New Faces of 1952 .......2007-05-13
This is the original broadway cast album. It contains songs which went on to become hits for their performers, such as Lizzie Borden, Lucky Pierre, Love is a simple thing, Guess who I saw today, Bal petit bal and Monotomous. Now re-released on Jasmine label, it was originally released by RCA Victor so the quality is excellent, but from the mono era.
Wonderful memories!.......2007-03-24
Loved having this on the CD form. I wore out the 33 1/3 record. Thank you for carrying this CD!
Where is Time For Tea?.......2005-12-04
I bought a recording of this show in the middle '70s when RCA was re-isuing a lot of their rare soundtracks. The record made a big deal about isuing a lost track called "Time For Tea" from this show sung by June Carroll and Alice Ghostley. This track is not included on this CD. Luckily I still had the record, and was able to make a version of the CD and add the second last track just before Lizzy Borden. Buyer beware however, this CD is not complete!
If You Tapped Your Fingers to the Music in Waiting for Goffman . . ........2005-08-16
Hey, don't waste your money unless you dig the score of really crummy musicals. Some people do. If you are not among that select group then don't believe the good reviews by other buyers (bless their hearts) like I did. Note that Amazon doesn't offer excepts from this aged dog. Good strategy. I bought this cd for the Lizzie Borden song on it but the arrangers even ruined that with a silly bridge section about Lizzie ruining the singers' weekly hoedown. Terrible. Maybe I can unload this cd in a used music store and get a few dollars back. I hope so.
What about the movie?.......2005-07-01
Great, great show! But are any of you people aware that "New Faces of 1952" came out as a movie. The entire stage show was shot mainly from the front as if from a really expensive orchestra seat. Includes Paul Lynde and Ronny Graham in a howling send-up of "Death of a Salesman." Paul Lynde in tattered jungle gear at an afternoon ladies lecture describing his latest safari to darkest Africa. And Eartha doing "Monotonous!" The whole show was filmed.
NOW where is a VHS or DVD of that film? The world is waiting!

The BEST!!!!!.......2006-07-20

Am thrilled to have found a place to get this type of music.
Couldn't handle stardom.......2004-10-13
When T started his career with a string of top ten country hits, he seemed set to become a major star for many years to come and he certainly had the ability but it appears that he couldn't cope and developed an alcohol problem. So after eleven top ten hits, his career was effectively over. T's voice has some similarities with Kenny Rogers and Lee Greenwood though you wouldn't mistake him for either. His music is a mix of blues, rock and country but the country element is strong.
This compilation features the first nine of those hits plus a cover of Power of love (the same song that Charley Pride took up the country charts, not one of the famous pop songs).
T began with two top ten country hits (I tell it like it used to be, I wish that I could hurt that way again) then had two number ones (Hell and high water, Don't go to strangers), three more top ten hits (Brilliant conversationalist, She couldn't love me anymore, The last resort) and two further number ones (Darlene, Come as were). All those hits are included here. His last two top ten his (If you could see me now, Don't go out) are missing. Don't go out, a duet with Tanya Tucker, is available on several of Tanya's compilations.
If you enjoy the music of Kenny Rogers, there's a good chance that you will enjoy the music of T Graham Brown, once thought destined for superstardom but now almost forgotten.

T. (a country/Soul artist) at His Very Best; CD Sonics Outstanding Too.......2005-11-23
T. Graham Brown -- for those who don't know -- is an unusual genre-combiner: not country and blues (like you know about), not country and folk (like you know about), not even country and Dixie (like Merle Haggard); T. Graham Brown is country and SOUL. He even sings Mustang Sally in his concerts (well, he used to; I haven't heard him live for a few years ). His older CD's than this one have tunes penned by Soul artist Wilson Pickett. What does T. Sound like? A good bit like Joe Cocker -- but more fluidity and more nuanced. (Put it this way, a female listener will instantly fall in love hearing his voice.) This CD is sonically, absolutely T.'s best. T. was also at his peak of performance. I saw T. live at a small intimate venue twice (Zed's in Alexandria, VA) and at an outdoor concert and at HammerJacks (med-big) in Baltimore. So I know what T. sounds like. On a great audio system, I was transported back to Zed's. I ended up buying the $3,900 Linn CD player because of this CD. So, if you're an audiophile -- here's your Demo disc (Natural Sound in Framingham MASS bought the disc after hearing me play it to audition stuff there.) If you love soulful music, this is a great CD. It's melodious and rhythmic and good tunes and good stories too. And, T. does do one BLUES tune on the CD. Is there reason to consider T.'s CD's prior to Bumper to Bumper -- sure: more good tunes and stories (and even more soul influence), but they don't have anywhere near the sonic excellence of Bumper to Bumper. About 3 tunes on Bumper to Bumper are not to be missed: Moonshadow Road, If You Could See Me Now, and Sending One Up for You.

I disagree with the other review.........2004-01-13
I have a syndicated radio show called "Are You Ready for the Country?". When I first received the new T. Graham Brown record for airplay I was a bit skeptical. I liked the song "Darlene" as a kid but I just wasn't sure if his "T-ness" would be making hip music in the year 2003.
I put the cd in my car while driving and was blown away for the next 45 minutes. This record is amazing. The sound on this record is what country music should be about today. Why country radio has ignored this record is insane.
T's remake of "Middle Age Crazy" stood out to me from the first time I heard the song. "My Old Friend the Blues" is extremely powerful.. you can hear the sincerety in T's voice on this one.. he truly feels it. (another thing gone bad on country radio, they have no emotion).
It's upbeat songs are country mixed with some rock and funk.. there's some blues numbers.. some ballads.. it's a perfect record. If you're a fan of "good music", pick this one up. You'll thank me later.
+1/2 OK commercial country from a sort-of old-timer.......2003-06-27
Country singer T. Graham Brown had considerable Top 40 success in the late '80s with hits like "Hell And High Water" and "Don't Go To Strangers." These days, though, Brown is one of the many once-big stars who've found a cold shoulder greeting them in today's lean, mean Nashville. Without a major label contract, Brown shows that he's still able to make an album pretty much as good as anything he did back in the '80s; this slick, oldies-tinged tunes aren't quite my kinda hillbilly music, but this disc does have one standout track, a duet with George Jones, called "Bag Of Bones." These two old-timers sure sound good singing together!
