producer Wayne Connolly who has recorded and mixed with, amongst others, You Am I and The Vines. From the opening track and debut single, the Teenage Fanclub/The Byrds flavoured power pop gem 'Are You Ready' to the serene alt.country textures of the album's closer 'God Willing', 'Skindeep' is a delicate excursion into roots driven pop. With tender melodies, wonderful chord progressions, and a command of a particular sound, The Forresters surrender to these intricately crafted and emotionally honest songs leaving the listener with a warm and satisfying glow. Laden with hooks and harmonies that often reach Byrdsian proportions, 'Skindeep' is filled with songs that not only grab a hold of you but refuse to let you go.
