About the Artist
Jim Weatherly is one of America's top songwriters having written such classics as "Midnight Train to Georgia", "Neither One of Us Wants To Be The First To Say Goodbye", and "You're The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me", all hits for Gladys Knight & The Pips. He also had a top 10 pop record as an artist with "the Need To Be, which was also an R&B hit for Sandra Feva. His country hits include "A Lady Like You" by Glen Campbell,"Someone Else's Star" by Bryan White, "Where Do I Put Her Memory by Charley Pride, "Roses And Love Songs" and You're the Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me" by Ray Price among others. His wide range of songs have been recorded pop, R&B, country, Jazz, gospel, and semi classical. At the moment Jim is working on a new album of his hits as a songwriter due for release sometime in 2002.

This album was recorded amd mixed in 1977. It was never released on vinyl or tape due to the fact that the record company was phased out and sold. It has been digitally remastered and is available now, for the first time, on CD. It includes two of Weatherly's biggest hits as a songwriter. "You're The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me" was a number one record for Gladys Knight & The Pips, both R&B and pop, and was a number one record for Ray Price on the country charts. "Love Finds Its Own Way" was another pop and R&B hit for Gladys Knight & The Pips. also, "All That Keeps Me Going" was released as a single by Weatherly and was a Top 30 country hit.

      Album Description

      In listening to Spin Moon Magic, one is quickly reminded that The Dreamside came before their countrymen Within Temptation or bands such as Lacuna Coil or Evanescence. While this album will certainly appeal to fans of the above-mentioned acts, The Dreamside clearly demonstrate that they are capable of evolution as well. Kemi Vita's vocals are both powerful and beautiful, whether they are the driving force behind a radio-rock anthem like Forsaken or serving as the sole contrast to a delicate piano line in Somewhere Before. The fourth track, "Open Your Eyes," features guest vocals by Rogue of The Cruxshadows. The disc contains the video for "Open Your Eyes" as well as a bonus remix of the band's first song in German, "Die Hoffnung."

        The Essential Andreas Vollenweider surveys the Swiss harpist's career from his 1981 worldwide debut, Behind the Gardens, Behind the Wall, Under the Tree..., to 2000's Cosmopoly. In 1981, Vollenweider was a breath of fresh incense capable of creating sweet, poignant melodies with an electro-acoustic harp that reached from deep bass lows to shimmering highs. As Vollenweider's music progressed, world-music elements came to dominate his sound. Sometimes, as on "Belladonna" from 1982's Caverna Magica, the fusion resulted in world-music kitsch as Middle Eastern and Brazilian vocals wafted over snappy lounge rhythms. By the time of 1984's White Winds, Vollenweider had coalesced his multicultural approach into sweeping suites. The Essential Andreas Vollenweider concentrates on his upbeat, jazzier material, leaving the more textural, emotionally ambiguous pieces aside. Nevertheless, there's a breadth of vision represented on this CD that shows a musician always searching. Vollenweider's albums are meticulously recorded, with each instrument given its own space, creating an encompassing sense of architecture. But the remixes here improve the sound dramatically, especially on the earlier works.                 This Cd is delightful. I love Leslet Garrett's voice but most of all, I love the selection. This cd is great for introducing any true lover of opperetta to some truly great operas and composers. I originally bought this cd for a musical glimpse at Sullivans 'The Contrabandista' and discovered the beautiful worlds of Offenbach and Lehar and so many more that can not be heard except in pieces (many of which only exist on this cd such as 'The Contrabandista' and 'The Opera Ball' and 'The Dancing Years'). I recommend that anyone who loves opera buy this album. But on a final note, all of the songs are sung in english, even those not originally done so.

                If you adore great singing by a super star this cd is for you. What a voice! Everytime I hear it, I loose my breath i'm so excited. I tell you, there are not many voices like this around. When you find one you have better latch on to it for there may not be another.

                The main concern I had for this cd was the repertoire. It had too many songs that I didn't particulary like. If the repertoire had of been better this cd would definately have been a 5. I will say this, Lesley's voice was super even on the songs that I didn't like.

                I know a lot of people are unfamiliar with Lesley, since she lives in the U.K., but she deserves you attention. She is a great talent.

                Recommendation: Despite giving this cd a low rating, I still would like to recommend it.
